Vicious racial politics that is the subject of this evenings talking points memo. In North Carolina the senate race between the democrat incumbent kay hagan and tom his very close and very dirty. A group organized by Senate Majority leader harry reid running this radio ad. Tillis wont fight for us. Instead he made it harder for communities to come to vote by restricting early voting and voter registration. He even led the effort to fight to fight stand your ground laws that caused the shooting death of trayvon martin. In addition, leaflets have been printed saying that senator hagan loses president obama will be impeached. In georgia sir late a flier warning if republicans win there will be more fergusons. The flier shows two black children Holding Signs that say dont shoot. Arkansas leaflets say, quote republicans are targeting our kids, silencing our voices and even trying to impeach our president. Unquote. We looked for similar racial stuff on the republican side but could not find any. So it seems like the race card something played exclusively by democrats in order to stimulate africanamerican voting. Now, there are a number of things wrong with this. First, its morally wrong. You dont take highly charged incidents like fergusonson out of context for any reason. Secondly, the democrats who are doing these things are obviously trying to instill division and hatred. That is not the american way. Each candidate running for office next tuesday should stand on his or her record and vision. We dont need vicious propaganda. And then there is the bigger question why africanamericans believe only one Political Party is looking out for them. 2012 president obama received 93 of the black vote, under standable because he is the first person of color he elected to the oval office. However, the president s policies have not really benefited black americans very much. And the facts are in stone. Six years, black unemployment has dropped less than 2 Percentage Points and is nearly 6 points more than white americans. Black Median Income basically flat on barack obama. Socially, we remain a divided country, not a lot of unity coming about. Now, much of the race Debate Centers on historical atrocities against black and thats what the White Privilege deal is all about. Liberals saying black americans do not have a fair shot because of how they were treated in america for hundreds of years. There is some truth to that. But to use a blanket of White Privilege to cover failure and criminal behavior in the blank precincts is destructive to africanamericans themselves. The truth is if you work hard, if you get educated. If you are an honest person this country offers black people more opportunity than any other country on earth. When is the last time you heard al sharpton say that . Summing up racial politics are abhorrent, and black americans should rebel against them. And thats the memo. Top story tonight. Reaction. The reality is that Neither Party is truly interested, i believe, in the Economic Opportunity and the social mobility of africanamerican voters so you can spin all day long that only othe democrats are guilty of that. The republicans arent doing much better at all. All right. So you say that the Republican Party is apathetic. Dont really care. Dent care. Maybe rand paul. Maybe, that might be true. I think they are more intimidated though than uncaring. I think they are afraid. I think they are afraid of black people. Black folks are they scary . No, no. The white republican power structure is afraid of black americans. They dont know how to treat them. They dont know how to speak to them. They dont know anything about the culture and they dont want to be called racist bigot so they stay away. Just my opinion. Why does that make you scared as opposed to being interested, understanding, embracing. Because they figure its not worth the trouble, the few votes they might siphon off to get involved with it thats how they feel. I know that for a fact. What do you think . You have been critical of the Democratic Party and of president obama. What do you want . What should president obama be doing for africanamericans that he is not doing . The facts you laid out earlier in this regard are true. Africanamericans the data will indicate when this president is out of office have lost ground in every single leading Economic Indicator category. I mean everyone who happens to be black says that all of a sudden we are hating on the president when in fact these are what the numbers would indicate. Whites have lost ground too. Everybody has lost ground. The problem you announced as earlier, bill, its not whether black folk are doing better today than we were 200 years ago. The question is whether or not we are doing better today versus white folk today and thats where you miss the argument on the White Privilege issue. White privilege still exists today because even if you have an ivy league degree. Even if you have job experience, these stories abound every day. You can have all the same credentials i could have, the same credentials bill oreilly and you still get the call back for the job and i dont. But you have a good job. You are talking me . You just said you. You have a good job. I am one individual. Oprah is one individual. Bill cosby is one individual. Barack obama is one individual. You all have good jobs. These numbers are at large that comparison doesnt hold up. And you know it thats why White Privilege exists. When my friends in left town hear the word White Privilege and that we in left town had privilege being raised there. They laugh. They openly laugh at that because it was such a Hard Scrabble existence and the blacks who lived a couple miles away they had a hard existence too. It wasnt a big difference in the 50s and 60s between the two neighborhoods. But, look, theoretically i know what you are talking about. Its not thee rhetorics though, not theoretically. Actually. Politically, socially, economically, the numbers bear out of the fact that if you happen to have less mel alan in your skin the chances are you would do better. The odds are you will do better. It isnt because of White Privilege. Is it because you are smarter work harder . You just asked me, do you want me to answer . Tell me why. The collapse of the black family. Thats the reason. I will tell you. This every Major Corporation in this country has outreached to minorities, they want minorities. Every college has outreached. In new york city here you can go from preschool through your graduate degree and never pay a dime if you are a minority. And i goal back to the fact that it is about the disintegrations of the africanamerican family and the not having supervision on the children that has Holding Black americans back. Go. I wont argue you on that point. Thats the big point. Here is what i will argue you on. There are more white folk in poverty in this country than there are africanamericans. The new poor in this country are the former middle class. These are not my numbers. These are not pbs numbers. One out of two americans, Census Bureau numbers. One out of two americans is either in or near poverty. This aint or black problem. Thats an american catastrophe. Its american problem. There is a reason. Why the reason why there are more whites than blacks in poverty more numbers. Blacks make up 13 of the prop legs there is a commonality between black poverty and white poverty. Do you know what it is . Lack of education. If you are a College Graduate in this country the Unemployment Rate is less than 4 . You have to get educated. And the educational experience. And if you are an inner city school. Right. Where you are sitting in dilapidated classrooms. Why are trapped there. Missing pages . Because republicans and democrats dont care about Economic Opportunity and social mobility for black americans. Thats why. That may be true on the political surface but you are trapped there because your parents did not earn enough money or cannot or will not earn enough money to get you the hell out of there, travis. And republicans in the house and the Senate Continue to fight against a raise in the minimum wage to a living wage that would be one way to address that issue. Not here. Not here. You are not in congress, my friend. You have got a lot of power at fox news but are not passing legislation, bill. I think that people are trapped in the inner city because they are incapable of earning enough money to get out. The reason is they dont have the education. And the reason for that is the collapse of the family unit. We need a president and a congress that makes its number one priority jobs, jobs, jobs, living wage, barack obama didnt do enough on that. Republicans didnt do enough on that. And thats what the conversation has to be about. I want the minimum wage raised so everybody understands to get people off welfare. But a and im going to give tavis another minute here. What the government has to do is let the private sector unleashed so that more jobs will be created. I want to ask you about your book. I think all parents of teenagers who are not themselves stoned will be voting for the republicans. They are dealing with the real consequences and they understand what it means for colorado. But, also, there has just been this dramatic shift that you referenced bill to the left with gun control legislation and i think took a lot of voters by surprise. Actually recall elections there because colorado is a progun state. Because its a royal state. People like to go out there. The tradition of the west is you have to have firearms to protect yourself colorado certainly in the forefront of that. Now, carville, when you look at these races, and you look at colorado. If colorado were to go republican, if, all right, would that signal to you a shift in the mood of the entire country . No. Look, it should be a good republican year. Historically the sixth year of the incumbent party. The governments race is tied. It should be tied. And they might win. And it could be some sort of a backlash. You know, remember, the pot referendum was passed buy the voters. And it still, according to the polling, still would pass if it went again today. I dont see this as being some political earthquake in the making. It may very well win the senate seat. It may very well win the governors race. Its an elections in what should be a really good republican year. The reason the pot deal won in colorado is because a huge money came in to support it. Out of state money. Enormous amount of money to get it on the ballot and Supreme Court it. And the demographics have shifted in colorado as well. Its not the state it used to be when i lived there. Nothing is what it used to be. Things change. I just think its a really interesting platform because there have been unintended consequences of this pot legalization. Lets go to North Carolina. In North Carolina this is another big one. Because if hagin loses, she is popopular in that state or at least was. Then, i say its all over for the democrats, at least for the next two years until the president ial race starts. You say, kate . Well, i think its a huge indicator that it will be incredibly great night for republican ifs kaye hagin goes down particularly given the nasty antitillis campaign that we have been seeing largely funded by outside money that kay haggen claims to be he opposed to. But the dirtiness. I was looking at politico the other day. Every page i turned to was tom tillis will not protect women. This constant mantra. I think one of the things it will tell us is that you referenced the outside money in North Carolina. You think about it, you have a handful of the wealthiest people in this country that are dictating what 350 million americans hear and see on tv and thats wrong. To me, that is not democracy. But as long as the money is coming from people who support you its okay . You know, i i certainly wish that we could have disclosed where people where no matter who gives money that the public knows and follows that. Thats why i support this bill. Carville, why didnt she give the money back when it comes from the outside of the state . Why didnt she give the money back . First of all, i think 250 million in this cycle alone. I have never heard anything negative about it i have opinions about things but the correspondents generally just go come on and say this is what we he know. Was there ever in the past anyone plan banned from coming on the Laura IngrahamRadio Program. At the time cheryl and i worked together at cbs i worked there. Just started in the media she was one of the not few but gaggle of people just very welcome coming very nice. She was just a great person. Got to know her a little bit. Not Close Friends but always admired her work. I had her on occasionally on my radio show to talk about things she was working on. When i saw her do the fast and furious report you have got to come on the show. She he came on the show and the story got even bigger after she was on the radio show with me. And then we wanted her on again because she was doing great followup reporting. This is dream Investigative Reporter. Just remind the folks what ms. As kiss son uncovered. She blew up the fast and furious case which is a sting that the Justice Department had undertaken to try to track gun running into the united states. It involved the cartels and bringing guns in. We allowed guns to be brought into the country but we were going to do it to track them to see where they were going. We lost track of them. Guns going to mexico and track. We edened up with a dead agent one of the guns was found in his hand. Explaining how this happened and how it got she blew it open. Actually discovered this had gone awry and it was just classic investigative reporting shoe. He won an emmy for the story. We dont have a lot of Investigative Reporters out there. I think its really important that we have objective reporters looking into republicans, democrats all of it. The first time she comes on your radio show, you get the story what he she was doing, any contention, did you yell at her or make her feel bad . No, i just literally asked her questions. It was quite a startling story. Im a conservative. This is wild. If this were in the Bush Administration people the media would be swarming. You editorialized . Of course but she did not. Now, maybe cbs felt that you were putting her in an outcome ward position credit size. No, because she was on the show many times before other stories never a problem, bill. This was very odd. This was a big story with potentially big program ramifications she should have gotten promotion not told she couldnt go on certain shows. I havent read the entire book but what her producers were saying to her wasro hey, you know, its not a big story. The audience doesnt really care about it that much. Mr. There is some truth to that i know idealogues and i know people who are very very interested in politics care about fast and furious. But for the general public if you go out now fast and furious a movie with nicholas cage. I would say they have Investigative Reporters, right . Because we bring stories to them that you are right normally whats fast and furious . It could actually be and i think it is in part a massive case of failure and oversight in Justice Department. We have a dead agent. How much more could you get with a dead agent with a gun at the scene that we allowed to be be walked cross the border without supervision. I think its a big story.
