One resident thinks they are false chinch bugs from a nearby palm tree plantation. They dont seem to hurt anything or any hi, everyone. Im gretchen carlson. This is the real story today. For the next primary battle looming out there, senator cruz trying to gain ground in delegaterich pennsylvania. We are also just minutes away from a donald trump rally taking place in indianapolis. And Hillary Clinton is talking gun violence in philly. Fox Team Coverage for you. Fox news sunday anchor Chris Wallace, coanchor bill hemmer here in new york. Jeff, youre in indianapolis. People are wondering today why trump is in indiana while contests in pennsylvania, connecticut and others are first, theyre next week. Reporter well, it is generally thought, gretchen, that hes going to do pretty well in these east coast states. But indiana, california, two states that could really be up for grabs. 57 delegates here. Important to note, these 57 delegates have already been chosen by Party Apparatus and not very friendly to trump perhaps. And consequently, if he doesnt get past the first ballot theyd be bound to him if he was to win the popular vote on the first ballot. But if they go to a second ballot they would be ys actualls got a majority of those delegates committed to him if it gets to a second ballot. All right. So i know that early voting has been going on in indiana. I believe primarys not until may 3rd. So is there any way to know who is ahead in indiana right now . Thats the interesting thing as this begins to kick off here, we kind of dont know. The reality is there hasnt been any polling here done since december since there were 17 or 18 republican candidates. Some people think donald trump is a guy who the state is friendly this point
no polling so we kind of dont know. Governor mike pence, by the way, just met with donald trump today. He has not endorsed but he says he may endorse. Hes going to meet with cruz tomorrow and he says hell also meet with john kasich as well. Could make a difference in that state if that endorsement comes through. Thank you. Cruz, you see the senator saying hes going on to cleveland, the people will prevail. So is that possible . Bill hemmer is here at the bill board, named after him. Whats the latest projection according to your mapping . Two days in a row this is now. Can you believe it . So heres what we did. We got together with our research team. Our brain room. We took all the polling that is available. Theres not a lot of polling in indiana which makes it a bit confusing. Heres what we did. Your starting numbers, 845 for trump right now, he needs to get to 1,237. Five states next tuesday, all in the northeast. We think trump does well in rhode island. In connecticut. In compare. In maryland. And in pennsylvania. But he would still be below the 1,000 mark according to our calculation right now as of next tuesday night. So those are all next tuesday. But then you got all these western states. What happens after that . Jeff is in a really good spot there in indianapolis. There is a reason why trump went there today. Indiana right now would appear to favor ted cruz. Could change. Dont know. So we put cruz in indiana, and you see how he gets that number. Then you go out to nebraska, we think that favors cruz. West virginia, bit of a mixed picture right now, but again we are giving all 34 to trump as of today. That could change a little bit. Then your third week in may, it is oregon favors trump but not by a lot. Washington state favors cruz, but not by a lot. So now gretchen, you are in the month of june and you are still below the magic number. We think montana favors cruz. Likewise for south dakota. We still think that new mexico is a 50 50 spt. And we believe that trump gets 100 delegates in california. Now there are others who put his number higher than that. Maybe 100 is right. Maybe it is low. And that same day is new jersey. So after all of that, trump would be 68 shy based on this projection as of today. Then you get into the unknown you keeping track of this to see how close you are . Were working really well together so far. Brian murphy and our team and brian rooney trying to figure out if our projection is still on target based on what the voters are doing. So were comfortable with this right now, but check back in a day or two. All right. See if it changes. At the bill board. As you know, donald trump needs 1,237 apparently delegates to clinch a nomination. Behind the scenes folks are saying his magic number could be less. A member of the Republican National committee saying this. If hes close after june 7th, there will be a compelling reason for folks to say hes won the most delegates by a lot and hes won the most voters by a ton. A Convention Delegate from california saying this, i think a lot of people think if he gets within 50 to 1 00 of the delegates needed, hell be able to carry it. Time to bring in Chris Wallace for his brilliance on this, anchor of fox news sunday. This is starting to percolate, not just from Trump Supporters but people you would deem to be part of the establishing, saying, if he gets pretty close, it might be close enough. The magic number is 1,237 and it will remain 1,237. Somehow he has to get to 1,237,
a majority of the delegates, to be the nominee of the party. Thats the rules and thats not going to change. The question is if hes 68 votes short or 100 votes short, will he be able to make up difference to get to the magic number of 1,237. There is going to be a lot of pressure. Interesting the clip you just played of ted cruz where he said im going to cleveland where he said, i hope the people prevail. What does he mean by the people . If he means the millions of people who have voted, the millions of people who have ended up allocating the delegates, then trump will have prevailed because hes clearly going to be in the lead in votes and delegates getting to cleveland. Thats already in the books. By the people, if he means the 2,400 delegates at the convention, as if those are the only people, well then conceivably he can win. But it is what you are hearing from some people in the establishment, its what we saw in the exit poll yesterday in new york, 60 , 70 of people around the country when theyre asked who should get the
nomination, if nobody gets do 1,237, they say the person who comes into the convention with the most votes and most delegates. Exactly. Were going to hone in on that a little bit more later on but it is a great point that you make there. Now this is just breaking right now. The Washington Post got its hands on this trump memo. Its just come out. Heres what it says, in part, about the 1,400 delegates that they think that they may be able to amass. First what they say about cruz, the cruz spin machine produces more lies than anything else. Your projections call for us to accumulate over 1,400 delegates and thus a first ballot nomination win in cleveland. So this memo, chris, going out internally to trump people saying that they think that theyre going to be able to get this 1,400 number. I dont see how they get to 1,400. You could argue on the margin, he might be off by 50 or 100, hes not off by 300. Hes got about 1,100 and theyre
talking iing about 1,400. I think maybe theyre talking about the unbound delegates. I dont think we get to 1,400, unless what happens is you have kind of a movement after california on june 7th and you start to see people, in effect, joining the bandwagon. It is so interesting, of course, trump wrote one of the most successful Business Books i think he would say, the most successful business book ever writt written, the art of the deal. Well get to see donald trump and the art of the deal. As you say, there are unbound delegates, 50 of them in pennsylvania. Theyll have this big vote next week, 54 of the delegates completely unbound. Theyre free agents. You got to figure that donald trump is going to find ways and it is legal to pay for their trip to cleveland. Its legal to wine and dine them. Thats not some kind of bribery or anything like that. So well see just how good a dealmaker donald trump is as he tries to make up the margin between whatever he ends up with
in bound delegates and the magic number of 1,237. It is going to be fascinating. Heres another really interesting thing that came out of that trump memo that we just got our hands on. Heres his message to the rnc. The rnc has a lot to answer for, as do those who are part of the donor class and the party establishment. This movement scares the hell out of them and the people scare them, so they will do whatever they can to keep power. I mean this has been his message, right . Yeah, but i think to a certain degree thats spin on his part. It isnt like the rnc in march or something after he had a good super tuesday said we got to find a way to stop trump. All these first of all, the states make up the rules of how theyre going to choose their delegates. It isnt the central rnc in washington that does it. It is the Republican Party in iowa or colorado or wyoming. And they have to have settled on that by some time last i think it was by october of last
year. So this has been was baked in the cake long before donald trump had won a single delegates. I think to some degree bsh y saw this a lot in new york. Trump likes to play the victim to a secertain degree, playing the people who feel theyve been messed over, taken advantage of, whether by big politics, big government, wall street, and hes taken them as its us against them. Lets go to the dem side. Hillary clinton delivering a new york knockout to Bernie Sanders last night, winning by 15 points. So what is Bernie Sanders next step . He took the day off today. But there are still superdelegates on the democrats side and last time a lot switched away from Hillary Clinton and went to barack obama. So should he stay in it . I think that shes basically got it wrapped up. I was talking about this with joe trippi last night, the campaign cowboys. I think there is going to be enormous pressure on Bernie Sanders to do 1 of 2 things. Either get out of the race, which i doubt he will do, or, two, cool the race. There was one time when it was really about issues. It was only in the last perhaps month when it really turned bitter and personal as we saw, especially in that brooklyn debate last week where hes basically saying that shes being paid off by wall street and paid off by big investment firms, by quarter Million Dollar speeches and all of that. There is a way he could campaign on the issues without attacking her. But i think there is going to be a lot of pressure on him, look be with shes going to be the nominee, do you really want to be the person who makes it harder for her to win and maybe throws the election to a ted cruz or donald trump . I dont know how hell answer that. He may just say thats her problem, not mine. But i think hes going to face a lot of pressure to either get out of the campaign or tone it down in the personal attacks. All very interesting. We will see how that plays out and we will be watching you on sunday, chris. Thank you. South slammed with historic flooding and residents bracing now for even more. The driver thankfully emerged from that hole unharmed. Back to politics now. The republican flasnc holding i meeting on the rules taking center stage in florida. 168 rnc members who are all delegates will attend the meeting in hollywood, florida, but no rule changes will actually happen this week. Thats because the gop rules can only be rewritten and adopted every four years at the national
convention. But one proposal is to have the convention in cleveland operate under roberts rules of order instead of the house of representatives rules. And gop chair Reince Priebus is probably making this a top priority finding potential chairmen for the four Convention Committees which are rules, credentials, platforms, and permanent organization. Senator ted cruz and Governor John Kasich will be at the Spring Meeting in person. Donald trump is sending representatives as he continues to blast the delegate process. Nobody should take delegates and claim victory unless they get those delegates with voters and voting. And thats whats going to happen. And you watch. Because the people arent going to stand for it. Its a cooked system. Its a system thats rigid and were going to go back to the old way. Its called you vote and you win. Joining me now, david rucker, Senior Correspondent for the Washington Examiner whos become an expert of sorts on
this whole delegate process as you continue to look at the u. S. Territories and all of the states. How important is this meeting thats taking place there . I hate to burst everybodys bubble but in terms of the rules committee meeting, thats not important because nothings going to happen. The chairman and members dont really want any rule changes. A few members want some rules changes but really nobody wants to mess with this until the Convention Rules committee meets. You very ably pointed out how that process works. But i think whats going on here in that is important is that delegates are busy talking to each other. These are rnc members, theyre also delegates with a lot of pull and a lot of influence. They are talking to each other about what they want to see out of a contested convention if it happens. They are planning and hearing from the campaigns. Jeff row, Campaign Manager from ted cruz, gave an hourlong briefing to rnc members, delegates, about their plans for the fall, how theyd lay out a Grassroots Campaign that would support all republicans. The warning is if you go with
donald trump, thats a whitewash thats the word jeff rowe used because hes got no Grassroots Organization and youre all going to be in trouble. You might not need it. We just dont know yet. It is interesting because trump has been calling out the rnc in big ways calling the whole process crooked and saying that this is not the way that we should electricity a praesident. It seems like he might be taking a bit of a turn because he does have to rally these delegates, does he not . He does. You bring up a really important point. I havent seen that turn yet. If we listen to those remarks from last night, you just played them, hes still calling the process rigid. Hes basically referring to delegates as on the take and crooked. I was talking to delegates, rnc members this morning. What they were saying is thats very unhelpful if he wants hem to rally behind them. If not at the convention, if he is the nominee because he has the votes with be in the fall. These are the people who do the grunt work, phone calls, fundraising, knocking on doors. And if he doesnt have them, hell have a much harder time against Hillary Clinton. Shes got plenty of problems but one problem she wont have is organization and money and knowhow. These states are very complicated in the general election. Ght weeks, six weeks, and you have to know what you are doing. If he doesnt have the delegates, he doesnt have the food soldiers, donald trump is going to be in trouble and he really in talking to members here, what theyre saying is stop attacking the system weve devoted our life to. Very interesting and well laid out. Keep us posted on what happens down there, david. Thank you. Time for my take. After a huge new york win, donald trump needs to win 63 of the remaining delegates to secure the magic number of 1,237 before the convention and be the republican nominee. Now we are hearing from party elites, people who are part of the establishment, that even if trump doesnt get to the magic number but is close, it will be tough to take the nomination away from him. Thats very interesting. And here could be one reason why. In the new york state exit polls last night, this one question
caught my eye. It said, if no one reaches the 1,237 delegate threshold, the gop should nominate the candidate who has the most votes, or who delegates think is best. Well, 68 of new york gop voters said who has the most votes. Granted, many of those voters like donald trump, but still, other polls have shown the majority of americans think the peoples voice should be the one heard. And yet cruz continues to run what many have described as an amazing ground game to secure and woo delegates. Just in case. And he said last night after coming in third in new york he definitely still is headed to cleveland where he says the people will prevail. But the big question is, which people . Residents in michigan spent months without safe Drinking Water, flint, michigans water, who is now facing the latest consequences . Plus, is it time to pass
along the penny . Should we keep the penny . Or does it clog up your wallet . Tweet me gretchencharles sarls. Look, it is about even. Come on, vote has the real story. Well, we have an alert right now in the first criminal charges in the flint water crisis. The Michigan Attorney general accusing two state regulators and a City Employee now of covering up what they knew there. Well have more in just a
moment. Were zbrg going to talk ab money. Dough. Hillary clinton were not going to talk about that either. We are going to talk about politics no, going back to money. Okay, it is live tv. A push to redesign americas money will mean a new face on the 20 bill. Yea zbrimpl yay we got it right Harriett Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson. The proposal follows backlash to change the 10 bill. How long before we see changes to our currency . Who doesnt like talking about money . The 20 currently has Andrew Jackson on the front but redesigning it takes a couple of years at least. They want to make sure counterfeiters cant recreate it, some of the special security features they work. Jackson leaving has a lot of people up in congress ranked. Folks from tennessee didnt really like this president who was seen as a real outsider removed from the bill. Hairriet tubman escaped slavery in the south. She would be the first woman to grace modern currency. Many of her family and herself became part of the union army once the civil war began. Keep in mind though this could all change. Even though the treasury secretary is set to announce this this afternoon, jack lew, it could be the next treasury secretary of the next administration says, no, jackson stays, or could go a completely different direction. Interesting. Especially since there is so much talk about the political outsider this was and thats what jackson was and hes getting the boot. How did Alexander Hampton get saved on the 10 . Is it only because the hampton broadway show is so popular right now . Exactly. That has something to do with
it. Originally they were going to redesign the 10 bill. Says we, people. Alexander hamiltohamilton, form secretary of the treasury. But the current treasury secretary jack lew decided to change him. Hamilton brought new fame to the founding farther. He died as Vice President in 1804. Hamilton stays, but ends up on the back of the bill. Another change could be coming according to the wall street journal they are thinking, they up on capitol hill and treasury department, in eliminating the penny. We do have a very large penny jar that ive never distributed to in the washington bureau. Turns out making one penny costs 1. 7 cents. Imagine that a Government Program that is still in existence that costs more money than it actually makes. They talk about eliminating the
penny before. E penny has its own lobby. We will have to see if the penny gets eliminated. Leland, fox news alert. Thats not the only Government Program thats costing more than its worth. Just a headsup. Great job i love you outside, leland. Youre really great at history. Thank you. I just made most of it up. All right. Stranded for days in 100 degree heat until this incredible rescue took place. Were going to show you what happened there. Plus Hillary Clinton is heading to pennsylvania after her big new york state win but does she have to worry about her rising number. And where is senator Bernie Sanders today . As ted cruz has a message for clinton. Cross the country, 65 to 70 of republicans recognize that donald trump is not the best candidate to go headtohead with Hillary Clinton. Terry bradshaw . What a surprise you know what else is a surprise . Shingles. And how it can hit you out of nowhere. I know. I had it. Cmon lets sit down and talk about it. And did you know that one in three people will get shingles . all no. Thats why im reminding people if you had chickenpox then the shingles virus is already inside you. all oooh. Whos had chickenpox . Scoot over. And look that nasty rash can pop up anywhere and the pain can be even worse than it looks. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist. About a vaccine that can help prevent shingles. Fox news alert now on the first criminal charges in the flint water crisis. Michigan attorney general accusing two state regulators and now a City Employee of covering up evidence showing that the citys Drinking Water was contaminated. Residents drank and bathed in the water for nearly 18 months after the state switched the citys water source in an effort to try an save some money. The city returned to its original source in october. To politics now, hillary
clinton rushing full steam ahead to the next round of primaries after celebrating a decisive victory over Bernie Sanders in new york last night. Chief White House Correspondent ed henry live in philly today. Where do they go from here, ed . Reporter well, whats interesting is, it could not be a more different picture last night. I was there with Hillary Clinton on 7th avenue at the sheraton and it was one big party celebration, as you would imagine. They believe it was basically a knockout blow, 15, 16margin points over Bernie Sanders. Bernie sanders went over to vermont looking somewhat dejected and tired. The bottom line is both these folks need to come together at some point because clinton is getting closer and closer to getting the nomination. But she delivered a jab in her victory remarks about how new york proved that you cant just diagnose a problem, you need to have a prognosis. Sanders went after the fact that he griped about how independents didnt get to vote, thats why he lost new york. Then look at this very colorful description from a clinton aide
to politico. Basically saying that sanders had his butt kicked. They went a little further than that and added, i hope this convinces bernie to tone it down. If not, [ bleep ] him. It gives you an idea of how far apart these two are in terms of coming together, unifying ahead of the november general election. Hillary clinton is going to be here in philadelphia in a little while, Bernie Sanders in vermont recharging batteries and rethinking the next step. New york was a closed primary, so sanders may be on to something with the independents maybe not being able to vote for him. But im interested in knowing from you, how did clinton win so decisively in new york, and where does she stand now in the delegates . Reporter thats the important part. Where do we go from here. Look at this map first of new york and Hillary Clinton in yellow. She dominated obviously. Bernie sanders in green. He did well in patches of upstate but the big cities upstate syracuse, rochester, buffalo, and then all around new
york city, Hillary Clinton did extremely well despite those large rallies Bernie Sanders had in various boroughs. Clinton when you combine pledged delegates, superdelegates, clinton only needs 453 more to cinch it. Sanders needs over 1,100. That means he needs Bernie Sanders over 70 of the remaining delegates to get this nomination. Thats basically impossible, gretchen. Okay. Then theres still the superdelegates. Who knows. It stays interesting. Scoop, good to see you. For more on this, chris plant, syndicated radio talk show host. Leslie marshall, also a syndicated radio talk show host. Leslie, you are the democrat on the panel. Lets talk about hillary and Bernie Sanders. Because one thing thats for sure, there is this bernie momentum thats going on. Do you feel now like theres a hillary momentum thats going to start a little bit more . I feel that weve had a hillary momentum all along, but i do feel that senator sanders needs to be credited for the race that he has won thus far and that he is far exceeded expectations, i think perhaps even his own and perhaps even his own campaigns expectations. But if you look at numbers i know a lot of people say superdelegates when she has more than 500, even if you take those away, she is hundreds of delegates ahead of him. Over 2 million votes ahead of him. And despite a lot of negative press which she certainly gets a lot more of than senator sanders, shes been running a very Good Campaign and she has millions of people showing up to vote for her. Shes doing quite well. All be that said, the expectations i think of her campaign originally was this campaign would have wrapped up a long time ago. Next, this chart shows Hillary Clintons rising unpopularity the longer that we go into this
campaign. It is up now to 56 from down in the 20 area months ago. How do we explain this, the longer she is in the race and looking like the nominee, the more unpopular she is . Its certainly not good news for hillary around the campaign. With all due respect to hillary, it started out as a coronation and nobody could touch her, when the ocrats have no appetite for hillary, there is no enthusiasm. And to know her apparently is to dislike her. Because the more people get to know her, the more exposure she has as a president ial candidate to the american people, it is not just republicans g republicans, its democrats, too. She said recently shes not the natural politician that barack obama and bill clinton are and thats obviously true. But it is more than that. Shes just she lacks charisma, likability, and thats important in a politician. Leslie, what do we do if
youre in the hillary exampcamp you are advising her to get the support of the potential Bernie Sanders fans . One of the reasons people think Bernie Sanders got to be so popular is because people didnt like hillary or at least they werent enthused. It might be a combination of things. But lets say now Bernie Sanders stays in or gets out either way, how do you thrill his supporters to suddenly like Hillary Clinton . Well, there is a few things here, gretchen. I mean first of all, yeah, those are not good numbers, those are negative. But trumps the worse, 69 . I think he will be on that platform opposite her. With regard to Bernie Sanders and his supporters, senator sanders has a lot of responsibility here in regard to that. He in the beginning lass said he would support her if she was the nominee and she has said and continues to say that. Theyve both said, better a democrat in the white house than a republican or certainly a donald trump. But he needs to bang that drum louder. When hes said things, even
though he back peddals on, you arent qualified to be press, or when he says nobody cares about your email. One of the reasons hes popular is not just his dislike of Hillary Clinton and his supporters, it is because they view him, even though hes been in washington as a politics most of his life, as a antiwashington antidemocrat outsider. Hes been in washington for decades so i have trouble wrapping my head around that outsiders image of him. Chris, do his supporters automatically go to Hillary Clinton . A lot of times in these exit or entrance polls, independent voters say they are deciding between trump or sanders. I think generally speaking the Democrat Party will certainly gather lined Hillary Clinton but will all these 20something millenials who love the bernie message, as misguided as it is, will they flock to
Hillary Clinton. And there are serious indications that they will not, that they simply dont like her, that they find her very distasteful. One thing leslie said, also, that Donald Trumps negatives are higher, it is true. But then leslie also, at the moment they are, also went to the fact that bernie is the outsider. Donald trump is the outsider and hillary is an entrenched washington been here since most of america was young. It is a good point as well as the fact their high negatives may actually erase each other. Could just be a wash. Leslie and chris, so much to talk about. Thank you. Thanks. An incredible rescue. Back here on the real story, were going to talk about the cruz campaign. They are looking to shore up big support in pennsylvania in the states unique primary rules could create a major headache for donald trump because pennsylvania has 71 delegates, but only 17 of those actually go to the winner. The voters there elect the other 54 individually by district, and those delegates will be unbound to support whomever they want to on the first ballot in july at the convention. Time to bring in monica crowley, from the Washington Times and an expert recently in pennsylvania. We all are. We are all trying to become experts. 17 bound to the winner of pennsylvania. But 54 unbound and whether you go to the ballot box, you see
something really, really, really confusing. It is a list of all the delegates but it doesnt tell you who they support. You need a ph. D apparently in Rocket Science to figure it out. They say were leaving it up to voters to do apparently hours of research to try to figure out which delegate might be assigned to which candidates. It is a very complicated situation in pennsylvania. But then again, the rules are the rules. And ted cruz has run a very smart sophisticated operation for quite a white now. What hes doing is going in and making a play for these delegates early on before the actual primary contests are happening and hes walking away with a lot of delegates. In fact, in pennsylvania he could come in a distant third and still win in terms of the number of those delegates. 54 who will go to the convention unbound, but kind of have told him or his campaign that theyre supporting him on the first vote and thereafter as wel well. This is what hes handing out,
monica, to people last night when he was in pennsylvania. This is like a delegate cheat sheet. Hes not cheating, but it is a cheat sheet saying vote for these delegates if you want ones that support me. Hes doing the homework for them. Absolutely, very smart. Hes got the ground game. Hes doing the leg work. He is talking to the individual delegates and saying, look, if you commit to me, at least on the first ballot, going into the second ballot heres what were going to do. And he is passing these flyers out to voters so that they are inclined to vote to ted cruz, then they know what delegates to also vote for. Because remember in pennsylvania the delegates are being elected separately, as we just said. Ted cruz is running the ground game brilliantly. The tension here is that donald trump is winning the popular vote in a lot of these states, so you have the Party Republican establishment not knowing quite how to navigate this tension. Lot a little bit about the trump campaign. He now has Paul Manafort in charge who knows how to do this kind of stuff. Are you surprised we havent
seen a little bit more of that organization than on the ground . Or does it just take so long to develop it . We did see it in trumps speech. Disciplined. He was very disciplined. He didnt say liein ted cruz, he called his senator ted cruz. Thats right. But will we see more from manaforts fingers on this campaign when it comes to try and secure these delegates . Remember that donald trump has just literally just hired these seasoned operatives, Paul Manafort, rick wiley is another one. He also hired a topflight republican elections attorney who knows how the convention process and allocation works. This team has literally just come together. But now it is the time for them to hit the ground running if they are serious about there. I assume that they are. But now is the time for them to really prove their worth. They got to get in there and he has to get in there. The interesting thing is ted cruz met with these delegates last night after a rally in pennsylvania. Trump sends his representatives. He i think needs to get there
himself as well. Zulu69er. Clear for take off. Roger that see ya we are outta here woo when youre living with diabetes. Steady is exciting. Oh this is living baby only glucerna has carbsteady,.
