And mike emanuel on capitol hill. We begin with john. John . Neil, good afternoon to you. The president tried for 35 days to break the democrats and could not break them. They held together and so the president was the one that had to back down today and say that were going to open government, but he did get a negotiation over the last 24 hours from the democrats a pledge to negotiate on Border Security. But strikes me that nancy pelosi had been offering that for weeks. I dont know if the president got more of a commitment from the democrats to include funding for a border wall. The white house officials told me that there are a number of democrats that do seem inclined to give the president money for a border barrier, much of which off of the rio grande in the state of texas. The president theres threatening that if the democrats dont give him what he wants, he has options to use. Listen here. We really have no choice but to build a powerful wall or steel barrier. If we dont get a fair deal from congress, the government will either shut down on february 15 again or i will use the powers afforded to me under the laws and the constitution of the United States to address this emergency. That would likely include a declaration of a federal emergency, the office of management and budget has identified several billion dollars that could be put toward wall construction. What is ironic about what the president said today is that lindsey graham, senator from south carolina, suggested to the president exactly the same thing on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace back on january 13th. The president politely refused and said thanks, i want money for a border wall in a funding bill. The president is changing the sales pitch. He was talking ant a concrete wall across the southern border. Then he talked about a steel barrier. Now hes changed that to a greater degree to say this isnt just steel and wire. This is also electronics, technology. Call it a smart wall. Listen here. The walls we are building are not medieval walls. They are smart walls designed to meet the needs of Frontline Border agents. We do not need 2,000 miles of concrete wall from sea to shiny sea. We never did. We never proposed that. What is ironic about that is just a week ago, President Trump said yes, the wall is medieval. Worked back then and will work again now. Hes trying to sell this idea to democrats. As he gets in to three weeks of intense negotiations using a Conference Committee format, which Chuck Schumer just a moment ago seemed to think might be something that would yield fruit. He wants to get as much agreement as he can because he really wants a border barrier because if he doesnt get it, the base will say, wait a minute. You promised this during the campaign and now youre not delivering on it. Hes going to use whatever sales pitch he can to get agreement on a border barrier. Its pretty clear and Chuck Schumer and nancy pelosi let this be known in a press conference they just wrapped up that the president lost on this round. Neil . Neil john roberts, thank you. Mike emanuel now on capitol hill. Mike . Neil, good afternoon to you. Now the work begins. We expect the congress will pass this deal to fund the government for three more weeks in short order. When theres an agreement, things move quickly. We expect it to the senate to the house and to the president and so the shut down will end at five weeks long, 35 days. Then the hard works begins. Three weeks to hammer out an agreement on Border Security. I talked to numerous people on both side of the aisle that said theyre open to updating, upgrading our security at our southern border. Some will not go there for a physical barrier. Some would prefer drones and technology or manpower on the border. Its interesting to see if the president could sell that to his base as a 21st century wall. Well watch and see. Bottom line, both sides are saying the right things at the moment, that theyre willing to sit down and talk on Border Security. Three weeks is not a lot of time when you consider weekends and lawmakers going out of town to go visit with their constituents. So it will be a challenge ahead in the coming three weeks. When theres deadlines, sometimes there can be action, neil. Neil thanks, mike emanuel. Now to the man that was responsible for a Senate Pickup by republicans. North Dakota Republican senator kevin cramer. Now a member of the Budget Committee. Senator, welcome to you and belated congratulations on my party. Thank you. Neil would you vote for what youve heard . I will vote for what ive heard. Largely because this president is proposing it and is willing to sign it. Ive said all along im happy to vote for a bill that reopens the government that the president is willing to sign. If hes going to veto it, no point in voting. Neil you had a threeweek window. If the president says if he doesnt get some funding for a wall, we could revisit this all over again. What do you think . The president has positioned himself for victory. Hes been generous in his negotiating up to this point with himself. Hes been negotiating both on his behalf and speaker pelosis behalf by being flexible honestly. I think that the reports that you just had from your reporters here on the hill outline that history. He has moved and moved and moved. To the point now where hes willing to do the threeweek c. R. But hes we should take him seriously. He has this power understood the constitution and the statute to declare an emergency. Neil hes had that power the last 35 days. He never implemented it for whatever reason. What makes you would in three weeks . I think some things have changed. A couple of them. One is that we had a senate vote. Yesterday we voted on two bills. Call them test votes. We had to get that done. He saw the reality of the outcome. We now are in our second round of employees not getting paid. Were starting to see the aggregated, maybe consequences of the shut down. After yesterdays vote, it was clear that many democrats, at least my colleagues are willing to talk about a will. Even support some version of barrier with dollars. We should be encouraged by that. Neil you think linking this to the continuing operations of the government, whether this president doing it or other president s that we have to find a better way . No, its not, neil. We have to get rid of this weaponization of the budget using Government Shutdowns. Im committed to that. I signed on to a bill today. Other members did as well that werent previously open it. Theres a lot of discussion. Well talk about it in the Budget Committee within days if not a couple weeks. Weve got to remove this weapon from the arsenal. Neil senator, thanks very much. Senator kevin cramer of north dakota. A lot of people wondering why did and how did the president get to this point. Many are pointing to the nations skies. The delays that were building up at the airports with tsa workers calling out, a shortage of air traffic controllers. David lee miller is in la guardia with more. David lee . Hi, neil. Were in terminal b. Even though the partial ground halt ended four hours ago, theres still very significant delays. The arrivals her at la guardia delayed 1 1 2 hours. The departures about an hour. This is bigger than la guardia airport. There are other airports also affected by the events today, including newark, philadelphia and boston. The impact essentially rippling through the air transport system. Were told according to flight aware, the number of delays today reaching 14,000. The number of cancellations, 861 nationwide. The faa blaming an increase in sick leave at two facilities for what took place today, those facilities in st. Petersburg, florida and washington d. C. The faa says those facilities are responsible for monitoring aircraft at high altituded. The president of the National Air TrafficControllers Association spoke with dana perino on beef beef and said his membership is very relieved at President Trumps announcement about the ending of the partial Government Shutdown. Absolutely. Its euphoria. Theyve been going through some struggling times. You know, ive heard some sad stories of decisions that had to be made of parsing out your medication to putting food on the table, i cant afford to come to work, i cant fill up my gas tanks. We talked to a number of travelers here at la guardia airport. The consensus seems to be that they have sympathy for the air traffic controllers. Many passengers we talked to pointing their fingers at the politicians in washington. Neil . David lee miller, thanks very much. Take a quick break here. Take a look at the corner of wall and broad. Since the crack of dawn, 29 fbi agents arrived at my home with 17 vehicles with their lights flashing when they could have contacted me and i would have been more than willing to surrender voluntarily. They terrorized my wife, my dogs. Neil former trump adviser roger stone indicted on seven charges that go anywhere from obstruction to justice to witness tampering, making false statements. If he looks like a guy concerned, he had a funny way of showing it. He indicated he would fight this, theres nothing to the charges, that the president was and remains a friend for the better part of 30 years. Hes not expecting a pardon, isnt looking for one. Lets get the read on this from former Justice Department official, law Professor John hu. Good to have you back. Can you hear me . Yes. Neil okay. What did you make of this and the significance of this indictment today . Neil, first, theres two points. First, i think stone is guilty. I think mueller has him. Not guilty of actually conspiring with the russians or with Julian Assange and wikileaks. What hes guilty of is lying to congress. On that hes its not a question of intention and misunderstandings. He was asked directly by congress did you contact wikileaks, did you work through one or two other people. Did you text and email them. Mr. Stone said no, flatly no. Mueller has emails and texts that stone was sending trying to get in touch with wikileaks. The second point that is important to observers, theres still no evidence that mueller has uncovered of any kind of conspiracy between trump or the Trump Campaign and with the russians and wikileaks directly. If you look at the indictment closely, looks like stone is just trying to get his nose in the middle of things. Hes bothering wikileaks all the time saying give me some information, tell me what you have. Tell me youre going to drop something out in the public. Wikileaks doesnt respond. Seems like theyre coming him at arms length. I dont think stone had done anything illegal if he told the truth to congress. Neil how big of a deal will that be for him . Other allegations and issues and counts are not really cutting to the core as much as that, the one that you mentioned, lying to congress. What is he looking at . Still, its a serious crime, lying to congress under oath. We call that in the Justice Department a world of prosecutors, a process crime. Not the substance, conspiring with the russians. The fbi and the Justice Department actually try to make a point of going to after people who lie to them, who lie to congress because if people dont voluntarily tell you the truth, our whole Justice System could collapse. Neil why did they do it this way, john . I know they have raided Paul Manaforts home to get documents and that sort of thing. The same with michael cohen. They never arrested a guy and took him in this manner. Im wondering, how it was that roger stone got that distinction. Neil, a good question. This is the part that i dont like. The heavyhanded way, arresting stone, treating him the same way you might treat a dangerous fugitive or potentially violent criminal, this is an old guy. He likes to conspire, likes to send emails and talk on the phone. Neil he telegraphed it himself that he was convinced he would be charged of something. Yeah. Sometimes prosecutors and the fbi they can make a deal and say why dont you voluntarily appear at our office or at the courthouse and turn yourself in. If thats what you do with people that you respect. Way want to make a show of this. When people lie to congress and the fbi, they want to make a show of hauling them in like a common criminal. Neil you mentioned, this may be outside the normal parameters of questioning. Cnn had footage of this takedown early this morning. Do you think someone tipped them off . Oh, of course. These things are always telegraphed ahead of time. You have probably seen it before with wall street guys. When theyre arrested. Neil with rudy guliani. I remember the days of going after those inside trader guys. Rudy was a master of it. Cad him the perp walk. It doesnt have any effect if there was media to record it. Youre the ones that make the perp walk possible. Neil youre right. I notice that all of these people brought in like from a michael cohen, paul manafort, george papadopoulos, variations of lying. Lying to congress, lying to the fbi. Very few with district russian tie collusion charges mostly about lying. Thats i hope people remember one thing from today. Almost all the crimes that mueller has gone for with the top people, stone, manafort, flynn, the people you mentioned, its mostly been for lying. Thats what goes to the lesson of the washington scandal. Its always the coverup that is worse than the original conspiracy. If people had just told the truth, if manafort and stone werent playing games, they wouldnt be going to jail. Neil wellput. People forget that. Thank you very much. Good catching up with you, john. Thanks, neil. Neil where does that investigation go . Where do we go after a shut down that presumably ends tonight . Well crunch that live tomorrow when cavuto live hits the air. Tomorrow he will travel with me to the u. N. Security council where the United States has called a long overdue meeting to urge the democratic transition for venezuela. He has a great deal of time as a Senior Leader in this very organization. Under president reagan, he served as assistant secretary of state for interamerican affairs. Under president george w. Bush, he served as the senior director for democracy and human affairs, senior director for north african and Deputy National security adviser for global democracy strategy. Elliotts passion for the rights and liberties of all people makes him a perfect fit and a valuable and timely addition. This week the venezuelan people have rejected former president maduros illegitimate rule. With the support of the venezuelan people and the national assembly, juan guaido has declared himself the interim president of venezuela. This is the first step of his road to liberty. He will restore democracy and prosperity to their country. On this issue and all others, hes eager to advance the president s agenda and promote the ideals and interests of the American People. Now if you would. Thank you. Very briefly, i left this building 30 years ago this week. The last time i worked here. Very nice to be back. This crisis in venezuela is deep and difficult and dangerous. I cant wait to get to work on it. Thank you. Time for a question or two. Mr. Secretary, can you talk a little bit in more detail about what mr. Abrams will be doing, what his first task will be, the chief focus will be, will he travel to the region and also can you talk a little bit about some of the what will happen to venezuelas overseas assets, the gold that they have in the bank of england, money in overseas accounts. Will the interim president have control over those funds . To your first question, elliot will have responsibility for all things related to our efforts to restore democracy in venezuela. Its a global challenge. Theres multiple dementions to how we hope to assist the venezuelians in achieving democracy there and he will be responsible for leading that effort. We have an enormous team here that has done truly workable work to date to get us to the point that were add today. They have done this over certainly my eight months but long preceding that as well. Im incredibly proud of the work our state Department Team has done to date. Elliot will lead our effort that relates directly to the efforts of the venezuelan people. I would expect the first task will be to get up to speed and travel with me to new york tomorrow morning for the u. N. Security council meeting. After that, i couldnt tell you where it will take him. Wouldnt surprise me if he ends up travelling to the region. What the road ahead will be driven by the demands of the venezuelan people and how we can assist them in achieving the outcome that america wants them to achieve. [question inaudible] overseas assets, well have announcements from other places later today talking about how it is that we anticipate interim president juan guaido will have the resources he needs to lead the government of venezuela forward. Take a question from south america. Among the countries that has not recognized juan guaido as president , mexico and uruguay. Both countries have offered diplomacies to help in the crisis. Is the u. S. Government thinking to work with them or asking them to recognize guaido . What is the position of the state department with these two countries . We think every country ought to recognize the constitutional leader of venezuela. That is who the United States has concluded juan guaido is, the interim president of venezuela. We think every country ought to recognize the venezuelan constitution, the demands of the venezuelan people. Whether its mexico, uruguay, we hope to work with them. We want a free and Fair Election in venezuela where the voices of the people under the maduro regime have been starved. More than a middle refugees have fled the horrors of the maduro regime. Well work with all nations to achieve that outcome. Every country ought to take steps in achieving that and not side with this cruel dictator in venezuela who has caused so much devastation for the people of venezuela. Neil youve been licensing to the secretary of state, mike pompeo. Elliot abrams will deal with venezuela a country whose leader Nicholas Maduro who we have not recognized. Weve determined him a dictator. Were backing juan guaido, a populist Opposition Party leader that declared himself the leader of the people and calling for elections in the near term. Our government recognizes him, canada and most of the western hemisphere country. The military generals are remaining loyal to Nicholas Maduro. Hes got the backing of russia, china, turkey and cuba as well. Our Administration Says thats not going to fly. Hes a dictator, brutal. The country is suffering. Three million have left. Ten million percent inflation. Hes got to go. Maduro has said all american diplomats will be thrown out of the country. President trump said no, theyre not going anywhere. This back and forth continues and will heat up tomorrow when secretary of state will be at the United Nations addressing this very urgent matter. Reaction right now from among other issues, home depot cofounder, Bernie Marcus. Forgive me with going with this breaking news, your reaction to it. Standing by the venezuelan people as we are, by not standing by this guy that has not represented them. What do you say . No, look, ive read about it. Maduro has a record that is pretty bad. Hes a dictator without a question. Hes supported by every dictatorship country around, china, russia, turkey. You name it. All the people that we disagree with are supporting him. So its really the good against the bad. Democracy against the tough guys. Were going to see who will win. This will be a tough battle. Neil youre right. What is interesting, if you follow the saga of the region and what happened to venezuela, they had so many riches. So rich in oil. In the 80s, among the richest countries on earth. They squandered through it all on a government that assured that began with hugo chavez and ended with this bedlam now. Well, what a great example for the American People to look at what is happening in america today. You know, cuba is the perfect example of socialism gone wrong. They exported it to argentina. They took a great country, they put it down the drain in every way possible. People are starving to death. Medical is not available for them. We have a group of people in washington today, new representatives especially, that look at socialism as the way to go. If you dont think that is dangerous, neil, i do. I think its a very neil youre talking about people alexandria ocasiocortez who is talking about a tax rate of 70 and advocating the super rich pay a percentage of wealth to the government. It does seem to be a common thing among prominent democrats. That worries you. Yeah, well, let me tell you, it comes out of the universities. You see students graduating today at a very high percent of the students this is a fact. They did a survey of it. Almost 50 of students coming out of universities today believe that socialism is the answer. That is frightening to me. Because the things that made this country great that created the wealth of this country, i mean the wealth for every person right down the line, the beth medical care in the world, the best housing in the world, thats why people want to come here is because of the system. Thats a Free Enterprise system. You have the universities teaching these people socialism. You have Bernie Sanders out there, you have Elizabeth Warren. You think theres danger over the hills. I wonder if the American People im talking about all the people that dont watch fox and dont read the wall street journal, but read the New York Times and every other newspaper, watch nbc and cbs. I dont think theyre getting this message at all and i dont think they understand what where were standing today on the brink of a disaster. Neil ill give you their spin on this. I think about you, you founded home depot. We had those 70 plus top rates. We had higher taxes. You guys started home depot in an iffy economic environment and said he did just fine under that system. Yeah, but the system changed. Look, the best example of that is kennedy. I mean, kennedy realized that high taxes were going to kill america. Look at england, u. K. , before Margaret Neil but he still kept them high. He brought it down in the 90s and then the high 60s when all is said and done. But theyre much higher than they are now. And brought it down. Neil absolutely. Do you worry that they come back and say, we didnt have this vast chasms of divide back then and rates were higher. You say . No, i think number 1, they dont look at history. I think they have no clue of what history has shown. Because if they look at history, theyll see it doesnt work. By the way, were part of history today. History. The now. Where are we today . Today we have the best prosperity in the world. We have the lowest unemployment in the world. We have more people working than ever before. Job Creators Network has helped get a tax cut that is all the way down for small businesses. Unemployment for blacks and hispanics is the lowest level ever in the history of this country. You dont have to go back far. Go back to here, right now. Why would you want to take that formula where theres prosperity, jobs are out there for people, where people can pay their own way, take care of their families. Why would you want to change that . Take dumb pills every morning . Thats probably what they do. Neil so youre not looking forward to see what will come of this . I dont think given the numbers and the democrats control the house, they dont control the senate or the presidency, but this populous pitch does resonate with folks. How dough defend that as a rich guy the system is just fine . Well, i like to not think of me as a rich guy. I grew up in newark, new jersey. Neil i understand that. Youre rich now. Im rich today because i broke my back getting there, neil. You know what . Everybody in america should have the opportunity to get to where i am. But more importantly, more importantly, what the millions of people that have their jobs because of the home depot. Im talking about millions of people that are supporting their families. The economy is great. I think that we have to maintain it where it is. Thats where it is. Neil such a great country that you and ken started this gazzilion dollar enterprise. Thanks very much. And House Intelligence Committee members, democratic congressman eric swalwell. Real quickly, your reaction of Bernie Marcus, the home depot founder that your party and wanting higher taxes will kill this recovery. What do you say . I come from a generation that has been let down by big institutions. We were falsely led into the iraq war. The finance collapse took away pensions. Student debt has so many of us in financial ruin. I want to believe that every kid that works hard can dream bigger for the next generation. But wages are not going up for most people when you add in the cost of living around them. We want to make sure opportunity is not on the top floor but the bottom floor. I believe in capitolism. I want to make sure were not dividing success but multiplying it everywhere. Neil so you would be for higher taxes on the wealthy. Maze not ocasiocortez higher taxes but youre open to that . Yes, but also going back and looking at the Capital Gains tax, which has been a way to mask income neil what about a wealth tax, congressman like Elizabeth Warren is talking about . It does seem to be a pattern. Yes, i believe those are the wealthiest and enjoy the Economic Resources of this country should pay their fair share. Again, i think neil so theyre not paying their fair share . The top 2 are not paying i dont believe they are. What i would have done, neil, especially for corporations, because i want our corporations to compete. I would have brought down the Corporate Tax rate to a lower point and tie it to companies that have Profit Sharing and equity sharing. You can have a lower Corporate Tax rate if employees are delivering for the company and guaranteed that theyll see some of those benefits. The last tax cut theres no guarantee it would make its way to the neil a lot of people got bonus checks and did get some of the things you alluded to. Is that not enough . I dont think it was enough. Again, not for redistribution. Im for reinvestment and rebuilding in america. Neil so you do run for president , last time you said you were considering it, how would you distinguish yourself from all the others . You do seem to have built into their campaign dna higher taxes on business, the wealthy, you name it . I lived the promise of america through two parents. A dad that was a cop, a mom that worked odd jobs and believed if they worked hard we would do better. What i see and being connected to everyday folks today, my wife and i have two young kids under two. I have 85,000 in student loan debt. I see an entire generation that is not getting ahead. Theyre getting by. Being connected to that experience, that american struggle helps me project out what the solutions can be. Neil congressman, lets talk about the shut down. Theres going to be votes tonight on ending this. I hope. Neil the president still wants in the next three weeks, you guys to consider a wall or funding for a wall. Would you . I will consider anything we can do that efficiently and wisely makes our country safer without losing neil thats would you consider not a wall. A wall to me is contiguous. Neil would you then share the view that nancy pelosi has that a wall is immoral . I believe that a contiguous wall is an immoral neil she said a wall, just in general was immoral. She voted for wall funding when barack obama was president. Having said that, im not here to distinguish that. Im just wondering, do you agree with that . Steny hoyer did not. Nor did he have a problem, for example, with the president giving his state of the Union Address from the well of the house. Are all of you on the same page on this stuff . Yes. As described trumps wall is immoral. Neil what is immoral about his wall . Because surrounding putting a wall sea to shining sea neil hes not going to put it across 2,000 miles. He hasnt articulated where he needs it. We pressed him in these meetings, show us the vulnerabilities. Are you going to put a wall up against the rio grande . Is that neil he made it clear its not going to go every inch of 2,000 miles i dont know if he made it clear, neil. Neil if he already said that and you want clarity on that, then you would be open for some of this . I want to give you an example. Im standing in the capitol. Think about walls. If i asked you is there a wall that surrounds the capitol . If you wanted to make sure that there were people that shouldnt be here. The answer is no, theres not a wall around the capitol. Are there police officers, video cameras, barrier checkpoints . Yes. Is the capitol at risk of invasi invasion . In your state between san diego and tijuana, there is a wall, right . There are neil that works like a charms, right . The security well, the president doesnt think so. I think that we could beef up Border Patrol agents, more technology, check the port of entries neil thats an effective wall. Thats an effective wall. Its not a contiguous wall neil i understand. Youre youre describing neil this is what it comes down to. Were agreeing, neil. Neil wall, contiguous. You dont find a wall to be immoral. So were arguing over silly stuff. I think you and i agree. What you described in tijuana i think is effective. What i do not want to see is hundreds of miles of wall that is not the symbol of america. Neil when are you going to announce for president . Im getting close. Ill be in iowa sunday and New Hampshire next week and continue to listen to folks. Again, offer a vision that goes big is bold and i believe does good. So hang tight. Neil so youre going to announce it on this show, i guess . I think youre in the running. Neil well see what happens. Thank you. Its the only way my family would see the announcement. Neil thanks very much. We appreciate you coming on. You take all types of questions and that is rare. The senate is already gone ahead and passed this measure that was put out today. The house will do so shortly. Technically the shut down thats been going on for the better part of 35 days could end in hours. Well have more after this. Es a. Times change. Eyes havent. Thats why theres ocuvite. Screen light. Sunlight. Longer hours. Eyes today are stressed. But ocuvite has vital nutrients. To help protect them. Ocuvite. Eye nutrition for today. To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best to make you everybody else. Means to fight the hardest battle, which any human being can fight and never stop. Does this sound dismal . It isnt. Its the most wonderful life on earth. Neil one down, one to go. It goes to the house. This measure to reopen the government after having it shut down for 35 days. The longest that has ever happened. You know how this goes. Media crunch things, who blames, who caves, who did what. What were the factors . Could it have been the delays and airport problems at la guardia and elsewhere where people were seeing flights grounded as they were waiting through this and a lot of people showing up in fewer numbers. Thats why we had to have the delays. Real clear politics, a. B. Stoddard and madison and democratic strategist, kristin. Kristin, the consensus read has been that the president caved, agreed to something that he could have signed off on 35 days ago. Is that your read . I think that the president did the responsible thing. People came together. It was clear from the votes yesterday in the senate that neither package was going to pass in a way that would work. Its funny. I talked to you about this yesterday. The blue dogs sent a letter and said this should happen and its happening right now. Neil is that right . Madison, let me ask you. I can flip it around and say to the president s credit and he wanted to be the adult and wanted it portrayed the way it is in the media. What do you think of that . He decided maybe given some of these disruptions at the airports and delays, home mortgages with fha funding riding there, that he was going to bite the bull let, take the hit and move on . What do you think . I think the president made the responsible decision here. I think he did this in good faith, with the expectation that congress will come together, put bipartisanship aside and propose fair Border Security before february 15. As you talked about in his speech, hes committed to this cause. He will not give up if they dont propose something that goes through by february 15. He will shut down the government again or he will call a National Emergency. Neil i dont think he will do that. A. B. He will. Hes not caving. Neil prove me wrong. But a. B. , once burns, more than twice shy. I dont know what will happen. Maybe something that wont be what he wants on a border wall or whatever its called but i dont think he wants to go into that fire again. Do you . No way. Hes not going to shut the government down again. The democrats are not going to give him money for a wall. They might give him Border Security, but if he wants a wall, he has to declare a National Emergency. Neil you think he would do that . Hes threatened to over and over and over again. He said today he has an alternative. He doesnt want to use it. Thats the alternative. Its still possible. I just think that this, neil, you and i talked about this yesterday as weld, this was incompetent and pointless and damaging. I think he was told by then speaker paul ryan, then Majority Leader Kevin Mccarthy and Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell in december, you cannot shut the government down. If you do, theres no way out. He did it anyway. He wouldnt blame the democrats, this is his shut down. Wont do it again. He will have to find a way to climb down. Neil madison, it was an attention convention when the republicans were gathering on capitol hill and Vice President pence was there. It got testy. They didnt like being in this position. Maybe thats just a feisty debate. But do you see now, is there anything changing in the next three weeks . Is there an olive branch to give him something, the president , or could we revisit this . Could we have a National Emergency . What do you think . I do think that well see things change. We have already seen solve changes the past 35 days. Many democrats have come forward and including democrat from minnesota, democrat from michigan, democrat from virginia in the house that have come forward saying theyre willing to negotiate, acknowledging that walls work. You talked about this before, its not a seatoshining sea wall that many want to believe in the media. This is unvulnerable areas, something that democrats have agreed to in the past, something that we neil youre right. Theyre all for an agreement and maybe we got into this yesterday. Kristin, one of the things i found a lot of democrats were leery saying this is immoral and all of that. They want to back away from that, too. What do you think . Yeah, i dont think that a lot of democrat as agree that the idea that it was immoral. The democrats that i work with, that are in the middle of the road, and a lot of them after the last midterms have said that walls may work in certain points, certain vulnerable areas, but it needs to be a full scale comprehensive approach. Then the house and senate will be in alignment and can send the bill to the president for his signature appear at that point the Government Shutdown will come in fact be over until the middle of february. We asked the House Majority leader, minority leader i should say if there were objections and he said no. Something that will be key, the sidecar to this agreement deals with going to Conference CommitteeConference Committee from the house and senate together in a room. What they will do was try to work out a separate deal on Border Security, may be immigration. You know, all of those things are toxic in this discussion. One of the keys, who do they use a point, nancy pelosi should be key to that and who sits on that Conference Committee a number one and number two, can they get something to him by the middle of february . Congress looks works best on deadline otherwise we could be back where we are and where we have been released since the middle of december. What the president to do what he did . Are you hearing a lot of it had to do with similar issues like the grounded plights, what got him to change . You had the issues second round of paychecks not going out and as you said these other factors with air travel delays and things that affect the business community, ipo debut and the farm bill but at the end of the day, they were starting to get hammered and you had Senate Republics to get antsy. This is not the best road to go down, mr. President so lets figure this out soon.
