The debates are definitely one of their very first biggest places where these candidates can try to set themselves apart from the others in the pack and prove that yes, im the person that can stand up for my ideas and policies in a debate. If you are money to a candidate, is it really going to stop unless the candidate bombs and conversely if you havent looked at a certain candidate that strikes you is doing very well, does entice you to give money to that candidate . I think it would but it would have to be an individual who gives the stellar performance to change the current trajectory. For a lot of democratic establishment folks, whether they be in the business of giving money or providing their support and some other way, they are looking to see what joe biden is going to do, how well hes going to perform, compared to some of the others. Truthfully speaking, its going to be very difficult for some of those folks like kamala harris, who was in the lower percent, single digits, to move up, unless there is a bombing of joe biden and perhaps Bernie Sanders as well. I think biden has a strong position right now. Youre going to see him try to stay above the fray so to speak in terms of any back and forth. I think youre going to see a lot of secondtier candidates looking for the moment of break out when they can carve out either in issue or moment of clarity or a moment of emotional connection. Neil i dont know how you do that, though, in this environment. You really dont get much time to shine when youre up there with nine other people, right . Certainly. You only have a couple minutes to make your pitch and show who you are. If you are a candidate that comes in and youre trying to make a splash, theres a chance it could backfire and make you look ridiculous or make whoever you are attacking look like why are you attacking them . It makes people feel bad for them. You have to balance authenticity with trying to stand out. Neil getting desperate . Absolutely you can get desperate. I think were going to see whos going to pull the race card on joe biden. He was going through the fiasco last week. In addition, im pretty sure theres going to be individuals looking to hold him down on policy positions because he hasnt really released any.
