Now that you have everyones attention and devotional so that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations, what exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence . Well, its interesting that you would pose that question like that because this country is built upon violence. What was the american revoluti revolution. What is our diplomacy across the globe, we go in and blow up countries and we replaced their leaders with leaders who would like. So for any american to accuse us of being violent, its extremely hypocritical. Now when we talk about us using self defense, we use why are you screaming and not allowing me to talk, maam . You asked me a question, allow me to answer, im in the process of answering and it wont be that much longer. You asked what we hope to achieve, we are talking about selfdefense. We are talking about four or five Police Officers choking someone to death and someone from the community having the training to intervene effectively. We are talking about saving lives, nobody is talking about ambushing Police Officers. We are talking about protecting lives and there is nothing more american than that. When we talk about uplifting and upholding the Second Amendment i think you should be applauding me. Seeing as though you are huge supporters of the Second Amendment, it seems to be the hypocrisy of america that when black people Start Talking about arming themselves and defending themselves, the talk is violent. But when white people grab assault rifles and go to our nation state capitals, its all good. Martha first of all ive never talked about my stance on the Second Amendment. Im not criticizing you or praising you. You dont support the Second Amendment . Martha thats not my role to talk about my opinion. Do you support the Second Amendment, yes or no . A lot of your viewers would like to know if you support the Second Amendment. Martha well thats fine but thats not why we are here. The only reason i pose that first question to you the way that i did it, i watched you talking on a bunch of different interviews today and you said, burn it down. You send it, burn it down, its time. So that makes me think that you want to burn it down. If this country doesnt give us what we want then we will burn down the system and replace it. All right. And i could be speaking figuratively, i could be speaking literally. Its a matter of interpretation. Like lets be very real and observe the history of the 1960s. When black people were rioting we have their highest growth and wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks. Since you started protesting there have been eight cops fired across the country. Remember they were telling us that there was due process . Thats why the cop that choked eric gardner kept his job and kept receiving raises for five years. Anytime a cop hurt child or elders, there was always a call for due process. But the moment people start destroying property, now cops can be fired automatically. What is this country rewarding . What behavior is it listening to . Obviously not marching. When people get aggressive and they escalate their protests, cops get fired, now, you have Police Officers and republican politicians talking about Police Reform. I dont condone nor do i condemn rioting but im just telling what i observed. Martha that is what appears to be working. I just wanted to put up this quote. He was an anomaly, Martin Luther king. Let us just be satisfied, and everyone will talk about gods power and human power. Jesus christ is the most famous black radical revolutionary in history. He was treated just like dr. King. He was crucified or assassinated. This is what happens to black activists, we are killed by the government. And, i dont know if you noticed but, we would see them like into that color than anyone else. Its just the hypocrisy and the white supremacy, and it thats the equivalent of a pasty white. Was not white and we all know this. Martha i think to all christians, and so he wasnt a white man, we all know that, right . Martha yes. He was mentally standing. I appreciate where you are coming from and i appreciate you coming on tonight. I know that you are very passionate and you want whats best. So everyone has different ways to get there. I just want black liberation and black sovereignty by any means necessary. Martha also joining up me tonight as senator marco rubio of florida. What is your reaction, black lives matter has a lot of different factions, a lot of different philosophies. Its not a group that is unified across the country and some people marched with lack lives matter posters and tshirts and they think something very different than those who are the founders of the group. But what do you think about what mr. Newsom had to say . I think those are fringe views that dont necessarily in fact i know they dont represent the vast majority of africanamericans, minority communities or overall in terms of what were facing. In my view its a pretty straightforward. We have a long and lingering racial inequities that have been ignored for far too long and they need to be addressed. And its about Police Reform. The relationship between africanamerican communities in Police Departments and this are not good ones. That meets the change and of course we see in these cases of abuses and those need to be addressed. Police officers need to be fir fired, and Police Department should be reformed, not reef defunded but reformed. I just dont think those represent the views of the overwhelming majority of people but it does represent the views of some people who are doing exactly what this gentleman was outlining, and others who are out there by the way have had nothing to do with racial equality. They are there, but the overwhelming majority of the people that are marching and raising their voices, they are asking for us to address these racial inequalities once and for all and i think thats a position in america that we need to take action on and stop ignoring. Martha one of those people as your at tim scott. The senator was very frustrated by his own admission today that you couldnt even have a procedural vote, to move forward and further discuss Police Reform in the country to address some of the issues that you just brought up. And here he is talking about that. I blame an elite Political Class with billions of dollars to do whatever they want to do and look at the results for the poorest and most Vulnerable People in our nation. So we hear a lot of talk about getting something done in congress and i dont think the American People would be very heartened in terms of the way the senate tried to address Police Brutality in this country today. Let me tell you exactly what happened. The democrats are not blocking the republican bill. They are not even allowing the process to begin to make changes to it. So what you do is you take the vote, its called the motion to proceed and basically what it means is we are now on the bill in the process has begun. Then they can offer an amendments, they can offer changes to the bill. If at the end of that process they are not happy with the end result they could kill it then. They could refuse to even begin that of and they think they are going to win a majority in the senate and they think they are going to win the white house and in their mind they want this issue for the campaign. They say the republicans refused to address it seriously and they want to campaign on it and then they think they can get a better bill once they are empowered. Its as simple as that. If your people are reporting the truth, they will report that. Because to argue that they cant even begin the debate, i think they wouldve passed a lot of their amendments by the way but you cant make that argument with a straight face and thats what they did. Martha people look at it and think its awful and pathetic. Everyone has heard both sides debate a lot of issues that both sides have in common which would be a Common Ground starting place for this discussion. It was a very tense situati situation, we actually sent about nine officers because we received a call that there were two cars shooting at each other and one person was down the road. It was a large crowd and we changed our processes a couple weeks ago about sending two people to every call no matter where it is a work call it is. We tried to do the prudent thing and send a number of officers but it was clearly a set up and it turned bad very quickly. Martha whats the mood right now if youre officers on the job . These are trying times. After this, morale had already been down, and im doing my best to keep it up. I think the pendulum will swing back to some semblance of normalcy but morale is tough. These are tough times to be a Police Officer, good luck trying to find anyone who would want to be a chief of police right now. Martha are people less safe in cities because of these incidences because it makes officers more reluctant to step in and do their job . There is no doubt that the officers are reluctant to do something. Who wants to be that Police Officer who has to take action . Nobody wants to be that Police Officer who sparked civil unrest in their city. Cops Pay Attention, they are not dumb but they Pay Attention to whats going on right now. Nobody wants to be the one that ignites that flame. Martha and, the problem though and thats why an cops are so hesitant right now and rightfully so. The on the chief of police, and its easy to make some decisions from the desk but, they are expected to make quick decisions and its not always that simple. A big day for Michael Flynn especially coming out, and Michael Flynn is not 100 out of the woods yet but he is certainly close. A threejudge Circuit Court panel ruled today that its time to move on and its time to drop this case and put it in the rearview mirror. He has yet to officially sign off on that and then flynn would be completely out of the woods. You may remember early last month attorney general bill barr, he announced the department of justice wanted to drop this case against flynn. This despite the fact that flynn has completed guilty twice. He withdrew that latest plea earlier this year arguing misconduct on the part of the Justice Department and the fbi specifically which falls under the department. They regularly scheduled, and thats kind of the first step into fully dropping this case. I called and surprisingly, and the decision today is, its a good thing for my family and its really a great boost of confidence for the American People in our justice system. I think the situations are very different but i think whats important to portray here is the failure of the administration not on any one particular issue but a failure on the presidency itself. And i think there are two aspects of this. One is, its important for the people of the United States to understand what donald trump really is, and its important for history as well. You know, i felt that it was possible to make the Trump Administration work to advance National Security interests, and we talked about many, many of the things that ive referred to in the book. Martha it you are horrified by the helsinki press conference, and its another 420 something days. Youve always talked about how principled you are and how much those things matter to you. For any of us who have served in the administration, many of whom have resigned or been fired, its a very personal decision, how long you are willing to put up with it. And at what point you to resign. I used to say when i was in the administration, i was the National Security advisor and not the National Security decisionmaker. My experience in government and prior republican administrations made it clear, you lose a lot of battles in the policy fights within an administration and if you took every one of them as a personal defeat he would last about three days. I thought it was very important given the threats that the United States faces then and faced around the world, they should have resigned earlier and ive had to many people tell me i was wrong to resign when i did and i should have stayed longer. All i can say is its a personal decision and i respect the decisions of others who have resigned to before me and i respect the decisions of those who are still there. Martha so you said you couldnt testify in the impeachment, you are clearly a material witness and that was the available constitutional process in that moment. So isnt it a shirking of duties not to step up in that moment given how strongly he felt about what was going on . I think youve mischaracterized it. Just because House Democrats have decided they will proceed in a certain way doesnt mean i have to follow them. Nancy pelosi is not my drummer, and i know the course of action the House Democrats took guaranteed that the impeachment process would run into a ditch, which it did. Failing to get almost any significant republican support. We know from the watergate experience, the only way you can really impeach and convict the president s with bipartisan support. And i think that with testimony at that point, whatever i would have said would have been swept aside in the gale of partisan conflict. And theres one other point. The white house argued that even if President Trump did everything in the ukraine that the democrats and their Worst Nightmare accuse them of, it did not rise to the level of an Impeachable Offense and i think that argument was very persuasive to allot of people in the senate which was why, given the opportunity to vote and call me and others as witnesses, they decided not to. Not because they were shirking their duty but they saw the whole ukraine thing is not rising to the level of an Impeachable Offense. I disagree with that but it shows my testimony in the senate would not have made any difference given that legal approach. Martha why not take that opportunity, i also want to talk about several other countries that i feel there was malpractice in. It looked like you were saving it to make money off the book. I think the democrats are very upset at the way things turned out and they should be, because their approach guaranteed not that trump would be constrained in his behavior, he would be enabled. The best thing that i could do as a citizen was present but i knew to the American People. And you know, they are the ultimate judges. They can make up their mind what they think of donald trump and its up to them at this point. I wouldnt be going through this either. One of the things that people will get to decide in the coming months and in november, you have said that you will not vote for President Trump and you will not vote for joe biden, but this is a binary choice when it comes to the presidency, so you might write someone in. Why not just do what would be the most effective thing if you really want President Trump to not have a second term, or if there are other conservatives and republicans that have said, thats what they are going to do. Thats not what im going to do because thats not my choice. Now in 2017 i said exactly what you just said. Thats what i thought in 2016. Ive seen donald trump up close and personal for 17 months and i cannot in good conscience vote for him but i agree philosophically with joe biden. My fondest hope and my plan for the election is to hope for a miracle and see if we can get our conservative republican on the ballot. Failing that i will write one in. The final argument, we dont have a popular democracy, we have an Electoral College process. I reside in maryland and it doesnt really matter who i vote for. Martha are you going to vote for someone on the candidate valid . I will help republicans keep in majority in the senate. I think this is absolutely crucial. I think thats much harder. Its very close in a number. I really like you on my team. And, i would not discuss the general public of the elections. And ive had a few other things on my mind. But thats my objective in november. And obviously different races will come out different ways. They have seen how this thing is working out in the past. Martha it do you think that National Security would be safer under President Trumps term for joe bidens term . Its now untethered from any electoral accountability, and that will come to the fore. They are very discouraged when you see what happens if the president wins the second term. You can draw your own conclusions. Thats a republican conservative that you say might come out of the woodwork. Its more complicated. Its all substantive. You talked about the fact that you didnt like the way that the president sort of talks to president xi jinping about how he could get elected again. And they are sort of too cozy. And its hard to imagine that he would want another term of President Trump, but that would be something you want to work towards. And they would consider decoupling from china. This not what we want . Thats the basis of style and thats not really, thats not what im saying. The various position sometimes day by day, and sometimes its tough on china and sometimes its not. The lack of firmness and resolve and persistence for the policy, and its troubling and dangerous for the country. I think its entirely possible that if he wins reelection that the signing of the weaker sanctions bill and, and that was with respect to the uighurs, and not really caring what happens there will come to the fore. The chinese have a very hard headed view of what the chinese interests are and at least they dont, martha i think you said when you heard the president was pulling out, that was sort of the beginning of the end. They talked about rhea allocating that dumb like those troops, that polish border towards russia and the other is in the end of the pacific to show strength to china. If you like those are more effective abuses of those trips given the current geopolitical environment. Do you disagree with that, do you think those troops would be better still in germany . If the present it will follow that in terms of moving more forces to china i think thats correct. The president gets increase and there is a test we will see into the future if the president is reelected. If the budget continues to go up, or will it not . And making sure that we have a strong defense. Sounds like you agree that that is what he has done so far. He spoke differently about President Trump when he was in the administration saying he was perfectly prepared to, and he has been roundly condemned by authors. Its pretty clear that john bolton is a disaster. Martha how does this make the president feel when he works with people . General mattis left, and theyve all said that they have problems with the way the president does his job. Whats the impact of that on the white house . But the president does, and i think its a very effective method of hiring, and, President Trump wants to get out of foreign wars, and john bolton was the opposite. Sometimes people cant handle, the president ultimately going with his gut has been successful. Martha turning for a moment to the election, and they would possibly change the game but it doesnt look. What is he doing to try to turn that around . They arent conducted in a way that is reflective. I was with the president , 220 miles built and more being built. And to defund the police movement, the president stands staunchly a gun set on the side of law and order and on the side of ps and on the side of economic rebounds. There were areas that he one last time, it does look like hes doubling back to try to see if he can move the numbers. He is trying to come indicate his people all across the country. And you go all across the country, and yet again, its a very strong case. He reiterated the economy. And we see of the shaped her recovery taking place. What the president s response is, potentially thats what he would be brought back into the situation. And icm note came out today by peter strzok that has a vp, resurrected to go after Michael Flynn to get him to lie so he would get fired. It was a great miscarriage of justice.
