When they recover the vehicle and arrested him there was d. N. A. , blood in the rear of the car, they recovered her phone inside the car. We recovered her body. There will probably be menty of d. N. Plenty of d. N. A. On that also. When you see a crime like this, predator like this out there, i could probably say to myself that this guy has done something similar like this before. In fact, im sure that detectives are looking in his background and looking at unsolved cases in the area. Martha im sure you right. Before i let you go, what advice do you give to people getting in to the cars . I mean what can you do to protect yourself when basically strangers are driving up and people are getting in the cars and driving off with them . Well, all the apps like uber i use uber a lot they show you a picture of driver and the picture of the car. They show you the plate number of the vehicle. I check the plate number of the vehicle. When you get in the car, the driver will always ask you your name first to make sure he is picking up the right person. So all the information is there. You just need to Pay Attention to it. Martha this guy put the child locks down as soon as she got in the car. If you hear that, when you get in a vehicle, you know, id be worried myself. But the fact is he was not an uber driver. The cure in that case may be worse than the disease. The disruption would be enormous and would be profound. You know, they say its 1. 7 billion in good and Services Every single day. People, millions of people just cross over some live on the mexico side to save money. They come, commute to the United States. Citizens of the United States during the day to work. Those peoples lives would be totally disrupted, tourism, factories along the border it would just be chaos. Martha perhaps a move like that would make it very clear to mexico that they need to do a lot more than what they have been doing because theyre obviously on the other side of that trade equation and that they need that trade as much as we do if not a lot more. I absolutely agree. The republic of mexico is being woefulfully inadequate in terms of its response. Its letting all these people from Central America transit across mexico. Mexico apparently feeling well, its not our problem. They are just coming through. Its going to be the along the southern border with the United States. Very shor shortsighted on mexicos part. I think the president , aside from this surge, which i think is a good idea of these officials to the border to handle all of these asylum cases, i also think the president of the United States should he convened a summit meeting immediately between him, the president of el salvador and honduras saying listen, we have got to fix. This you have to help us fix this. Martha the homeland secretary nielsen has been meeting with the leadership in honduras and guatemala and he will sal tha el salvador. The president says we have been doing this too many years. Nothing is changing. You have to do something dramatic to force everybody toift table and make it painful economically painful, hopefully for a very short time in order to force that change. Something has changed though, martha. The when i was spending my time at the border, the people coming across were single men. Usually from mexico, coming to work. Martha thats right. You catch them and send them back across the border. They come, they go. Its like a game they play. They ebb, they flow. They come to pick the crops. Come back and go back. This is families. This is different. This is almost. Martha exactly right. 4,000 children in the month of fi february alone. This is a humanitarian crisis. We have to deal with this i think at the chief executive level with all due respect to the Homeland Security secretary nielsen and her counterparts, at the aid level talking about how to spend the hundreds of millions the u. S. Wants to give in aid. This needs to be dealt with as a National Security issue. It is a national emergency. Let the president meet with the other president s, make it at that level their word will be forces will be employed if necessary. Where aid will be contingent on performance. Martha should come up with a mannedful of democrats and handful of republicans get together in this room in congress on the hill and not coming out until something all parties can sign.
