Last fall not to discuss kaylas case but you can discuss it today . Reporter were free to discuss some but not all of those details at this time. Our contact had been involved in some efforts to free the hostages. What we can report today based on that contact is new information about her kidnapping in syria, what we understand is that she was traveling with a syrian man who she introduced as her boyfriend to her colleagues, they were traveling not far from aleppo when their car was forceded off the road. And the two were kidnapped together some days later. The syrian manage was released by isis. And tlvpszhere was a real question at this time whether this boyfriend was somehow bait to get her into the trap. That was somehow dismissed after the syrian man went back to isis to try to secure her release but unfortunately to no avail. We were able to confirm the location where the hostages were all held together between 20 there were three specific locations, one was aleppo the other was an Industrial Area and the third was in the isis strong hold of raqqa syria. By the spring of 2014 the isis captors felt so confident about their situation that there was very little visible security around the hostages, and by may, eight western hostages were held together in one location. The women were separated from to the men. But we understand that kayla was able to get a communication to the western hostages including jaems foley, that she was not being mistreated or abused by her isis captors, gretchen. Wow, amazing information. So what are we learning as well about this letter that kayla apparently wrote the family has just released it. Reporter well, its a single page letter and based dd on the references in it it does appear that she wrote it sometime after november of 2014 so at that time she would have been well aware that a number of hostages were no longer traveling with her, though its not clear she would have been aware that so many of her american colleagues had been beheaded by the terror gruchlt and theres one section i would like to read to you. It says in part, quote, i remember mom always telling me that all in all in the end the only one thing you really have is god, i have come to a place and experience where in every sense of the word i have sure republican surrendered myself to our creator because there was no one else. There was very specific intelligence about the location or group of western hostages in may of 2014. So specific our contact told us that it was a building and a layout plan and it was not disputed by the u. S. Intelligence community only asking us not to identify the building by name which we are aware of here at fox news. The question is why was there such a delay by the white house to act on this information. There was no rescue operation until about seven weeks later and there was a fuchbtdmental disconnect between the quality of the intelligence which the rescue team felt was of a sufficient leflz that thigh could act and what was described to me as a significant delay on behalf of the white house asking for intelligence to build up further before they would act. This was really the last and best opportunity to get all of the hostages together. Because after news of the raid was sort of well understood aisis, they were no longer being kept together. Josh ernest had a press conference and theres another hostage in syria but not being held by isis, what do you mow in. Reporter i found josh ernests statement somewhat sort of confusing in the sense that he said there are american hostages, plural, in the region. We know about austin tyson abamerican, and its not clear which group has troll of tice. But its not clear who to work with. But independently we know through our reporting at fox news, there was also a european bomb woman who was held for a significant period of time who was held with Kayla Mueller. But really what the white house said on the record today is that in fact there is probably more than within other hostage that remains in the custody of a foreign leekly terrorist group. All brand new information. Thanks so much. Meantime were getting new reaction from the white house, following the confirmation of Kayla Mueller es death. Ed henry joins us on the white house lawn. The White House Briefing got emotional today as officials re reacted to kaylas death . Reporter as you know, josher nest has to deal with a lot of tough subjects. This was not about politics, it was about him trying to sporntd in a very personal way to that letter. Josh saying he was moved personally by the references to god and the fact that kayla said, look, i have a lot of fight left in me despite my desperate situation. I was personally moved by her comments that she saw god in the eyes with people who were dealing with terrible crisis. That is a particularly profound wise statement from such a young woman. But i think it does go to the character and generosity of spirit that she embodied. Now josh ernest also revealed that the president had a direct phone conversation with kaylas parents in the last couple of days, the timing is still a little murky because ernest was pointing out that the family first got word this weekend that kayla had been killed, they were shown everyday to that effect. It took another day or so for the Intelligence Community to learn that and they wanted to let kaylas family announce it today. Okay a lot of people are wondering where the president stands on all this islamic extremism. Is he still june playing that . Whats knew about that. Reporter the president was suggesting that maybe Climate Change was a bigger threat than terror and that the media was hyping the terror threat. Josh ernest said many more people in their day lie lives are impacted by Climate Change than are impacted by terror. I pressed him on another thing in that interview listen. He said, im sort of like a big city mayor is that the president trying to downplay the event . Is president spends a good part of his dye dealing with the that seek to do harm to the american people. S. New today some of the president s top aides are on capitol hill as we speak briefing senators behind closed doors on a new authorization for the use of military force they will send josh ernest said in the briefing, the president thinks this will outlast his presidency, that the they will not be defeated by the end of the president s time in office. Very interesting. So kaylas death raising a host of questions about what the United States can actually do in isis hostage situations. Joining me now, van hip. We just heard from katherine heritage that apparently her sources are telling her that there was great intel months ago that eight american hostages or western hostages were in this building. According to american sources the United States waited seven weeks before acting on any of that swaegs. If youve got actionable intelligence intelligence, if the Defense Intelligence agencies say we have got good actionable intelligence and we can get them out, youve got to move. Ive got to say this about Kayla Mueller, she represented the best of america and over young people with her spirit of volunteerism and trying to help others. And gretchen i think what this underscore underscores, the fight against radical islam, and it is a fight against radical islam, this is the a threat to pure and good people. Ed henry just reported to us that the white house spokesperson josh ernest doubling down on the president s remarks about this type of threat and actually saying that Climate Change affects more people today than the threat of isis, and what would you say to that . According to the fbi director, we have got 49 states open fileless of potential isis connections in 49 states. We know that isis wants to kidnap everyoners, this is the challenge of our time, the fight against radical islam. They want to kill us, we dont need a policy gretchen of degrading isis we need to kill them. We had probably almost 90 of isiss spreadpredecessor organization wiped out by 2010. We listened to general austin, and i think this is important a good commander in chief, listens to his ground commanders. I think had we listened to general austin we would have delegitimized isis from the start. Now its time for good Old FashionedAmerican Leadership we need a plan working with our ground commanders, we need to stand by our allies in the region, give them everything that they need. We need to understand that this is a fight of good versus pure evil, and radical islam is the fight of our time. Van hipp, thank you so much for your thoughts and your expertise there. Now to my take. Now that we know that there is more than one american hostage being held in the middle east region. What will isis do to stay ahead in this battle of islamic terrorism. If they no longer have the power of american hostages what will they turn to next to keep the upper hand . Will they aim to take more american hostages . But what about regular folks like tourists . How does this fight against isis change the way in which americans start to make choices about where to travel . This is why the fight against islamic extremism goes so deep and obviously cannot be ignored. Isis has shown time and time again they arent thinking surrender. So i dont know about you, but i worry what might be next. Coming up on the real story today, the death of american hostage Kayla Mueller, yet another tragic remind of that brutality that i was just speaking of. So does president obamas comments about what the terror group is capable of all just media hype. And journal ils. Eastern time. In the meantime lets do some real talk on the death of kayla miler. As president obama prepares to ask congress to formally authorize the use of military force against isis. He also says that the media is jeffery state overstating the risk of terrorism. Larry oconnor morning radio host in washington. Theyre doubling down on this larry, josh ernest in a briefing just said again to our own ed henrys questions that Climate Change is something that affects way more people in the world than terrorism. And you say what . First of all, before i tear into simon, im sure he joins me in sending out prayers to the mueller family. To hear the president say that really americans are more affected by Climate Change, he should talk to the people of boston who are shoveling themselves out of several feet of Global Warming right now and they still have the memory of a radical islam eck there are attack from just last year in they minds it is a completely irresponsible thing for the president to say and it echoes the fact that president obama is not taking it seriously. I think that was the most memorable lines where we said, the greatest threat facing the world right now is Climate Change. Theyre still sticking to that story. Do you really believe that Climate Change is a bigger threat than what were seeing isis doing right now . First of all, i want to echo, larry, in sending my prayers and thoughts to kaylas family to date. I have three kids, one daughter and this is not an easy thing im sure for them. The second thing is that i think the notion that the president isnt serious about fighting terrorists silly. I mean whats happening today, for example, is that his team is on the hill working with republicans and republicans and democrats and the house and the senate to create an authorization to go after with even greater intentionity finally. Not finally, we have been over there the republicans could have passed whatever they wanted, they didnt need the president to make the ask. Youre forgetting that theyre actually equateing the importance of terrorism to Climate Change. I think that the notion that the president is downplaying this in any way is ridiculous. And i think that what hes saying, what he said and what josh ernest said today is that if you read the transcript of the energyinterview with fox, is that he would like to tell all the good things that are going on were combatting immortality. What he said in the interview is that he thinks that is a struggle that all news operations have about balancing bad news with good news. However, the fact remains that i dont think that the media has overhyped isis, in fact the main stream media has not even reported on its sits until just recently. The otwo congressmen say theyre going to skip netanyahus speech next weekend. Theres going to be more democrat who is join them. Well, listen, its a bad idea for the party, but it actually is finally a truthful statement, we know where they stand with regard to our very important ally in the middle east. How about karzai, when he was running for reelection of afghanistan, he addressed congress in june of 2004 when the election was in september. Speaker boehner should invite Hillary Clinton to this speech as an honored guest. Shes going to be in d. C. And let her say whether shes going to come or will she refuse . Simon . I think the democrats, and by the way, that includes the Vice President now, too i think the democrats are processing that Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to intervene in the u. S. And in our politics and for john boehner to have participated in that. I think its a bad press deferent and i think democrats are letting it be known that theyre uncomfortable with whats happening. It used to be that israel was a bipartisan issue, but even that is becoming dife ingbecomingtive dif visive. To be ans we learn more about the american activist killed being held by isis, should the u. S. Restrict citizens from working in these dangerous countries . I know this guy. Konohito. And this guy. The death of american hostage Kayla Mueller raising new concerns about the safety of other u. S. Aidworkers. Thousands of aid workers put their lives on the line every day and many of them are in high risk years like syria. Ken isaacs, the Vice President of samaritans purse, the same group Kevin Brantley worked with while treating ebola patients. Great to have you on the program, mr. Isaacs. I think a lot of people today are wondering about aid workers inside these countries and whether or not their work is going to be able to continue. And to that end, what would you say . I would say first of all that our prayers go out to god for the mueller family the loss of kayla is a horrible tragedy and you know, we condemn it we hate it for the family, we have had our staff kidnapped before and i know from first hand experience some of the trauma that the family goes through so this is a very difficult time and situation for them. We applaud kayla for her heart, for her life. And were just extremely sorry for this tragic loss. I think that when you look at the issue of humanitarian work around the world today, it is becoming a more dangerous kind of a thing to be involved in. Certainly humanitarian workers and journalists are targeted by terrorist organizations, by islamic organizations like isis and theres great propaganda value and theres great potentially monetary value for them by kidnapping folks that do those things. Should they correspondentntinue to be in those countries . Yes, i absolutely believe so. In my personal life, i feel like the humanitarian work that we do is something that god has pull a call in in our life and i think were called to help people in the ditches of life. If you look at the people coming out of syria, there are a lot of people in the ditch of life. And i hope humanitarian groups will not say its too dangerous in every way, shape and form. So i go think they need to go there and manage those risks. I know you have those teams that manage those risks versus countries that you dont this is obviously a personal choice for people who want to go and help . It is a personal choice, any time you go to a war zone, you are making a choice that something may happen to you, you have to be aware of those consequences. The thing that is particularly insidious about isis is that they are targeting foreigners to kidnap for propaganda purposes and they are killing them in the most horrendous of ways to use them as a werecruiting tool. Going there has danger you need to be aware of that danger and anyone that is working in those areas should have plans to mitt gate that danger, reduce that danger and try to manage it as best as possible. But you cannot make the danger go away. Ken isaacs with samaritans purse. Thank you for your thoughts. Kayla muellers family and friends expected to speak about her this afternoon in her hometown of prescott add add. They will be answering questions and sharing stories about her life and we will take you there live to arizona coming up next. Plus an exclusive on undercover activists operating in isiss home base, they are risking death to expose the horrible truth about isis and hoping the world will take notice. Listen to this. Because of the death of nortz, we continue to do these things we continue to expose to show the world what isis is doing. Can i have a break for five minutes, please . Huh, fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on Car Insurance. Everybody knows that. Well, did you know words really can hurt you . What. . Jesse dont go jesse. No im sorry daisy, but im a loner. And a loner gotta be alone. Heee yawww geico. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. Jesse . The family of Kayla Mueller will as word of her death spreads, the aid worker from arizona being remembered for her compassion and the life she dedicated to helping others. Ksaz reporter, live for us now in kaylas hometown of prescott arizona. Kaylas family officially got confirmation of her death this morning. And as you can imagine, the family is devastated and heart broken. Kayla is from the prescott area, this is a very small town, a tight knit community, her family was well known in this community. She went to Northern Arizona university, about an hour north of here and her friends and her family describe her desire to go to places like syria and help it was almost like a calling they say she saw inge justice in the wormtd andanted to be there and she wanted to help. In a statement the family released this morning, kaywe are so proud of the person kayla was and the work that she did while she was here with us. She lived with purpose and we will work every day to honor her legacy. Gretchen, her family says she often spoke of the joy it gave her to be there and to help. All right thank you so much for that report, andrew. And of course the family is going to be holding a press conference in about an hour and a half in now. Well, now we have an exclusive behind the scenes look at its siszsis, as one of the founders of the Syrian Opposition group talks exclusively to the wall street journal. Over the last year, abu abe bra home has had one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Together with 15 other activists, he has spent the last year secretly documents the harsh reality of life. Joining me now is the reporter from the wall street journal who produced that video you just saw. You traveled to raqqa, syria you befriended the people who were there. I interviewed a guy who is in raqqa syria, i interviewed him outside of syria. I have been in touch with these group of people for months i wanted to talk to them about the work they do. They risk their lives on a daily basis trying to track down isis and their movements. What did they find out . They find out that they are this group of people called isis are trying to change everything they know in their city, basically they are turning it into a very religious town they controlled the way women dress, the way guys are dressed, i mean they force them to grow beards, they are enforcing islamic laws on children they dictate what children are taught in schools, they basically control a city and change everything they are familiar with and made their own rules. This is isis extremists doing this to other muslims who are living in this country. Lets take a listen to this. Abu abrahim says isis is everywhere in raqqa. So this is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, right. Yeah, absolutely, they me, these activists know if they are caught by isis fighters they are going to be killed they know its not going to be a debate whether to put them in prison or torture them, they know they will be killed. The man that you interviewed witnessed his friend being murdered in the Public Square . Yeah there are 16 young men who put created this group together because they had the same aim, basically to protect their city from isis. And one of them was unfortunate and he was caught on his way to turkey. He was trying to three the city and the other fellow activists death one of the things that abu does is help map out isiss activities in the city but tracking where he thinks executions of hostages takes place and where isis have their operations. What do they do with the information . Abu and the other activists know the city very well. So when they hear about exkigss they go and try to find out where these executions take place and they put the information they got on social media for the world to know. Im sure that many people are looking at it, in the United States politicians trying to find out how isis thinks and works. Wow fascinating look behind the scenes at these very brave activists. Troubling new developments to tell you about in ukraine. Russian backed rebels carrying out an attack on a town well out of the front lines some 30 miles away from the nearest fight. Check out this dash cam video. Thats capturing the violence as it unfolded. You can see an explosion and flames in the distance. Five people killed, dozens more injured. Apparently this is the same town pro russian separatists were forced to retreat from back in july. The fighting comes just one day before a round of planned peace talks. Well keep an eye on this developing story. Shepard smith reporting live from the fox news desk. The white house preparing to send its war plans to congress as we wait for a pentagon briefing on the fight against isis. Its a News Conference its set to come at the top of the hour. Back to our top story today, the death of american hostage Kayla Mueller raising new muellers parentses confirming her death after receiving a private mess stage from the terror group. Last night our own bill oreilly questioning David Axelrod about the president s stance against isis, and specifically those comments made during last weeks National Prayer breakfast when he compared the crusades against what is going on in isis today. Let us not finding that entire quarter of the planet by the actions of the extremists lets its laitd the extremists, just like we wouldnt blame of some jews. Dr. Robert jeffers is pastor of the First NationalBaptist Church in dallas, texas. David axelrod was trying to get the message out. But its a hard one to defend, is it not . It is and what the president is doing is trying to draw a false equivalency between extremist muslims and extremist christians and its one that just doesnt economist. One is because its proportioned. Lets all admit, christians have done some terrible things in the past but nothing compared to radical islam. In 450 years of the inquisition there were about 4,200 people killed, thats about five a year, more people were killed on 9 11 by muslim terrorists than by all of the inquisition together. Heres the bigger problem together gretchen. Whenever christians commit acts of violence they are doing so many opposition to their faith. You cant cite one verse in the new testament that calls for killing unbelievers but when radical islamists commit acts of violence they are following the teaching of the koran. Jesus was the prince of peace said love ore enemies. Mohammad said christ sid your enemies. This was obviously part of prepared remarks. And they continue to defend it. I want you to listen today to josh ernest his spokesperson who again was questioned by our own ed henry pressed on it and heres what he had to say today. What is unquestionably true, is that truth history you are seeing individuals perpetrate terrible acts in the name of religion. And regardless of what religion youre using to try and justify your terrible act of violence. Its incumbent upon people of all faiths to step forward and say its wrong. They go to such Great Lengths to not call it what it is. I just dont get it. Look im offended as a christian. But thats not the big deal. Christianity will survive two more years of barack obama. What really bothers me is that we have a commander in chief that will not acknowledge the severity or the source of this problem. In that box interview that was released, you have the president saying that Climate Change is a bigger threat than islam. And not only that, you heard him say that the parachute ings were random acts of violence. These terrorists targeted the kosher deli for a reason. And youll never be able to defeat this enemy until you understand that at the root of radical islam is a deep hate for israel and anybody who supports israel and youre not going to reform that idea out of islam, its the idea of islam to you mentioned in your new book countdown to the say pock lips. Coming up on the real story, some never before seen souvenirs that are literally out of this world. Why they turned up more than four decades after we landed on the moon and guess where they were found . A closet. Not your run of the mill sun rise, what caused this particular site . Ght, so this tylenol arthritis lasts 8 hours but aleve can last 12 hours. And aleve is proven to work better on pain than tylenol arthritis. So why am i still thinking about this . How are ya . Good. The glow of some big northeast cities are below. So this spectacular vision captured by nasa on the International Space station, of course, the Northern Lights a natural phenomenon caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with the earths atmosphere. And that brings us to this story fittingly. Bag of equipment from the apollo 11 moon landing brought back to earth by astronaut Neil Armstrong discovered in a closet by his widow. Trace is live with more on this fascinating find. You have to remember there was only so much room on that space capsule. Every pound had to be accounted for. All the stuff in the white bag, the socalled purse, it was supposed to stay on the lunar module that was designed to be jettisoned from the orb iter and crash back on the moon. Neil armstrong told Commander Michael collins it was just some junk he wanted to take home. The most fascinating item is a 16 millimeter camera that actually filmed the eagles final descent as well as armstrongs first steps on the moon and his famous one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind statement. It filmed buzz aldrin planting the american flag. There was also a tether inside that bag and that was used to suspend Neil Armstrongs legs to get ready for his lunar landing. The bag contained utility lights, cables, a mirror, netting to hold back flying objects from the capsule and it also had hooks used for attaching a variety of other tethers. Even an emergency wrench to make sure they could open the hatch on the command module from the outside so they didnt get stuck on the moon. Theres no belief, by the way, that Neil Armstrong was trying to sneak all this stuff back home. Nasa thinks he just grabbed a few mementos from one of his greatest missions in history. But armstrong was a very private man, as you know and not even his wife knew about the bag. When Carol Armstrong found it while she was cleaning out his closet in their cincinnati home she contacted the national air and space museum and as you might imagine, the museum was thrilled to get this stuff. Right now, few of the items are on display. The rest are being cataloged and should be on display very soon. Its a pretty cool first look at some very rare space bootie. Wow, pretty cool. All right, trace, thank you so much. We are waiting now pentagon briefing. Expected to address the latest on the fight against isis after the confirmed death of hostage Kayla Mueller.
