We believe. And you can get it right. He's been let me in 3 Dr Drew number 30225222. To get you today's Let's go straight out to Michael Santo foreign policy expert we're talking about North Korea you can follow Michael at m.j. Example as a z a n t o r Michael Santo dot com Michael welcome back both thank you very much so what do you make of the North Korean meeting I don't you tell me I don't know what to do it looked pretty impressive it was interesting to me I thought to myself very sort of an insight how Trump's mind work I'm sure he just thought to myself why not why don't I just do that I maybe that will shake the box and get things moving in the right direction but do you accomplish anything well you know I couldn't agree with you more I think you described it really accurately and you know sometimes crazy ideas do work I think that everything that comes out of his mouth is crazy but occasionally and might work but why you know that's a very dangerous question I'm sure you realize we all realize accept but in this case maybe you know we're you know so he's a lot older than the crazy dangerous North Korean leader. I have kind of implies the said before what I believe that trump of kind of a crime that you know he has a bad reputation among serious real estate disasters in New York but you know if you think like what is the typical Trump soccer the supreme leader of North Korea might be sort of that despite being absolutely in some ways in click you're dealing with somebody much older who is in some ways the most powerful man in the world it's scary as that is so maybe this chart looks like it will work he is he is Kim Jong un is his new Merv Griffin Do you remember we went over Merv Griffin for the hotels and. So all of his hotel room are falling up. Art and same kind of not he just does the same thing over and over people shop are surprised by the here he does not support it is Constantine he does flattery he shakes the people I work familiar with the deal that he did with the press corps in New York I think was the Commodore Hotel it became a Hyatt But then the Pritzker paid him off I think to get rid of him. I think there is something oftentimes shady very superficial you know his investment in alternative Football League failed but this could actually work he's giving a p.r. Victory to Kim which is good and bad it's bad because United States tries to not legitimize murderous dictators and unfortunately Donald Trump doesn't care about it it's sort of possibly hopefully good because when Trump assumed office we were facing a very dangerous situation and we are still facing a dangerous situation in the North Koreans a basically troops there on the cusp of developing nuclear tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach anywhere in the I think so this is just gotten very dangerous there isn't a really good obvious solution as the leader of North Korea is insane so why is Donald Trump kind of insane so when Donald Trump was mocking him this rocket man that made people very nervous right again but that's what got them to the table right range from a hike speaking of language yeah it's weird but but let's talk about these nuclear capabilities is there a chance they're going to curtail them or eliminate them or these claim to eliminate them. I mean they claim all kinds of things and repeatedly the North Koreans and the u.s. Temporarily want to serve their interest in that it's in their interest and never forget the element of deception to the American people on the part of President Trump I think it was yesterday he claimed that Kim refused to meet President Obama to refer no president before has accepted. Except as any offer to go to North Korea that's because they haven't engaged in terrorism and they murder their own people they're very pretty but we don't have a good military option so what choice do we have right now but will they actually do anything substantial to disband their nuclear arsenal it doesn't really sound like it at all progress has that made so the president's repeatedly both of these accomplishments in North Korea and in terms of actually using the military threat has done nothing. So this is why President Trump is actually dangerous he's repeatedly expressed interest in various ways of the band in the Elyse he has stopped many many major military exercises South Korea that are intended to boost the ability of the u.s. And South Korean little treats offense against North Korean attacks which could also make the North Koreans see that as weak earth and he's expressed interest to at least his aides possibly pulling forces other from Korea ending our reliance which upin things the unthinkable for decades and I think partly out of ignorance but certainly really fulfilling Putin's wish list of what he would want from a president to undermine our alliances so there is you know this is not the only thing theater that Donald Trump has stuff to but I think it's very important that we realize that there is no guarantee that things that the president does will turn out badly so let's hope for the best start. Michael SANTOW foreign policy expert follow him at m.j. Santo or Michael Santo dot com as e a n t o Let's talk about South Korea and North South reconciliation it seems to me that's the only hope for any long term stability right in terms of picking my question about nuclear capabilities I mean of the Southerners if it starts to look more like South Korea in the north somehow by the South coming in or I don't know what maybe you can tell me what that would possibly be much the way when Germany reunified right West when it east and all of a sudden we have one Germany is there any way that this could be like the German reunification and if so isn't that the route to the turd tell much of their of their nuclear nuclear efforts. There is actually really no indication that possible history will catch us by surprise and then the cases but if you think about the bent of East Germany there were many differences I think I mentioned on this show before one of the differences is a lot of us Germany ultimately was able to catch West German television I think the North Koreans have a stronger hold an information in North Korea that is much more isolated and you knew in the early eighties when one East German town finally got cable because they couldn't get West German television the regime in East Berlin was in trouble but also Gorbachev abandon them and this is a source of great. Danger for Putin who is a k.g.b. Officer in East Germany at that time that he called Moscow he likes to stay and he got no answer when crowds were storming his k.g.b. Offices and he pointed the gun at the protesters in the last days of East Germany. The military backing of East Germany depended on a large extent on the Soviet k.g.b. In the Soviet military and that's what in force the role of the communist regimes in Czechoslovakia hungry and even Poland basically all of. The Warsaw Pact was so there was also quite a screw up on the part of the East German government where one of their leaders guidance sort of implied you could just cross into us for lack which he didn't even need but it caused people to storm and also very sector is the cards that guarded the border they didn't get any orders they had been shooting people for decades murdering people tried to escape. And then the critical night the Berlin Wall fell . The German government was kind of in chaos and confusion and so that's something difficult to duplicate. German government was there I think killed a lot of people they supported terrorists. Carlos Pacheco could be but they weren't quite on the level of North Korea it's hard to reconcile this and North Korean government is quite a bit crazier and more paranoid so they don't really think probably that they would survive reunification So it looks a little bit I hate to say it there's always that little bit of commonality with the Branch Davidian when the f.b.i. Takes over for a seat in Texas the crazy cots and they see it as the world ending as it's kind of scary and hopefully it's not that bad but it's hard to see the cult like government just saying oh yeah we're going to become capitalist democratic the way East Germany that I just told you know how that would even transfer her attorney Michael Sam to a foreign policy expert of you have questions numbers 802225222 happy to answer them as well do you think that the there is a way to how no get information to the people you know somehow infiltrate and it's funny because my husband's in the military is in the Air Force he's actually landed in North Korea and gotten some remains back years ago and he was trying to take photos and stuff from his plane and it was some bizarre the things that they'd done pulled out like you know carcasses of planes and land you know pulled them out of the runways they had no motors no engines and they just wanted it to appear from satellite images because they knew they had we had eyes on our planes when they landed that it appeared that there were planes on the runway which there were not there was nobody there except a couple of Chinese planes and. That you know they tell all their people it's all propaganda that you know they tell the North Koreans Oh we landed on the moon 1st we did this we did that then they they know nothing else they're people but what if somehow all that you know information was you know I don't know that somehow got into their people that there's other you know the ways of South Korea you know there's a world out there like if it's grassroots and done that way I mean yeah that's the key. I can guarantee you that something that the CIA constantly explores the CIA was very successful in helping undermine East Block in fact that they did promote. Civil society especially in countries like Poland and Czechoslovakia and hungry and that actually played a role in undermining the Soviet control of Eastern Europe Quest of course garbage frosted glass and some other things so that's something that but it's more challenging because it's. Isolated more primitive country and it's a crazy government they're willing to take it to greater levels to some extent Eastern European scientists and authors and artists that travel the world they were just shadowed by k.g.b. And their family was kept hostage so that if they were thought of awareness to some extent even in the darkest days of the Soviet Union that maybe things in the West were better although by the way with the Soviet Union here's here's an interesting contrast we sometimes under s. To overestimate how backwards it was in the sixty's American economist sometimes called it the Soviet miracle because it developed very rapidly communism can be very flawed but people's attention is very wide of course it's extremely flawed capitalism this far superior but people have a tendency to almost all that good and so the Soviet Union was all backward but the quality of life of Russia. In the sixty's was not so bad compared to us it wasn't as good but it wasn't so bad why did his work was deteriorate so much I mean you know part of it of course was that communism was a very flawed system they had an economy the government could bureaucrats control everything from. Communists to fish so. They were isolated they could never really let their scientists be completely open which started to hurt them in computer technology. With their satellite countries like Hungary in Poland it was some by a large population but it's smaller than the countries in the western world so there are scientists were somewhat cut off from Brits and United States for. West Germany you know mostly the fly. Cognizant of course is American Fender Stan it just the people over simplify and then they just think it's all that and very important early eighty's oil prices collapsed but you know it was deteriorating because it was a flawed system but they were strangely successful in industrializing and you know we saw this even with countries like Brazil which might not have been Communist but the dictatorship was able to push that there was I think the political scientists to write about it I think its name is a total Kodaly that sometimes dictators are better able in recent history to just realize because they're able to control things whether they can just move everybody into the cities and kill people exactly but we have some calls for you if you don't mind oh if this is so not enough John one test question go ahead John. So I'm just wondering what maybe Trump has some magic formula of what gather a coalition of Japan South Korea and other area countries to give the guy 5 trillion dollars in gold or something because I don't see what his motivation is to do you know he has not ended the nukes or a whole bag of tricks you know that he doesn't care that life if he does not care about the living standard of the people and the actual wealth of the maybe he does maybe maybe that is something he's very good family guy but Snell Switzerland I mean the gas he only cares about his main living with not there like a black or starving answer that well I mean the government has portrayed the leaders as gods to the people and so you have this very cult like phenomenon that we rarely seeing is sort of this a capacity who's also crazy. Him to go to Switzerland so he may be more open than he reveals his people to us You're right. I have felt for a very lines going back 15 years that we were making a terrible mistake we often blew up the threat of a country having nuclear weapons which is of course unacceptable for terrorist governments like North Korea and Iran with exaggerate the threat so much of just a few nuclear weapons that we made it seem like that country we kept in Pune and when I thought that what we should be telling them is if you get nuclear weapons we will attack the reason we didn't strike North Korea under many administrations going back to Nixon before they had nuclear weapons is artillery pointed towards so right and then Future Presidents relate crazy sold out ahead in seconds Yes Yes And as far as money from Japan and South Korea very you know if Japan can solve this with money and we're able to contribute are that you know that's far preferable to some awful war that could cost 10000 lives or a 1000000 depending on all kinds of things that you can't really predict. So I think you know we've tried that before you know I mean we have successfully when we needed to in the past worked with dictators Unfortunately when we took out the need to either prove. That meet us look they had because Gadhafi had gone complete States witness not only did he give up his program which was a major goal of u.s. Policy going back to the early ninety's he gave up everything but he also became a states and former and helped a radical networks that helped the program in Iran and in other countries even Syria so he gave us everything and we got him killed we didn't have a reason so I'm not saying it was a moral to take him out he was murdering So people but you have to think you know in the Justice Department for f.b.i. Give somebody witness protection because they're a bad mobster but they give up worse mobsters if the Justice Department allows that guy to get killed a few years later even if that guy is also a murderer it undermines their witness protection program might as well we yes I got interrupted for a 2nd we've got to take a break we're going to keep this going just a minute Michael Santo Michael Sam and Jay Santo you can follow my Twitter and Marc and also Michael Santoli dot com as c.m.t. From the Reagan Library. To 6. Days right they sent a note on a. Michael Sam to foreign policy expert Bob the owner of the newsletter talk to retired director of ice Thomas home and we got Michael Santa with us right now we are taking your calls this is Dave Dave with a question Hi Yeah my personal I have a question and my personal opinion is that I don't think we can stop them from going in the clear what program nuclear weapon even with China I think that all we can do is just slow it down so I would my question is back in August 2017 North Korea shot up a message of that failed and it was then that a British expert revealed on air that. What's preventing them from getting a full fledged delivery system is. They don't have a hardened war warhead technology which means vibration problems or material problems and this expert said that they would be able to get that technology within 6 months with which would have made it step Ury of last year did they acquire that technology or and was the u.s. Doing anything to prevent it and can they prevent it. Oh that's a really great question though a little bit complicated. One of the missiles was actually open for 2017 it was powerful enough to deliver nuclear warhead to any part of a state but it went straight up so it didn't have the maneuvering required for the 5 orbit 2 and they may have done it because their guidance system wasn't done they may have done it so that wasn't her project as an attack against United States or fly over the countries reentry vehicle which is very important but delivery of a nuclear device didn't work but because it went straight up it came down far faster if you think about it it kind of intuitively makes sense think it went 10 times higher than the space station so the higher you go the faster comes down so it's not clear how finalized but what's alarming is with both the words that they tested underground and their rockets that dances were faster than predicted. As far as limiting you know militarily we continue to want to ensure that they don't attack South Korea and parts of their military probably are very very bad shape in the South Korean military is very powerful and we would back up the South Koreans hopefully. Present Trampas introduced needless uncertainty about that the fear would be that they would use tactical battlefield nukes or at least I think they quit the trades and so that's like one of the fears or grab Michael and I'm out of time but yeah it's really about South Korea which is why are you think in the right you know the unification is sort of a very key interesting wildcard in all of this but the government collapsing would be the wildcard if it doesn't create chaos or piss off the Chinese There we go to Hank you so much Michael it's hard to make an Iraq Michael Sangean falling out Michael Sam toad dot com foreign policy expert we know don't talk to him again we're going to readdress our trivia to 30 minute I've answered 90. 7. So what do you make of the new policies or do we have enough information to know about the new legislation the so-called 2 to fix the so-called emergency on the border I mean you know it's funny it's what's watch the rhetoric change people who are you know even the news media was saying was a manufactured emergency has been going on in our border then it became Oh it's kids in cages it's just you just go from one thing right to the next but now they have put through some legislation when they do that yeah. Oh. They was going to his 'd boat it was the final product I don't trust. Sort of truth I don't trust some of the Republicans which is what this for the last 2 years are told will fall says so and you know it research reveals the close loopholes legislation finally passes by closing loopholes for the poor some of agreement changes the asylum rules imposed changes t.v. P.r.a. So children from South America are treated as children but still there's not a measure you know how a lot of different search those other 3 things that will stop the search will occur and assuming you know I'm so angry last week we had an attorney on who was down there at the border and she you know was there and she was looking at the situation for the children and look I don't think any of us aren't compassionate for children that are in that situation but I think with the overwhelming numbers that are coming across the border I feel for the Border Patrol agents who are essentially babysitting taking care of sick people taking changing diapers and doing formula and doing things that they were not hired to do on going home and taking sickness and doing things you know taking things back to their own families every night when this is this was not their job this is not what they signed up to do and they're being asked to do it I feel for our agents that are down there on the border but you know I had an argument with her and respectfully so she was like you know this is about the kids and this is this is not about immigration I'll make excuse me ma'am with all due respect this is about immigration how can you not say that that if these people are not coming up to our border and ramming our border because of some blue poll that we're not taking care of because Congress is refusing to act and I'm talking about both sides I don't care what side of the political boundary you're sitting on Republicans and Democrats refusing for political purposes and not taking care of this damn issue we have our. People down at the border and we're dealing with this and then people are coming up and they're there they're you know they're whatever you want to call it in cages sleeping on floors we are in a crisis and both sides are playing these stupid political games and nothing is happening in the one side pointing at the other or playing these stupid games of all lives on the you know this is all happening and I feel the worse for these Border Patrol agents or having to deal with it and people are shooting I'm down on the media and people are screaming at them and pointing fingers and I'm sick of it and I'm sure you are too. Of course another vilification of Border Patrol has a subset of all these border collies as you said another asked to change diapers may form reverse post got their patrol on the line and abort or just recently sent 40 to 60 percent of more choice and so no longer on the line which means our border is very vulnerable to those who want traffic drugs or terrorist ones from the countries won't come late because Saddam born right now sorry to get a plane ticket after 911 is hard to get a visa or any sort of blog or turn information history so they don't come through the southwest border but you know if you know if you want if you want to be angry the 1st one is crackers especially Democratic leadership we've been asking Congress for year and a half you when I was your age director I want a cactus and told what loopholes existed before some of the rent is signed on to the t.v. P.r. If they want to close the loopholes it would help the board I says of this if this isn't just one force lost last night and I said at that time I've been saying for last year if we don't close loopholes 31 percent of women will continue to be raped and more children were dying and more turn have died so if resident Carol young screw up Mistry with children born of a look in America to fix this or your goal and it all and as far as the the way trauma tree together stands for Children series built for children they were built for fantasy series or like your local jail and they got a couple holding cells mostly because you know 90 percent of boards are used to catch our adult males so they're not used to this and then because Congress has not funded health and human services up the lever should be close to Health and Human Services can't buy enough beds so these children and the families are stuck in a bore to absolutely waiting for an appropriate better from us or h.h.s. Which Congress to start both the money now they just create a special supplemental So there's going to help coverage those children be out of custody quicker but $1.00 thing we got to remember the children are by themselves they were smuggled by criminal organizations to the border then smoke. If he was paid by a parent or guardian or sponsor so they put their children in the hands of commoditization be smuggled United States that's a humane life there and everybody wants to talk about the 2500 children that were separate there is 0 tolerance but at the same transistor It seems that it wasn't children because you've h.h.s. Severus Mogae criminal organizations that are parents are already here and they put their children in the hands of criminals and if there's no one to talk about that inhumane issue they all want to talk about it the smaller fraction they know the government did but the government simply doing their job you don't like what I suppose you don't like what Gorbachev does and change the law because even men or women are making it up or just some choice laws or time or some actor doing their job or retired director vies Thomas Holman before we come back after a break right now our number is 802225222 Mr Coleman I want to get your thoughts on what you heard of the Democratic debates when they were at the Democratic hopefuls were asked would they be willing to would they all who agrees with decriminalization illegal immigration and they all right I don't even have a United States of America 802225222 that's Landfried not Dutch groups but their lives have 90 k.p.c. . It is a big deal every doctor 802225222 it's a tough area speak to certain rocky one Rick regarding his use of police department swell from the zoos police are going to talk to us about the rise in homeless related crimes in that region right now we are talking to the retired director of ice Thomas Holman 802225222 is there for an hour before the break I was asking Mr Holm what he thought about the Democratic candidates. Seemingly all of them virtually all these the front runners wish or intention to decriminalize illegal crossings of our border yes I want to sort it out 1st you know. The Senate was holding her back from the sun as they want to make illegal 'd immigration illegal and everything I heard on those 2 I slipped a. They wanted the illegal nation may go they want to reward those who live their laws. They want to give them free medical they want to give them medical care they want to not detain them they want to get rid of private attention which is 90 percent of i.c. Tragically do cheaper and better than the federal government could do it so everything they said is about protecting illegal immigrants I have heard one idea about securing our border and protecting America are there one idea about a problem they're all to put America 1st what is it everything they said as special at this time is just further enticement for people to keep coming to United States rather than trying to quell the search down there just feeding it and I think it's an intentional it's intentional to feed the surge because they want to embarrass this president 2020 they want to see this president fail they hate this president more they take responsibly to secure the border as American people didn't see that in the last 2 nights when they're not paying attention and looking I think the other day we recognize as. Nancy Pelosi was not will have even come to the table what water to the table what made her call the president is when I says get ready go rest illegal aliens in United States own due process in order to move so she wasn't willing to come to the table because children are dying she was a woman come to the table could women are being raped the borders are control she was won't come to the table protect those in the United States that border remove by federal judge that's the only thing they actually came to say once again proving that they want to protect illegal immigrants more they want to protect our borders and American citizens and you know it's also frustrating to me to Mr Hellman is that when people talk about you know oh why are you anti legal alien or air immigrant or anti immigrant I'm like no this country is founded on immigration and we allow over a 1000000 immigrants a year to come into this country we have to like backdoor immigration we have legal immigration sure and maybe our immigration system is due for a tuning up and it needs to be. So it could be done faster but come through the front door do it legally do it all the right way I mean that that's the frustrating thing is that people do do it the right way and when you're coming through the back door and you're breaking the laws in your not doing it the right way that's a frustrating thing it's like it's not like we don't have legal immigration we do we don't like people who break our laws period you know I can't but I certainly as a campaign anybody wants are the greatest virtue of payments are but you can be can be a part of the greatest controversy not respect or laws you can't have it both ways it argues example the other day I had a driver. Who really took a studio. And he's from an African nation and he came to see me told me so you recognize your courses are taught we save this country as a student then later became. A resident alien then became a us citizen he's been trying to get his wife and 3 children over here for 9 years doing it the right way and he's insulted when he sees what's going on and watches the news that all these people go to on the line and people need to remember the people 90 percent of sense Americans never get relief because they don't qualify for asylum you know they're not they're not actually escaping fearing person right from the government because of race religion or political belief that they're just coming for a better life again what they're doing here clogging up the system for people who really do need asylum there is people in this world that are really are escaping persecution and death from the government and they're in an actual line because the Central American family by the 10s of thousands are standing there taken a system of knowledge certainly have a right to claim asylum that you're right while say this you have the right to claim asylum you have a right to see a judge will not judge make the final decisions that you must leave which is 90 percent of time you've got to go to leave and they don't so they take the man to justice they manage to judge would ignore the judge's order yet and that's why I think together applying them removal I did it back in f y 15 we arrested family as I find or some south in the board numbers went down I understand the sadness in some situation immigration forces always macaque your show it's always been emotional or burn nation of laws we can't give up who we are we can't keep it we have no sovereignty we have no protective orders and we're not a country we need to do the right thing for America if we do need it I think when we if we need labor like farm labor from need factory labor because unemployment rates were all that Congress needs to fix the system would have a guest worker program that come here illegally resident bankrolling the criminal cartels who are making billions of dollars smuggling people help them buy laid off do the right way don't have eyes or border to turn our heads to violations of the crime and you're also supposed to seek asylum in the 1st country you can. You can do that in Mexico no no I want to talk about you if you're feeling well and hopefully that's going to carry through hopefully with your here's your service Jan 1st here's in the bottom alla what you get out of that country and your Mexico you should be fine and I'm certain and all Severus reclaim and you know asylum Guatemala so this is no good I think I said 90 percent never get relief if this is a really good post if you care persecution there was a silence this is all good United States we're going to have to leave it right there are tired director of ice Thomas Holman joining us thank you so much. I thank you talk to you again soon our number is 802225222. 190 k.p.c. .
