Deblasio reiterated new yorkers should remain calm. I want to repeat what i said last night. There is no cause for alarm. New yorkers need to understand the situation is being handled and handled well. Theres no kaz for every day new yorkers to be alarmed. Rick leventhal is at the hospital where dr. Spencer is being treated. Whats the doctors condition right now . Gretchen, were told that he is stable, that he is talking on the phone, and that he is being treated, but they wont go into specifics because of privacy concerns. As you heard the mayor and other city officials continuing to reassure the public, which is understandably nervous because dr. Craig spencer has been riding on subway trains on numerous occasions. He visited numerous restaurants, and he also went bowling in brooklyn on wednesday night roughly 12 hours before calling officials to let them know he had symptoms of ebola. They say that he didnt develop his fever until thursday morning, and it was 100. 3, which is still below cdc guidelines of when someone might be contagious. Still, were told strict and scrupulous procedures were followed and have been followed. Dr. Spencer was transported to the hospital by First Responders in protective suits, and he has been quarantined. He is in isolation here at bellview hospital at this hour, gretchen. What about the other people he came in contact with, especially at that Bowling Alley, rick . Well, first of all, his fiance, who he was closest to, she lived with him, she halls also been quarantined, and he had a couple of friends that he spent time with on tuesday and wednesday. They are also in isolation. The Bowling Alley, you mentioned, it was closed as a precaution on wednesday after officials learned that he had been there. The Bowling Alley, were told, has been clean and has been cleared to reopen, but the city says theres nothing to fear from this case. We were sent here just to make sure even though we believed there was no risk here. We just came to insure that to see there was no exposure, there was no bodily fluids that were here. We have learned that we want to stand beside the owner and say theyve been cooperating fully. They closed voluntarily. Theyre taking steps beyond what we recommend to make sure that everything is safe here. And, of course, gretchen, millions of people ride the new york city subways every day. The city ssz the subways are also safe. They say ebola can only survive on hard surfaces for a few hours. There is no indication that dr. Spencer was contagious when he was riding the subways and no indication that he emitted any bodily fluids when he was on the subway, so they say no new yorkers should be nervous when they ride this train today. Okay. Thanks for the update. Rick leventhal, live at bellview. Worried about the governments ability, though, to respond to the crisis . Scenes like this not inspiring confidence. Officers near that doctors home were seen flowing their mask masks and gloves in a public trash can. Though its unlikely that those officers were inside the apartment or even touched anything. Its still raising some eyebrows. Trash sorters and other people do rummage through that sort of stuff. Some good news in the fight against ebola. Nina pham released from the hospital todaafter being declared free of the ebola virus. Pham will be meeting with president obama. Thats going to happen right now at the white house. Shes one of the two nurses, as you recall, which contracted ebola while treating thomas drunkan, the liberian man who died earlier in the month. This means she can soon be home with that little guy, her dog, bentley. The cavalier king charles spaniel tested negative for the virus. Vets tell us the adorable little pooch is doing great. So should doctors returning from treating ebola patients in africa be under some kind of mandatory quarantine here in the u. S. Or in africa . Doctor at nyu school of medicine, and my guest. Good to have you on, doctor. Nice to see you, grechern. Apparently starting monday there will be new guidelines from the cdc saying just what i said. This sort of selfmonitoring quarantine from people returning from ebola affected countries. Is that a good idea, or should they just stay in africa and stay quarantined there before they come back to the u. S. . I think both things make sense. If they stay in west africa at least in an area thats free of ebola, then at least we can feel a little bet more confident when they come back either to the u. S. Or to other countries. I mean, people travel. There are a lot of relief workers from other countries as well. I mean, i think either way they need to have leer guidelines about what the quarantine is and if we do it here, we need to have some type of quarantine support team, so a team that would go give people food or get their errands done or talk to their employer about how they have to remain in quarantine to make it ease wrer. Weve had several stories that people were in selfimposed quarantine, but they were still going outside, so they really werent in the quarantine. Thats the most concerning part. People not necessarily taking the quarantine as seriously as we want them to. Its because the medical field seems to be split on this quarantine. If you read articles in the last 24 hours, some are saying this doctor was fine. He wasnt contagious. The minute that he was, he wasnt in contact with anybody, and he called the hospital, and they dealt with it. Others are saying, you know, just for peace of mind, he should have done this for 21 days. Well, i agree. I dont think those things are contradictory, actually. So for him he didnt have symptoms when he went to the Bowling Alley or went on the subway, but if you think about the optics, how people feel thinking about it, you know, it is very concerning when you hear that someone who has ebola was using mass transit, was exposing, you know, all these people potentially to ebola. To be clear, i dont think anybody in new york has to worry about this case, but if you think about the future, what if somebody was really sick and doing these things . We should have a plan in place for that. Bellview is the hospital that he went to. Its one of the places that is supposedly prepared for ebola. I know you know testing these places for a couple of months. The hospitals in new york are all preparing for people being aware of ebola and being aware in that sense. Center centers are preparing in temz of treating patients. Bellview is one of them. I think the things that are reassuring here are that in terms of the training, you know, heave had fake patients coming in in terms of practicing what would we do in this case . Then they have feedback session wheres they figure out, okay, where do we make mistakes and what do we do to correct it . Also, theyve had internet communities where people can ask questions within the hospital. If you have a question, you get an answer pretty quickly, and you have an established authority. Like a command within the hospital to figure out what to do. I think those things are all reassuring. You cant tell if were prepared until we actually face the challenge, but i definitely think that those things are reassuring. Yomg what people have to woerp about in their daily lives, this is not the number one thing there, but in terms of how we see these missteps or, you know, judgment calls where it could have actually gone they could have gone a better route, i think thats whats really making people worry about it a lot more. All right. Dr. Debbie, great to have you on today. Thanks. Thanks. The ebola crisis taking center stage today in d. C. As house lawmakers blast the obama administrations response to the crisis. Chief Congressional Correspondent Mike Emmanuel live for us on capitol hill. Lawmakers did not get to hear from the president s new ebola czar, ron klain. Why not . Well, thats right, gretchen. Four hours of questions of Administration Officials and some outside experts. Ron klain, the newly appointed ebola czar was invited to attend, but he declined the invitation, and there was some disappointment amongst house lawmakers for him not showing up. There are also some lawmakers expressing concerns why the white house did not choose a doctor to serve in that role. Now, i want the record to be complete on why in the world a president picked a dag gone lawyer to head the ebola crisis instead of somebody with your vast and varied background. Congressman gabby followed up by saying when theres an opening on the supreme court, you can bet that president obama is not going to nominate a doctor to serve in that role. Some other officials defended klains qualifications. He just started in the job on wednesday, and you can bet that he will be invited to testify before congress again, gretchen. All right. Leave it to politicians to have the good oneliners. How concerned did some of the witnesses sound today . They did sound very concerned. You have the Homeland Security internal watchdog, the Inspector General who said despite the fact that congress had appropriated 47 million years ago for Homeland Security to prepare for a possible pandemic, he said that they had botched those preparations. Meanwhile, he also had a defense official expressing these concerns. The ebola emdemmic we face is a National Security issue. Absence our coordinated response in west africa, the virus is increasing spread brings the risk of more cases here in the united states. Now, after that fourhour hearing, some lawmakers are calling for an automatic 21day quarantine. We will see if that gains some sort of traction. Gretchen. Mike emmanuel live on capitol hill. Thanks, sir. Time for my take now. Theres no doubt that dr. Craig spencer was doing heroic work when he traveled to help ebolastricken patients in guinea, and it appears when he came back home to the u. S. And to new york city, that he didnt really violate in the rules, but my question today is more about commonsense. I dont know about you, but if i had just been in contact with ebola victims in south africa where the disease is widespread, handling their bodily fluids and treating them, i probably wouldnt just assume that everything was going to be aokay with me. Wouldnt it be prudent, maybe responsible to selfquarantine even if the cdc didnt slightly require it . If physicians treating ebola patients dont know and understand that, who would . I was just looking for a little commonsense. Coming up on the real story the war against isis rages on in the middle east. Reports of a School Shooting and a high school outside of seattle. At least two students have been shot. They are being airlifted to Harbor View Medical Center in seattle. No immediate word on their conditions. As you can see, the chopper shot is outside the school here with people streaming out from the building. Now, witnesses said the shooting took place in the School Cafeteria. The shooter believed to still be at large. Local news reporting a large Police Response outside marysville, pilchuk high school. As the chopper does more of a wide shot here. You can see the expanse of this school area here as people are streaming out, and can you see emergency vehicles there on this scene. This is about 40 miles north of the city. Students and a teacher have reportedly heard the gunshots. School officials said that there is an emergency situation going on at the school right now. The building is on total lockdown. We will have more for you as we get it. Right after this. Watchdog group contains thousands of documents that led to the 2010 murder of Border Patrol agent brian terri. Despite the fact president obama claimed executive privilege. Willy live in downtown l. A. Where attorney general eric holder is expected to speak shortly. William, what did you find in this list of documents . Well, fwrechen, Judicial Watch sued to get all the documents over which the president claimed executive prif. The staigs fought that, and this is a shortterm solution. Basically they got a list of some 15,000 documents which the president claims were used in the executive decision making. Socalled liberative documents. Yet, there are 23 emails between the attorney general and his wife. Seven more emails between attorney general holder and his mother. Critics will say theres no way those should be protected under executive privilege. Also, some speculate that he may have been using their email to hide the communications from the public. Other documents show while the president , of course, claimed he knew nothing about fast and furious until it was reported in the press, yet white house official tells kevin oreilly, his name came up 138 times, and there are email exchanges between white house advisor valley jarrett and eric holder. The attorney general shows the documents that he was directly involved with damage control. Also, theres a march 2011 document, three months after brian terris death where u. S. Attorney eric burke was discussing fast and furious weapons with his deputies. Yet, one day later he lied to the terry family and claimed that none of the guns found at the crime scene belonged to fast and furious. Finally, in february 2011 the chief of the department of justice, wrote to atf about a Personnel Matter one day after whistle blower john dodson exposed fast and furious, and then, of course, it led to a campaign to discredit dodson. Today there have been lets go to a soundbyte i think we have from Judicial Watch. Sfla this is eric holders legacy. Eric holder himself have said the fast and furious guns would show up at crimes for years to come. So its important we find out what went on, and its really outrageous that theyre withholding information about what the president knew, what the administration knew, and when they knew it today there are about four were sent to mexico and thehly administration held had been accounted for. We know of at least 170 traces of those weapons that have been found at crime scenes, and yet demands from congress, the administration has refused to disclose where those guns were found, and if their fatalities were involved. What we expect to hear from eric holder coming up just moments from now . Well, were not sure. We know that the doj has said it may release some of the actual documents november 3rd in response to the House Oversight committee lawsuit. What the attorney general will say today, were not sure. Back to you. Thank you so much. Fox news alert because i want to continue coverage of those reports for a School Shooting at a high school outside of seattle. At least two students were reportedly shot, but right now word coming in that as many as six people have been injured in this shooting at Marysville Pilchuk High School. Thats according to Law Enforcement sources right now. Lets go to shepherd smith who is right next door tore an update. Gretchen, weve been getting lots of word from our different affiliated stations and local police. We now know that gunmen shot at least two people in the cafeteria. Thats according to local reports now, and these are the latest pictures, these are live pictures coming to us from our Network News Service kla tv. Its been a very calm scene. This has been in no way reminiscent for those of you around for columbine or any of that sort of thing. Its been nothing like that. Students have been coming out very calmly. None of the hands over your head stuff. Teachers have been with them. You see some people who are in wheel chairs here and milling about very calmly, and it appears from the demeanor of the people who weve been watching here in the big wall that theyve got this pretty well under control. That said, local media reports tell us that two people were shot in the cafeteria, that multiple shots were fired. We know from authorities that the school is on lockdown. At least 20 police cars and lots of ambulances are responding here. We know because weve been watching it from this Helicopter Shot from cuomo. A mother said that her kids told her so there you go. Its sort of a third hand thing. The kids told mom they heard six or seven gunshots. Reporters say they saw students coming out with their hands on their heads in the early going. Now, you can see Law Enforcement officers here who are Walking Around with these kids. This one happens to be on the phone. You can always tell experience tells me that you can tell how serious things are by the way the Law Enforcement, the teachers, and the students are interacting. If its still an active scene, if they still have serious problems, you can almost always see it. Im not telling you that they arent. I am saying that the pictures that we see are giving us are giving us happiness. Not scare. We have a lot of kids who seem to be having a good time and i know that some of these are physically disabled kids, and some of these are kids who need a little bit of extra attention here in marysville, washington. Now, frankly at this point not a whole lot. Marysville was not an enormous Police Department outside of seattle. Theyre ugt approximate their resources into this school. They are not in a state of frenzy. Local reports i tell you this by information only. Local television stations, all of them, are reporting that six students at the school have been shot. Now local authorities have not yet it appears to us that they have everything pretty much under control. We have no reports of an active shotter situation. That is not whats happening here, according to all the information were getting here on the fox news desk. Instead what we have is an event that is over. Our hope and some new information just coming in. This is breaking news coming to us from the Seattle Times newspaper, and their reporting that the Police Sources say the High School Gunman is dead of a selfinflicted wupd. Thats the Seattle Times reporter jennifer sullivan, who is on scene. Police have just told multiple reporters that the gunman has killed himself. I want to read to you the latest from associated press. Thousands of police cars are swarming the high school after receiving reports of an active shooter that opened fire inside that school. At least two students were shot. They told us in the early going. No immediate report. The choppers have landed, taken at least two students away, and local reports indicate let me correct that. They tell us four other people have been shot. We dont have a way to know we dont have a way yet to know all of those that are shot. We know that two students confirmed by police now taken to a seattle area hospital. School a student and a teacher have been reported that gunshots were fired. That was the early report. And he his daughter were driving by the school when they say they saw this huge police presence. They were huddled together, taking to cars as they drove by. You can see theyre still staging these students here outside the school. I have been told that some of these are special needs kids, and you can see from the wheel chairs that clearly these are ones who might need a little bit more attention, and the school tells us that theyre getting it. You can see a lot of school mates helping them out. The cafeteria, on the far lefthand side of your screen, a very Large Police Presence thats made its way there where more right here in front, and some activity among Police Officers here. The one shooter shot and killed himself. This was from the Marysville School district. They released the following statement. The Marysville High School is in lockdown due to the emergency situation. Theyre vague in that. Police sources do confirm that the gunman is dead of a selfinflicted wound. Its entirely possible that someone needed help. There are a number of different scenario that is you can come up with, but every bit of information that we have suggests that the gunman in this case that has shot as many as six people in the cafeteria has killed himself. They were all wounded. Now were getting an update from the Seattle Times and other News Reporters there. The initial report from the police was that two of the students had been airlifted out of there, and i read that report to you from just a minute ago, and now were getting word that they were all taken by ground transport. You can see there are a number of ambulances that have been lined up here ready to treat anyone that might need it. Now can you see police running across the roof of this building. Lets listen in to komo, our Network News Service, the affiliate, as theyre getting new information right now. Also this morning here we are getting details as theyre coming in here, but as bill mentioned, david rose has been in contact with some Law Enforcement who has said that the shooter, it sounds like, is in custody. It sounds like we have david rose on the phone for us this morning. David, are you there. Listen, this is every parents and students nightmare that Something Like this happens. Weve seen way too much in this. Troopers have the area blocked off. Theyre clearing the rooms to make sure that the students are safe to make sure there are no more victims, and they find them, and they will escort them out quickly. They move fast. They dont wait for a swat team to show up. Officers i dont know the status of the shooter. There are six victims, and that the shooter is no longer a threat. Their live coverage. Kcpq is reporting that as many as six people have been shot, and a reporting that the shooter has killed himself it comes directly from Law Enforcement to local reporters on the scene. This is how this works. If you are a reporter and going to a school or any sort of screen, theres one side and another side. Some might find a Police Officer that will give you facts, and some might not. It soupdz like some reporters were with the officers as they said theres no more danger. The shooter has killed himself. Thats the latest that we have from a number of different reporters on the ground. The breaking news details are often wrong. What witnesses see in the early going is sometimes just not what really happened. Its a phenomenon that people studied and tried to figure out. Three different people can watch something under a cloud of great, great stress, and unknown situations unknown to you previously in life, you have been to that school, for instance. If you are a teacher maybe for 10 or 15 years. If are you a student, certainly for two or three years. If you have not seen anybody with a gun before, and that distorts your ability to taking in information and disseminating it. Thats why you get so many different kinds of reports here. The end of it will come, and we will learn eventually what happened here. The good news is theyve been able to transport is my understanding you can see a number of kids being lined up here at the buses. This is just off campus there in marysville, washington, which is a seattle suburb. Kids if history says anything, theyll all be searched. That Standard Operating Procedure that i think national Police Departments across the country started implementing at pearl high school, mississippi. A young man named luke woodham who created great havoc there and ended lives on that campus, and after that they started working together protocols for student for schools across the nation as they did after the tragedy at Columbine High School where Eric Harrison and Dillon Klebold went on the shooting spree there. The sort of motus operandi to get every student searched before they are allowed to leaf the school. It just gives everybody a sort of peace of mind. Fox news channel are working their way there. In the meantime, lets listen to kcpq, fox 13 news for the seattle area. He just sent us this from the news. The student originally taken to providence, left providence for Harbor View Trauma Center which could be a bit of a concern. Harbor view, that is our largest Trauma Center in the area. Thats a little concerning. Again, we want to be clear, we dont know the extent of these injuries. The nosh times reports that no students were airlifted to harbor view. That is what the times has reported, and also a student who is the suspected gunman here. Apparently is dead of a selfinflicted gunshot wound. Again, we have reports now that as many as six victims may be involved here. We dont know if that includes the shooter or not. As you mentioned, one student or one victim, it appears, has been taken to harbor view after originally being taken to providence medical center. Thats significant because every region in the country patients that dont have lifethreatening injuries or serious injuries that require immediate surgery go to the closest hospital to wherever their event was. If you are further evaluated to have problems for serious than thought, you will be taken to one of the regional Trauma Centers. Thats whats happened for one of the students at this high school in marysville, washington. Marysville, population about 62,000. The school has been around for a long time, and according to the reporting of the Seattle Times newspaper and their reporter matt cramer, a gunman believed to have opened fire at this Marysville Pilchuk High School is dead of a selfinflicted gunshot wound. According to two Law Enforcement sources again. Speaking to matt cramer of the Seattle Times newspaper. Continuing to read police have not released details, but there are reports of as many as, well, the Seattle Times is now reporting seven other people shot, so the gunman has killed himself, and what we have is six people, so its six or seven at this point. We dont know names or ages or if theyre students or faculty or workers. We just dont know yet. We will soon enough. As you have been seeing, the ambulances have been staging around the building, and now students are getting on buses there to make their way home for the day after what has been, man, just an awful one for so many of them. Police, according to the reporting at the Seattle Times, are searching room to room in this school with guns drawn leaving tape to mark the doors of rooms that have been cleared. Law enforcement authorities do this out of an abundance of caution whenever theres this sort of incident in a large building. Especially in a school. You want to make sure, positively sure, that the shooter didnt have some sort of accomplice. A way to do that is to go door to door and room to room and make sure theres no one in hiding with a weapon or whatever. Some students were being evacuated from the school, as you saw. Some taken away on buses. Many of them were being taken on the buses to a nearby church. The thing is theyre not allowing parents in to pick up their for kids that dont ride the bus on a regular basis, theyre not allowing parents in to pick up their kids because they obviously have this active crime scene there. Theyre bugs the kids to a nearby church and from that Church Parents will be able to pick up. If you are in the seattle area, check your local media for the locations for that. As you can see, this is a big and sprawling school. A large campus. I dont know the population of this school itself, but i know that the shooting was reported 10 45 Pacific Daylight Time this morning. About 1 45 eastern time this afternoon. Right now theyre just working to get the kids who are safe out of there to make sure that there is no one who would cause trouble in there. The gunman himself, according to police, has shot and killed himself and a number of other students. We cant be sure of the number at this point because all of different reports are different, and part of the reason for that may be that some Law Enforcement officers are aware of some and not of others. As you can see, you can see how big the school is, and just the communication process in the early going here about less than an hour after the shooting was first reported to Law Enforcement officials, it will be a difficult thing to do. Lets listen in to kcpq. Theyve got a little bit of new information here. Anything except for making sure the school is safe, making sure the other students are okay, and then a separate team will start looking into the possible motivations and what started all of this. Thats crucial because it can be it can help stop these kinds of things in the future. It is t has just become way too common. You hear it. You just 18 minutes before the hour. For people who may just be joining us, were looking live at a Marysville High School in the town of marysville, which is 35, 40 miles north of the city of seattle. Its the third most populous county in washington. This is a large high school. About 3,000 students enrolled, and on a friday afternoon i should say friday morning, before lunchtime in the School Cafeteria from the best of the reporting that weve been able to pull together over the last few minutes, it appears that a gunman we dont know if this gunman was a student, someone from outside the building. We dont know anything about this gunman just yet except that authorities confirm he shot and killed himself after firing off a number of rounds in the cafeteria. Reports vary on how many students have been shot. They vary anywhere betw and eight total. We should hear from police in washington and marysville city police in due course. We can say that a lot more people are gathering out front now. You can see this Marysville Prichard sign in the front, this is the front entrance here, and all the police cars are stationed around and about, and students still milling about as we lose the feed temporarily from komo television. On juror screen now, you can see a number of them are still staged out in open fields, and were told that all of the kids will be taken to either their regular stops back along their bus routes as they normally would be or taken to this church and theyre making special provisions for students with special needs, and if you are local in that area, you can go there. The long and short of it is, theres a lot to sort out today. Who is this person . The police may know by now, and we expect well hear something pretty soon. Further, what is the extent of the injuries to these children . Our folks on the news deck are working the local hospitals to see if we can get any information, but as you probably know, medical information is a prized thing, and you have to have permission to give it out outside of general numbers with conditions of people in general, but once you get to specific names, that sort of information is privileged. Were hoping to know soon. Were hoping there were no lifethreatening injuries. We did get a concerning word that one of the students who had been shot was taken from a Regional Hospital to a Trauma Center, and that normally means that some further work was necessary, and injuries were worse than first feared. There are great stats on the regional Trauma Centers that was brought to my attention about a week ago. If you can get a patient alive to a Trauma Center, still alive and still breathing, the chances of that patient getting out of there alive are very, very high. Somewhere north of 85 . According to the statistics which i saw recently, and that tells you all you need to know about how advanced these Trauma Centers are and the work they can do is absolutely extraordinary. Lets go to todd gelving, the editor of the newspaper in the county and marysville. Todd, what do you know . Is todd on the line with us . Okay. Were working to establish. He will be talking to us about what he is seeing on the ground. Todd, the editor todd, tell us what you are seeing. I see the parents coming in from everywhere trying to get to their students. Theyre being told that they have to wait, and they have to go to another scene. They are moving the students off two buses at a time right now. About 100 students at a time to separate locations. Theyre still clearing the building. Todd, can you give us a sense of the mood there . By the time we saw the first pictures coming from local media outside the building, they seemed extremely calm, but i read that in the early going, it wasnt like that. Well, because early going they didnt really understand what was going on. There was several teachers that were outside the building that thought they heard something going on. They moved their students off the field, but, no, its a lot of pandemonium, basically. They brought in theyre still streaming police cars in here. And at that school my understanding is there were 3,000 kids in there. Have they been able to get everybody out . Are they sure yet that they have that this scene is cleared and that theres no more danger to anyone . Theyre absolutely not sure that its clear. They have not taken everybody out of the building. Theyve got a situation where they are giving a code to the teachers because theyre all barricaded in their room. The teachers are to knock twice on the wall to indicate that its clear, and they can open the door, and bring their students out. Its my understanding according to ian deitri deitrickwilliams that theyre on their way to marysville to offer assistance. Have you been given anything . Are you have you been given anything to suggest that there can be someone else in there . Its not as if they saw two shooters, did they . No. It isnt that they saw two shooters, but its just protocol that they acted as if theres another one. Have students said anything . Say again. Have students said anything about their observations . Well, we have not been able to get to students because theyre keeping them away from everybody, including their parents. In the early going, thats probably a smart thing to do. Todd, if you get anything else we should know, todd . I just want everybody to know that Police Responded from everywhere, so when this first initially came across the air, it was as if they dropped everything and went there. Wow. Thats not surprising at all. Todd elvig, the editor of the newspaper there in washington. Marysville is in their county. Police run across the court with regards there at this sprawling high school. Probably as stunned and shocked as everyone else in the community. On a quiet friday afternoon in the fall, or friday morning in the fall there, inside the School Cafeteria, where people have gone each and every day, and now we have somebody being load odd to a life flight helicopter. These pictures courtesy of kwoem yes television. Apparently my guess is im just actually i know it is now. That h means its a hospital landing pad. This is the Regional Medical center. We had been given word that one student who had been at a Regional Hospital. We take them to the medical center. Theres no one on that stretcher. Thats just equipment being taken there. I dont know what this means exactly. There was no need to transfer anyone by air flight. Or that theyve complete that at this point. Some tape being shown on the righthand side of union screen as they were gathering there in the softball and baseball fields of the high school there. A lot to sort through, and i know that authorities are going to make themselves available as soon as they can. Lets listen in. Kcbq, fox 13, for the seattle area. 60 kids inside that cafeteria. A lot of people were scattering at that time and causes a lot of confusion. Were getting more reports about some of the students that have been very, very frightened at the time inside the school. As you can imagine. Trying to reconnect with their parents at this point. Hopefully they can get to safer ground as all right. Brian, thank you. And again, that reunion location that brian just mentioned, i just want to keep reiterating this in case youre just tuning in, 51st and grove to meet with parents, students are being bus thread to get them out of harms way right now. To be real specific on that location, the Marysville Pilchuck students being relocated to the Community Church at the corner of 116th 116th and 51st. So the buses are taking students to that location, and parents are there waiting in to pick up their children, and so that will be the situation with that. But as brian mentioned a moment ago, what we now understand is that three people are dead and as many as six injured and we do not know at this point if honestly, we at Fox News Channel hoped to hold off. Theyre doing exactly right. Their reporters got the information and theyre going with it but we were hoping to wait for the Snohomish County police but i can guarantee you they wouldnt report that if it wasnt sure. Some children have been shot and killed. We know from multiple reports one child arrived with a gunshot wound to the head and other students with gunshot wounds in their bodies. Sounds as if there was one shooter and that shooter started firing off wildly. Were getting numerous reports from kids. Though they have done a spectacular job of keeping the kid away from the media, which god knowses the right thing to do. Theyve been through enough. But some of this reporting did get out. You might imagine kids tweet or send out informationbut sounds like what we first had hoped might be something that wasnt going to be very significant, then we learned instead that the gunman had killed himself, according to police. The gunman is dead. 0 and you were getting reports, including from kcpq, fox 13 news for the seattle area, that at least three students are dead today at the hands of a gunman. Now, we dont know anything at this point about the gunman there has been no tweets or social, nothing from the police, nothing from teachers to tell us anything. We believe the shooter is a male from the way theyve been describing this person. The gunman killed himself and thats the only reason we say it. Beyond that we dont know if this is adult male, a student, we have no information about it, and to begin to speculate on that would be flat wrong and were not going to do it. But we know that police are acting as if this is an active situation. The reason theyll do that is they want to clear every single room in the school to make sure there is nobody else, and once theyve done that, then theyll be able to give us some information. This, i believe, is tape but im not sure. This is tape from a short time ago. As kids were, frankly, you can see for yourself, just running out of there my understanding, im hearing 60 to 70 students were inside the cafeteria when the shooting began, and you can only imagine how terrifying that must have been. Nieminen of a certain age hears of a shooting in a high School Cafeteria your mind goes to one thing. Mine does. Thats the horror of Columbine High School when two kids went inside the school with a plan to blow up the whole place. Their designs were on killing many hundreds of people. And thankfully, Dylan Klebold and eric harris were able to create havoc and change that town and that school forever. They were not able to carry out their mission. On this day we do not know anything about the shooter except the shooter at this hour is reported by police to be dead. Kcpq fox 13 with new information. A lot of parents waiting around there hoping for answers, waiting for answer, waiting for word their teenagers are safe there. Looks like some Police Officials and deputies on scene. We also have david rose back on the phone. David, have you i know were kind of working as we learn more and more here, and trying to sift through some of these details. Everything changed so quickly. Have you learned anything else right you . I can tell you a couple things that are happening. Youll see federal officials, like the atf will come on with a bomb dog. To go through the area, and youll see a lot of fbi agents. A huge federal response these days when you have other School Shooting. The reason the bomb dog comes on, they make sure there are no hidden ieds, or Something Else that the shooter intended to cause harm later, and so theyre going to take very careful consideration of every hidden place that could be, go through that make sure theres no leftover threat, and continue to look for evidence. So, in this kind of situation you have two Different Things going on. Bifurcated investigation. One team who is going through and starting to make sure everybody is safe, get the kids out, help the wounded, and then another that starts the investigation into this. Gathering evidence, preserving the scene. Very chaotic in the beginning so you have shell casings and things that will later come into play. If the shooter is dead, selfinflected wound, that is less important because there wont be some court trial down the road. But theyre going to want to try to figure out exactly what happened and the evidence will help tell them that. Also, i know that you had mentioned this is a situation where the feds get involved, and i know you mentioned the fbi. I just want to clear that up a little bit. Do we know if the fbi is actually on scene or are we just assuming they will be involved at some point . I talked to a Law Enforcement official that is on the scene right now and he told me that the fbi agents are on the scene. We saw that. We saw that at the spu shooting four months ago. They were there are very, very quickly. Always a federal response, and its usually to provide resources because the feds have great resources and experts when it comes to things like this. A lot of research that goes into and it they can help the local agencies deal with that. And so you do have a federal response, and, yes, the fbi im told by my Law Enforcement source, is on the scene at the school. We had also heard our producers were saying they heard police were still searching the school with guns drawn. Have you heard anything more . That would be standard procedure. They go through the school and look for any second shooter, somebody hidingsomebody looking to jump out and ambush anybody. So thats not unusual for them to do that they would absolutely be prepared for a threat, guns drawn. Just means they want to have quick action in case there are some other person in there intending to cause harm. So i dont know for a fact that is happening, but that is what standard procedure would be. A lot of times they get a shield out and have officers walk behind the wildfire with the shield as they behind the of with the shield and then they are armed with handguns or shotgun or a rifle. We are seeing no indication that there were more than one shooters shooter or shooters involved in this incident here. This appears from the reports were seeing at this point this was a lone gunman, who opened fire, apparently near the cafeteria of Marysville Pilchuck high school today, and this happened 10 45, so a little over an hour ago. The latest report we have seen, possibly six victims, and we have seen reports of three People Killed in this shooting inside the high school in marysville. It seems kind of obvious, at this point, but all afterschool activities have been cancelled. Not just for Marysville Pilchuck but the entire district. So all afterschool Activities Cancelled today, and that would include, i assume, Football Games and t like. All right. Also here this morning here, as brian mentioned, we are awaiting to hear more from what sounds like the snohomish sheriffs office. Theyre setting up a media staging area and were expecting to hear more at a press conference. Sounds like, bill, youre getting little more information here. Just about well, m. J. Just she was telling me some information. Give me some background on the Marysville Pilchuck football team. They have an away game tonight at oak harbor but all activities are cancelled tonight for the district. Continuing coverage of what has turn out to be a tragic situation just north of seattle, washington. About a 45minute drive north of there. Marysville pilchuck high school. Where this morning 10 45 local time a lone gunman was in or near the cafeteria, and began firing off a number of shots. The reports are varied and ill get into the details in a second. Reports are varied from different media organizations. So we are leery to take any of it with too much certainty. Our own dan springer, who is a washingtonbased correspondent will be on scene for us momentarily.
