Mark schuett is the new owner of the building which was home to a company many siouxlanders know , sioux tools. But what many may not know is that even b bore sioux tools, there was sioux city brick and tile. The building has over a century worth of history and mark says that his game plan is to remodel the building in a way thats similar to its 1920s form. Part of what we wanted to do was actually restore it back to what im going to call its glory days in the 20s and get it to look like that and to be able to use it to do our processing, said schuett. Marks company is americananatural processors incorporated, a business that produces grain, protein concentrates, oil and more. He says that the motivation to purchase the building was not only because o o family, but the chance to preserve history. Well its a family project and so my wife julie and i decided we could make this building work. We know its going to be more of an investment than if we wouldve started from scratch, but the idea that we can safe some of the hihiory of the building. We plan on having a small room where we will display the history of the building, said schuett. Majority of the building was not in use since 2002 leaving many people to suspect that it would soon be demolished if there was not a use for it. But with the current project in place, tom munson, an archival clerk for sioux city says that this upcoming plan is a bobos for the residents of sioux city. He says although the price of turkey has risen, due primarily to the avian bird flu, milk prices have fallen which has kept the overall cost of the thanksgiving meal fairly consistent to last year. as said it really has been quite stable for the last five years. Just right around 49, and it has f fxuated plus ororinus about twentyfive cents, right aroundndhe 49 and a half dollar cost, for the last four to five years. And the cost was 50. 11 for this year , which was up 70 cents from a year ago. And of that, a 1. 39 wathe increase in the cost of the turkey. 51 cents lower on the milk, and actually 30 cents lower on the miscellaneous ingredients.
