Summer's nearing its end and as musicians come home from the festival season of the summer there are lots and lots of wonderful opportunities to hear great music coming up in the area tonight I'm going to focus on just 2 of these opportunities with a bit of a preview show the Berkeley all time music convention is coming up in just a few weeks this is the 1st I've heard of it the music convention is a 5 day festival with concerts workshops jam sessions and square dances at the news all over Berkeley it's being held between September 18th and September 22nd and stay tuned to hear from many of the great acts who are taking part this year but 1st before the Berklee old time music convention Laurie Lewis will be hosting her fabulous annual birthday bash. On Friday September 13th Laurean a star studded lineup will be paying tribute to the father of bluegrass and playing his great music this year it's my understanding that she wants to put a spotlight on the role Sally and Forrester played an early Bluegrass Boys recordings. So she's invited Elise Levy to join in on accordion I always like to start out this show with some old bluegrass recording or 2 so I'd like to kick off this set with Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys quote unquote featuring Sally and Forester on accordion with True Life Blues.
