If you have been watching us over the past few weeks, you know that we have established beyond any that most intelligence and military experts in the u. S. A. Believe the Terror Threat from muslim fanatics is getting worse. Also, that the Obama Administration does not have an effective strategy to deal with the situation. Yesterday on capitol hill, Michael Stein balk a bic shot in the fbis Counter Terrorism division was asked about isis. So the message im getting from you here today is that you feel like we have got that under control or doing the best we can . We dont have it under control. Absolutely we are doing the best we can if i were to say that we had it under control, then i would say that i knew of every single individual traveling, i dont, and i dont know every person there and i dont know everyone coming back. Its not even close to being under control. According to our information, that is true. The isis terror killers now control thousands of square miles in syria and iraq have now expanded into libya and egypt. And their assassins freely travel all over the world. So it is just a matter of time until they show up here. Now, to be fair no president , no president can protect this country with a 100 certainty. Its impossible. But for nearly a year, president obama has dithered and evaded the growing threat from isis. However now, after executing four americans and setting a jordanian pilot on fire, Critical Mass has been reached. That kind of personal violence puts pressure on barack obama to do something. And a new fox news poll demonstrates that pressure. When asked does the Obama Administration have a Clear Strategy for defeating isis, just 19 of registered voters say yes an astounding 73 say no. When asked is the federal government reducing the threat of terrorism from islamic extremists 67 americans say the feds are not doing a good job in that. However, when asked do you approve or disapprove of president obamas policy on terrorism, 42 actually approve, 53 disapprove. That makes no sense. But heres why the answer was put forth. There are a number of americans who simply will not say anything negative about president obama himself. So when his name, not the Obama Administration, but his name appears in a poll question, the results are skewed. Most folks understand islamic terrorism is not being dealt with aggressively right now. They know the president is hesitant to even define the threat. Yet, they retain an emotional bond with barack obama. So thats what you are seeing there. Finally, talking points believes that president obama is gambling with his own legacy. If the u. S. A. Sustains another terror attack by muslims, his entire president ial profile will be ruined. Do you think barack obama even understands that . Im not sure. And thats the memo. Now, for the top story tonight, reaction, joining from us boynton beach, florida. Doctor from defense of democracies. Simon rosenberg president of ndn a central left think tank. Where am i going wrong here mr. Rosenberg. First of all, i dont think the president dirterred we have had thousands of air strikes. Thousands of american troops in iraq. A coalition of 60 countries working together to go after and degrade isis as the president says. And now what he is going to do, he is going to do bill what you want. He is going to do more. What he is doing now is asked congress to join him to show the resolve the president of the United States is together with our congress unified towards a new strategy that will carry us forward for the next three years. I dont even think i dont think thats going to pass. Let me just challenge a couple of your remarks. You say the president has not dirterred okay . How does a Terror Organization Congress Core thousands of miles of territory in two nations, syria and iraq unopposed . How does that happen . If you are not nothing now after they are conquering, after occupying mosul and towns after executing thousands of civilians, raping women, abusing little girls, yes, then finally he said we will use air power. But on his watch and im sure you know this, mr. Rosenberg, on his watch isis was allowed to go unchecked for probably seven or eight months. Sovereign nations syria and iraq. I think the president did not want to start a third iraq war and reinvade a country that we have already. Okay. And thats his decision. Thats his decision but when look what has happened by that decision. These were southern nations. In iraq with troops and air strikes every day. And now we are going to show the world that. I want unified United States congress and the president. I hope will be able to pass something together to show common strategy. We are also investigating and have it with charles krauthammer. Its not what would think it is. War act of congress. Lets go to you, mr. My my dilemma here is to find to the American People what should be done, not just a carp on president obama. That gets us nowhere. But when i saw this poll that only, what is it 19 of registered voters, that cuts across everywhere, mr. Rosenburg say that he is doing well in the isis thing. The American People get it but you know who doesnt get it . President obama. Why . Why . One of the reasons why the president determined even before isis came into existence that he wasnt going to go to war with it. He determined upfront he was going to get outside out of old wars and appreciate us to get into new ones he has been let isnt a not only to get back in iraq but to wait in syria, he didnt want to open up new fronts. That has been hindering him from the start. Is he ambivalent about the whole thing. He doesnt want to call it militant islam. He calls it violent extremism. He has an overall approach that is reticent and that is not how you win wars and its ultimately what is bringing him down. I himself believes his strategy is going to defeat isis. Would you concede that . I am not sure that he himself is convinced. Really . Whats what axelrod said, thats what they all say, is he convinced and i dont believe for a second this 60 Nation Coalition is anything other than a paper play. They are not doing anything. But, one more question for you, im going to give you the last word mr. Rosenberg. Isnt it true that president bush may have year reacted by invading iraq in particular, that is giving president obama some cover for underreacting to it . I see think there has been a real debate about this. Of course i think when you look at the way the United States conducted war in iraq undeniable it was a mess. People point to that overreaction. Thats what the president obama uses all day long now bill, if you look at the number of dead, for example in syria by underreacting looking at that 210,000 people that have been killed thus far and the rise of isis through the underreaction of president obama we now come to the conclusion that the American People need to be governed on Foreign Policy from the middle. Thats what we are looking for right now. Thats what i will look for in 2016 to say the least. Last question, mr. Rosenburg. You have this boko haram crew in africa. They are running wild murdering people every single day isis running wild in the two theaters in syria and iraq. You j v. Yemen the marines had to leave all their weapons and get out of there, thats out of control. You have the taliban and al qaeda still operating in theaters all over the place. You cant say that the Obama Administration has an effective antiterror strategy. You cant. I think the most important thing we can do going forward, bill is, that we have got to focus on isis. They are the greatest threat. I think the president is bringing is asking congress to join him and asking the republicans. He is going to the Republican Party and saying this is my plan. What do you want to do . Lets have a debate. Lets do this together. Thats what i think its showing great deference to the republicans. Now, tomorrow, im going to say it again, were going to tell you what exactly the plan is so americans can know whether its good or bad. Two, although the community realizes the problem its become a norm. Its generational. They dont consider it as important a deal, a priority as, you know Michael Brown in ferguson, eric garner on staten island. Its horrifying if what you are saying is true and i cant generalize about the Africanamerican Community. They dont feel thats priority number one that 17 17 . I dont believe so because its a pattern that generation. Facts are theory. We dont have facts to back that up. What do you say, andrea. Uncomfortable conversation. The reason they dont do it because if they fix the problem they would be out of a job. Uncomfortable conversation for whom . I think the media. Why . Why . The media has a hard time. Because, i think its discussed sometimes on africanamerican web sites or black web sites but in traditional media, they dont want to talk about the Inconvenient Truth that you just mentioned. They dont want to go there, bill. They are not comfortable talking about those things. Is it because they have white liberal guilt . Is it because they think that White Privilege has destroyed the Africanamerican Community . A family which is insane because of 19 1960 it was three times better than it is now. It was way more racism back then im really upset by this. I talked to a friend of mine son. All black school. Recently got attacked in the classroom. Black kid attacked him. Principal wouldnt back him up, the usual. I say to him when you have Parent Teacher night, all right, and kids are door poorly he sends notes home please come and talk to me. They dont show up. They dont show up. They dont even come in. Now, this is one School High School brooklyn, new york, you are north going to tell me that doesnt happen. All across the United States in certain neighborhoods. I agree it happens in certain neighborhoods and certainly happens much more in the Africanamerican Community. This is a problem across all communities, bill. It. We have less and less people getting married. More people have three babies with three baby daddies out of wedlock. 60 to 17 . Thats right. Thats why the kids cant compete in the marketplace. Thats why. Its nothing to do with White Privilege or any of that. No, i do think that the privilege and lack of opportunity, education. You cant have opportunity if you dont have education dre . If al sharpton speaks out about it or Jesse Jackson speaks out about it. Blank him. You asked why the media doesnt cover this. One, they would have to expose a lot of policies that have kept the black community down so they dont do it. Also there is a fear if they delve into these issues they will be called racist. Some dont want to talk about this out of fear. They report whats easier because they are lazy and they dont want to do the tough reporting and expose the truth. Let me tell you something leslie is right. It is a problem disproportionately in the black community and affecting the White Community as well. It demeans dads which are pretty darn important in this country and the world. Single motherhood they glorify single motherhood. You talk about this allot. And fastest way to poverty. Hardest job in the world. Quickest way to poverty. Cyclical as leslie said. If girls dont make their men at home man up and be fathers and men dont man up its cyclical. And girls who grow up without fathers, they are not going to hold their men accountable. They keep dating dead beats, its not a black problem or white problem its a human problem. Growing problem in all precincts but its exacerbate on the africanamerican level by dishonesty. By giving excuses for failure when we really all know the problem. Ladies, very good debate. Thank you. We had a back and forth close advisor with David Axelrod on monday. His book believer chronicles how mr. Obama achieved power. What do you think of the chat . Well, you said in the leadin to the interview that axelrod in his book he doesnt criticize the president who is his friend you said axelrod is loyal to the president. You said that the factor thinks loyalty is a good thing. I think i got that right. Lets be clear bill, David Axelrod is loyal to a politician and when one is loyal to a politician, one comes across as David Axelrod did as an apologist for the president of the United States he came off in that interview as so many others who are loyal to the president do as if he is under Barack Obamas spell. I even got the impression watching the interview that if barack obama somehow for some crazy reason did a 180 on some big social issue, and sounded like sean hannity, David Axelrod would hurt his back doing a a pirroret. Let me challenge you. Let me make one more point. Challenge here directly what you say. In his book, he says that barack obama wouldnt come out in favor of gay marriage for political reasons. And then when he was reelected he did. That kind of comes into your argument that says that axelrod is not a total phony. Look, this is why he did it wait a second, its your words in the leadin that axelrod doesnt criticize the president. No, he just stated a fact. Now maybe he pointed maybe he pointed that out. How about this . How about this . The president didnt come out for gay marriage because he thought it was not in his political to his political advantage. Right. And frankly, that doesnt speak well for my friend, the president. He wont do that. As far as the interview goes, your questions were sharp and focused, i have no problem with that. Here is where my problem is. I dont find interviews with apologists. Whether they are on the left or the right. I dont find them especially interesting and i certainly dont find them at all enlightening. This is why i felt it was worthy and for this alone al sharpton. At the end of the interview i asked him how, on this earth, a sitting president of the United States can embrace a man who owes millions of dollars to the irs, who has a record of Racial Division that is unparalleled, how on earth and he could not answer it. That alone made it worthy. Thats a good point. Thanks. Sometimes a nonanswer is better than, you know, some crazy apologisttype answer. So we got that on the record. Okay, bob simon, one of your former colleagues at cbs worked on 60 minutes in the later part of his career died in a car accident in new york city. And i have always respected him as a good reporter. Tell me about him as a person. Well, you know, in a week while were focusing a lot of attention on a tv journalist bob simon was the opposite of that he was old school. He was a throw back in the best sense of that word he was simply. This is a lot more than simply, he was a reporter if had you called and said i have some bad news about your colleague, bob simon he was killed in a war zone, he was killed in ukraine or killed in afghanistan, i would have been saddened. But i wouldnt have been shocked. Because he went to so many war zones that i guess i would have figured, you know what . His luck ran out. Is he a brave guy. When i heard he was killed in a car crash on the west side highway that is hard to take. It is. He was a good guy though, right . Personally a good guy . Yeah. We were not friends or pals. We didnt socialize. We were colleagues. And i respected his ability tremendously. So did i. Tremendously. All right bernie, thank you, as always watters on deck.
