And welcome to The New News Hi Mary Jane Fabio It's Monday did you did you move your clock back if you are in trouble today. It's still weird a little bit it's not as weird as a spring because we fall back so we kind of gain an hour not that we do anything with it other than play longer because you have an extra hour to do that but in the in the spring you lose an hour or so it feels I think a little different but anyway make sure you turn your clock back because otherwise everybody's going to be on an hour different than you are anyway welcome it is November the 4th and this is kind of interesting King Tut's tomb was discovered at Scuse me a Luxor Egypt by British archaeologist Howard Carter after several years of searching the child king in common became Pharaoh at age 19 and died about $1352.00 b.c. At the age of 19 so he went around very long the tomb was mostly intact containing numerous priceless items that are now exhibited in Egypt national museum in Cairo saw a little bit of that when we were in Las Vegas at the Luxor and they had a display out there it's fascinating but you know so many people they see it was there all kinds of you know indications that there were some problems with the people who found them like they died in old terrible death etc Yes you know there were curses on the different graves of the Pharaohs during that time but I thought it was kind of interesting because it's still fascinated because with all this gold and and it was well preserved so that was another one we got a lot to talk about today with that news weather sports business as we always do Chris nave from the Eagle run c.h.p. With us and you know the couple Chris 1st of all nice to have you as always love being here I got to tell you you know there's a couple of things that we've talked about before we've all experienced some of this before too so it's not like we're talking about something that alien or something that no one has experience we've all experienced drowsy driving Yes and you just showed me a picture that was it was unbelievable Yeah that was in fact as a part of my phone so I could look at it so it kind of. For fun is wrong word to use it's a it's exact timing I guess is you know this week is drowsy driving pressure away because we're calling it so now this whole week but on last Friday we had a big rig driver. Fell asleep behind the wheel and he ran into the back of another big rig but the impact from the collision you know if you're familiar with big rigs you know the bed or you know the cab of the big rig sits just right above the engine well the whole entire cabin got pushed back about 10 feet including the engine including the engine because he just got he got in underneath the you know the rear of a trailer in front of them another big rig and it forced everything back and yeah a good 10 feet at least and that was Friday morning I showed up at work and had to go straight to that where that happened that was eastbound 80 just west of Blue Canyon of all places still going up the mountain but that's bad enough the driver was on the one bigger it was on the shoulder. And getting ready to pull out he'd stop the rest he's going to pull out this the other driver fell asleep and then just pontoon the rear end of them fortunately he was not injured well too bad he may have broken his leg but it's not as easy as you could see from the impact that I showed you he's lucky he's lucky that's only Gads I know because it could have been a whole lot worse so yeah so you just never know in so that ties into this week with the drowsy driving wrenching week so our data shows that 7000 collisions involving sleepier 50 drivers in each of the last 3 years those closures was old and death of 73 people in California in 201647 in 201-747-2018 Those are the proven ones those are the ones that had been a lot more you know I'm sure there's plenty more planned or so and you know we get me on this a lot better just it just keeps happening over and over and over we try to you know we're all going to handle Don that's right area right turn the radio pinch I mean well and we're all good I've been guilty of it just be anybody tired so but what I've learned what. I've learned over the years from going to crash of a crash not to crash is to not try and find it worth it to actually it's just not worth it it's like it's like the individual who thinks they can you know drink alcohol the regrettable we had another DUI fatal this weekend so it wasn't the driver that with the DUI that was that was bailed out it was the passenger of course so you know you know you just keep harping on the stuff and it just keeps happening so will just keep harping on and she keep pushing the message pushing this all to get you know if we can reach water to people who do right next door you know if you start feeling that way pull off get off of him in a parking lot so yeah if after you get off the highway just rest for a while some time 5 minutes is all you need you know what I found for me I'll just pull off at a gas station go inside I'll grab something I'll grab something that I'll just anything just to get myself alert again and whether it be a diet soda or whatever or whatever you need but but just getting out of that vehicle and walking around getting the blood flowing a little bit is a big deal and it helps a lot to go right or take that nap that you that you need to take because there's just not worth it to be I mean gosh I wish I should have sent you these photos posted them but yeah the impact from this big rig into the other and we had we actually had 2 big rig drivers law sleep this weekend 2 crashes so. It's not just the bigger drivers it's all of us and these long stretches of road that we have appear going to Reno go in from Reno to Sacramento or the bay area wherever you go on it's very easy it can happen very easily and if they're you know driven mad over and over and over again it gets doggone boring it does it gets to be monotonous and you get complacent about what you don't like I said I'm guilty of it I've I've driven several miles before I thought geez I don't remember the last of remodels I just drove in that right because I believe that you know I'm not a man and yeah you're going automatic mode you're off in your own little world and you know you do some Think about that stuff so. Yeah you just whatever you can do just. The Awake that's the key here right yeah and some time and I know it's not necessarily going to happen but it's a good idea sometimes if you have a Bluetooth so it's hands free right talking to somebody will wake you up a little bit to write that's a good idea you know it my wife got one of those Bluetooth things in her car that she can talk without hands free speech and I don't she's not on the phone or you know. I have this probably isn't the best advice but I have called her when she's driving just to make sure because I know she's hands free to make sure that she's doing Ok and games like that so that's a great idea that read it and just want to get your attention again you're thinking again instead of being on automatic you're talking to somebody so you know you don't want that to be a distraction but if you're sleepy that's not a distraction when. You're right in our studies show that sleeping driving has the same effect as DUI driving so if. You know your struggle to stay alert that's a problem when you're driving it you know a big vehicle and so we want to make sure we can try to prevent that now car seats very important if you know that kid let's you got to me but unfortunately sometimes people will install a car seat as not install right yeah that happens quite often we have the cursor to stall wrong or the child is not properly secure in the sea so again the c.h.p. Is renewing its efforts to ensure children are safely secured while drivers traveling through California so it's a year long. Grant that we have to try to focus on making sure that people are put in the car seats and right the kids are in right. It's going to run for like a city year and focus on reducing the number of unrestrained and properly or string children killed in traffic collision struck so we'll be having educational seminars classes child safety seat events or do inspections if you just call the office any office you can get an appointment will come inspect your child see will well he looks all of them really well if they break. But the Yankees in that were just what check all that stuff so just to make sure that there were improperly some quips that she had met with you to look at that always helps it's a big deal to have the kid because people understand a lot of times how to secure the child in the vehicle Ok so with just some quick reminder sirrah because the laws always change people forget Yeah so the California law requires a child to properly trained in appropriate child seat in the rear seat of a vehicle until they are at least 8 years old children 8 age 8 and older. Who are at least 4 feet 9 inches may ride in the rear seat of a vehicle in a properly fitted seat belt regular seat belt regular seat belt so for feet 9 inches used to be weight now it's height Ok children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear facing child seat until they reach 40 pounds or 40 inches in height 40 inches long but it's more important that we secure the head and neck then worry about how uncomfortable their legs might be hurting injuring your legs doesn't kill you injuring your neck and head does Ok so that's our focus is the keep the head and neck the weakest part of the baby or an infant is the next so we need to keep that secure Ok for the vet and best protection all children should ride rear facing as long as possible until they reach the upper waiting limits for their vehicles so just a reminder for parents to keep up to speed on the laws make sure they're secure I know a lot of folks think especially in our area you know it's just a couple miles to school I don't need to secure him in that great well that's when the bad things happen and we don't want to be that one individual that happens to so make sure you get those little critters and they're properly and secure Yeah and just one of those things that it just takes my checking with you guys you know you show me how to do it you know all of you do it for you put it in you know the whole idea is to educate the parents so so they can do it and the grandparents and we get a lot of grandparents actually come in because the grandkids will be in town for the weekend I want to know and if you have a bad child see we have child seats on hand at our offices and we will actually replace a bad child so we don't we don't just give away free but we will exchange a bad one for a good want because we'd rather you just I don't want you to have a bad seat and if you've been in a collision then that child seat needs to be thrown out either some feet that are better than others. That's hard to tell Yeah but there's so many of them and then there's so many different versions and variations that's where the confusion for a lot of people comes in Personally me having this my children are old and going well so it's been a long time since I've had a child see my car but I was like the ones that had that that. You could strap it right into the bracket that was already in the in the seat itself the pull pull the child seat out but I don't want to I don't want to point you but in any direction because everyone has a preference it just depends on your car too right now that's big too because these cars nowadays are so small you can't fit in there so but I'm glad you mention that you will always if you have one child put them in that middle seat don't put them on the side seats put them in the middle and that will protect them more against the side impact Oh yeah you know but always check your car specifications you seat specifications how to fit in a car with it has to be tethered seat belted all that stuff so and then we will help you with that if you need help that's what you're on that that's fantastic because if again it can be confusing very confusing Oh get out of this you know seat and they go all these directions and right I can understand directions anyway right right so you know they train their secure bus up to speed on that stuff so you know questions will well answer because they're changing all the time and thought I was right people on top of that you're on top of it thanks so much Chris thank you Chris named go run c.h.p. And it's that time again time to check out what's happening in the sports scene and you know who does that this is a guy who is on top of anything that has to do with sports that's Kacey for a lot Well they do and I'm I'm confident in the u.s. Of course loves boards love this time of year and love our crowds boy we had a huge listening audience on Friday for the placer versus Lincoln game of course a traditional rivalry from some old friends out there in Lincoln I don't get to talk to all that all the time and even our pal a doctor Bill Kirby I believe was on vacation in Hawaii was streaming us and listening so cool they all got to hear placer win 35 to 21 so the Hilman undefeated Foothill Valley League champions at 5 in 08 and 2 overall when they are in the sack walking section Division 3 playoffs now. This is what's so impressive the sack walking section's been around for a long time and we had a 1st this weekend as a playoff seedings were announced the entire Foothill Valley league all 6 teams that's a Ponderosa placer Nevada Union Oakmont real Linda and Lincoln all qualified for the playoffs Can you believe that talk about a talented league from a lot of the worst record in was 5 and 50 for him and these are not huge schools we're talking about here right they're not and they all at the plate each other so it makes it even that more present you could get you could finish with a $500.00 or better record placers the 2 seed in Division 3 real in a pick themselves up a one seed in Division 4 and it's going to now it's on I mean no more cupcake games again schools that you're supposed to be now it's you know playing for the ultimate prize at Sac walking section banner and a chance to go on to well the state championship games of course so placers journey will not start this Friday they have earned a bye yet is good and they'll be back next Friday night so Dave and I'll be with you here from Auburn for the next 2 weeks I mean knock on wood as we win yeah and the 2nd championship game I believe will be held Saturday after Thanksgiving fantastic well and you know. I'm an Indiana University graduate right guess what they're going to go to a ball or they go bowling for the 2nd time in 50 years or whatever I did my forever they beat Northwestern they did this weekend now the thing is if they can win at least I think that's numbers 6 or 7 that they've got so they've got to win like 8 I thought they got a couple more that they they could possibly win not Michigan and I don't well there he played Ohio State right so that we're about that an hour and produce this you know that's a chance with Purdue a that's kind of an iffy thing well I mean I went to a basketball school in l.v. That yeah isn't very good at football and I mean let's be honest Indiana is a basketball school that has been very good at football so whenever they get a chance go bowling get excited as an alumni Yeah let's go think they're going to go to a ball I don't know where oh maybe I don't come out to California who knows that the front got a cool you know they got so many bowls I can't keep track of them anymore oh well I will have fun of that when the you know the fruit bowl at all I always thought they should have the 2000 Flushes toilet bowl when that makes sense of the bowl game so cool how about another bowl you know the east of the Emerald Nuts bowl down in San Francisco but I think the people in San Francisco may have not allergies were allergic to the now if they change it to something so ridiculous they were talking about Indiana let me ask your thoughts on this I'm sure you heard Team Penske is buying well be the high low grounds there in Indiana the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been sold to Roger Penske team after 74 years of being owned by the home and family so Roger is basically going to hang it up as far as you know engineering and doing all that stuff and run this track I know you've been there and for folks that haven't been I've only seen it on television I mean what's it like the 1st time you step on of those grounds and you see a car going to 100 mph it is is it kind of a spooky feeling because. You're in with all these other people and everybody is you know going crazy and the 500 is just extraordinary and everybody you know kind of that's their dream to be able to make it to the Super Bowl of racists and. When the whole city turns black and white checkers downtown they've got this this fountain in the middle of Indianapolis and that whole thing is nothing but black and white checkers for like a week before they do parades they do all kinds of events etc but to walk into that place just just being there and the immense size of that thing and then the roaring of those engine I mean it is something else the most exciting the beginning in the end of course as well the book comes out at the end they start dumping milk all over the winner and and the other thing is the. Point not the playoffs I was going to say Were they kind of go through their qualifying all that yeah the qualifiers The couple weeks before that's cool because I mean though that's a very very you know small group of people that are going to make it from all the ones that keep trying but it's just an amazing places put it that way. Well I'm sure Roger Penske won't won't steer you on new and he better on a long time yeah the Cleveland Browns today folks I'm sure of all this over the weekend wave safety Jermaine Whitehead this morning just hours after he posted profanity laced and threatening comments on social media following Sunday's loss of Denver Cleveland you stink I told you they're going to stink before the c.f.r. Did you know how to win 6 and they can we can officially say they suck I'm sorry they do well basically Broncos tight end though a fan just ran right over white on his way to a 75 yard touchdown yesterday so shortly after the game ended basically one of the analysts took a shot at it at Whitehead said look you know you get paid to play gotta pay better play better Yeah well why did Rowe come out come get it in blood bleep ass made little ass boy I'm out here with a broken man don't get smoke I'm going to kill you I believe that's on blood it's this guy on Twitter when you're on Twitter millions of people can see what you're saying you've got to remember you're a professional athlete and no matter what some dummy in a booth says about you it's not worth jeopardizing the millions of dollars you stand to lose that possible that they can arrest somebody with that threat I mean that is about as threatening as a gets Now why did later took to Instagram to apologize for his performance but not for the tweets saying crazy world they lined it up and say anything in the book to you they tell you to take the high road when your whole life you was taught to meet fire with fire I apologize for my performance but I've been a broken man I'm a strong fear of let my team down is my downfall ain't trippin but then he at the end says keep your head up homie can't nobody bleat with you I dare them to try so this is what he's got a broken hand why did you play exactly what are you doing in the game and again with the tell they have on paper how are you losing to a Broncos team that's playing with their backup quarterback it's really about everything yeah the whole thing is a betters and they they on paper have literally like an all star line of especially on off and they can do anything they stink I mean I'm sorry they're the worst to win team in the n.f.l. Let's just say that amazing. Well we'll see what happens and I would think that's a threat that you can read threatening I will kill you yeah you can say that exactly. Like that Lastly careful of how you celebrate because Bubba Bolden was celebrating from Miami after the team won over Florida State 27 to 10 but as he was celebrating an interception late in the game he came down awkwardly on his ankle and well he broke it so he's out for the rest of the year he's up there celebrated already done you know he's already picked it up and he basically ended his season we've seen this too before in sports not the 1st time I told you about guys that we always worry about those home plate celebrations with a ball because you got a crowd a dude you can step on somebody say well this guy did it and so now he's out for the you know calm down no you know running their careers Yeah you got it just so just way you put the ball down there to get your recognition on t.v. You had intercepted Yes that's the home of the turnover change at the big old Jane in Miami I mean you know you get a pick a visiting today with a Placer County District Attorney Scott Owen So stay tuned for that we've got a full show tonight now we're going to talk about something that United talked about off the air there is so much divisiveness in that in our country going on right now and hate it look at Talk about a cure for hate I love that for getting you have come and maybe just a tiny little pill or something we can all get together and stop saying it and kill said exactly where you reference that. Casey 4 to 6 I'll be back with you at 6 pm the pop off radio to have a great afternoon. At him one of 4.53 c.n.n. Auburn and I am 980 child for.
