That was this only way to get to our dreams. Martha house intel chair, devin nunes and the man at the center of the fire over the questionable tactics by the fbi saying this tonight, having stone walled congresss demands for nearly a year, its no surprise to see the fbi and doj file objections to allow the American People to see information related to surveillance abuses to the agencies. That in response to the nunes stories that says omissions make it inaccurate. The president said he will authorize the public release of the memo. 100 , Trace Gallagher in our newsroom as the memo fight gets hot. Reporter while the president said hes 100 planning to release the memo, Sarah Sanders appears to be tapping the brakes saying theres always the chance the memo wont be released. The president had not been breached on the content and the white house plans to complete the security review of before deciding to release it and sanders comments conflicts with others after the meeting with deputy ray and rosenstein both trying to convince the white house not to release the memo arguing it leaves out key fact impact the documents accuracy. Then late yesterday, fox news learned five career officials from the fbi came to see john kelly with a brandnew version of the fisa memo that was supposed to allay the concerns about the documents accuracy but apparently the fbi also objected to that brandnew version. Today general kelly said this. Did you see it . I did. What do you think . It will be released quick and the whole world can see it. Reporter it was written by republicans on the House Intel Committee and alleges during the president ial campaign the fbi used unstubstantiated information. Today devin nunes released a memo. Democrats say the memo was only meant to weaken the Law Enforcement agencies behind Robert Muellers investigation of russian meddling in the 2016 election. And despite this highly unusual public battle between the white house and fbi, both sides reportedly expect the memo to be released very soon. Martha. Martha thank you. Here with more and the growing concerns at the leadership at fbi, a former Deputy Assistant director. Thank you for being here. What do you make over the battle over the memo . Do you think it should be released . The most important thing is it it be accurate. Its like a rifle shot, you cant unshoot a rifle. From what i understand its devastating and if its inaccurate or things in it that arent, it should be modified and the director of the fbi and his staff have the facts and they would know if its inaccurate but i think the key is convincing the president and his staff that more needs to be put into it or it needs to be revised. What were talking about is truth. Was there any effort or attempt or success in misleading the fisa court. If that happened then we need to know about that and the memorandum has to reflect that question and that answer for the American People. Theres a lot at stake here. Its not just a memo. Its the reputation of a federal agency, one i worked for for 31 years and lets get beyond this and let the fbi do its job. Martha the suggestion id like to go back to the basics on this, the suggestion is people at the fbi wanted to get the Trump Campaign and that they needed in order to do that and derail their campaign they had to prove what their theory was which was a nefarious connection to russia. They had to go to the fisa court to get surveillance on an individual in order to prove he was up to no good. Youre saying if theres anything untort in the way they presented the document saying give us what we need. We need surveillance and we need it quick. We need that and ive used it many times if we denigrate the process that allows the court to make the decision. It hurts everybody. It will be very circumspect on what the bureau tries to bring to them and we need to know the fact. If it was done the people need to be severely judged on what they did. If they didnt do it we need to know that too. Martha lets put up on the screen the changes in personnel at the doj and fbi. Have you James Comey Fired by the president and peter strzok and chief rybicki left. And many have left. People make mistakes and we saw that today with menendes. What happened is paramount importance to the current fbi and future fbi and the agents across the world that support their country. We need to know. If the memo isnt correct it should be correct and should be released. Martha people like you who spent their career there and others like james calstrom who has been public about his concerns on the fbi and the department he knows and love through the years there, if there was something wrong, why wouldnt the fbi want to air it . Why wouldnt they want to say, heres what we found and it doesnt wash and these people will be fired. The director needs a road map and needs to know what happened. And coming in cold with all the scandal swirling around and innuendos if i was back there id want to know to remedy it and punish those that martha hes defensive. He went to the fbi and said do not release the document though were getting reports other fbi agents said theres no source or methods in there and no reason not to release it. I tend to agree with that but i havent read it. Im not in the position to know its accurate or not. Bottom line is truth is helpful and cleansing. Fbi at the top, not in general but at the top, the former director of the fbi and what he brought in and others, that needs to be remedied. We dont need to do that anymore. Martha the rank and file and the people every day are not part of this discussion. Its a different thing. I know those people mean a lot to you. Good to have you on. Thank you, see you next time. Always a pleasure. Martha still to come, brandnew details on the deadly plane crash today on the way to the republican congressional retreat. A real tragedy. And a bombshell from Hillary Clinton dropped minutes before the state of the Union Address and it slid under the radar and show you what you may not have heard. And my exclusive interview with three elite olympic athlete and their brave stories right after this. Martha do you remember what went through your mind what did he say to you about why he was doing what he was doing . with 33 individual vertebrae and 640 muscles in the human body, no two of us are alike. Get approved in as few as 8 minutes. Martha developing tonight the former usa olympic gymnastics doctor was back in the courtroom today facing new charges of abuse at a gymnastics club. He was sentence to 175 years on seven separate charges. Today dozens of new women took the stand at a new sentencing to tell their news of horror by one of the biggest names in the sport like tiffani dawson. I will say this, it takes a monster to sexually assault a child and a monster backed by ego, experience and power fueled by multiple institutions to sexually assault a child in front of their own mother. It was uncomfortable and terrifying and who was i to question the treatment that was supposed to heal me. Martha an army of survivors, athletes who were constantly around and she said other teammates and coaches, others begging the question, how did no one know and what about the famed coach, bela karolyi and his wife, marta . Many were sent to the ranch without their parents and put under their care and what about the u. S. Olympic committee. Today the gymnastics governing body tweeted this, we received resignations from all the board of the directors as required by the oic. We are grateful for the time and effort each has devoted to usa gymnastics. But many of nassars victims said the investigation is only beginning. Today, i sat down with three of Larry Nassars victims, olympians and National Team members, mattie larsson, jennette antolin on this exclusive story. When you look back and think about larry, everyone said he was one of the few people that was nice to you. Tell me about your first interaction and how it all start. He was the only person that was nice that was an adult. I dont remember my exact first interaction with him but i remember meeting him and knowing that he was the National Team doctor, he was very important, very smart, we were taught he knew everything. He knew how to fix any injury you had. With that said, he then gained your trust by being a friend, confidant and giving you gifts, making you feel special and developed into a friendship because you work with him for years on the National Team. That was the relationship. He was a listening here. You talked with the fact these treatments happened while teammates were around and adults were around. Describe that for me. A lot of the time with our interaction at the ranch we had what we call the treatment room. Also the end room because it was at the end of the hall. There was a tv and couch and treatment table behind the couch so pretty much a lot of the time he would treat us in that room the girls were chilling and watching tv and thats what he was so good at normalizing what he did. Theres usually another trainer in the room too so i thought its not that bad hes doing if hes doing it in front of my teammates and trainer. The first time i met larry i was 13 and the first time i remember the first interaction of him molesting me was 14 until i was 19. Martha do you remember what was going through youre mind . What did he say about why he was doing what he was doing . The first time i remember him molesting me i had a bad hip injury and it was on my pelvic bone so the first time he molested me i was like this is how you treat an injury in that region. That was pretty much the only injury i ever had around that area and Everything Else was from the knee down and he was so good at normalizing what he did and said does it feel better what im doing i 100 thought it was a medical treatment. Martha did you ever say to anybody else on the team, does he do this to you . Does this seem right . I never talked about it with anybody. Like she said i think its a great word how he normalized it and the way i describe it to people, i didnt talk about every time i put ice on or hed tape my ankle or talk about any treatment. In my mind it was a medical treatment that was supposedly helping my back and hips also. Martha did bela and Marta Karolyi know what the treatment consistent consistented consisted of . They had to know. I knew about other abuse from other coaches they 100 knew that children were being sexually abused. Martha there were other coaches abusing other people . Yeah, theres other people right there now abusing people and we talked with the culture. Its not just physical, emotional and other abuse i spent years in therapy and when i realized i was sexually abuse, i was like, add it to the list. Martha give people a sense of the Karolyi Ranch and what were you expect to do and when youre injured, obviously some people look at that and think initially, its tough, theres a lot of sacrifices when youre an olympic athlete. Whats the difference between that understanding and what was actually happening . Wed get up in the morning and they provided food and they certained our bags. We were not allowed to bring food. Our parents were not allowed to go to the ranch. Usually wake up and have breakfast and not supposed to talk to each other. Martha why . Its a distraction. They wanted us to be focussed 100 of the time. We werent allowed to talk, smile, talk to each other. I was afraid to even say when i was really injured and i even remembered telling my coaches or the National Staff about any injuries. I was afraid if they pulled something they wouldnt believe i was injured and if i was injured it was like, sorry, someones taking your spot. I competed on a fractured back and three times actually and i was frayed to tell them i was was afraid to tell them i was injured am and thinking about it i would tell larry about my injuries more than anybody else because i doesnt want to be taken off National Team and sent home. Martha and you confided in him and he abused you. Exactly. And the thing is, like, as a grown man put aside the fact he was a doctor, he saw the abuse and what we were going through and he should have reported it himself. Martha it was working for him. It was an opportunity for him to abuse sexually. Martha mattie, do you think the karolyis knew he was abusing gymnasts. Its hard for me to believe they didnt and think they honestly did not care. They didnt care they didnt ask with the injuries or how theyre doing. They just didnt care. I feel they kept larry around because larry was willing to let us compete with injuries. At one point i sprained and dislocated both feet at the same time and larry didnt even tape them. He didnt even get me a wheelchair to walk around. I had to find an office chair from the lounge and push myself around the camp crawling. He just you know, he was they kept him around because he helped them out and i just really hard for know believe they didnt know what was going on and if they didnt know, they honestly didnt care. Martha but had if you had complained they wouldnt have listened. Martha how would they react . Theyd laugh probably. If they didnt see it with their own eyes you know, they allowed him in our room alone. Sometimes at the ranch id be the last to get treatment and i was scared i would get in trouble because it was already past curfew and he said its you wont get in trouble because youre with me. Why would they allow him to be in the room with us . That should have never happened in any situation. Martha so when you came forward in 2016 what was the reaction from usa gymnastics . Very negative towards me. I got attacked on social media. I wasnt believed. Some of my socalled friends said i was make it up for attention and some called me a whore and a liar and even a psychologist like, there were message sent on facebook to campaign for positive larry nassar stories. For me, i still have a hard time thinking about whats happening to myself and im just emotional, okay. Um um sorry, why i came forward was not for myself at all it was because i have six nieces and three nephews and three on the way and i could not i did not want this to happen to anybody else. And i didnt care that people i didnt care it was hurtful to some of my friends. I knew if any man or larry would have done this to anyone in my family, niece or nephews or even the little girls i had coached for so long, thats how i knew what he was doing was wrong. Martha thank you for come. Part two of our interview and the question that pains the parents of these girls. How did they not know . The impact on the whole family next. Martha tonight federal investigators are on the site of a deadly amtrak train. Carrying congressmen to their annual retreat. It slammed into a garbage truck on the tracks then driver was killed, several others injured. None of the lawmakers were seriously injured. They came to the aid of the people who were. The tragedy came as President Trump laid out an ambitious agenda last night. The 2018 midterms are likely to be part of the agenda. We have our Fox News Contributors here. On the heels of a big state of the Union Address last night. Members off to their retreat and hear from Vice President pence and President Trump. Chris, this was a tragic event that happened today. You look at it today in your writing in the larger context of where theyre going and what they have before them. The saying in politics youre never as far as you think you are or far down as you think you are. Its a good reminder for us. Republicans have this big triumphant night and the bright lights and the fawning and adulation and a matter of hours later riding on their way to one of my Favorite Places in the entire world, id rather be there than almost any place else, life intervenes. Have you to be able to deal with it and not just be good when its all bright lights and makeup. Martha many ran to the aid of others and helping out. When you look at what they have in terms of whats cut out for them lying ahead, and you think with the fact that trey gowdy, announced today he will not be continuing charlie, there are now nine Gop Committee chairs not coming back. 34 gop members and they can only lose 24 seats. They have an uphill battle here. They sure do. All the defections the decision of someone like trey gowdy of his integrity and intelligence, the idea hes calling it quits does speak volumes about what a messed up and disspiriting place washington has become. Trey gowdy was in a powerful position and able to do meaningful things and an important investigations and had extraordinary leeway and powers and if he cant find inspiration doing the great things hes been doing up here and would rather return to the courtroom, not that its a bad thing, its a wonderful thing but in some ways more important but the fact he couldnt find the inspiration here is depressing quite frankly. Martha he basically he said he can do more in the legal system than political system. So richard, last night the state of the union, there were unhappy faces. Nancy pelosi was unhappy and representative clyburn not a happy man and representative gutierrez walked out when everyone started chanting usa. If you took a pan of faces at the last state of the union the would have looked gloomy too because they were not a big fan of obama. Overall, the speech trump gave was a republican speech Ronald Reagan or george bush would have given it. The dichotomy is how donald trump treats people. He has a lot of character flaws we can agree on that has not been able to reach across the aisle thats when the faces represent martha im saying look at the opportunity on immigration and im looking at the faces and thinking is this not going to happen. Theres in way theyll give anything here. If you look at ted cruz face in allowing the pathway to citizenship his face was as sour as nancy pelosi. Martha you think of me midterm and the next time the governments going to run out of money, how do they marshal their force when it looks like the other side has zero interest in working with them. I dont think its zero interest. How the midterms as the polls demonstrate and they have some control here. When it comes to republicans, the house must be able to pass immigration legislation. They need to get to 50 or 50ish votes on an immigration package. I guarantee if they can do that, they can drag democrats into the discussion. They may be able to get to 60. I think its more achievable and attainable than we thought previously but it depends on republicans being able to execute again. Martha the beginning of the segment was depressing and chris brought it back around and made everybody feel better. Chris, charlie, thank you very much. Up next, Hillary Clinton botching her me too movement and wants a doover on the harasser she refuse to fire and tell you what she said now. Philadelphia cheesecake cups. I think for a few reasons and i should preface this with shes asking herself the same exact questions over next few days. Are where he going to hear more . Imminently. Martha i was told Hillary Clinton would response to intense backlash that she didnt fire a Campaign Adviser accused of Sexual Harassment and the Campaign Director said he had to go. Moments before the state of the union Hillary Clinton posted a lengthy apology on facebook that said i very much understand the question as to why a let an employee keep his job despite inappropriate workplace behavior. The short answer is this, if i had it to do again, i wouldnt. And we have a Fox News Contributor and we have a trusted adviser of Hillary Clinton many years. Will come. Good to see you both here tonight. Some are making something of the fact that she slipped it in before the state of the union and it wasnt an unequivocal enough. It was a little bit hemming and hawing. Im not sure what it is she was supposed to do beyond that. I think theres some people who would not be content until she cuts off her hair, throws ashes on her face, tattoos, im sorry for everything ive done to anyone, everywhere, all the time. It was a genuine thoughtful well reasoned direct response to the question she was being asked. I think people are skipping past what it says for yet another opportunity to beat up their favorite punching bag, Hilary Rodham clinton. Well, i read every word and didnt read it last night when she calculated the release of it before the state of the union which shows she was thinking about it politically and not just from a sin ear apologetic point of view. If you read what she wrote, which is very long, she didnt apologize for anything and just said she wouldnt do it again and goes into five paragraphs justifying why she did what she did and never explains why the young woman was reassigned instead of this man being punished. Its one thing to be accused of bad behavior. Due process is something every man deserves but this man was recommend multiple on her staff to be fired and have you this long rambling martha lets talk with the possibility that things look a little different in 2008 then they do in 2017. It doesnt make the behavior better but were in a different place now on this and is that a statement you agree with . I think its very hard to not look back with 2020 hindsight. What she did in this piece was to do her best to explain her thinking at the time. And i think katy, when you said that she reassigned the woman and didnt punish the man, thats not true. The woman got a job for the Deputy Campaign manager and later for the deputy of the campaign and flourished. And thats not just me saying it what about the woman . The woman herself. Mr. Strider was punished and demoted and his pay was docked and force to go to counselling and told not to go near her and one more slip about anyone or anything and youre gone. Thats fine and good and those actions were taken. Heres the issue, this is not just an isolated incident with Hillary Clinton. 10 years ago in terms of the Sexual Harassment environment we are now supposedly in is different. We were talking about Sexual Harassment in the 1990s. We knew what the rules were back then. Everyone in the sector was taking Sexual Harassment training back then. For Hillary Clinton for 30 years to justify her political platform and being a champion of women and a history of going after women and not walking the walk in empowering them, here we are with this phony apology all about her and her political calculation again. Martha thank you, quick break. Well be back after this. When you have a cold, stuff happens. [ dog groans ] [ coughs and sneezes ] nothing relieves more symptoms than alka seltzer plus maximum strength liquid gels. Why people everywhere are upgrading their water filter to zerowater. Start with water that has a lot of dissolved solids. Pour it through britas twostage filter. Dissolved solids remain . What if we filter it over and over . sighing oh dear. Thank goodness zerowaters fivestage filter gets to all zeroes the first time. So, maybe its time to upgrade. Get more out of your water. Get zerowater. Why i came forward was not for myself at all. I have six nieces and three nephews and three on the way. I could not i did not want this to happen to anybody else. Martha that was our interview with three of larry nassar survivors earlier today. The doctor is accused of abusing more than 300 athletes. Heres part two of our interview. What is your familys reaction when they realized what happened to you . She was mad and my sister had abuse from coaches and the mental and physical abuse. We had a coach that threw a hammer at her. These things are so normal adults are mean and abusive she was angry it was another form of abuse. My mom felt guilty. She think maybe i should have asked more questions of what was going on when you werent under my care and you were sent on National Team trips and to this day she feels guilty and is proud were standing as adults and making change not only in gymnastics and we passed a bill to make sure children in the future are safe which is great. Martha youre all nodding when shes talking about her family. What was how has this been for them . Its very similar to what jeannette said. Theyre working through it. My mom was my biggest supporter. She drove me to practice every single day. She was a secretary at the gym i was at from 7 to 19 years old. She was 20 feet away from all this abuse and i think shes just confused as to how she didnt realize what was going on and when Something Like this happens it affect the whole family. My sister is also angry. We would do anything for each other and the fact that while all this was going on she just left for college as well. The fact she was so out of the loop, i think she i dont know, everybody feels like they could have done something but at the same time they didnt know it was happening so they cant. Martha you are all such an example for the whole country to stand up and say what you said to larry. What was that like four, jamie . For you, jamie . It was important to see him for me face to face. And because it was about him it was about all of us finally having a voice and a strong voice together and a big step in our healing process. Martha so theres an investigation of the usoc and usa gymnastics. Hows it make you feel you spend time with capitol hill yesterday in the hall and everybody is listening to what you are saying because of the bravery of the three of you. Each one of you, give me your feeling about that before we finish. I definitely know i have not taken it all in. Its definitely surreal. Thats the only word i can think of because people are finally listening finally listening and thats why i want to continue the fight and make sure change keeps happening and going in the right direction and keep the momentum going. Martha does it help you heal . Absolutely. Thats the biggest thing when you can help somebody else out and create change, to me its the ultimate healing because youre changing peoples lives and making sure kids wont go through what you went through. It feels i feel so proud of the work that weve done and like jamie said, its surreal. Were in washington, d. C. With senators and theyre listening and taking action and wanting to help us. We havent seen that kind of help or support in our whole careers. And to have it be from people that can make differences and change the course of history is amazing. Martha it would have never happened if you guys didnt have the strength to stand up and talk about what happened and share it with everybody. Mattie, what do you hope for your future . I hope this will never happen to any other child again. No child deserves how we were being treated. Its amazing whats happened. I literally its still upsetting to me that this had to happen after 156 women had to testify. It should have taken one. Im still a little angry but im also very grateful and happy that actual laws are being enacted to help change the system. And for the future, this is absolutely, 150 cannot happen to kids. Its awful. Martha you guys are really moving the ball and a thank you all for talking with me this morning. Thank you for your bravery and you really set such a great example for so many women in the country so thank you. Good to meet you all. Really impressive young women. I was my honor to sit down with them. Well take a quick break. More story when we come back. President trump gave his first state of the union. You probably saw it. What was strikes is how ordinary it was. You heard broad appeals to National Unity and calls for strong borders and you heard warm words for the countrys bedroom institutions from the family to the democratic process.
