Jessica rae we begin this morning with the former cop charged with killing a teenager in chicago. Officer Jason Van Dyke is out of jail, after posting bail. Protests have continued, as the mayor moves to create a new task force. Reporter Andrew Spencer has the latest Police Officer Jason Van Dyke walked out of jail monday night, surrounded by apparent supporters. They escorted him past the reporters waiting outside. Van dyke made bail. Hours after a judge set his bond at oneandahalf million dollars. Van dyke faces a first degree murder charge in the killing of Laquan Mcdonald during a confrontation with police in october 2014. An autopsy showed van dyke shot mcdonald 16 times. Since the dash cam video was released to the public last week, protests have been a steady reality in chicago. Those demonstrations have remained mostly peaceful, as leaders urged people to stand together. protester use your voice and shout it out its all about unity. crowd its all about unity. Chicago mayor rahm emanuel is now calling for the creation of a task force on police accountability. His office says it will review the kinds of oversight Police Officers get and how the city trains them. The move comes as emanuel finds himself amid a political firestorm over the citys handling of the shooting. Protesters question why the video was kept from the public for more than a year, and why murder charge only came after a judge ordered the video released. Some drivers said the weather was a non factor, some stated it was the drivers more so than the weather, while others stated it was a little bit of both. The first set of plow crews came in at 3 yesterday morning, with the second crew following in at 7. Because of the heavy snow fall, shifts have ranged from 12 to 16 hours to maintain insterstate roads and to make clearing the highways easier, few trucks are sent out to the same destination at one time for quicker clean up. Normally on i29 we try to run two tow plows in tandem, with one more truck behind us so we can get everything taken across in one shot. Snow or shine the naia volleyball tournament will begin today down at the tyson. 24 teams from arouou the country will take the courts championship, including two from right here in siouxland. Briar cliff has qualified for the tournament in each of head coach trevor schirmans three seasons at the helm. This year, despite a schedule featuring the numbers one, eleven, and 14 teams in the country, the chargers are optimistic heading into pool play. Katelin langelthis is kind of a hope and dream for everyone to come to the National Tournament. So you know, making it this year again, is just a privilege for us and it gives us hopefully a way to send the seniors out on a good note. And i know that being in the gpac conference will help us out a little bit with the competition.
