Candidates are preceding as normal. They are on the ground, they are meeting with as many people as they can to make sure their supporters caucus saturday and vote early. Elizabeth warren is holding rally inside this building behind me to get her voters to do that. We have seen the front runners in nevada in the last few days going to rallies, meeting with supporters at campaign offices, trying to get them to knock on as many doors as they can. Senator Bernie Sanders walked with his supporters to a polling location on the first day when early voting began. There is pressure as to whether or not the issues that occurred in iowa will happen again here. Party Officials Say absolutely not. They are ready for this. They had plans to use the same results recording app used in iowa, they got rid of the app and changed course after the issues in iowa. They are using technology that is stealth technology, not newly developed. Four people will record the results, technology that google has created and overseen and run through with all of them, as well as backup paper records. The real test will be saturday. For now, Party Officials will be ready. I spoke to a couple people involved in different caucuses over the weekend, they seem optimistic things will be okay. There are some fears in nevada about pressure that would happen in iowa. Party officials are doing everything they can to avoid that. We will see soon. Neil. Thank you very much. Sanders camp, worried about latest reports Michael Bloomberg is thinking of highlight as potential running mate . Senators wife jane, put that to rest with me on my saturday show this past weekend. Take a look. Mayor bloomberg can choose whoever he wants for a running mate, but hes not going to get there. There is a push to find alternative to your husband, what do you make of that . Well, i think its pretty obvious. I think hes running a campaign thats not me, us, it is about getting working class a fair shake, being able to provide medicare for all, affordable healthcare, affordable education and green new deal. The powers that be and status quo that dont want him to do those things. They are using lots of other reasons why they dont support him. What shes saying is the trend is, the friend of her husband, strategist Lloyd Matheson and wendy wallace. Wendy, what do you make of what she is saying, if this is about to intimidate us, bloomberg and hilary, she is not bowing and now in awe, what do you think . First of all, thank you for having me on, neil. It is extremely early to be discussing the vp pick and even earlier for nobody that has no delegates at all right now. What is the focus for all the Democratic Candidates in the primary is about making sure voters have affordable healthcare, making sure there is funding for education, making sure those Kitchen Table issues that keep people up at night are really being addressed and that is how democrats won governorships in red states, like kentucky and kansas. That is where the focus is. You know, all of this occurs within the same roughly 2448 hour period, we get drip, drip pez dispenser release of embarrassing tapes of Michael Bloomberg from years ago. This one in particular that might be deemed as rattling farmers. I want you to respond to this. I can teach anybody, even people in this room, no offense intended, to be a farmer. It is process. You dig a hole, put seed in, add water, up come the corn. You could learn that. You have 300 years of the industrial, you put piece of metal on the lath, turn the crank the direction of arrow and cuhave a job. Neil did he sacrifice the gain hes been making with that and other comments hes made . I think that is so typical of techno cratic elitest, the most important line of world as far as material well being of people go. I think that combined with talk of potentially hillary as a running mate drives the message this is a campaign that is out of touch. Im no fan of Bernie Sanders, im a conservative catholic, but bernie has a message, a vision of the good society. I may disagree with much of it, but it is an idea and so does President Trump and then you have this kind of technoshgcratic middle, the likes of major bloomberg and hillary would represent that, as well, it is insulting. The fact hes not campaigning in states, not shaking hands, just rolling in with vast amounts of money should offend anyone, democratic sensibility. Neil the numbers indicate he has to do everything to avoid Bernie Sanders winning on first ballot. I raise that with jake sanders this past weekend, she was saying in the past we had nominees get to convention, not necessarily with majority, but with 1991 you would need to be nominated, but darn close. In other words, most should, what do you think of that argument . Yeah, i think it will be a real challenge, given the number of campaigns that are out there and because of social media, you dont have to get out as early. It used to be one or two tickets out of iowa or New Hampshire, possibly, but now were going to see that continue on all the way to convention. People dont have that motivati motivation. They can hang around, maybe somebody stumbles, have an old gaffe, and old reports come up, able to hang through. Bigger test, what do you do for people, center left folks . Where do they really fit . Those that are more in the pragmatic category, maybe more Amy Klobuchar types of folks. It is clear that hilary is not the answer. Even amongst americans who dislike President Trump, over half of those folks think it would be worse if hilary were in office. Nadoesnt help momentum. Bloombergs biggest challenge, hes not connecting with people individually. Have you to invite people to do something, what Bernie Sanders does better than anyone, invites them to be part of a movement. Neil if this is all about trying to get someone not to be chosen on first ballot, super delegates enter on second ballot, who were universally behind hilary at the time, there is a strategy, the thing of lightning strikes twice and same super bell gats now embolden with hilary potentially on bloomberg ticket, it might go that way, or is that a leap . I think that that is a very large leap, in fact. I think what it will really boil down to is democratic nominees represent that and theres really no need to bring hilary into the conversation. Neil all right. I was foolish to try to lead with it. Guys, thank you, you did a great job. I do appreciate it. To hear a lot of democrats tell it, this is not the trump job boom, it is the obama job boom. Just ask barack obama himself. The former president had to say today thats got republicans fuming today . We compare spreadsheets, you decide who is spreading the sheet. the sun is risin as the day begins time for reflectin on family and friends and hey, we got somethin just for you sniffing its a cup of your favoriiiite. loud splashing highpitched laughter dang woodchucks with geico, the savings keep on going. But for you, one pill a day may provide symptom relief. Ask your doctor about xeljanz xr. An unjection™. Its unacceptable that americans pay vastly more than people in other countries, for the exact same drugs. But they arent listening. Theyve just raised the prices of over five hundred drugs. President trump supports a bipartisan plan, that would force Drug Companies to lower prices. But the senate wont act. Tell Senate Leaders to stop Drug Company Price Gouging and lower drug prices now. howling wind howling wind neil when the good news is really good, no doubt a president would like to talk about it. This president likes to talk about the economy, jobs and unemployment lowest you have seen since man walked on the moon for the first time. His predecessor saying not so fast, barack obama tweeting, 11 years ago today, i signed the recovery act, paving way for a decade of Economic Growth and longest streak of job creation in american history. Can democrats claim credit or . Credit for the, economist steve moore is with us, suzanne crabtree, you seem to be on board with that, what do you snng yeah, jimmy carter was responsible for the reagan boom, too. Trump will try to bring back mining jobs, how is he going to do that . Three years later, there are bluecollar jobs. On the campaign in 2016, we would go to michigan and pennsylvania and West Virginia and kentucky and ask people, i would always ask people, how is that recovery going for you, neil, people would say, what recovery are you talking about . It is good economy if you live in Silicon Valley or hollywood or washington, d. C. , but rest of the country, not so much. 36 of American People rated the economy good or great during the obama presidency. Today almost 70 rate the economy good or great. Neil numbers can be funny things, i get that. The fact of the matter is, it was not as if donald trump inherited a depression. We had gone from early days of Obama Administration losing a Million Dollars a month to gaining in the last. Eclipse three years of job gains under this president. We can play fast and loose with numbers on either side, not meaning to disparage steve at all. This notion both men can take a bow, what do you think . Yeah, i think that is actually right. The democrats right now are very desperate to put the brakes on trumps momentum, obvious momentum with economy and strength in the economy. You had a gallup poll out saying 90 of americans, record high, are happy with personal lives including financial personal wealth and their prospect asks 61 feel like they are better off and more satisfied than they were three years ago, that is basically the definition of winning candidacy for president , are you better off than you were three years ago, that is what reagan said and it did well for him. What you do need, when you break down the numbers, you do have to give president obama some credit. The last three years of has presidency, he produced 8. 1 million jobs, new jobs in the first three years of trumps presidency, you have 6. 1 million jobs, estimates. You do have a slower recovery going on now, but the issue is, i think, is hes building on an already stable economy. This is like more growth and people are already satisfied. Neil tip of the hat to both president s in that regard. I think steve, your old boss can look at this and say ive taken what many view to be full employment and made it fuller. All demographic groups, all groups of americans from whites to hispanics, African Americans, women, are looking at record low unemployment levels and americans in gallup poll seem to give this president a tip on that one. Where do you think this goos . When people crunch it down, what will be the winning argument . Well, look, here we are three years, the trump presidency, i worked on the campaign, it is rather rich for people like barack obama and economists at harvard and yale and princeton, and neil, you remember, if donald trump is elected president , he will cause a second great depression, he will enjoy the stock market. Neil i think paul said that. They all said it, krugman was most wrong of all. My point, three years later, same people said trump would destroy the economy, we have the best economy in 50 years, say obama deserves the credit. I think that is hard to square with the facts. The other thing, susan, the problem with your analysis on jobs, is the big boost that has happened under trump has been what happened with wages and income n. Three years, Median Household Income gone up 4000 under trump, in eight years under obama, went up only 1000. Middle class is seeing huge increase. Neil you are no, no, no, the incomes, median income, more people working. Look at family income, those are going faster than they did under obama. Neil looking at overall wage. Guys, thank you, i wish we had more time. We dont. Meantime, growing court, that was a joke, by the way. Justice Department Employees demanding bill barr to go. What is weird, the case it involved is roger stone case, where there was bias on the part of the foreperson for that case. Not a peep about that. After this. The easy way to a happier business. [ fastpaced drumming ] neil all right, more than a thousand exjustice Department Employees, demanding bill barr resign over handling of roger stone case. The fact she was democratic operative with clear bias against the president , should she have been on the jury in the first place . Here is more on the implications of all of this. When you know the willing process far better than i, republicans are saying throw out the whole case. Where does this go, this particular aspect with, you know, the jury foreperson having clear biases and a record of social media attacks on the president and those around him, including roger stone . Sure, that really boils down to what she disclosed during the trial, whether she committed fraud in the voirdire process. Yes, it is possible that there could be cause for a new trial altogeth altogether, but that comes down to how the jury Selection Process took place, what was disclosed and how the attorneys decided to seat that panel. Neil we get different did in fact chair statements she had made about the president , i dont know about the ones that called him white supremacist racist who supported him were shared, but nevertheless did and say they did allow her on, i can be neutral observer here, would that fly and ultimately is that her fault, they went ahead and both sides approved her to join the jury pool. Exactly. Depe depends on questions and that might have played out the wrong way f. She was honest and disclosed information, that will probably not invalidate the trial. Does it make a difference if she said anything critical about roger stone himself and a judge looking at this could say, you know what, maybe this is too much. I dont know if it would be the same judge, who would rule on this whole sentencing issue, does it change at least that debate . It changes it to the extent she falsely disclosed information. Any jury Selection Process, youll be asked questions about what knowledge you have of the case, of the advantage, people involved, whether that impacted you, if she denied knows about the case or circumstances or making Public Comments about it, that could be a huge issue. Again, it comes down to what questions were asked, what the attorneys decided to prioritize in making final selections there. Neil let me ask you, this, katie, is it unusual for the Justice Department or those in the top places in the Justice Department, hearing about a recommendation, sentence of up to nine years, to intervene . Ive heard sometimes, quietly, silently they do. What made a difference here that the president intervened or might be free to do so, but it elevated this entire matter. What do you think . I think that a. G. Barrs decision to intervene was irrespective of the president s opinion on it. I dont think the president did himself any favors offering the opinion, barrs decision to intervene with extreme recommendation was appropriate. That does happen in certain cases. The question you have, did prosecutors run this recommendation all the way up the flag pole to the d. O. J. Before they offered that . These are just recommendations from the prosecutors, just d. O. J. Employees offering their opinion of the case. And from what it looks like, they are claiming barrs interference was political, but it seems the first offering of the sentence recommendation was more political than anything else. Neil you think it was a setup on their part . I think it very well could have been a calculated decision to offer this extreme sentence recommendation, in my opinion, and in a. G. Barrs opinion and have the reaction they did to claim some conspiracy. But i really dont see it that way, i dont think a. G. Barr was acting because the president asked him to. I think he was acting independently. Neil it continues. I appreciate it. You think Michael Bloomberg is alienating farmers from comments, hear what he says about Bernie Sanders supporters like now. Audreys on it. Eating right. And staying active . On it audrey thinks shes doing all she can to manage her type 2 diabetes and heart disease, but is her treatment doing enough to lower her heart risk . Maybe not. Jardiance can reduce the risk of cardiovascular death for adults who also have known heart disease. So it could help save your life from a heart attack or stroke. And it lowers a1c. Jardiance can cause serious side effects including dehydration, genital yeast or urinary tract infections, and sudden kidney problems. Ketoacidosis is a serious side effect that may be fatal. A rare, but lifethreatening bacterial infection. In the skin of the perineum could occur. Stop taking jardiance and call your doctor right away if you have symptoms of this bacterial infection,. Ketoacidosis, or an allergic reaction and dont take it if youre on dialysis or have severe kidney problems. Taking jardiance with a sulfonylurea or insulin may cause low blood sugar. Lower a1c and lower risk of a fatal heart attack . On it with jardiance. Ask your doctor about jardiance. We do things differently and aother money managers, dont understand why. Because our way works great for us but not for your clients. Thats why were a fiduciary, obligated to put clients first. So, what do you provide . Cookie cutter portfolios . Nope. We tailor portfolios to our clients needs. But you do sell investments that earn you high commissions, right . We dont have those. So, whats in it for you . Our fees are structured so we do better when our clients do better. At Fisher Investments were clearly different. Neil now apple is citing coronavirus issue that it could impact own revenue target. For sparklingclean dishes, the first time. Cascade platinum. It is vitally important for those of us who hold different views to be able to engage in a civil discourse. Neil thats considered nasty . The Bloomberg Campaign is hitting back at Bernie Sanders in new ad calling out the democrat for his supporters behavior s. That a Winning Strategy . Joe, good to have you. What do you think . I think that Michael Bloomberg is already outspending Bernie Sanders at an enormous rate, neil. When you look at the numbers, he spent four times as much as bernie already, 10 times much as biden, 20 times as much as klobuchar. This guy jumped in obviously late into this racea, hasnt even been on one debate stage yet, done some campaigning, not much. Hes letting his money do the talking, advantage, being eighth richest person in the country, none of the other candidates have. That is why you see him jumping up in the polls, neil. Neil i dont believe they have done posttape pollings about the embarrassing comments weve heard out of the mayor that go back years, i wonder if there is an effect to that. A lot is happening, even the talk he wants hilary on the ticket with him. What do you make of how this is sorting out . The highlight Hilary Clinton story is interesting. She lost, first democrat since the 1980s, key states, she didnt campaign in wisconsin. The last poll i saw on her likeability was gallup poll, 36 . Here you have divisive figure 02 in president ial campaign, one third of the country likes and you want to bring her on board, a fellow new yorker, doesnt give you eshg lectoral advantage, that sdr doesnt make any sense whatsoever. Neil what doesnt make sense, where the Democratic Party seven the way the media follows it, there is concern Bernie Sanders admirable, could never win a general election, concern on the part to do everything they can to avoid him getting the nomination. And then, the concern about Michael Bloomberg hes buying his way there, so they are not really copusstetic on them, where is their mind set . I dont know what or who the Democratic Party is right now, right . What is the Bumper Sticker . With trump i know what the Bumper Sticker is and was, make America Great again, build that wall. It is easy to understand. With Democratic Party, if they are running on raising taxes, im old enough to remember, walter mondale, he said i will raise taxes, he won one state. Does the Democratic Party, you are telling me the guy they loathe more than anything in the world, that sits in the white house, right now, new yorkbased white millionaire, they will nominate the new yorkbased white billionaire, the woke party is who they will back . Maybe he seems safest choice, i thought he was formidable candidate because of his rating in new york and the way new yorkers look at his term. Hes been successful in business, but boy, between farmers and women and African Americans, all these tapes being unearthed, there will not be many people left to insult by the time we get to super tuesday. Neil one thing jane sanders, Bernie Sanderss wife relayed to me over the weekend, this idea, look, were the leader here, technically, buttigieg is, but so early. Saying we won iowa, New Hampshire hire, well win in nevada. Her sense, well arrive in milwaukee, the convention site, well have by far the most delegates, im paraphrasing, i dont want to misquote her. What do you make of that argument . In the past, the most delegates usually goes on to win, in this case, though issue the party will do everything as it stands now to avoid that. It seems that way, you are seeing establishment figures like james carvolt, from 92, this will be into days if Bernie Sanders gets elected and i dont think nominated. The party, the establishment in 2016, seeing it again, does not want him to be the nominee. I go back to Bumper Stickers, President Trump speaks in broad strokes, capitalism, socialismism, who you got . In the end, given the way the economy is going, socialism will win out on that Bumper Sticker. Neil joe, very good, remembering 1984, i didnt think you were born, but ill play along. Yeah, you know, four years old, it was fuzzy. Mondale and taxes. Neil there you go again, joe, thank you very much. On to this quarantine situation for evacuating americans, off the ship and now in deeper ship. Im your 70lb st. Bernard puppy, and my lack of impulse control, is about to become your problem. Ahh no, come on. I saw you eating poop earlier. My focus is on the road, and thats saving me cash with drivewise. Nyquil severe gives you powerful relief for your worst cold and flu symptoms, on sunday night and every night. Nyquil severe. The nightime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, best sleep with a cold, medicine. Neil well, forcing american vacuees, who tested positive for coronavirus. Live outside Travis Air Force base in california. Thats right, neil, a sense of relief for 340 americans who are finally off of that toxic cruise ship and more anxiety amid confirmation from the u. S. State department that at least 14 of these evaevacuees tested positive. The group had boarded buses in japan and headed to the airport, escorted by Japanese Health workers. Patients were kept in an isolated section on the aircraft and being treated in omaha at university of nebraska medical center. Another twoweek quarantine begins on base here and lackland in texas, second charter flight landed this morning. A couple from syracuse say they are ready to put this nightmare vacation behind them. We are exhausted, but were on the plane. Thats a good feeling. Pretty miserable wearing these masks, though, and having to go to the bathroom on the bus. Five hours on the bus waiting to get off the bus. Oh, crazy. Crazy. Then nine plus hour flight on plane with patients who might be contagious, the very reason some passengers decided not to take the charter flights back to the u. S. Their original twoweek quarantine in japan is set to end any day now, it could be a few weeks before they are given the all clear to return home. Other countries, including canada and hong kong are chartering flights to evacuate off the diamond princess, called a hot spot for the coronavirus. Back at Travis Air Force base, the cruise ship evacuees will be housed in a different 14day quarantine is set to end this week. Back to you. Neil thank you very much, claudia was reporting, not everyone keen on leaving the trip. One that i talked to on my weekend show was reluctant to leave at all. Take a look. The government has indicated weve got a plane coming to get you guys out of there, you are not keen on it. Why not . No. I tweeted days ago that i wanted the u. S. Government to stay out of it, our greatest desire is to maintain the quarantine the Japanese Health officials have established and then get a test for the virus after the end of the quarantine, so we can establish with relative certainty we are not infected and could be free to go. Neil all right, another advantage from mr. Smith and his wife, they are in a big suite, not in a tiny room, they have a balkany, they can move around, have more freedom and flexibility. Theyd rather that thap the unknown going to the United States, being requarantined, from what we understand, they remain on the ship and have not taken the u. S. Up on the faufr to be flown back home. The director, is with us now. Doctor, did they make a mistake . Do you think that couple made a mistake not taking the u. S. Up on the offer to come back home . I dont want to judge whether they made a mistake or not, i could tell you if i were in their shoes, i would want to get on a plane and get back here. Clearly on the ship, there was transition of infection. Whether or not it was postquarantine process or not is unclear. But i think that the thing that we felt strongly about is that we wanted to get our people off that ship and safely and comfortably as possible back to the United States to complete their 14day quarantine. Dr. Anthony fauci. For those to be shipped as several were to nebraska to be able to be taken care of under the conditions of experienced people. My choice certainly would have been to get off the boat, to get on the plane and come back home. Neil doctor, i guess the reinfection, the possibility may be, there is report coming out of tap ai that says it is possible to get infected by the coronavirus a second time and it could lead to death from heart failure, in some cases with much more dangerous and provocative symptoms. Rare possibility of getting reacquainted with the disease, how first of all, how much of a threat is that . Are they right . The Second Time Around it could be more dangerous . I think we need to take that with a grain of salt. There are a lot of reports coming out that are not Peer Reviewed, they are just trying to get information out as quickly as possible. Then on reexamination, it turns out under skrut nee may not be the case. I dont want to pass judgment on that, i would be careful we dont draw conclusions based on a single report that is not Peer Reviewed by scientific evaluation. Neil doctor, also, people cling to the slightest bit of good news out of china. Mania were making significant deal out of report this morning that the number of new cases in china that hit a threeweek low. What does that mean to you, or are people getting ahead of themselves here . A couple of days in a row of account in a difficult situation to actually accurately count, to me, im a bit skeptical. I hope that it is correct, we are seeing a trend in the number of cases that are coming down, but until i see a consistent trend day after day after day, i wouldnt jump to any positive conclusions. I hope theyre right, but im not absolutely convinced, so lets wait and see what happens. Neil wise words. Doctor, thank you for taking the time, i appreciate it. Good to be with you. Neil nevada might be next up, something tells me joe biden is looking to another state, after this. South carolina is it, isnt it . You have to win that . I think i have to do really well in it. Bill clinton lost eight, 10, 12 primaries before he won one, i do not plan to take that long. We are getting to the meat to get the number of delegates you need to win this election. Im confident well be in good shape. Neil that is joe biden, talking about early primary losses, saying his focus is on other states. His lead in South Carolina, where he is placing big bets, is not as big as it was, what does his Campaign Look Like from here . John, good to have you. Thanks, neil neil other candidates have come back, bill clinton, the former Vice President s point, among those in recent times. What do you think of his argument, let me show my stuff in states more friendly to me . Well, hes got to win somewhere. That was the major argument he had going into this Campaign Issue the fact he was the guy that beat donald trump. Now hes had two devastating losses, he didnt come in second place or bunched up in third place, it was fourth and fifth, iowa and New Hampshire. Beating expectations is fine for iowa and New Hampshire, hes got to win South Carolina. That was his firewall. That is the African American support, 6061 of the vote that he needs and that is slipping right now. Neil when you say slipping, i know sometimes it is based on what people perceive, Lyndon Johnson won New Hampshire in 1968 and mccarthy was due and next thing we know johnson is stepping out of the race, not comparing the two other than about expectations. The expectations had been very high for the former Vice President in this state, what would be disappointment in your eyes, john . John hes got to win the African American vote in South Carolina by 1215 pou points. That will be enough, you know, for him to actually win. But the thing is that were seeing already a division among younger African Americans than older African Americans. Older African Americans, over the age of 45 or so, he is soaring, but under 45 or so, hes just barely hanging on against Bernie Sanders and surprisingly tom steyer, as well. Neil its got to be double digits . John it has to be double digits, this is his firewall. And you know, hes go the to prove he is not naming out. Neil all right, well watch it closely. Thank you, john. John thank you. Neil apology tour, is it working . After this. If you have moderate to severe psoriasis. Or psoriatic arthritis, little things, can become your big moment. I want to say again how sorry our team is for what happened. I want to say that the whole organization and the entire team feels bad about what happened in 2017. Neil all right, did those series of apologies work . What do you think . Did it work . Look, neil, from a traditional standpoint, you have to remember, it is a multibilliondollar entity. When we talk about this, we are not talking about a general Public Relations issue. This is a Crisis Communications issue given all the consideration involved. In that sense, no. It was a colossal failure that there was a rollout in the 72 hours that followed. Ironically, this is both good and bad for baseball. We are still 60,000 opening day. Yet, there is discussion among baseball. On the bad side, theres a lot at stake. I mentioned the revenue a moment ago. Second ago, weve only seen the first lawsuit. Move forward with baseball. Their bottom line has supported 17 straight years of growth. They are 10. 7 billion. Its in their best interest to put the cap back on and move forward. Neil or just throw the short out. Doug, you are the best, my friend. Thank you very, very much. All right, by the way, just to update you on this apple situation, they reopen tomorrow. This china stuff, its going to affect revenue. There is no denying it now. Is that the start of Something Else thats bigger . We will see it tomorrow. The five. Dana hello everyone, im dana perino along with emily, jesse watters, and greg. Its 5 00 in new york city and this is the five.
