Supporters lining the streets as President Trump made his way inside his honeywell factory and pushed right up against the airport. It was after staying home for about two months or so has this pandemic intensified, this is the first place that President Trump chose to visit. The factory that is help making those n95 respirator mask. He is hoping to symbolize that this country is ready to get back to normal. President trump im going there for two reasons. I love arizona appear to have a lot of friends in arizona. Ive had Great Success over the years in arizona. And im going to pay my respects to honeywell, one of the Great Companies that is done a fantastic job for us. I look forward to it. What makes this facility significant is that its one of two facilities that have shifted into producing millions of n95 masks for emergency and Health Workers on the front lines. It was further expanding its production of the respirator mask its at the time President Trump remarked that they were fulfilling their patriotic duty. Trump will be joined by a few honeywell executives as they do the mask Production Assembly line. The president will join a roundtable discussion around support for native americans from the coronavirus crisis. Shortly before making his way to arizona other president was asked about the progress in the country of reopening. Heres what he had to say. President trump our country wants to open. The governors our country wants to open. You see whats going on. You have to open. The people of our country should think of themselves as warriors. Theres been an aggressive back and forth as to where this is going. Someplace get 3,000 more cases and deaths per day to at least the middle of the summer. Theres really no way of forecasting this. But what is concerning people and others if we open too soon does that present more hazard is that count goes up. Theres no way of knowing for sure. They keep track of this at the cdc in atlanta. He was there with them more. A gelatin. Neil dr. Anthony fauci is scheduled to testify before the Senate Health committee. He was asked to testify tomorrow before a house hearing. President trump is blocking that from happening. Heres why. Take a listen. President trump the house is put on Oversight Committee of Maxine Waters and the same people. Candace just to set up. But dr. Fauci will be testifying in front of the senate. And he looks forward to doing that. In an interview with national geographic, dr. Fauci says the coronavirus evolved in nature are not a lab in china and dismisses that a natural sample may have escaped from the lab is a circular argument in his words. Mississippi will allow restaurants to resume Dining Service with social distancing beginning thursday. Parks in that state will reopen and also the governor is allowing outdoor gatherings of up to 20 people. Heres why. The virus does not fair particularly well in the sun. And we do not believe that it bears particularly well in the heat. To be outdoors is about the safest place you can be. More georgia businesses reopen including some large malls, atlanta is criticizing people who ignore social distancing guidelines. The mayor tweeted, for those that crowded at Greenbriar Mall awaiting the new air jordans shot fireworks at the mall west end and even those now shopping at lenox square mall, know that the only thing thats changed about covid19 is your chance of catching. This shows the disagreement between the governor of georgia and some of the mayors of some of the larger cities in the state who say that we should be playing things a little more cautious because of the current infection rates. Neil where they concerned of the pace of some of the states the way they are opening up, or are they assessing stepping back nationally . Yeah, its a combination of the tube. The governors obviously concerned about the Small Business people particularly people running tattoo parlors, people cutting hair who have no way of getting income while they are closed. The mayors of these large cities are seeing high infection rates. There reacting from a Public Health standpoint. Public health weighing with the economy is an ongoing debate. Either way, eventually people will want to get back to life as normal whatever that is. What about flying a gun . Domestic flights is one thing. Already the airlines are preparing for less traffic and fewer people in seats. What about that infamous middle seat . A lot of people dont like to sit in it because obviously they are in the middle. What if you could pay to make sure no one does sit in that seat . Frontier airlines has a plan for you. In a new push toward social distancing, offering the middle seat to stay empty if you pay a 39 fee. Interesting concept and creating an enormous buzz on the intern internet. Weve introduced a more room option. It gives you a little more spa space. Neil lets say that you are in the aisle seat and you want to guarantee that no one sits in the middle seat. The guy in the window seat starts putting his stuff in the middle seat that you paid for. How you going to settle that . I think you would settle at the same way its gone for decades and all the way back to stagecoach days. Civility of passengers is still going to exist. I would ask you if you were sitting in the window if i could put my bag there and if not, i would put it in the overhead bin. I assume that when we get to traveling we could probably share the center tray table and ill put my drink on one side and you on the other may be. I think passenger civility neil i might say yeah, if you give me 20 bucks, i might consider it. I being funny, but to get a sense, are you ready for this . You said at the outset, youre looking at fewer people sitting those seats. Max, this is an incentive when people hear your fairs or whatever youre charging, the fares are very, very low. What response have had to them . We are offering fares as low as 11 and that includes all taxes and fees. Best to help america get going. We want you to get out and get american moving and get the economy going. We want to do it safely. Everybody wear facial covering. If you had 39 on top of that, for 50 bucks you could have the more room option with our really low fares. You dont need that option to be safe. You can be safe for as little as 11. Neil this is a dumb question, but what if i had a carryon bag i might get charged for. I could pay that seat fair, plopped my carryon and that seat, couldnt i . I might still come out ahead. [laughs] i guess thats possible. The one thing to keep in mind is bookings are starting to come back. And plenty of carriers have given plenty of social distancing options. As the loads get more full, there are people they want that guaranteed option. This just gives them a little bit more peace of mind. Its belt and suspenders. Neil the government isnt being very clear of what is expected of you when everyone goes back. Maybe its more of a federal issue than a state issue. Is it understood that plans are going to be at half capacity . Is that going to be the understood rule . I dont think thats true. Yesterday and the day before, we were at 50 . This coming weekend it looks like we will be over 60 load factor. Airplanes are starting to fill back up again. Thats why its going to become more important if people do want their seat next to them to still be open, we are going to guarantee it for them. Neil you probably heard Warren Buffett the very famous investor. He bowed out of his investment. Some of the big boys like delta and southwest. It wasnt so much that he didnt like the airline is much as he said theres going to be i dont want to put words in his mouth, the long curve to get back to where you were. Do you worry about that yourself that business will come back, planes will fill as they did after 9 11 but they could take a while. Are you worried about that . I think he will be an uneven recovery when passengers come back. We are seeing passengers come back now but its more of the visiting friends and relatives in some leisure. There is very little Business Travel. A lot of the big airlines depend on Business Travel and thats going to be one of the last segments to come back. Neil from here on out, the mitigation issues and Everything Else become less of an issue because the numbers im not saying its insignificant but if we still see numbers increased at a higher rate than we thought they were looking at a scenario where you could have 3,000 dyeing per day. In an environment like this, are they warning that thats because we would be unwinding these provisions . Or just buy them . What do you see . As the states start to scale back and open up their communities, but these studies and models are showing us is that there is an increase in mobility. People are out and about but theres also a decrease in the amount of physical and social distancing. You had that in with a Large Population density whether you are in a suburban urban area or rural area that you take all of these factors into consideration and then we have a recipe for a potential outbreak and exponential growth in a number of cases. Thats what the goal is here to project where these cases will arise. This past week i had many sick patients coming in although the number has decreased, there still a lot of sick patients. Im seeing it in the most vulnerable population, our seniors, people with diabetes, africanamericans, hispanic, latino. Thats what im seeing most of the cases now. Its a difficult challenge not only medically but mentally and economically. Thats why we have these gated phase reopening guidelines and protocols in place. In the middle of it, this bulletin goes off that the Vice President is thinking of winding and pulling down. He said yes, we are in preliminary talks to see if we can do that. We think that we are on course to maybe buy a day or early june to return the functions out the task force over to the relevant agencies. That would be fema and others. U. S. Department of agriculture would deal with the meatpacking plants having problems as well. It looks like the task force will the beginning of june not be there anymore. The democrats as you can imagine snarky about it saying there hasnt been much of a task force. Its all been President Trump doing what he wants to do with people standing around him. I think legitimately you can say that dr. Birx, dr. Fauci, the Vice President and their organization have done a lot of work over the last couple of months in terms of wrapping up the nation for something that we had no idea really was coming. We have set down the curfew over the weekend. Our people travel out to the border towns out to the reservation. Recently the National Guard came in and shut down new mayor leadership in mexico. Theyve been on lockdown for five or six days now. Our people are readily going to other border towns like flagstaff and farmington in mexico. I think the majority are okay. Three major pieces of legislation with paid leave, Unemployment Benefits and with the Paycheck Protection Program to put us in position to get us going again. The governor and i were just talking about it. We are reopening. Its a wonderful thing to see. We are wellpositioned. With their leadership we are going to get back to where we were just a few weeks ago. Things were going so well and we will get there. We had a nice conversation with the governor and a second lady and i talk about things we are doing. I mentioned these dislocated worker grants that are made available also to tribal governments. What are your numbers now as of today . President trump wow weve tested over 1,000. Weve had over 1100 tests. Weve had one fatality. We have 44 positive tests. Our tribal communities are around 23,000 members. So we are keeping ahead of the curve. But i know testing is a big issue. Although the things working with your administration and getting we were one of the first tribes to get one as well and also working with the governor getting five ventilators as well. We run our own health care of Indian Health service. And so weve hired our own doctors. We put our own unity members to work from other tribes as well. We are taking care of our own tribal members on this. We have really had an command that weve started as well. All of our departments are collaborating for one purpose. We keep our Committee Members safe. President trump the ventilators the ventilators to, arent they . Weeks ago i signed that cares act which includes 8 billion to help tribal governments. I want to thank senator makes a for fighting hard to get those funds and get them here and get them to a lot of different people all over the country including the folks in this room. I thank you. Youve done a fantastic job. You really have. The single largest investment in Indian Country in our history. So the amount of money thats being sent to Indian Country as we call it is the largest amount in the history of the u. S. And you deserve it and youve been through a lot. The Navajo Nation will soon receive over 600 million. Thats a lot. Can i renegotiate that . [laughter] only if you go up. President trump ive heard that before. The river will receive and i think you probably know all about this. But weve given you some information, 40 million. Youre going to use that very well. I know that because i know you. Youre going to be given 40 million in initial funds to help protect their citizens from the scourge from the plague that we are all fighting in this country. They should initiative never happens. It should have been contained from where it came. Since i took office my administration has also worked to repatriate precious native american artifacts to protect children in their care of the Indian Health and Indian Health service and to make remains more easier accessible for cultural and religious purpose and highlight the contribution of native American Veterans throughout the history of our nation. So you know all of those elements. It remains as a very important thing to you. Last year, i signed the first residential proclamation recognizing the tragedy of missing and murdered American Indians and alaskan natives. We also launched operation lady justice and provided 273 million to improve Public Safety and native American Tribal communities. At the end of this event i will once again sign a proclamation recognizing missing and murdered American Indians in alaska, native awareness day. It has been a tremendous problem, missing and murdered American Indians. If you discuss that for a second please . I dont want to steal the second lady sunday. President trump id like to have a second lady. Go ahead. The nation has been hit hard. It seems to be a growing issue that has been happening with navajo. And so we, you know, with a case that came up in 2016 where she was kidnapped and and murdered in mexico im amazed second, 2016. That is what open the door for navajo to start saying, okay, we need to do something. That became the forefront. Since then, the amber alert has gotten better. But still needs help with funding. He still needs help with getting the data together. Our first lady will tell you part of the new Mexico Task Force thats getting together data. We just really need help in that sense. We dont want to lose any more of our native sisters or native mothers. The cry is to get the awareness out. Because a lot of people dont know of the missing and murdered Indigenous Women and girls. And now its hitting the l gtb q community. We just want to make that aware and we are waving our arms here. I think there was a movie that came out with native women that have been murdered and missing. Its hit close to home, because we have a close Family Member that went missing in 2015. They found her two months later murdered in albuquerque, new mexico. Her case still remains unsolved. They got to make a who is from little waters new mexico who went missing november 25th 2019 and is still missing. And so, we have these girls out there that are missing. We dont know. President trump far disproportionate to other people and other areas of the country. What youve gone through. Ive been hearing about this for a long time. Years and years. This has been for many years, for many decades. Disproportionate. Well, 273 million, a lot of that is going to try to solve that problem. Its a problem that can be solved. Thank you, mr. President. President trump i know that you will use it well and you will figure it out. Neil we will continue to monitor this. The president at this honeywell facility in arizona. I keep one of this is its help to go and extend the native americans with potential help. The president offer them today better than 600 million worth. The theme of the day is more americans ventures to help americans out especially with this mass production of the honeywell in this particular facility to accommodate. If something our own kennedy has gotten into. Fox Business Network where there is a push now given realization of our supply chain. We are at the mercy of those abroad particularly china. That is the thing the president is trying to address and corrected one of the hard lessons that we learn for the whole coronavirus is how exposed we are to this sort of stuff. Thats true. Thats something we have to think about going forward. We can give into a false dichotomy which is the idea that we either only manufacturer in china or we manufacture everything in the United States. Its great to have manufacturing jobs here. Theres no doubt about it. But realistically, not every product can be manufactured in the United States. Thats a very difficult pill for a lot of people to swallow. It would make every single thing you buy more expensive than it hurts consumers particularly those who have been decimated by the pandemic. Yes, we have to deal with china and we have to deal with their untrustworthiness. They have been lying at best and murderous at worst. That is not being hyperbolic. The problem is, they still have so much ppe that if we start rattling in the wrong way and cut off our own nose despite our face, they could withhold that which would be deadly for Many Americans if there is in fact a second wave of the pandemic. Neil one of the things that has been raised as well as maybe the tension between our countries given all the coronavirus stories that didnt add up that maybe it does affect our trade deal where we were going to address some of these issues. Because that now looks a little iffy, doesnt it . Yes, it does look iffy. We were on a much better road where there seemed to be mutual agreement about lifting that tariffs and more transparency in terms of intellectual property theft. But now, can you really trusted chinas word at this point . Meaning that communist government. And i dont know that you can. They are going to take a massive longterm economic hit because not only were they being dishonest with the intellectual property theft but also, what we are hearing from the coronavirus that may have emerged from the lab in china and the fact that the communist party tried to suppress information in trying to warn their colleagues is a deadly cocktail. Its all that news for china. Neil to irony with this vicinity is i dont think i can be wrong that the president utilized the defense production act to incentivize honeywell to do this. Honeywell had the room and the capacity and had extra capacity to do this and make this. Its a reminder that you dont have to strongarm companies into doing this sort of thing. This is a governor cant write a law and assess the penalty, the mayor of that city cant do that. Only the city council can. These cases are not being tried, neil, until after the pandemic has passed. I think the vast majority of these summons the people are receiving are going to be dismissed, because basically, the mayor and the governors power is a bully. It is not the power of law and it can be backed up by the police. Neil weve seen it play out in state after state. People getting summons and ticketed on the debate if they are too close together. Obviously, its an intimidating thing to say spread out. Maybe the local officials leave it at that, but there handing people tickets. And that gets into a whole other area. It does. And it is really an abuse of power when you terrifies somebody with 1,000 fine because they dont have a face mask on. The pros and cons on the face mask. When a law has internal inconsistencies in it, the courts want to throw them out because there has to be a rational basis. But the task force for what weve done, i think everybody out there when they are being very honest, i think the job weve done on testing will shortly be and maybe even supersede the job that weve done on ventilators which people cant even believe. We had a call the other day with the governors. Mike pence took the call and they had all 50 governors. And they say it was the best score weve had thus far. We are working closely with the governors who have everything they need. If they dont have it or dont need it or if they can get it locally, and then they know that we are stocked and ready and we can have as an example, we wont need this but we were ready for weeks. We had 10,000 ventilators sitting in various locations with people by the ventilators ready to have those ventilators role if they needed them. As an example, detroit or various other places over the country. I think as far as the task force, mike pence and the task force have done a great job. We are now looking at a different form. I would love to see a therapeutic answer even before the vaccine, because we could take care of people that have a current problem or dilemma. But therapeutically and for the vaccines have a tremendous amount of progress. Oxford, johnson johnson, incredible places are doing, i think, a very good job. And they are very advanced. We are going up to that very delicate final stage with a number. I think a number of other countries are also doing quite well. And just so you know, working very closely with other countries.
