police and the woman's husband had feared for the children's safety. police say friday night elron stuart told the father she was taking the children to buy milk but they never came home. elron had been acting strangely and may have been looking at the internet for ways to harm the children. police are not releasing the details. the coast guard continues searching for one of two men missing after a boat capsized off of ocean beach. they escaped the tug boat by inflatable raft. they were dumped in the water when the raft flipped over in the high surf. one of the men was pulled to safety. although the missing man is wearing a life vest he's vasing harsh conditions. >> the person who was rescued was in hypothermia, so, you know, again, we would have to assume the second victim is in the water and hypothermia sets in quickly. >> the men got into trouble when the tug boat they were in disintegrated. neither of the men has been identified. a tribute to a popular restaurant owner gunned down outside his restaurant yesterday morning. police want to reassure concerned community members. what law enforcement is doing to calm the fears of the community. >> reporter: folks gathered at the restaurant to honor the owner. jesus chewy campos. police say he was shot and killed in an apparent botched robbery about 5:30 friday morning. the crime outraged community already struggling with robberies and assaults. a march for peace and barbecue was planned before his death but expanded to honor him. >> our communities are tired and we want to take our communities back. >> and i also think people had say some things, like i saw this dude do such and such and i think we can solve some of the crimes. >> reporter: for the second time in two days oakland officials returned to the area this time for a town hall meeting to discuss violence. >> i brought out my deputy chiefs because i want them to hear from the residents. just like i come out andity t the mayor and i come out -- come out and the mayor and i come out, i wanted them to hear from the people. >> reporter: statistics showed things are improving. >> despite this high-profile crimes and despite the fact that i've had more murders this year, violent crime in down 4%. >> reporter: some are not convinced. >> crime is going down in some areas, but the reality is the armed robberies and the assaults on merchants and the robberies have kind of increased. >> reporter: the brother of the victim says the loss is devastating for his family. . >> painfully sad not only for the family but those who benefitted from campos' hard work. it's hope the reward will generate some calls to police. the tip lines were not called when cbs 5 called. . >> people cannot be discouraged when they're making those calls. >> reporter: you work so hard to get those calls you can't turn them down. >> thank you. >> reporter: sure. a sweep through another embattled oakland neighborhood netted 19 arrests overnight. it was a prostitution sting along international boulevard at 17th. 18 johns and one pimp were arrested. the problem, especially as underage girls were forced into prostitution was the subject after community rally last month. four people are recovering after a small plane crash in southern california. the single engine beech craft bonanza lost power and slammed into a storage facility near the kamario airport. all four passenger got out of the plane, one was seriously hurt but the other three suffered only minor injuries. the storage unit caught fire and was badly damage. no one on the ground was hurt. and a delayed start to a hawaiian vacation for a hundred people this morning. in alaska airlines flight carrying 163 people had just taken off for sacramento and was on its way to maui when a bird got stuck -- or sucked into one of the plane's engines. the pilot turned around as a precaution and landed the plane safely. the passengers boarded another plane to maui. museums are open for business hours after a late night congressional compromise averted a shutdown. the president took advantage of this and did some sight seeing. >> reporter: president obama thrilled visitors to the lincoln memorial with a brief visit saturday. monuments and federal museums would have been closed if lawmakers had not reached a last-minute deal just before midnight to avert a government shutdown. >> plus congress was able to settle its differences, that's why this place is open today and everybody is able to enjoy their visit. >> reporter: tourists in the nation's's capital like the carlson from kentucky say they're relieved their plans were not disrupted. >> it was never racking not knowing what was going to happen -- nerve racking not knowing what was going to happen and kind of being in limbo. >> reporter: this is the the first battle among many this year as the president tries to negotiate with a republican led congress. compromises will have to be made on raising the government's borrowing limit and the budget for the next fiscal year which begins october 1st. the deal to keep the government funded through september includes $38.5 billion in spending cuts. although both sides claimed victory republicans are already calling for more cuts. >> unless we act soon, government spending on health and retirement programs will crowd out spending on everything else. including national security. >> without objection, so ordered. >> reporter: lawmakers approved a short term measure to keep the government operating for a week until the plan can be written into legislation. votes will be held next week. . national parks remain open, state parks here in california could soon close. with you no one knows exactly which ones. earlier this year governor brown asked the parks department to choose which of the state's 278 parks to close, but that still isn't public. that poses problems for californians making summer vacation plans. for now the agency is accepting reservations. refunds will be issued if the park closed. governor brown could change his budget strategy. he may ask the legislative to approve tax extensions to help balance the budget. he was going to give voters an opportunity to extend taxes. governor brown is expected to release an updated budget plan in mid-may. tragedy in paradise, an explosion in an underground bunker in honolulu killed two and others are missing. thousands are waiting in line for hours to get free health care. everything from checkups to eye glasses. and they say disney land is the happiest place on earth by but they have no motive. a warning tonight for seniors in napa county about a phone scam. authorities say some elderly people are receiving late night calls from people who claim to be their grandchildren. the callers say they're in trouble and asking for money. the victims wire money to pay a fine or get them out of jail. remember to ask questions that only a family member could answer. write down any caller i.d. numbers and report those who police. many uninsured families are trying to find out how to get the medical and dental treatment that they need. here is one option. >> reporter: it wasn't a game or a concert that had people lining up to spend the night outside the oakland coliseum. it's the promise of free health care. >> i came here yesterday evening at 11:00. >> which turned the coliseum into a city of clinics. optometry, dental care and private visits with doctors, all volunteers. a lot of people can afford medical but that doesn't include dental and visual and that's why the dental and vision sections are so full. >> reporter: the clinic will be here and had likely have an overnight line through tuesday helping up to 1,000 people each day. >> i'm sleepy and i'm tired and i'm hungry. >> but you're still smiling. >> i'm still smiling, yes. >> i'm happy. >> reporter: and they're looking for more licensed california medical professionals to volunteer. tonight. the winds kicked up today, especially the latter part of the day blowing strong out at coast line. tonight looking good over the city of san fransisco. mostly clear skies. patchy fog on the coast hien. still, high pressure digging into the bay area. get a sense of the flow here. low brought the showers yesterday, a ridge building in time for the weekend. so not a heat wave for the weekend but so far it's been dry than will continue for tomorrow. should be mostly sunny. few degrees warmer as we head into the afternoon mid-60s. coast line, cool side, patchy fog and temperatures in the 50s and 60s. 47 in napa right now, 49 in vail and some of the winds condition to blow. around the state warmer weather in the interior valley, 67 in sacramento, you want to get up to do skiing in looking good up there. the road way the nice and clear. they have a ton of snow. i saw the squaw valley had 700 inches of snow for the season. that is an all-time record for them. something else up there. partly cloudy skies as we look toward money if you want to ski up there, slushy mix the following day as on monday we're expecting showers and mixture of snow. prepare for spring skiing conditions in the high country. high pressure trying to build in, enough to keep us dry for the weekend. here is that next storm system right here. we're going to catch the trailing edge of that one. may see enough to bring a few showers into monday. for tomorrow, should be mostly sunny around the bay area. breezy but not as strong today. cold in spots, 37 for an overnight low in napa, 36 in santa rosa, 39 in livermore. by day we should sneak in lots of sunshine by the bay, mid-60s in morgan hill, 63 in mountainview and 62 degrees na san matio. oakland, sun at 63, pleasant hill 65, and 68 and sunny in brentwood. in the north bay expecting cool temperatures coast side. those numbers mainly into the 50s. inland plenty of sunshine as we look toward the afternoon. looking out over the next few days, it's -- we got changes. clouds rolling in come monday. does not look like a big deal but a slight chance for showers. most of that north of the golden gate bridge. then it moves on out, warmer as we head to tuesday. another storm drops in come wednesday. i think that will bring with it partly cloudy skies in the bay area. but after that, looks like high pressure sneaks in here and by next weekend we talk about temperatures back into the mid-70s again here in the bay area. so pretty nice weather. still not done with wet weather just yet. we can see that rain well into may and i've seen some years where we get it into june. but it looks like we're transitioning right now finally to that nicer pattern. >> and with baseball back in town people ready for sunshine. >> you bet, me too. >>
