It sucks it's really in the budget proposal blows out the spending basically the only justification by Republicans is we need to sign on to much mucho spending we need to do all of that so we can get more defense spending and listen I'm all in favor of more defense spending also you guys control the Senate and the presidency what a certain point it would be great if you could sign a budget that doesn't stock that would be awesome in fact just a few months ago you controlled the House and the Senate and the presidency and you still couldn't do a budget that didn't suck and that's not just the senators and the members of the house that's the president that was on President from because President Trump has now twice gone over the heads of the people in his own party in order to negotiate directly with Nancy Pelosi and Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer Now notice he is the minority leader wouldn't that be the person you don't negotiate with but whatever almost a done deal apparently according to Politico g.o.p. Leaders with some help from President Trump are scrambling to round up Republican support for a 2 year 2.7 trillion dollars budget deal as the House moves toward a vote on the package Thursday afternoon top Republicans believe only a fraction of their conference will support the legislation hammered out during weeks of negotiations between Speaker Nancy Pelosi and treasury secretary Steve Nugent g.o.p. Insiders estimate that as little as one 3rd of the 197 member g.o.p. Conference will back the measure of of the vote tally is still fluid and used to be something in the Republican Caucus called the Hastert rule now Denny Hastert is disgraced it should probably be titled something else but it was called the Hastert rule the Hastert rule is that Republicans would not move on any proposal that a majority of the caucus do not approve So in other words if you had $200.00 Republicans at least $101.00 of them had to approve the proposal or the Republicans would not move on the actual proposal no longer now minority of Republicans enough to move the caucus on all of this with g.o.p. Leaders facing strong opposition from rank and file members over the package from tweeted out his support for the legislation on Thursday morning. House Republicans he tweeted should support the 2 year budget agreement which greatly helps our military and our vets I am totally with you but House Minority Whip Steve schoolies didn't sound particularly optimistic that Trump's tweets would move many votes he said it helps but we've heard from a lot of members who say they're voting no no matter what it may help with some of the members who are on the fence now when I talk to folks who are in the House and in the Senate all the time the vacillations of President from certainly do not help when it comes to them deciding how to vote because he may embrace a policy today and then hear blowback and then undercut the people who voted for the policy tomorrow but from Seems like it's coming out pretty loud and proud 1st that makes sense politically and a political level this makes some sense why because on a political level it pushes the entire problem of the budget beyond the election and that's what Trump is really worried about it Scully says I don't think it was ever realistic that a majority of the g.o.p. Conference would get behind the budget deal he said but we're working to build the numbers to help with up support schoolies convened a conference call on Thursday morning with Trump and a number of g.o.p. Members still on the fence during the call trying made a hard sell to Republicans he assured them that he would remain supportive of the deal and vowed to back them up if they walk the plank now the president's got a bit of a credibility problem there considering that there are multiple times where he has pulled out the rug from underneath Republicans yes I'm going to negotiate yes and no no negotiations or alternatively I'm definitely not negotiate on this stand tall with me I guess I'll negotiate one member who did announce or support for the agreement is a g.o.p. Conference chair woman Liz Cheney which is sort of a shock she said I support the budget it's not a deal I would have done it's not a deal we would do if we were in the majority it shows you why elections matter well that's not true it is a deal you did do when you were in the majority Donald Trump just signed a budget like this a year ago the Republicans held a majority in the house it was brought up for a vote. The Republican study committee and House Freedom caucus 2 major groups within the conference both are opposed to the measure which increases Pentagon and domestic spending by $320000000000.00 over the budget caps also suspending the debt ceiling until at least July 31st 2021 So again the excuse year is going to be pushed beyond the election once we're beyond the election then a lame duck President Trump he'll bring in the horses and we'll get a better budget done except that one last time a lame duck president did anything truly that wasn't just an executive action Barack Obama didn't do anything legislative late as last term George w. Bush did not do anything legislatively in his last term Trump is basically going to have to hope I suppose that he gets a majority in the house and a majority in retains that majority in the Senate and then he can ram through legislation that he likes but for those of us who actually worry about you know blowing up the budget every single year for political reasons this is not good your impoverishing future generations and the bill will come due today the governor of Puerto Rico resigned and he resigned allegedly because he was under fire for these series of text messages that were ugly and vicious he was also under fire because a couple members of his administration had been indicted for corruption in reality it's because being at the top of Puerto Rico's government is pretty much on workable they declared bankruptcy in 2017 that means that there's not a lot of room to move what are going to blow up the spending again we're going to get the money for that you take austerity measures in your own population is angry at you Well that's where this is going because within the decade by the end within one decade by the end of 20282029 the vast majority of Americans massive social safety net will be bankrupt will not be bringing in the kind of money necessary to pay for it and nobody is making provision for this Democrats don't want to because they're demagoguing the issue and Republicans don't want to because they're afraid of Democrats demagoguing the issue Representative Mike Johnson who is the chairman of the Republican Study conference. He said For too long Congress has dodged its responsibility to provide fiscally sound solutions that will ensure the continued security and prosperity of our nation as the largest caucus of conservatives in Congress as the Republican Study Committee is Judy to insist upon better stewardship and to oppose irresponsible efforts to raise discretionary limits now again there is something it's a little bit false about this debate I think the budget sucks but that said the budgets suckage is really not about the discretionary spending because that's not what's bankrupting the country if you removed the vast overages due to social security Medicare Medicaid would be in fiscally sound shape as it is we are our budget our national debt is about 106 percent of our g.d.p. Which is a very ugly number and it's going the wrong direction Pelosi said we're going to have a majority for the bill we want to be bipartisan outside pressure is also intensifying the Chamber of Commerce is urging House lawmakers to vote for the budget agreements warning that the organization will consider including votes on our legislation in our annual how they voted score card why well because a lot of big business wants to ensure that the money keeps flowing even if that money is coming from nowhere right now everybody is worried about the stock market is more concerned about the stock market than they are about the future of the national debt progressives will probably rally around Pelosi according to Politico the Congressional Progressive Caucus released a statement in support of the deal progressive support began to trickle out on Wednesday as well represented from Paul who's head of an adjunct to the squad told Politico she was leaning toward a yes votes under the deal defense programs would see a 3 percent hike in fiscal 2020 topping off at 738000000000 dollars domestic programs would increase 4 percent over current levels to a total of $632000000000.00 which includes $2500000000.00 for the $21.00 census the agreement kluges only 77000000000 dollars in offsets which doesn't even come close to paying for what exactly we're talking about right now and again. One of the reasons that the trumpet ministration I think is moving forward on this is because of worries about an economic slowdown We'll get to that in just a 2nd 1st quick reminder folks next month we are taking our backstage show on the road for a special one night only event August 21st the beautiful terrace the air in Long Beach California ideally where God can germy boring Andrew Klavan Michael Moore's we will all be there live and we'll be talking politics pop culture we'll be answering your questions from the audience so make them good tickets are on sale right now daily Wired dot com slash backstage including our limited v.i.p. Economic growth last quarter to match the slowest pace of Donald Trump's presidency with robust consumer keeping things from looking even worse gross domestic product figures are due Friday in May show business investment posted the 1st decline in 3 years which of course would be very bad news some of that has to do with the trade war we are currently fighting with China g.d.p. Rose 1.8 percent on an annualized basis in the 2nd quarter which is the slowest since 27 the 2nd Obama growth rate net exports and inventories probably took a substantial bite in the April through June period unwinding gains from the 1st quarter in other words people bought a lot of stuff in an attempt to beat the tariffs and now the tariffs are kicking in and people are buying less stuff the g.d.p. Report isn't likely to make much difference in a widely anticipate into anticipated Federal Reserve move next week to cut interest rates by a quarter point the fact that the Federal Reserve which just 6 months ago was talking about raising rates is now talking about cutting rates shows uncertainty inside the federal government about the future of the economy here if the economy slows at all Trump has serious problems and that's probably one of the big reasons why he's not fighting on the budget but that does demonstrate once again that Republicans have short term vision and not long term vision James put the kook us. Who is a scholar over American Enterprise Institute has a good piece over at the week today called the G.O.P.'s stupid swoon for big government he says Talk about a dirty job it's tough back breaking work trying to manufacture a coherent economic philosophy and agenda out of the raw materials of Trump anomic $950.00 s. And stalled the trade protectionism a belief that real jobs are factory jobs and a summary dismissal of economics a right wing populus have set themselves up for the task at a recent national conservatism conference in Washington which by the way provided some very interesting thought one of the less interesting thought was a resolution calling for the us would drop an industrial policy which makes sense only politically because a lot of blue collar folks are benefited by such subsidies so the new conservative agenda would apparently include taxes spending subsidies regulation and tariffs to resurrect the postwar American economy built around making stuff or in cast author of The Once and Future American worker he argued in a recent essay that manufacturing provides particularly well paying stable employment especially for men with less formal education and the argument I guess of the Germany and Japan both did this manufacturing output is only 12 percent of g.d.p. In America it's 19 percent in Japan 23 percent in Germany but that doesn't actually answer the question as to whether this is good policy overall as pentacle just points out it may actually indicate an inefficient economy where policy nudges labor and capital away from their more productive uses more to the point whatever Japan and Germany have been doing in recent decades has not created a protective bubble around their manufacturing sector industrial policy can't shield economies from powerful and global macro economic forces in fact there was an attempt to build up the manufacturing sector in Japan in the eighty's and people thought oh well Americans in Syria America is in serious trouble Japan has since experienced a lost decade the 1990 s. . Germany is also an off point examples was perfect because when Germany's economy minister suggested creating a state investment fund to preempt the foreign takeover of German firms earlier this year some of his fellow party politicians accused him of betraying the party's free market principles So in other words maybe this is not going to work in there are serious problems with the sort of policy being promoted now is Trump actually pursuing that sort of policy with alacrity I don't think so I think that he has basically been free market for the most part with that said stacking debt on top of debts stacking subsidies on top of subsidies stacking tariffs or it's not about national security and where you lie to the American people and you tell them that tariffs are not going to damage the economy instead of just telling them listen tariffs they're going to hurt but we have to fight the Chinese now we're going to be fighting them later and it can be a lot worse later that's a that's a case for tariffs a case for tariffs is not it will help the American economy. All of this is pointing in a net negative direction the indicators the economic indicators are still pretty positive for the future but is it is growth going to be as fast as it has been for the last couple of years that is still very very doubtful right Coming up Attorney General William Barr has announced that the federal government will resume capital punishment for the 1st time since 2003 lot of people very upset about this today I however am not I will explain why this is the bench Paracha. Saturday mornings at 9. Am and 50. Homes in the movie. Welcome back says the bench I think there are serious questions about the application of the death penalty whether it is fair whether it is applied evenly whether it is applied often enough or quickly enough people living on death row for 30 years in plush conditions. However there are certain people who deserve to die and this is where Attorney General Bill Barr is correct he said there is that the federal government will resume capital punishment will move for with plans to execute 5 inmates on death row for the 1st time in more than 15 years he said Congress has explained expressly authorize the death penalty through legislation adopted by the people's representatives in both houses of Congress and signed by the president he added under administrations of both parties the d.o.j. Has sought the death penalty against the worst criminals including these 5 murderers each of whom was convicted by a jury of his peers after a full and fair proceeding this is the thing if you want to argue against the efficacy of the death penalty I'll hear it if you argue against the application of the death penalty all here if you want to argue that something that no one deserves to be put to death for crimes there we part ways let me bring you the case of Daniel Louis Lee He's scheduled to be executed on December 9th Lee is a white supremacist who was convicted in May 1909 of murdering a family of 3 including an 8 year old girl after robbing and shooting the victims of a stun gun Lee covered their heads of plastic bags sealed the bags with duct tape weighed down each victim with rocks and threw the family of 3 into an Illinois by you according to the is that guy deserves to be living No he does not have Lesmond Mitchell Mitchell was convicted in 2003 of stabbing to death a 63 year old grandmother and according to the g o j forcing her 9 year old granddaughter to sit beside her lifeless body for a 30 to 40 mile drive at which point Mitchell than killed the girl by sweating her throat crushing her head with 20 pound rocks and then buried both victims heads and hands after severing them so that I seem like like I want to hear a solid case against the death penalty for that guy now don't give me the whole Well you know you're against abortion so why are you for the death penalty because babies don't chop the heads and hands off people and then bury them in ditches after smashing their after smashing or chopping them to death that's why they would be why adults can incur guilt children in the womb not so much. Every life has value and you forfeit the value of your life when you do this sort of stuff going to this is why I can never be completely abolitionist on the death penalty in principle again when it comes to the efficacy or usefulness of the death penalty I hear but here is the truth and one of the reasons for the death penalty they're very they're very good reasons for punishment criminal law reason number one is that you are attempting to do something that is effective so you put people in jail to keep them off the streets so they don't commit for their crimes or you execute somebody because you don't want them committing for their crimes which by the way does happen you judge people on death row who will kill a guard or something that's reason number one reason number 2 is that you are attempting to participate in some sort of read tribute of justice and that is the job of the government originally the way that justice was carried out is somebody would kill somebody in your family and then you would go to their family and kill somebody and their family gang warfare tribal warfare still takes place this way handing the state a monopoly on violence and then well in the states will apply the monopoly on violence can only work if everybody is satisfied that the state is sufficiently participating in retribution for the crime at hand this is why we don't treat every crime exactly the same right would not be just to give somebody the death penalty for shoplifting it certainly would be just to give Wesley Ira Pearcy the death penalty Pearcy was convicted in 2003 of raping and murdering a 16 year old girl before dismembering burning and dumping the girl's body in a septic pond he was also convicted in state court for using a quad hammer to bludgeon to death an 80 year old woman who suffered from polio and walked with a cane now the majority of the people who are going to be executed here are white there's always worries about the disproportionality black people being executed Latino being Latino people being executed more often it really should be about what is the crime committed not about the race obviously. In the one of the people who will be executed under the new judgment from William Barr is a piece of human debris named Alfred Borgia was convicted in 2004 of torturing sexually molesting and beating to death his own 2 and a half year old daughter again you're going to need to make the case to me why that should not be a thing there are some people who think that in the future people will look at the death penalty and think it brutal all the way through and there are also some people who go out of their way to completely misread the 10 Commandments when it says Do not murder in the 10 Commandments that does not say Do not kill in the 10 Commandments people completely misread the Hebrew and the word in Hebrew is not enough to go biblical on you but what is the word if you want to say don't kill under any circumstance would be low to be a completely different word it means do not murder it is not murder when you are killing somebody who has shed blood it's so good for William Barr he is correct on this and if anybody has a case that these men are innocent happy to hear it otherwise I think that we should all be on the same page these guys should die they do not belong living the same life that you and I live they do not belong breathing the same air as the families of their victims so a piece of good news and upbeat Ok. In other in other news this is this is weird news for sure Amanda Preston Giacomo writing for Daily Wire says concern over the so-called drag queen story our events hosted at libraries across the country were reignited earlier this month when photos of young children laying on top of adult male drag queens were exposed the photos were posted on a Flickr account from Oklahoma County Library located in Portland Oregon they've since been deleted news preserve the images of Facebook user posted I wouldn't let my kids crawl on top of random strangers no matter how they were dressed The Post said even as a day camp counselor 15 years ago we were pretty carefully trained about not giving kids piggy back rides letting them sit on our laps if they asked for hugs or to go sideways approach foundries provide safety their form of love. Multnomah County library's marketing and online and agent director Jeremy Graybill said the Labrador floods on the feedback that members of the community have offered with regard to the photos what wonderful enriching activities for the children not only watching drag queens at age 564 but also then lying on top of adults dressed in drag can see how this goes wrong anyway and coming up we have the ratings from the blockbuster Miller hearings they're going to blow it out they were so important they were world shifting world changing the downfall of Donald Trump not so much is the bench. Remember that time like 5 minutes ago when the media were all hot and bothered about the Robert Mueller hearings just yesterday as you recall and yet it seems it's gone no one's talking about it anymore why not could it be that Robert Mueller in the in the parlance 1st coined by William Shakespeare the bad is not possible. So according to The Hollywood Reporter nobody watched. The special counsel's testimony before Congress brought in a smaller audience than some other reasons televised hearings 7 and a half hours of hearings from 8 15 am to 3 45 pm Eastern for an average of just under 13000000 viewers on a.b.c. C.b.s. N.b.c. And Fox News and m.s. N.b.c. That fall short of Michael Collins testimony which drew about 16000000 viewers and . In 27 scene of course James Komi appeared before Congress that attracted 1000500000 viewers and Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation averaged 20000000 viewers Fox lead of course because Fox always does 3000000 viewers for the hearings Imus and b c $2.00 followed by a.b.c. N.b.c. C.b.s. And finally bringing up the rear as per usual arrangement c.n.n. As far as the key news demographic of adults 25 to 54 n.b.c. Lead followed by a.b.c. Than Fox News Fox News skews particularly old when it comes to some of these streaming events nonetheless nobody watched this thing overall not a lot of people watched this thing why because it was a giant fail it was a giant fail now the media are trying to portray it is not a giant fail they're trying to portray this thing as just an absolute win for the Democrats and that's kind of a hard pitch to make because it kind of sucked I mean the fact is that that Robert Mueller did not perform as kind of this stalwart denizen of the law a man who was going to bring the wood to the trumpet ministration and said he went in there he's like read the report and it was like well didn't you say on page 3 of the report is like I remember I don't know man I know I'm here Get Me Out Of Here now is the entire hearing for 1000000 hours but it is incumbent on members of the media to try to spin this thing as much as possible and some of the spin is pretty spectacular For example here's a piece of spin from Ron not Omeri Oddie for Politico magazine quote actually Robert Muller was awesome sure shirted maybe just to find awesome differently he said from my perspective after 6 hours of testimony it was the 74 year old career prosecutor and law enforcement officer who won the day it wasn't that close. Mahler's down the Middle East free handling of the high stakes investigation was an object lesson a professional object lesson in professionalism and Wednesday's performance was no difference yeah sure Meanwhile on c.n.n. They're like you know what we need to ignore the optics let's focus on the substance which is a Larry is coming from c.n.n. Which for 2 long years focused only on the optics of what was happening around Trump and never on the substance every piece of news was a breaking piece of news it became a running joke when I was of the German was watching c.n.n. Wolf Blitzer would come on you know he's saying in breaking news and he's never breaking news it's just something that happened c.n.n. Played this thing up they held another disappointed in their stead because Robert Muller who was supposed to be the day of sex Makena that exit from office in the military allies here is one c.n.n. Commentator Franklin guys ignore the optics focus on the substance listen if you want to focus on the substance we wouldn't have had the hearings would we. If you want to focus on the substance let me refer you to a report called The Mole report it is 448 pages long it is available for you and everyone else to read nonetheless Or is the c.n.n. Commentator trying to spin this thing the idea that his written answers were not truthful is going to skew and having lived through the Clinton period where you know very much most of what they focused on was the fact that in a deposition he wasn't completely honest and that was enough to impeach him I think there's going to be as the dust settles the people who matter which we talked about yesterday partisans have made up their mind it's the people in the middle This was news to them yesterday and as it sinks and I think the the Trump people will be a little more sanguine and I don't think the president will be but this was not a this was not a win yesterday and right or wrong. Lead a bit wrong just not correct just not true so you know they they're going to keep claiming this thing the best moment of this was even called There's a last night even called their head on Chris Wallace from Fox News alum Chris Wallace was a great and Chris Wallace had said earlier in the day that this was a giant fail for the Democrats that they tried to get Trump they failed to get Trump and it was in essence a giant fail and so Stephen called there was beside himself last night he did an entire monologue about how terrible the Republicans are. And then he brought in Chris Wallace and Chris Wallace had said earlier it was a disaster for Democrats and a disaster for Miller's reputation and hope there was like that's not true and Chris Wallace like watch me skunk you on your own show my friend. This has been a disaster for the Democrats and a disaster for the reputation of Robert Muller Now you said that at 10 o 7 this morning an hour and a half into a 6 hour series of hearings so was Fox News motto we report and decide for the things over. There was a break in the hearing yes we were asked for our reaction and let me simply say nothing in your monologue just proved that description what was a disaster I don't understand yes. Christie Wallace Well Loki slam Ah I don't enjoy that clip I love that clip so much it's one of my favorite clips you've ever played on this show it is so fantastic because it's called there being sneering in snide Ingrid to it is Fox News His motto is that we provide that we decide in the facts coming later is that they're not yes just leave and go that's their motto yes and Wallace I mean talk about a guy who really is in control of himself there if somebody said that to me my 1st reaction be like You're such a jerk you wouldn't ask that to any sort anybody from c.n.n. Ever it doesn't matter what kind of propaganda they push out there but Wallace is just like no you know there was a break in the hearing and then we discussed it and nothing changed and you understand you do you're just lying just fantastic work there from Chris Wallace who deserves a medal for that clip alone fan freaking the media as I say could not take it Jimmy Kimmel lost his mind also he's lost his ratings lead to there was a time there were Jimmy Kimmel was scoping the competition and now Stephen Colbert is beating him and so Jimmy Kimmel and cold air are to walk off I won't go off by straight white men which is always awkward there is Jimmy Kimmel yesterday once again suggesting that the Republicans were providing sexual services for the president because you can make any sort of joke so long as it's about Republicans. It really was something watching them defend this but normally when people fall on their knees for Trump like that he pays them a $1130000.00 afterwards you know March 28th. Again the media were trying to turn this into a thing but here's a problem it wasn't a thing it wasn't just the media either obviously it was also a Democratic presidential candidate so Kamel Harris was trying to claim that this the impeachment is not idea meet Don't worry guys sure the impeachment is there but it's not it's happening we're definitely going to make this happen sure Kamel I am very clear that there are outlying incident of obstruction of justice and no matter what this current attorney general and the present United States try to say the American people are smart enough to know what is and what is not true. Well again if Democrats want to go down this path they're welcome to but they're not going to and that's why you're hearing the presidential candidates talk about it they're not hearing answer Pelosi say one word about this Nancy Pelosi is not saying one word about this because she doesn't want to Pietschmann anyone but most Democrats don't Elizabeth Warren's of the same routine. We have to make clear no one is above the law and not even the president of the United States. It is time to bring in charges against in my view the somethings are above politics. And one of them is our constitutional responsibilities to do what is right and the responsibility of the Congress of the United States of America when a president breaks the law is to bring impeachment charges against that president that's pander bear stuff right there lots of Pander bears break out at the Zoo panda bears everywhere and meanwhile Nancy Pelosi again nowhere to be found according to Politico Palosi rebuffs now on impeachment after Miller flop is according to Politico House Judiciary Chairman journal or push to launch impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump during a closed door meeting Wednesday only to be rebuffed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi according to 4 sources familiar with the discussions at a caucus meeting that came after the hotly anticipated testimony of former special counsel Robert Muller never suggested that several House committee chiefs begin drafting articles of impeachment against Trump Pelosi called the idea premature which is her saying Jerry goes down you're being silly mowers appearance was a disappointment to many Democrats mostly convene the Democratic caucus after Miller's appearance before the judiciary and intelligent panels a lengthy animated discussion about the impeachment process followed apparently rank and file lawmakers asked about the technical aspects of impeachment including whether it would require a full vote of the house or could be initiated by the Judiciary Committee now they are said that the committee could launch proceedings on its own Brad Sherman has already tried to file exactly such proceedings. NAVL or counter Palosi is pushback by noting that polls show limited support for removing Nixon from office in 73 but that support for the ever grew as more evidence came out about Nixon's behavior differences that there's been a full scale investigation and no new evidence is coming close instead argued a slow methodical approach she basically like you with your kids or me with my kids but sweetheart I promise what will discuss that later later never comes my kids are too young to listen to this radio show learn these tricks later in life later Ok we'll get to more of this in just one second it is pretty hilarious but it's more than 1st I need to remind you that you can subscribe over daily where that comment means you get all 3 hours of this show on video you get it commercial free in means that you also get a bunch of other shows like Andrew Klavan Sean met Walsh or showed if you want Michael moles the show for some odd reason is going to lock up then you go get Michael Moore's the show do well you know it's there for your entire daily where team has its finger on the pulse of the conservative movement will keep you educated and informed and most newsworthy stories of the day don't wait any longer go to Daily Wire become a subscriber for just $99.00 a month or $99.00 a year when you do the $99.00 a year deal it's cheaper than $99.00 a month I know it doesn't sound like it is but it is and you get the leftist years hot or cold tumbler most beloved tumbler in all the land also when you subscribe are really helping us out because the fact is there are folks on the left who are very much interested in shutting down anyone who disagrees with them you can stop them by joining our team over a Daily Wire dot com Again that's Daily Wire dot com We really appreciate your involvement over here daily Wired dot com Ok so the Democrats were desperately trying to play this off as a victory in most certainly was not a victory and thus the Muller saga reaches its natural end point now is that really going to stop the media from playing this know they think that if they can continue to dog Trump about it then eventually everything will everything will move in their direction and the polls show that Trump is still very vulnerable. There's a study from crystal ball there is about as crystal ball today suggesting that President Trump is running at best 5050 in this race and Joe Biden is the person who's most likely to beat him right now what we're watching is kind of fascinating there's a little bit of a boomlet for Biden again Elizabeth Warren is the one who's really climbs in the polls but what is declining again is is Kamel her she's down to 12 percent in the Real Clear Politics polling average and the latest poll this one comes courtesy of You Gov Harris is not down to 9 percent she's not even double digits in that poll Elizabeth Warren is the one picking up heavy support at 18 percent with Bernie Sanders at 13 so Biden has been falling since he jumped in but it may be a little premature to declare him completely dead he does have some debates next week and he's going to need to perform better a calmer Harris didn't pick up the sort of sustained momentum you would expect after her very good debate showing you're expecting her to continue to build on that instead what you saw was an immediate bump and then a receding to the field kind of fascinating right before the debate Harris was at like 7 percent 6 percent and then right after the debates she jumped all the way up to 15 percent in the Real Clear Politics average and now she's dropped back down to 12 percent and now almost below 12 percent. Well in just a 2nd we're going to get to Joe Biden how Joe Biden is seeking to regain the momentum in this race answer Joe Biden's going to get a lot more aggressive and you know what that's the only path for him he does have to get more aggressive yes to aggressively defend his record and yes he has to appeal to the moderates in his own base he's going to have to pick a side is the bench appear OSHA. Hi. Welcome back to the bench appear as a Joe Biden continues to be the candidate most dangerous for president and that's because he is the least crazy as I've been saying since the day Trump was elected all Democrats have to do is not be crazy so far they've failed signally in it as they've been very very bad at not being crazy Joe Biden. My God I can't believe what I'm about to say the sentence that's about to come out of my mouth Joe Biden is the least crazy Democrat in the field I know Joe Biden crazy old Joe is the least crazy one as nickname is crazy old Joe but he now leads President from a hypothetical matchup non-reality I doubt that he wins Ohio Trump has a very solid base particularly in rural Ohio but he is the only Democratic White House contender leading Trump in a hypothetical Ohio general election matchup according to a poll from Quinnipiac University according to that poll Biden favor a Biden is favored over Trump 50 to 42 surely for this to mean anything but it does give you an indicator of generally where people's heads are at with regard to the Democratic field every other major Democratic candidate is virtually tied with Trump in reality Trump would be ahead of all of those Probably he'd be running a lot closer to Joe Biden in reality from captured 51.3 percent of the vote in Ohio and he got to say 10 electoral votes and 2016 Hillary only got 43 percent former Barack Obama President Barack Obama won the states in 20082012 right now Biden is the best bet against from Without a doubt and he's getting more aggressive so one of the problems in his last debate is for some odd reason he thought everybody was going to be nice to him now that is just allusion he is the front runner of course people aren't going to be nice to him and he's perceived widely as. Old kind of doddering not too quick on his feet well now Biden is saying something different now he's saying listen I'm not going to be quite as polite to Camila Harris as I was in the 1st debate I really let her off easy which is true I did not go after her that is true I should have stood up for myself better also true so aggressive Joe Biden versus Kamel Harris could be a lot of fun in the next debates frankly I'm looking forward to it here's Joe Biden talking about Camila Harris have you and Senator Harris talked since the last situation that she had at the debate. I think I saw her in passing and I think you have to fish fry for Jim Cliburn and said hi to her. We were No I don't know I mean seriously I thought we were friends and we should i hope we still will be you know she asked me to go out and call me and asked me to go to her convention and be the guy from outside of California to nominate her at her convention for the Senate seat i did we talked we worked a lot together she my some lower attorneys general took on the banks Ok so there is a we were friends but I'm not going to be nice to her anymore and now I'm not going to be quite as polite as I once was to come across any shouldn't be quite as polite as he once was to calmly Harris he has to fight for his political life at this point as enough he fumbled during the last debate but he is also slamming her kind of openly on her policies so for example he criticized her on her Medicaid for all program it says Come on what is a fantasy world Biden is also going after Cory Booker So Booker will be on the same stage as Biden for the 1st time and it is pretty obvious that Biden is going to have to go Booker directly as well because Booker has been trying to grab the spotlight for attacking but it's been a fail he hasn't been able to do it this is his big opportunity Booker knows that Biden knows it until Biden is expecting Mr Potato Head to show up with his angry eyes and Biden going to stand for it. America's recruiting new. One producing recruits having the practice of misbehaving this police report rule to stop the frisk the people mostly African roots. We took action use them just portrait action against them overly nice to form an accountable game as opposed to new or gray he goes on to describe how Cory Booker did a bad job in New York Biden is also overhauling his campaign according to The Washington Examiner After self-inflicted wounds from his boasts over decades old work with segregationist senators and the psaltery debate performance Joe Biden is resetting his campaign to confront his Democratic primary rivals the former v.p. Strategy previewed Wednesday night at a Detroit fundraiser marks a dramatic shift from the frontrunners version of a rose garden strategy which was heavy on campaign fundraising in light on taking on his 2 dozen primary rivals who now pledges to attack his rivals head on abandoning his nonaggression campaign promise made in May Biden has overhauled his stump speech to focus on more than a stall for the president under which he served Barack Obama in 36 year Senate veteran is now outlining what his presidency would look like Democrats told the Examiner It was plain Biden was overhauling his approach is reconfiguring his campaign according to Rhode Island Democratic Senator Jack Reed is changing approaches based on the previous debate Democratic consultant Brad Bannon unaffiliated with Steve Benen so that Biden was scared by the last debate and I think the pummeling he took in the 1st round of the debate shocked him and the campaign I think he and his campaign were ready to go there's a straight significant strategy change or the reality is he's in a very competitive race after losing support it's a drastic change things have been going downhill for his campaign since he announced as some of us might have put it his 1st day would be his best day. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois he said he's the front runner you know even he believed he would be a target he was he will be as long as he's the front runner so now he's going to answer he tried to be nice didn't work now he's going to be less polite in his words he said I'm not going to be polite this time so fisticuffs Belen to break out in the next debate so the next Democratic debates they should be a party man I'm really looking forward to it and will be interesting to see if Joe Biden is really willing to stick to his his more moderate politics when I say moderate I mean just completely not insane he's not completely insane is he willing to go up against Harris while the progressive crowd shouts Now how do they pick the crowds at these debates that's a real question because it's very obvious in the last debate that Kamel Harrison had affectively pick the crowd when the crowd was cheering for everything that came out of her mouth Joe Biden could get nothing people to judge got very little from the audience that does make a big difference there's something to be said for the idea that there really should not be a debate audience in these actual debates because people end up playing to the crowd and it's like having a laugh track if you are going to have a crowd then presumably it should be a poll sampled crowd a crowd of people who are not just registered Democrats in the area but who actually match up with the national polling data that would make the most sons would be fascinating to see how all of this plays out as we say the next Democratic primary debates Joe Biden versus Kamel Harris part 2 There's this time Harris land a punch or just Biden strike back we'll find all that out very soon guys that's happening July 31st so less than one week from today we will find out how all of this goes down or will Joe Biden go down and that may be the end for him we'll find out soon enough we'll be back here tomorrow with all the latest news this is the bench here I'll show.
