Listen here. Am i happy at first glance . I just got to see it. The answer is no, im not. But in my happy with where we are going . Im thrilled. We are supplementing things and moving things around and doing things that are fantastic and taking from far less really, from far less important areas. At the bottom line is we are building a lot of wall. The president says they are building a lot of wall but what they are actually doing is renovating or replacing existing wall that really isnt up to standard. Here we have a game of semantics where if we have an old house and they knock it down to build a new house on the same property, have they built a new house or is it still the existing house . The fact is that they havent built any new length of wall and that is what this appropriation would do. There is also talk about transfer authority to move money around within the administration, to maybe get a few hundred Million Dollars more for the wall. Chuck schumer says, the president cant do that, only congress can give them that authority. Listen here. As for moving around the money, he needs money to do it. He was done in the past by president obama and President Trump but the republicans controlled the house and getting the okay. The president did say earlier today he did not believe there was going to be another Government Shutdown but i was also told by unofficial moments ago that the president will not make a decision on anything until he has seen the legislation and neil as of now he has seen the legislation. Now of course at the capitol where oppressor is building to get something done, it mike emanuel there with the latest. If there still some relief among many lawmakers that there is actually something to consider i had nights deadline. Many are noting its a bipartisan compromise and it is certainly not come mike perfect. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell basically encourage the president to sign it and said it, its a start. First of all i hope he signs a bill and second i think he ought to feel free to use whatever tools he can legally use. A lot of other lawmakers are weighing them out. And, the Senate Democratic leader was he ought to sign the bill and not cause a Government Shutdown. There are great limits on what he can and cannot do and we will have to see what he means. Many lawmakers are hearing from their respective sides what in the bill a lot of them want to read it for themselves and be able to decide. Thank you very, very much. So, what do you think about the prospects or if the president would ultimately sign this . Party pressure might get them to do it but again i think the president end up doing a state of emergency. Neil and so he doesnt do this . He will probably do the state of emergency. But what this bill is symbolic of, if both parties are willing to solve the problem, this is a total waste of time. This does not fix the border crisis, this does not fix border reform. This helps some type of political cover, they are not willing to roll up their sleeves. Both arthur hayes are satisfied with the product. Rare moment of agreement right here. But compromise when both sides are happy or unhappy about something it probably means you get to some level compromise. In this case, im not satisfied with this increased funding, im not satisfied with any hard caps on detention beds. But i think nobody wants to shut down the government again. Very painful to the country and very bad for the president s politics and poll numbers. You could say in the end that a lot of the big measures of people looking forward to it, they arent addressed. Maybe that is punted to another day, much like addressing entitlement spending and the rest. I dont think that will happen anytime soon, we absolutely do need comprehensive reform. I think that he does need to assign the deal. So i disagree with you there. I know that that would be a bigger problem. Thats using a lot of executive power. You generally are not supposed to be in favor of using your power, and how would that affect future president s . Would they be able to do similar sorts of things . I think we need to have a more comprehensive look at immigration and Border Security but i think this is a start. Whats the other option . The other option would be shutting down the government. We thought we had a deal back in december of last year. The president was going to sign off on and he got political blowback. Now we are going to talk to mark meadows, one of the leading conservatives when told is not a big fan of this package. But if he takes a similar blowback, then not just at his base, thats a first time i ever saw the president in danger with his and i do believe you dont believe this can partially address for people that there is more money there than because what the president should do is, and what he said he would do, he compromised to getting Legal Immigration to happen in this country but you also have to secure the border as well. You cannot make the same mistake that Ronald Reagan made and decide, they will do Immigration Reform. I think the president needs to realize, and the activist group, twitter is not life. I know. The vast majority of people in this country including his base dont want a Government Shutdown. And you might have the loudest voices out there but they are not a lot of people are talking about completely abolishing ice. I. C. E. My democratic colleagues will even acknowledge that, they may not like it and i may not like it but the fact of the matter is the president has the ability to do that. Am i disappointed in him . No, im disappointed in congress. Once again, we appropriate amount of money to secure our southern border. We kicked the can down the road. I dont think he would lose his base as long as he follows it up and shows that the American People that hes fighting for them to secure their communities, if hes willing to do that with executive action, i think the vast majority of us, myself included, would certainly recognize that he is doing all he can do to fulfill his promise to the American People. All right. Do you fear though that doing so could risk yet another Government Shutdown . Well, signing this bill does not risk another Government Shutdown. Ive been in favor of doing a continuing resolution that actually would keep the government open while we continue to negotiate and allow the president to do some type of executive action. Primarily because him signing this bill actually acknowledges the poor behavior that we have had from appropriators that says, we are going to actually cut down the amount of money that the president was promised originally, and declare that a victory. Im not in favor of that. I will meet some of my appropriate her colleagues and, today it doesnt look promising. So how many of your colleagues, how many feel the same way you do . It goes well beyond the freedom caucus. I think the most conservative members are having real heartburn today. To prosecutors, one in durham, North Carolina and one in boston, massachusetts, and do they wait until the official has stepped down in this case or can the official investigation go on . In the case of boston, and, in North Carolina where there was no statute of limitations, they can file charges at any time they want. But juries are skeptical when they are trying cases that are 15 and 20 years old. So lets say they agreed whether they are skeptical or not. How is that handled it is unprecedented in the modern times in virginia about whether a conviction or an event that took place before he was in office could trigger an impeachment. Its almost inconceivable that he could stay in office because people would just declined to do anything with him. To talk to him or interact with him. Now all of this fits in the interplay between the governor and his problems, that the Lieutenant Governor would succeed if he leaves. And the attorney general and his problems would become the Lieutenant Governor if the Lieutenant Governor of fairfax leaves. And not only the people in my industry that have surprised me with the wonderful gratings, but some of the people that we are working with building homes and the gold star families that im trying to help and support, i learned so much from those folks and i feel blessed to be an american and be able to do something with the success that ive had in the movie business, to try to do something positive for somebody. I know military service is in your familys blood, your dad was an Navy Photographer during the korean war and you have uncles that served in world war i and theres a lot of service in the family. I know that something that hits a chord with you. Even still, unannounced visits. So many soldiers centers and the rest. What do you think when they see you when they popping . I first started doing it years and years ago. Prior to having csi new york, the show that i was on that lasted for nine years, worrier you and iraq veteran . Yes Something Like that. And they didnt really know neil so the younger soldiers that you talk to, they might not be familiar with some of the oscarnominated work, so how do you explain. It seems like everybody is familiar with forrest gump. Its a movie that wont go away. Its 25 years ago that the movie opened. 25 years this summer, and neil did you have any idea it would be that big . That it would become that big . No, not one we were making. It was an important moment in my life for a couple reasons that are right about that in the book and the significance of it because not only did it change my career and turn a new direction there for my career, it made this connection with our wounded veterans and our Vietnam Veterans and men and women who serve our country. I would never have predicted just playing a character. But you know, about a month after the movie opened, i went to the disabled American Veterans convention and i walked in there, and there were 2500 may be wounded veterans cheering me on for playing lieutenant dan. And it changed my life. Neil if you are a lot more than lieutenant dan. One thing ive always been impressed it seems like im blowing smoke but i am a fan so i have to express my bias. You never wear your politics on your sleeve or got haughtily left or right about things. People said, he supports military, maybe he is unpredictable, but it didnt seem to matter to the right or the left. You are one of those who never made your politics one way or the other an issue. Im wondering if in this day and age, its either or. And its passionate. How do you do that . Im just grateful. Im grateful for living this country for the blessings and the freedoms that i have, for the careers of things that ive been able to do in the success that ive had there. Im grateful that i can use that success to do something positive for other people and especially, the men and women who defend our freedom and sacrifice for it. Theres a lot of people who are banged up because they have went to war and i benefit from those freedom providers. I just want to try to do something to go out there and help them. I write about that in the book and not a one is a big name. Not a one is a big celebrity. Its the salt of the earth men and women. I grew up in chicago, i come from a bluecollar town and my grandfather worked on the railroad. People are leaving for lower tax states, and this is a big problem for cuomo. Again, i cant see anything coming out of this. If he reinstalls, that will add hundreds of billions of dollars to the federal deficit. Its grown to almost a trillion. You see where this is going. The u. S. Treasury cannot afford. We are focusing on the nations weather and snow and ice,. Thats throughout the evening drive in the overnight hours. We are seeing ice along the Boundary Line and eventually snow, everything back behind it, heavy rain. At times very heavy rain for pittsburgh much across ohio. Everything in the green is flood warnings in place as the very heavy rain falls. Once it hits the cold air, we have a winter storm watch. If you do live near the coast, especially southern cities running from d. C. To philadelphia, this has mostly been rain and his light rain right now. Ice along new york city and at times some light snow, and at times some heavy snow. By thursday you are looking at plenty of these locations we are talking about into the middle 40s, getting closer to 40 degrees, so some warm air is just around the corner. Neal, the airports, or the runways i should say at Chicagos Ohare International airport are all open right now. You dont have a bunch of snow piling up but the conditions are just right with the snow and freezing rain and temperatures write about freezing for the formation of ice. So if you look at our current numbers for delays and cancellation, you are talking about roughly 2,000 Flight Cancellations and it looks like ohare and new york are getting the worst of it. Or i should say chicago and new york are getting the worst. A flight and tended to land in detroit to pay respect to congressman john dingell filled with Congress People and dignitaries could not land because of the condition so a Memorial Service was held at 30,000 feet.
