He said a transgender person should be able to have a choice. He is saying that a man pretending to have a woman should pretend to have an abortion and the taxpayers can pretend to pay for it. How can a biological man have an abortion . Martha he didnt clarify but a lot of people asked a similar question about exactly what kind of anatomical situation we were talking about there. It was evident that there was a very dramatic attempt, almost like an auction, to see who can outbid who in the most left of center approach. That may work in the primary but i think there are a lot of democrat voters across the country who are uncomfortable with the party going this far left. First of all, what do you read into what Justice Roberts said . He did say agencies can make decisions like this. The Commerce Department could add a question about citizenship to the census but he wasnt buying the explanation that secretary ross has given publicly about how the whole thing came about. He was basically saying this goes back to the lower court. Logistically it seems like theyre never going to be able to get this case resolved in time for these things to be printed for them to go out so it looks like the question doesnt make it. This is what the president is saying today. A couple tweets tell us hes not done with it. Heres what he says. Seems totally ridiculous that our government, and indeed country, cannot ask a basic question of citizenship in a very expensive, detailed and important census, in this case for 2020. I have asked the lawyers if they can delay the census, no matter how long, until the United States Supreme Court is given Additional Information from which it can make a final and decisive decision on this very critical matter. Can anyone really believe that as a great country, we are not able the ask whether or not someone is a citizen. Only in america its funny because there were a number of concurring decisions, dissenting decisions. Justice alito wrote one that went both ways and he asked in the hyperpartisan environment, its a political question to be people are calling it racist. He said a lot of other countries ask this question. Justice thomas writing, said it should not have gone to whether you can ask a question. He said our only role is to decide whether the secretary complied with the law and give a reasoned explanation for his decision. That ought to end our inquiry. The court goes further. For the first time ever, the Court Invalidates an Agency Action solely because the questions this sincerity of the agencies otherwise adequate rationale. Thats my interpretation of what he said. I think youre exactly right. For most of our history we have had a question, like asking whether or not someone is a citizen, on the census. The department of commerce which has Statutory Authority over the census needs no reason at all to justify putting a Citizenship Question on the senses. What john roberts was trying to do and i think youre right, but i would say it differently, its like he was trying to find any reason, any reason where i could side with the four liberals. For some reason he considered about 50 of the time he likes to saddle up next to them on these important decisions and i think its a real example of judicial activism. The court has no role in this at all. Sam alito and Clarence Thomas have it very well when they said just that. Martha obviously democrats feel that this question will hurt their chances because there will be a lot of people who are new to the country or maybe they have relatives here legally who dont want to go near answering anything on the census and that in the law it says that every person should answer the census, not every citizen. Thats the language they feel is more important. How do you answer that . I agree that only people should answer the census but for most of our history theres been a question akin to this and the secretary of commerce is totally in his right to add it. Whats behind all this is no weakening of the concept of citizen. What does it mean . A weakening of a concept that you should only be here if you are here legally. Elizabeth warren set on the debate stage that she wanted to make legal crossings of the border even when youre not allowed to be here. Theres a weakening of what it means to be a citizen. If you allow people to get into the count who arent here legally or who arent citizens, that screws up the whole ability to properly apportion congressional seats. It screws up completely the whole idea of having an Electoral College. Why is it surprising to us when the left and democrats want to abolish the Electoral College .
