In other words Great Potential and discussing with the doctor a little bit later on. There was a full feed with the press that has wrapped up. Weve no doubt well get a tape from that and when that comes available and we hear from the president and of course the head of gilead enterprises. There is another development we are forming around the country. What many deemed to be a very, very slow sort of emergence from the sheltering provision. You are looking at an event going on in sacramento, california. Chicago, illinois, a lot more there than elsewhere. Mike has been following them all in chicago right now, mike. We are apparently having some problems. Go ahead, mike, can you hear this . I can hear you now, neil. We show this demonstration really get thick throughout the day. It is starting to dwindle now. It was organized by Freedom Movement usa and they are argument rights are being trampled on in the name of disease prevention. A lot of their anger is directed at illinois governor j. B. Pritzker who they claim are overstepping their boundaries, overstepping their authority. The governors overstepping his boundaries. He needs to go home take a silver spoon and beat some people with it. Ecochicago mayor Lori Lightfoot said she will not bend under pressure. She said science and data will determine when it will reopen. Speak with the notion that we are going to open up before the data and the science tell us that we are ready is really foolish. We would be putting lives at risk to do so. And the demonstrators were packed in here tight. Most of them were not Wearing Masks despite a mandate in the state of illinois to wear masks out in public. I asked the demonstrators if they were concerned about the risk and they said they were not. They have the right to assemble, right to make their voices heard and right to risk their own health, neil. Neil thank you very much, mike governor, we are monitoring the white house getting a tape very soon with the meeting with gilead science, behind remdesivir which has proven early stages and depending on who you talk to very promising with a potential treatment for covid19 cases, especially advance covid19 cases. The separate university of nebraska medical University Study in conjunction with the state there that shows it has this other ancillary promise for advanced patients, older patients usually on respiratory respirators or more. We will keep a close eye on that. The president will speak in a lot of the approval for this will be with the fda. The white house, the president and the head of gilead scientist. President trump welcome to the ceo of gilead. We know what that is because hes been in the news, and Great America company thats done incredible work on hiv and hepatitis c. And i hear that is what is happening with hepatitis, the great medical story, the great medical stories that we have been hearing about. That is. Either way for the fda for remdesivir. You know what that is because thats been the hot thing in the papers and in the media for little while. An important treatment for hospitalized corona patients and something i spoke with dr. Kohn, dr. Fauci come i spoke with deborah about it. It is really a really promising situation. We have been doing work with the teams and the fda, nih, gilead for spearheading this private Public Partnership to make this happen quickly. So today, we are going to be i will let dan do it, but i will let dan tell us what hes doing to make a contribution to really people that are not doing well. People that are sick. People that have this horrible plague set into our country. And that we are getting rid of and we are going to be having some really incredible results. We have very promising studies coming out on the faxing. We have promising studies coming out on therapeutics. The first one is from dan and gilead. I would like to maybe have you say a few words, dan. And also the contribution being made by your company. We very much appreciate it. Thank you very much president. Thank you for having us here. Thank you for the Vice President for the collaboration we have had. Let me say that all the colleagues at gilead come all the collaborators, that have brought remdesivir to this point and that certainly includes nih and dr. Fauci and certainly commissioner hahn and many, many more people that have been a part of this to bring this to where we are today. And really come of the things go to the patients and caregivers that participate in these Clinical Trials. Im privileged to work with a group of amazing scientist at gilead and for decades working on antiviral. And poised to put remdesivir immediately into Clinical Trials when we saw the covid19 circulating. So im really proud of the colleagues of gilead. What i would like to say on behalf of gilead and the president s point, we feel a tremendous responsibility. We are humbled with this first step for hospitalized patients. We want to make sure nothing gets in the way of these patients getting the medicine. So we made a decision to donate 1. 5 million vials of remdesivir. We will be working with the government to determine how best to distribute that within the United States. We will be working very closely to get that to patients, working with fema and other parts of the government to make sure that we get that to the patients in need as quickly as possible. There are patients out there that can benefit from this medicine today that are hospitalized. We dont want any time to waste for that. We are fully committed and expand the supply of the medicine. We started investing in this back in january as soon as we became aware of the coronavirus. This is a long time manufactured use, 12 months and it used to be six months. But the scientist brought that down. The second half of this year, we are able to have many more supplies available to patients fully committed to working. Mr. President with you and your administration to make sure patients in need can get this new important medicine. Tucker s before i noticed incredible job youve done with hiv, which i remember so well 1s ago, 16 years ago, it was a horrible thing, new york and i lost a lot of friends. It was terrible. And also hepatitis c. Can you give us a quick moment on how successful that has been . Because ive seen things that are pretty incredible that a lot of people dont know. Absolutely. And im reminded of ambassador birx and all of her work. And the colleagues of gilead have collaborated for years. Both have developed on nh hiv. This is astonishing and when i joined gilead a while ago the reason i joined was because of this progress. You remember of course back when hiv was a death sentence. And now thanks to the scientists at gilead and elsewhere, we have turned this into a really preventable disease. And i want to give special thanks to the administration for the work on the hiv prevention and prep program that we are working now. Many, particularly disadvantage to our country to get more patients on prevention because the best way, of course, to stop and end this epidemic is treatment and prevention. Hepatitis c im happy to say the scientist came up with a cure or some years ago. We have made tremendous progress, including some really creative new arrangements in the United States, like the state of louisiana where we have looked at ways to program and make sure every patient in the state is able to get the opportunity to be cured. So im very proud that we have this kind of science, but also that we put this science in a way that is active for the patients. President trump with hepatitis c it is actually a cure to keep it down, it is an actual cure or. 12 week full therapy cure it. We are still working on the hiv care. We havent given up but its a more typical problem. Get the long acting first. Much more complex. And very embarrassed to talk about this in front of ambassador birx, she should talk about this. To get the virus, completely suppressed. President trump where would you put it, and that level of complexity . It is early for the coronavirus. This is the first step today. I think what we will see and it may be like with other viruses that we have seen with this fire antiviral like remdesivir a way to get better results is to add medicines on top of the antiviral. That is really how we were able to get hiv to a chronic illness by therapy. This is the beginning. There is a lot of Great Companies working on this that we are collaborating with. My colleagues in the industry. We are all working together to do everything we can. It is very exciting. And just the company, major contribution towards what is happening, people so we very much appreciate that. And i know we are we are talking about monetary contribution as well more importantly than scientifically. We appreciate you very much. Doctor, what you say a few words . At the fda is moving things along with what weve never done before and i appreciated, doctor. Thank you, mr. President , we appreciate it. As the president announced, we authorized gilead for emergency use operation for the use of remdesivir in hospitalized patients. That was issued today. Thank you very much. Congratulations. The president for the great work and collaboration that we have had. I also want to thank more than 18,000 employees of the fda who have heated the president s call to reduce Regulatory Burden and red tape and move things forward. I think i said the other day this is lightning speed in terms of getting something improved. From Clinical Trial to getting it approved to the fda its been effective. This is a clinical advance and shows statistically a reduction in time to recovery for patients with covid19. And the First Authorized therapy for covid19. We are very proud to be a part of it. Mr. President , thank you for your leadership. President trump dr. Hahn one of the most important in medicine as you know to take the fda and we are glad he did. A very important job and a tremendous reputation, but to take this job you are doing great and we are proud. Thank you, sir. President trump debra, please. I will be brief. I think this can illustrate what can happen in a short period of time. From the first case diagnosed in the United States to now, the first step forward was a therapeutic in less than 90 days. For those of us who work in viral diseases in pandemic for a long time, this is our very first positive step forward. It is our first step forward and obviously, groups are working on that scene. I want to thank the company for not only making sure this guy with a Clinical Trial but the individuals who didnt qualify for the clinical try trial, they made the drug available from the very beginning for us and around the world. I think that combination of really, strong Clinical Trials, but also when you dont really have something to make compassionate use of billable was also quite extraordinary. So we can, also thank you for the patients because obviously, this was a randomized trial. There was a group that did not get drugs. Live data saved to stop the trail because of the statistical difference because you cant keep placebos on a trail when you have already shown significance in the treatment environment. So to the patients willing to be randomized into the doctors who did the trial and the nurses who took care of them, we are very grateful because these Clinical Research is clinical for the breakthroughs. But obviously, somebody getting the agent and some that are not. That has been extraordinary. President trump thank you. We are here, i would like to maybe have alex discuss it for a second. We will be screened as a country, and i used to say two years ago, ten years and now down to eight years. Maybe sooner than that working with gilead and other companies. Working with the great people that we are dealing with medically in our country. Maybe you can Say Something about that, alex. Nobody knows that you can even do that, but we are looking to be eggs freed in the United States within eight years. We started, frankly it could have been started in the Previous Administration and they decided not to. I decided to do it so please come alex. It is embarrassing to be talking about aids standing next to dr. Birx so she can correct me, but really thanks to President Trumps leadership, the tools were there. The tools were there to inspect the hiv epidemic in the United States but it was the president s call in the state of the Union Address that brought everyone together including this Great Company gilead and the United States government. All of the partners and that hiv epidemic. The tools are that you need to diagnose individuals. Part of that is getting people that are underserved areas, we particularly have africanamerican males in southern Rural Communities. We have native americans. We have many underserved who are not getting diagnosed. If we can get you diagnosed, we can get you on therapy if you are positive for the disease. And if you are on therapy and viral load is undetectable, you are and transmissible. You cant give that virus to somebody else if you stay on therapy an Amazing Program with an incredible over 80 success rate at getting people who are positive to be undetectable by being compliant with the drug. And then if you are negative, but you have behaviors to put you at risk for getting hiv, you can take the product with compliance. It keeps you 97 chance that you wont get the hiv disease also. So the tools are there. It is about execution and blocking and tackling and with the president s leading we got the funding from congress for this. So we really have this in our grasp. The tools were there but it took President Trumps call of action to make this a reality. President trump as being brief, they tell me this is a possibility if we wanted to do it. I said, who would want to do this . And everything is a lot of money, but this is small many compared to what we are talking about. And im somebody from new york lost a lot of friends to aids, a tremendous number of friends and the most talented people, i lost to aids. It is incredible. Do you have anything to add . Because you are the real expert on aids and the eradication. Anything to add about eradication in our country . We just appreciate the Government Support on doing both Domestic Work and global work on hiv aids. Because obviously you invest in the program to really bring the same level of compassion and treatment to people around the globe to really control the epidemic around the globe. This is a big step forward for all of us. President trump what do you think of the timing . Am i right about 12 years . Actually to control the pandemic and make it controllable and smaller, that is absolutely possible. And obviously we need a vaccine or cure under the direction. President trump how is that coming . We make forward progress of vaccines and then step forward and then forward progress. It is tough work and the cure is tough work. But the scientists are working on and around the clock and around the world. President trump good, mike, yes. Thank you, mr. President. I just appreciate the opportunity to express the gratitude that we all feel. Dan, to unc Incredible Team at gilead. And to think of the progress you made in an extraordinary period of time when the president brought the pharmaceutical companies here to the white house, you were among them. You said you wanted to move out on a vaccine but he said develop therapeutics as quickly as you can. We were told that it was possible that by the spring, we would have therapeutics here on may 1st, very first therapeutic with emergency use with good work with the fda is now available. But donating 1. 5 million doses, our task force will be working closely with gilead to make sure those medicines starting on monday are distributed to hospitals where patients are struggling and serious conditions with the coronavirus today. And so my dan my hope that our gratitude but the gratitude of the American People when they see incredible ingenuity and generosity from the team at gilead. God bless you. Thank you very much, mr. President , appreciate that. May be you can say a few words. You were instrumental in getting this done and also ventilators to be the kings and queens, a lot of ventilators and all over the country in the world, starting with almost none. What do you have to say . I think dramatically it it shows the publicprivate partnerships that you and Vice President have been working on. You talk about ventilators, i know mr. Vice president you just visited the gm plant. You saw g. E. Making ventilators and how quickly we moved there. This is just another example where you have a company, one of the best that came up with the first therapeutic that shows the strength of our private business. In i really appreciate because you didnt wait to start production. That means we will get doses next week because they ramped up production and didnt wait because they want to help americans. So i think it shows the strength of the private business in us and im very proud to be an american. President trump so that means you were so confident in what you were doing early on that you were able to project . I would say we were that confident, but we really werent. We sold the incredible human need and we said in the event this is successful, we have to plan for success. That is the way we operate. Im proud to work for a company that makes those kind of decisions. President trump how many doses are we getting from the standpoint of the country and the contributions . We are particularly with the news around the effects on patients as dr. Hahn mentioned can benefit from five days of treatment. Which i think is a real benefit, by the way, the patients to get five days of iv and improving to get out of the hospital. Great for them to get back to their loved ones. Great to reduce the burden on the Health Care System and that 1. 5 million doses goes longer. So we are talking about hundreds, more than a hundred thousand treatment courses, which again, we need more. We are still ramping up command we will have more in the second half of the year. But at least it is a start. The more serious patients i think are the ones that we will work with for the Vice President on this team to make sure the most serious patients first. President trump that is a great start, thank you very much. Thank you, gilead very much. [applause] that is fantastic. We will be seeing you all in a little while. Thank you very much. Neil you have been watching a very Significant Development and the coronavirus. You dont see this happen and when the food and Drug Administration authorizes emergency use of a promising drug, a treatment that dramatically shortens the Recovery Time for severely ill covid19 patients, the company led by dan oday of Gilead Sciences, better than 1 million to make this drug available for those who need it urgently. That can be ramped up significantly next year, even later this year. It is the first promising treatment for this, and there are others who said for those in particularly on ventilators, this is promising to get them off of ventilators, especially those that have been on them for a while but often time the only way out, sadly is death. That is something that is too early to sort of gauge all of this. The significance of these developments right now with dr dr. Mike, the clinical position at the atlantic medical group. Doctor, what do you make of the significant amount of what it would mean emergency use feature of this and who benefits . What do you think . Yeah, i would like to tread cautiously optimistic. I love that gilead is making this rapid donation of 1. 5 million doses. We do have to remember that doses generally speaking we need a ten day course for patients. This will benefit 150,000 patients. Right now, the trial, we get the preliminary results look promising in reducing the burden of this illness. I have said from day one meal when i came on the program for the biggest difference between covid19 and influenza is we dont have antiviral vaccine and covid spread so rapidly that it puts the Hospital System under serious strain to the point of breaking it. Hopefully as we continue with the medical research, we will get these antivirals, we will get the vaccine and be able to stop covid or slow it down to the point where it doesnt destroy the Health Care System. Neil you know, doctor, it was a significant distinction my guest mr. Day of gilead made i guess between a cure and a treatment or even a vaccine. Then it reminded us about treating aids back in the 1990s. There was no cure outright for aids, but promising drugs and treating hiv, there was a way to prevent people from dying from it. Is that the route that looks promising at least in the near term in this case . You know viruses are tricky. For example with hiv aids, this is still a virus that has no cure. We do have great medications that have turned hiv and aids to chronic illnesses where patients who are hivpositive are living long, fruitful lives almost to the same life span and average person without hiv would live. With covid19 right now, the evidence that we have for remdesivir, it looks like the tide is turning and can turn into a virus that is manageable. It will not be a virus that is cured anytime soon because we havent had a cure in the past for the crown of viruses. We have to think back at sars, murderers, these are viruses we have not yet found a cure for. But because we had our experiences with stars and murderers we were more prepared to create antiviral remdesivir input into Clinical Trials and get it to the general public a lot quicker than not having those two prior experiences. Neil you know, doctor, i know there is a study done in conjunction with i believe nih and others that found the more severe cases of covid19. They found remdesivir does ease that up to the point that in some tests come i hope im not getting this wrong, they can be taken off of ventilators. The prospect prayer was almost sudden death. I guess what im wondering, with an emergency in those situations to get access to this, what is the next step as it broadens out to potential wider audience . The first step is to get everyone who needs this in an emergency setting. Those who are not doing well who are on ventilator support. Those are the people that will get this medication first. Second, it is to continue to do the research and collecting information from the randa randomized controlled setting that is ongoing. Just because this medicine falls under the approval of eua commit does not mean this medicine is purely fda approved. It is not an fda approved medicine and we need to not confuse those terms. What happens is we have an emergency situation from the military threats, medical threats, a virus just like this one where we dont have a treatment for, we dont have an alternative four and one if we prolong waiting for randomized controlled results, we could potentially lose a lot of lives. We authorize one of these euas. In one of the situation where the patients cant wait for the randomized controlled studies to begin, at times commit as were taking this eua approved medication because the harm is now, the benefit outweighs the harm. That is always the goal with getting a treatment. All medical treatments whether a surgery or medication, there are harms and benefits. The goal is to give a medication and or a treatment plan more benefits than horns. Right now we cannot be certain of that because we dont have randomized controlled results done yet, but we see promise command we see patients that dont have a choice to the benefit and that outweighs the harms. Neil doctor, good catching up with you and i appreciate the guidance on this and the significance of this. Thank you, be well my friend. I want to go to the anchor, sunday, she and bret baier, turning the work to town hall, virtually with the president of the United States, martha come i would imagine this will be a subject that comes up on sunday. I was just fascinated watching all of that in the oval office with the gilead ceo in listening to your interview with the doctor. I was reminded of something dr. Felt she said yesterday in the oval office about this drug. He was very elated and he said for the first time, we know that there is a drug that can block the virus once it is in motion. And i think obviously, that is such a big deal because before this, you know, we sort of didnt know if there was anything that could put any parameter on the length of this experience for people who suffer with covid19. So it is a very promising development, a treatment, obviously, not a cure, but it is very encouraging to know there is something that we know this virus doesnt like. Neil yeah, that is a very good point. And coming up with you and brett and chatting with the president and the likes is as you said it is a treatment and not a cure but so is the initial attack on hiv. It was a treatment that prevented people from dying. So that is significant in and of itself. Absolutely. It was interesting hearing the president talk about the work that has gone into aids research and dr. Deborah birx is the champion of that work all around the globe where it continues in many places to be, you know, continue to have such a devastating impact on lives. I think, obviously, as we are talking to the president on sunday night, all of this, you look at what are the economic questions . Of course we start with ppp and the Small Businesses, the large businesses, people laid off, obviously, all fundamental, serious questions we want to address. But then you look at the peripheral issues such as a treatment, such as a vaccine, those things go of course to the confidence building in the economy and the confidence building in people who want to make decisions about whether or not they will go out, go to a restaurant, go to a hair salon and how quickly based on these other elements which are health and medically based. As you well know, it plays into the whole system of the economy. So these are all questions we want to press him on. Neil and im sure you wil will. One thing, martha, we discussed in the past, as promising as all the stimulus and relief to boost the economy mallorca when the case, the average American People, progress on the virus itself is going to dictate where we go. I did notice Gilead Sciences stock was down but the stock was down for economic reasons. But i do think given the enormous run up we have seen at gilead prior to this, there is hope and that is what people need. Forget investors, there is hope there, right . Absolutely. And i just think there are a lot of parallels to the post 9 11 period when everyone, especially the new York New Jersey area and this is the hardest hit area again. Concerned with what life would be like afterwards. Would you travel or drive into the city . If you want to go to crowded places. All of those concerns for obviously very different catalyst 9 11 and covid19. A lot of the similar fears that help the economy back in the initial bas days, weeks, months after that. I am encouraged when i look back at that because i remember america wants to get back out there and obviously we want to do it safely. I think once there is treatment, that will give people encouragement that this is not necessarily a death sentence if it happens to you. Those sorts of things will go a long ways for peoples Comfort Level getting back out there, which i know everybody really, really wants to do. Neil all right, martha come i look forward to the special again. For folks who have questions for martha, bret baier, and the president of the United States, eastern time, that should be one to watch. We will have a lot more after this as well as the president getting ready to honor some heroes, but they are not they heroes you might think. So where you go, the pro goes. Go with align. The pros in digestive health. And if stress worsens your digestive issues, try new align digestive destress. It combines aligns probiotic with ashwagandha to help soothe occasional digestive upsets, plus stress that can make them worse. And try align gummies with probiotics to help support digestive health. To deliver your mail and packages and the peace of mind of knowing that essentials like prescriptions are on their way. Every day, all across america, we deliver for you. And we always will. Neil all right the president moments away from honoring some of the nations heroes due to the coronavirus crisis. But they are not military guys. They are not business types. They are kind of like you and me only heroic. Listen to this. Yes, the first word to any adventure, but. Yes to allegra. Im your mother in law. Yes to allegra. And i like to question your every move. Like this left turn. Its the next one. You always drive this slow . How did you make someone i love . That must be why youre always so late. I do not speed. And thats saving me cash with drivewise. My son, he did say that you were the safe option. And thats the nicest thing you ever said to me. So get allstate. Stop bossing. Where good drivers save 40 for avoiding mayhem, like me. This is my sons favorite color, you should try it. [mayhem] you always drive like an old lady . [tina] youre an old lady. Neil welcome back, everybody. The president making big news at the white house today. Gilead sciences announcing the fda on fast track with emergency approval for those who might want some access to remdesivir. This is that drug with promising reaction, certainly for those who need it. Early on and it could be very, very severe cases. So they are warning emergency use because it does dramatically speed up recovery. I want to go to lee carter waiting for the president to honor some heroes in this whole coronavirus crisis. Some are just kids but it is a reminder it comes in all shapes and forms. Before we get to that, thank you for joining us. Lee carter. This whole announcement with remdesivir and the significance of it, we obviously dont want to get ahead of it, but to be approved emergency rush to get it out to those who needed, the first promising sign we have had. That is a Significant Development, is it not . It is a Significant Development. The one thing the president has continuously done throughout this is highly did innovation that is coming. The company that are simply trying to make medical advances that are going to help us. This is a significant advancement. Think people have been waiting for a moment where they can take a sigh of relief and have some hope. This is one of those moments that i think we can all be thankful. Neil you know, one of the best reads of people in their thinking and sentiment, we hold them all the time and i love the meters when you are sensing what they are sensing. And ive always had a view even though i cant hover wall street and the market might like to remind investors they are people, the same motivation, the same fear and anxieties. And ive noticed that they move on promising developments with the virus itself. They dont necessarily move on stimulus. We have already spent from the follow and shelter and everything else. So i think that will decide the course and certainly the markets. I suspect after the people, quickly go out, returned to work and do the things we were doing prior to all of this. But what is your sense of the national move on this whole virus . You know, my sense is the mood in the country is very, very mixed. I think there are places where everybody cannot wait to get back out. In they feel this is a lot to do about nothing. And some places in the country, big cities like new york and the coast where people are really feeling nervous and feeling cautious. Feeling like we have to be very, very careful about our return. So i think it is sort of much like the country has been for a long time. We are very, very divided. And it is i dont want to say across party lines because i think there is some sense of geography a little bit different based on where you sit, how you will feel about this moment. But it is very, very different. I do think there are a lot of people who want caution. They want to make all of the right moves here appear they want to hear about all of the thinking, everything going back into the reopening. I think the president is wise because i do think this is a statebystate feeling infringement. Im not going to say normalcy but i dont think we will go back to the way we were before. But i think it is something that will be so different based on where you live. Neil you know, while i have you, lee, the Podium Press Conference we saw more than a year at the white house. How do you think that Kayleigh Mcenany did . She did a phenomenal job. It is not an easy job getting up there as press secretary for the president , especially in these times when things have been very, very difficult over recent weeks. I think she is steadfast and super, super smart. Very, very quick. Her experience with the media and press came through. Very well prepared. I think this is very necessary for the president to have a wellspoken, well thought, you know, advisor who will be in that role. Somebody who will be out there. I think the president s lack of discipline has certainly heard him over the last several weeks and having someone like her at his side who is able to speak. She promises to do something regularly cometh daily, weekly, but i think it will help the president in meaningful ways. Neil we do know that the president enrolled this sort of thing. And we had it with sean spicer and thin sanders and then all of a sudden, i would imagine he just wants to reinforce, especially during this time as much access and help from the press as he can, but with limits. I was just wondering how long do you see this going . The president has made himself quite available to the press. Very long exchanges with the press. Is this the future or more of what he is doing . I think we will end up now seeing more of a mix. I think he had his regular briefings through the apex and some of the worst days of the crisis. I think he will continue to do the briefings. He will be wise to do that. And i think Kayleigh Mcenany will provide a really great opportunity and if i were to guess and advise the president , what i would be saying right now, have your regular briefings with dr. Fauci and do those kind of things regularly. Dont open up yourselves for questions but allowed yourself to come dont make the questions to come into him. Neil lee carter, good to catch up with you, my friend. Great to see you. Neil we will be following the president of the United States, a special white house event plan to honor those who have been so helpful in this crisis. They are not the kind of names you would randomly think of, but they are heroes. The way they have gone about going way beyond what anyone would think to help out and help out the country and helping each other in their hometowns and in the nation. Neil what would happen, senator, the business feeling emboldened by Liability Protection that it doesnt do basic things like masts and other protection for workers because it might feel it is legally bulletproof and doesnt have to . It is a good question. You have to carefully craft Liability Protection to deal with the money that would be supplied to state and local governments, condition to fund them and i think at the state level, the kind of legislature that would provide Liability Protection to those who are seeking to go forward and get the economy back up to work. Neil all right, its been a heated debate right now, the republicans and democrats, and Mitch Mcconnell advocated filing for bankruptcy. Dialing that back unwilling aid for the state if they are willing to entertain some Liability Protection for companies that might open up for business and workers there. Who contract the coronavirus or worse more than infected or contracted a period and liable for a lot of money. A number of people have reacted to that. And going nowhere fast, nancy pelosi among them. I talked to a number of congressmen and senators early today including kevin brady in the house who is telling me, he is open to this idea, but where it goes from here is anyones guess, especially now that we have the senate coming back, but not the house coming back right away. So that will complicate things. Mike emanuel joins us from capitol hill. Mike, it sounds like the two sites are far apart, but im wondering if even limited Liability Protection would be the answer. What do you think . You are absolutely right. What i am hearing from republican leaders, they dont want Small Businesses or medical professionals who are basically done things that they think might save a life being targeted after this is all over by attorneys filing frivolous lawsuits or what they would consider frivolous lawsuits. So there needs to be some kind of Liability Protection in the next negotiations. So basically you have both sides setting the outline and parameters of what they want to put on the table ahead of that negotiation, House Speaker nancy pelosi yesterday sang state aid to local governments as high as 1 trillion. That made some fiscal conservative eyes pop out of their head at a time when we are running close to 4 trillion deficit already this year. We will see if that balloons even further. To throw another 1 trillion in the pot for state and local governments come obviously hit hard by the court coronavirus pandemic and of course they will help with coronavirus related money. But there are some concerns from conservative states, some of that money could be used to perhaps build out publicsector Pension Plans that were already in trouble well before the coronavirus pandemic, neil. Neil are right, mike emanuel, thank you very much. The white house right now this event where the president will honor people. When one of their clients told him his restaurant had been hit hard, libby raffaella decided they wanted to do something to help. They began raising money to buy food from restaurants to donate to local hospitals. Within a few weeks, they have raised over 6,000, made 18 deliveries and fed over 500 Health Care Workers. And libby and rafael, please come i would like to thank you and acknowledge you by having you step forward and say a few words, please, please, please. [applause] thank you mr. President. So we are Real Estate Agents in the d. C. Area. This mission came about after receiving a phone call from our clients who work in the food and Beverage Industry here. They give us an insight on what covid19, how the impact had on their business. From there we felt compelled to act. And so we started t to gofundme can paint with additional business. Took money, ordered cater directly from the restaurant and dropped it off with different staff working with hospitals arounaround the area tirelessly, obviously pier the campaign started picking up, so we started doing more donations. We kept dropping off, but we also increased our goal. We kept dropping off at different hospitals around the area. So another really cool factor that we did to sprinkle that is we started compiling videos of some of our contributors and expressing their gratitude in those videos being sent with the food dropoffs. Yeah, so mr. President already addressed most of this but we named Campaign Front line fuel and helped over 18 local businesses and delivered meals to nurses and doctors in the area. Over 500 nurses and doctors. We partnered with local tea company to produce Hand Sanitizer and include in our drop off an added bonus. Our mission is simple. We want to help local business but also encouraging and helping Health Care Workers who are selflessly working around the clock to ensure the health of our people. Thank you, mr. President , for this opportunity and the honor to be here today. [applause] President Trump thanks very much. Great job. Tall guy, right . How tall are you . 68, that is a good height. We honor a sophomore from mclean, virginia. Tj hopes to serve as a pilot for the United States navy. Just at 16 years old, 16 is a great age. Tj is taking flight classes to get his pilots license. When he heard that hospitals needed more personal protective equipment, he launched his own Mission Operation sos supplies over the skies. He worked with the school, church, community to collect medical supplies with the help of the Flight Instructor who probably was a very good person. Good Flight Instructor too. You better take your instructions from somebody who knows how to fly. And tj has flown and delivered more than 10,000 pieces of personal protective equipment. Thats a lot of work and a lot of flying too. And there can be no better preparation for flying a military plane, right . Nothing better. But you go into four rural hospitals in virginia, so tj, come on up and say a few words please. [applause] thank you, mr. President. I am beyond humbled to be here today. My name is tj cain, and i am a sophomore in maryland. A little over a month ago i turned 16 when due to coronavirus, my school year and my lacrosse season were effectively over. All i had left was my Flight Training. Ever since i was nine and has been my dream to attend the naval academy. I talked to my dad about ways that i could continue my Flight Training while serving the community at the same time. We came up with operation sos meaning supplies over the skies. My home state of virginia i found that there are seven critical access hospitals serving the Rural Communities around them. And i realize well every hospital is searching for ppes, it was the rural hospitals that were forgotten about. So i wanted to do something to help them bless them. I flew four sos missions to luray cabin, winchester, the highlands of hot springs, and the northern half i sourced 8,000 medical gloves, 2,000 head covers, 1,500 shoe covers, 400 masks, as well as protective eyewear, isolation gowns, Hand Sanitizers, and disinfectant sprays. Throughout my journey i have learned two lessons. First is that it takes a community to serve the community. What i mean is that i am blessed by an Incredible Community that includes my family, my teachers and peers, my flight school, my neighborhood, and my church. It has been their support that has allowed me to complete each operation successfully. Second, i have learned that you are never too young to ink of how to serve others in times of need. Mr. President , you said that america is the place where anyone can rise, and today there are youth everywhere in America Rising up to help someone deliver groceries to the elderly, and deliver inky notes to the front line workers. And when i think about them, i realize how undeserving i am to be here. I dont know how to repay you, let me make you this promise instead, as long as there is a need and as long as i can find a ppes and fly them tow rural hospitals, im going to do it. I promise to continue to rise and be a service to my campus, my community, my commonwealth, and my country. Thank you. [applause] President Trump how about standing up . Was he a great student . You did a good job, young man. Thank you. Thank you, sir. President trump fantastic story. So a man that i know because i spent a lot of time and spend in a place called staten island, right, frank, a really special place, i spent many an hour, many a day with my father there over the years, and its just great. Nearly two decades ago, frank founded an Organization Called tunnel to towers to support the loved ones of the fallen First Responders and service members. He began this mission to honor the legacy of his younger brother, firefighter stephen siller, so he is looking down right now and says my brother is in the white house doing a real job. He is very proud of you. I know how hard he worked. Coming from new york, especially, frank, i know how hard you work, and you have done a fantastic job. We appreciate it very much. But he was one of the immortal heroes who gave his life on september 11th, 2001. As the virus began to spread in new york earlier this year, he left into action. And hope to raise money to deliver more than 1 million pieces of personal protective equipment. Thats a lot for hospitals in the city. And delivering food to fire houses and phone stations and police stations, and all sorts of places across new york and new jersey. He also raised over 5 million we will monitor this now as we head off to the five.
