Theory, distraction to affect Robert Muller and his investigation. From republicans accusations this weekend of improper evidence gathering on top of last weeks revelation of bias text message, they are saying the fix is in and the deeps state to take down the president is real. The question remains, will the gop be celebrating its likely passage of a tax bill this week or will it be in full defense mode after President Trump fires Robert Muller. The president himself was asked that question pointblank and heres what he said. No im not. No. So there you have it, or do you . Lets discuss that with our panel. Executive director of the syndicated radio host and fox news contributor, kevin jackson. Also with us as katie and columnist and host ruben. I just think the whole thing is so ridiculous so im putting my piece of editorial in there, but kevin what you think is a real swirl of rumors about the president moving toward firing Robert Muller. He said he wouldnt, but what do you make of it all . Why would he. When someone is kicking their own but, what you want to get the fight . This has been something thats vindicated trump at every turn. When youve allowed the deep state to uncover all of its dirt on its own, what does he need to fire him for . Every time donald trump lets these guys go at it, and by the way, i predicted this a while back. You look at what happened with every piece of information has led to the untenable conclusion that there was no collusion with russia, and if theyre going to turn it on itself, now these guys are investigating themselves more than their investigating trump so why would you make it change. So you think theres no need to fire him just let it go. Thats not what people from d. C. , whats the rumor mill saying. Thats not where people are at. A lot of my republican and conservative friends would agree that trump firing muller would be the absolute worst thing he could do because the narrative is unraveling right now. Youve got. Youve got the collusion narrative. Its falling apart on its own. For trump to turn around and fire him, that gives ammunition to the left and the media and to people who do not like him to say see he is worried about something and trying to push them out of the way so he doesnt have to deal with them. I think he should just let this go, let all of the facts come out because right now its not good for him, but i would say that president does need to be careful in his tweets and what he says about this, dont step in anything that you could avoid by being hot on the tweet trigger. So the narrative about collusion, i completely agree. I was that it was a joke and its completely unraveling. They have shifted onto this obstruction of justice or some other procedural missteps that the president and his team might have made. You think you might be going through that route and therefore there is still something to worry about . We have to wait and see. Theres a lot of stuff we dont know right now and a lot of stuff we probably shouldnt know. I dont think the media knows to neil every tidbit of everything going on because it generally leads to confusion and things that are untrue, facts that may be alternative. Right now i dont think theyve got anything that is concrete. Its exactly the opposite. The procedural problems are on the left because the looking at evidence that was gathered. So ruben, dont you think there is the risk with this for the left . Theyve invested so heavily, they think this is the way they are going to bring down the president and actually whats coming out is not helpfuhelpful to them. Youre exactly right. Katie is right though, you dont want to make bob muller into a martyr or victim. Change the narrative and make him more sympathetic. Hes in a horrible job of managing his investigation. He hasnt kept his people and lined. These embarrassing emails and Text Messages make it clear that some people who are investigating the president were trying to bring him down and saw themselves as protecting america themselves from american democracy from the president. From your point i think its important to keep in mind the long gain here and that the president is much better served by leaving muller where he is and waiting this out because anything weve seen so far is basically obstruction and soandso by the fbi but its not gotten close to trump. The media put these out about firing muller. I gotta tell you, ive watched things pretty carefully, ive never seen the president about that or talk about that. That is so true. And what it is, they want him to do it because think about it,. He stacked the deck against donald trump with all these hillary lovers, anti trump people, and then, i havent heard russia, in ages, its all okay we got a look at peter and the various people who have donated money to the clinton campaign. Its an investigation that is not investigating itself. Just one last word from you because peggy noonan, she is constantly written about this in a way that says whatever happens, the investigation is going on and it has to be done in a way that at the end brings the country together because everyone can agree its fairly conducted. Its too late for that. Is overly optimistic but i love my friend peggy but i think we are so divided in were so divided over trump. Is there anyway this investigation wins the confidence of the whole nation . The real danger to your point, we talk about populism a lot, but those democrats should be looking at ways to bring along populist message, those democrats back from the rustbelt. Go to michigan or ohio, they put all their eggs in the russia basket. If that doesnt bear some sort of success, they are in trouble. We got a quick word on the economics of the tax bill. My take on it is that its not about who wins the argument now as to whether its popular or not popular, its about the actual effect on those kind of people who are really looking to president john to get the economy moving and incomes up. How do you judge this . Will it really do the job for working people . I think it will. It seems like across the board the agreement in the short term is that will absolutely hurt. Long term people are mixed on what it will do but you see the polls i have come out in the confidence of the president S Performance with the economy and its much higher than his Approval Rating because it doesnt have anything to do with what they think of his personality. Has to do with what they think about having more money in their pockets, better life for their family, better jobs and more opportunities coming out of the year that the president has been in charge and i think the tax bill is only going to help that. It might not have every nittygritty thing that Everyone Wants but its better than not and it has the capacity to pass. When they were in power, what happened . Who made the rich richer and the poor for . It widened under the democrat. Two words, we won. They passed obamacare, most of the nation hated it. Youve seen the outcome. At least with trump you have one year under your belt and Consumer Confidence through the roof. Unemployment at an alltime low. What can you look at and go this guy doesnt make it happen. So when he proposes something, at the very least you can say ive got a year of success. Contrast that with obamas first year where he lost 4 million jobs, unemployment through the roof and on and on. Why would you follow that logic . Trump has a proven track record. Believe me, those rustbelt democrats and all the people that supported him, they understand. Add to this, the russia snipe hunt, all these other things, the economy is going to crater when trump becomes president and all the other doomsday. And you watch the dow go up, up, up. We are like the one to punch year. Last word on the tax bill, i think they oversold it. Democrats were so eager to pass something, anything that they pass something even their own base wasnt thrilled i think republicans are under tremendous pressure to deliver something, but i dont take it will deliver the help the middle class need. I think ill wrap that up and sang i think they kind of wrongly resulted. I think actually it will have a really big positive effect on the competitiveness of our companies and economy and the more we invest, the more jobs, not necessarily high wages but thank you very much for all of that. Just before we go to break, i didnt want to ignore what happened this week in alabama with a special election. Here is a steve says all about that. Critics of the president on the left and the right seized on roy moores defeat as a defeat for populism but populism isnt way more. Its not steve bannon, its not even donald trump. Populism is a Peoples Movement based on a set of ideas aimed at the advance of working people and rejecting the elitist ideology of the republicans and democrats that made the rich richer and half the country poor. Populism is pro worker while elitism is pro owner. It populism is profamily and pro democracy. The big issues driving the populist movement were barely debated in the alabama special election. Wage stagnation. Importing cheap labor. The concentration of corporate power. Our economic surrender. Trade deals that hurt american workers. Corruption, political system. The never trumpeters and the perky democrats, are they really going to claim all that was on the ballot and rejected last tuesday . Of course not. Everyone knows roy moore had nothing to do with populism and neither does the alabama result. What matters now for 2018 and 2020 and years after that is building that positive pro worker policy agenda and getting it implemented at every level of government. That is the next revolution. Coming up, last weeks swamp watch took on the ethanol industry and showed how the gas in your car is fueling the d. C. Swamp. We got a ton of response. Some praising our report and others not so much. Join me later for a heated debate. After the break a chicago politician goes to the United Nations for help controlling the citys outofcontrol violence. Details next. President trump on friday asked what a lot of us are asking, what the hell is going on in chicago. Its getting so bad that one of the county commissioners is asking United Nations to come to chicago and help calm the violence. Im hoping to appeal to the un to actually come to chicago to meet with victims of violence and maybe even possibly help out in terms of peacekeeping efforts. I think it is so critical for us to make sure these neighborhoods are safe. That will really do the job. He seems unconcerned. Hes taking a shot at present trump by calling his city a trump freezone. Listen. You recently declared Chicago Schools a trump free zone. The whole city . [applause] donald trump is looking through the Rearview Mirror and im not going that way. Honestly, what a joke. I mean really. Unbelievable. There he is prancing around new york talking to elitist audience while all this is going on. Its just ridiculous. They say nothing is foolproof for us sufficiently proven fool. He has a city more dangerous than war zones and he wants to bring in a group whose charter is to bring world peace and there are more wars going on right now in the world than ever before. The un hasnt been successful in putting any wars out. Go count them. Youve got darth for in syria, i could go on and name them to the show ended. He wants to bring these guys in. Whats funny is the same guy that said Gang Violence when a kid got killed, 9yearold blacks kid got killed, he said dont bother the kids, take it to the alley. He didnt even want to solve the problem. He told gang bangers take your crime to the alley because thats what he thanks about the blacks. As long as that crime is isolated in neighborhoods of color, he doesnt have to worry about it. When it comes to the miracle mile then hell be concerned. This is really at the heart of it. Leslie marshall, i saw her talk about this this week on another show on fox and she made the perfectly valid point that under lying the violence are really social problems. Youve got the family breakdown and poor policing and housing but hang on a second, they didnt just come out of thin air, thats the result of that policy and bad government. So why are they dealing with those underlying issues in any of these. Because those are a lot more difficult, they take a lot more time to fix them harder to quantify whereas you can just say more gun laws, throw some more money at it, see we are helping, but youre not actually doing anything, youre not tackling education, encouraging a good family unit , encouraging to have the father present in the home. Theyre not doing it that further just throwing money at it and im sorry, that statement was asinine to come out and say this is a trump free zone . How can you say that you care about your city when youre just pandering to liberals. Its embarrassing and he should be ashamed of himself. Can you point to any examples with some of those underlying problems . You think that the serious point of the discussion. Chicago is the worst its been by some of these underlying problems, the family breakdown in education, can you think of any examples whether being addressed. Now its been this horrible endless debate and they say its all about poverty and Education Opportunities and jobs versus values. If the weather talk about parents in general, white parents, black parents, and little green parents on mars, parents have a responsibility to raise the children correctly. I was struck by what Denzel Washington said it was a very commonsense message thing it breaks down in the home than the streets will raise your kids and the jails will become the home and rather than have that conversation would rather talk about the un and poverty and jobs and the like because the first conversation is way too messy. One thing, just to be fair that i liked about president obama on all this is he sort of tiptoed in it with an issue of my brothers keeper. What happened with that. Like everything else. Its all talk. If you really solve the problems, you get rid of the money. Theres lot of money that goes into the socalled problems and the solving of them, but look, how long have we been talking about this. Hes been the mayor for that city for a long time in the violence in general, with all the gun laws, it doesnt matter what laws you pass and the criminals are going to be criminals if they have opportunity. The economic approach would look at true empowerment zones and put them near black neighborhoods. You mean business startup. Economic empowerment. Look, blacks are forced, were not bad people, we dont have a propensity for violence any more than anybody else but you put us in those circumstances and thats what will happen. If you can give me an opportunity to get out of those circumstances, i will do it. All the policies and every one of these major cities, chicago is just one example. Everyone from chicago, cleveland, baltimore, st. Louis is all the same. Im sorry, were out of time on this. Ill give you extra time on china. Coming up, they talk about her new book and the amazing journey she is supporting that helping the families of hero veterans. Dont go away i am totally blind. And non24 can make me show up too early. They didnt know my daddy. I said no, they didnt know your daddy, but they love this country and they love the sacrifice that you have made and that your dad made for this country to keep us free. Hes so grateful to people who dont know us to allow us to benefit from their generosity with me now, how exciting is this, its a sunday evening and here she is from fox and friends in the morning and shes also the author of through your eyes. Just before we talk about the book, i wanted to ask you how you connected with this fantastic organization. Whats the story behind that. Steve, you know our senior producer gavin who works on fox and friends and has for a long time and is a good friend of mine, we were just looking at all of these different charities because i knew i wanted to give back. I grew up in a family where you type on your paycheck and i wanted to ties on any money i was going to bring home from these books. Sorry talking to gavin about it and he said angel, this is a charity that honors children that recognizes children of Fallen Soldiers and it helps our military families. You hear stories like that lady and ive met so many kids from South Carolina that the proceeds from my book have helped send college, and you hear their stories and you think this is the Perfect Match because my dad served 22 years, 20 years in the army reserve and my grandfather fought in world war ii and you meet dan really who you see here when i presented the 50000 ill check to him, he started this organization and to his credit, he served our country and was coming back from the second tour in iraq and he was on a plane and the pilot came over the loudspeaker and said please stain your seats because we are about to take the body of someone who didnt make it home and fought for our country and he watched out of the window on the tarmac and they wheeled this flag draped casket over to this little boy and his mom and he thought who will teach him to play baseball and teach them right from wrong and who will pay for his college. He said im gonna do that and he started doing that and hes raised millions of dollars to send children to college. Children who dont have their parents. You hear their stories and so touching. We have to do something for the them. At such a good cause, but honestly, the book, this book and the one last year, take heart my child which i really loved as well, they were good in their own right. I read them with my two boys and theres something magical about these book. The incredible inspiration and their quiet and still when you read to them. Tell us how you feel about this incredible success youve had with as an author with these magical book. Thank you. You just saw a picture of a baby and thats my daughter in my kitchen. That was the first time she got her hands on the book. I wrote the first book, theres my little girl, shes two years old. The first book was about these little notes my dad would leave next to our serial whole. I incorporated all of those into this lullaby and they were all the messages that i wanted to pass on to her and it turns out the book was wildly successful and we made it too number one on the new york bestseller list and we were printing it in different languages in Different Countries and i thought we are a family from South Carolina and my dad messages are in the hands of kids all over the world and how cool is that. This book called through your eyes, we talk about the fbi, we talk about russia, we talk about the Harvey Weinstein every single morning on fox and friends and on your show, and then we walked outside and we see all these Christmas Lights and we see the Christmas Trees and the carolers and we go to the parties were wrapping gifts and we have a week left and were all on this deadline, but we have to take a moment to slow down and realize you have to walk through life and look at it through your childs eyes and appreciate all the things that we forget. I dont want people to miss christmas, i dont want people to miss watching the kids grow up. Were so stressed and busy, but just take a moment to stop and smell the roses and breathe a little bit and thats what this book is about. I so agree with that message and this book really helps with that. Honestly, i would say to anyone watching, if theres any child in your life whether its your kids your grandchildren or nieces and nephews, theyve got to get these books. Angie, tell us where people can get a hold of them. What should they do right now to get these books. Thank you so much but i have a website, you can also go on any of these sites of your local bookstores, support your local bookstore. Amazon is a great place too, barnes noble, theyve all been great to me. Its called through your eyes and i hope you pick up a copy and give it too someone for christmas or for a baby shower or a lot of grandparents are buying it or even if you have a kid going to College Next Year end you want to give them something for christmas to say i love you. Its great opportunity to do just that. Angie, we love you. Thank you so much. Ill see you soon. Merry christmas. Coming up, last week swamp watch got a huge reaction and not all of it was positive. Last week we had massive response from our Statement Last week. The federal Government ForcesEnergy Companies to produce a certain amount of ethanol every year. They call it the renewable fuel standard. If they were being honest they would call it helping the environment. Ethanol is just one other example. Guess who gets thousands of dollars in donation from pro Ethanol Companies and interest groups. Step forward joni ernst. How dare she use hardworking farmers in iowa to cover up her corruption. If you want a textbook example of how the system is rigged to favor the big and powerful, this is it. Since that segment aired, we received tweets and contacted by the office of senator ernst herself. Heres what we said in swamp watch. It hurts consumers by raising prices on the gasoline and the groceries. Number two, it hurts small refiners who do not have the infrastructure to mix ethanol and have to pay large refiners to do it for them. Number three, its not as environmentally friendly as they claim and it only continues to exist because the companies and organizations that make money off ethanol by the support that key politicians are spending millions of dollars lobbying to keep the regulation and play spread many pointed out the Big Oil Companies spend even more money on lobbying against ethanol and that is absolutely right. You can be sure that we will be doing a swamp watch on big oil in the new year. But tonight, as a followup to last week swamp watch, i want to discuss this topic with kevin from the National Corn growers association. Kevin we appreciate you being here. Thank you so much for joining me. I just want to ask a basic question that i think our viewers will be interested in which is, ive heard so many arguments from you and those who support this regime around ethanol that it is so positive in various ways. If its a positive, why does it need so much Government Support . Steve, the market is not competitively fair when you talk about ethanol and biodiesel and all the Renewable Fuels that are relatively new compared to gasoline and oil has been around for decades and decades , 103 years worth of subsidies that theyve got going back, and so, were not talking about apples to apples. Theres Young Industries and Old Industries that are still getting tax subsidies. I completely agree with you about subsidies elsewhere in the energy sector. We did a swamp watch very early on in the life of the show on a range of subsidies, the green energy company. I completely agree about that, but two wrongs dont make a right. Why does the ethanol industry need to be propped up . Its not direct subsidies, i agree with you there, but its all these regulations that require, and it sustains the market. It couldnt survive on its own. Currently theres no tax credits that are out there for any biofuels whatsoever. If you look at the other ones going back, they stay in place for a number of years, but biofuels in general and ethanol, theyd stand alone, they would do well on themselves, but ill tell you what, theyre still young and they need support. Its also not a place only as biofuel standard but its there for the economy. It helps farmers out there who help support products were producing. Were talking about refining and egg processing. Anytime you can add value, if we can add value and process it here, those are good economic drivers. Its created more different choices for cattlemen and hog folks. Theres disputed studies on that but i just want conclude that what should be the focus for all of us, what she would really care about other farmers, small family farmers and those trying to earn a living. Thats what populace is all about. How much of the corn thats growing goes to ethanol . How can we and this reliance on this and ensure a future living for farmers across america, just in iowa but throughout the country. This is certainly helping ensure farmers make a good living. It could be the other ways than doing it through these government regulations. Around 40 goes to ethanol right now, but within that theres a whole lot of corn that comes back. They use c grains going into these other feed uses for catalogs and poultry so is just one of the many tools to help farmers. If you really look at it, we need all kinds of Different Things to help egg products out there. I agree. This is a great tool in the toolbox and its one of the things that we need to continue, we are producing more corn, last year was a record corn crop, the biggest one weve ever had, this year was close and even in tough times, weve been through in ten years of the standard, weve had great crops for a lot of it in one year. Kevin im so sorry to cut your off but we are completely out of time. I do appreciate you coming on and as i say, i think we can totally agree about the importance of the livelihood for farmers but im just not sure this is the right way to do it. But anyway, i appreciate you coming on. I can tell you its helping us here. My christmas. Thats all we have time for. Coming up next, Merry Christmas to you. Thank you. This week google, despite pulling some of its business out of china seven years ago, opened the center devoted to Artificial Intelligence in beijing. Google is the only latest tech giant to open up shop in china. Many are already there fueled by massive funding from the communist regime. Artificial intelligence is one of the ways china hopes to achieve military economic and cultural World Domination. They call it there made in china 2025 plan. On a previous swamp watch, i said American Companies helping the chinese to do this are committing economic treason. I say its well past time that the city on Foreign Investment in the United States, by the way thats the crowd that was involved and they taken tougher line on all of this. There is one congressman who agrees with me, republican robert of North Carolina who introduced a bill to strengthen. He joins me tonight but before i bring in the congressman, i just want point out we did reach out to google to participate in this discussion and they didnt want to do that. And also, my wife was previously a Senior Executive there. Congressman, thank you so much for joining us tonight. Is good be here steve. Think its a much, more importantly, thank you for really pushing on this issue. I do understand that your bill is more about Chinese Companies investing here in america, not so much about our companies doing things over there. Several first of all, i just wanted you to explain what your bill does and perhaps we can talk about the google example but set up what your bill would do. Yes, sir. We are very concerned about Foreign Investments in the United States and particularly in the case of china. President she made it very clear in his economic message and statement for 2015 their interest to acquire Cyber Security related companies as well as Technology Companies so he has made his intent clear to us. Too that end, since 2014, they have acquired 43 some i conductor companies, 20 of which have been in the United States. Chinese investments in the u. S. Since 2010 have gone from around for a half billion dollars to 46 billion last year and they are targeting our military security related technology. These are companies that have a supplychain effect with the department of defense. We will have greater oversight with the committee on Foreign Investments in the u. S. It was established by the present in the mid 1970s. Since that time it hasnt had much in terms of reform so senator cornyn and i have read this bill, similar bills in each house, supported by the secretary who has been a key part of writing this bill, in fact he sent out a tweet this week endorsing it. Chairman of intelligence committee, ms. Feinstein along with congressman and houston chair are also part of this bill. Thats good news. I wanted to ask you to comment on this google story. As i said, its slightly different in that at the company over there, but to come off of it, we all know an Artificial Intelligence center in beijing run by google, Chinese Government are going to be taking all the intellectual property and all the technology from that and using it for their own and dont you think we should be concerned about that . What you think about that . The chinese are very strategic. Based on the young people over to our universities to learn from us and then they go back home. They hear from our best and brightest professors in the area of technology. These are all serious concerns. My focus has been on the acquisition of American Companies like lenovo and others. They were just find a billion dollars for selling technology to north korean ron. I am concerned about Companies Like it because theres no one freeman market over there. Any company who will have an enormous amount of control and influence and oversight by the Chinese Government. Thats right. Its exactly right. As i say, i really appreciate you taking a close look at this and i hope that you can really keep an eye on it in the event because this is a key part of the Chinese Government overall strategy as World Domination practice not just commercial stuff. Its much more serious than that. Everything that deals with our defense systems, our military, all of this Technology Related to china, they are targeting we have to prevent the. Thank you so much but i cannot agree more and appreciate you being with us tonight. Thank you to the congressman. I think what hes doing there is really important. Are you concerned about the way china is flexing its muscles in all these areas that used to be dominated. Yes, and also we should be concerned about china and latin america and other latin american countries. We should be concerned with the glut iran plan, but americans are confused about china because on the one hand our president , President Trump iran against them and hes become very friendly with china because china has three things he likes, power, strength and money. Those are things he respects but on the other hand, you and i another sense, we have a predatory nation thats untrustworthy and its dangerous. Americans have to sort that out. Its a billiondollar trade market. Its not easy to ignore. We are confused about china. We havent made up our mind because theres something we find very attractive and other things we find frightening. You agree. Absolutely. I can guarantee google had originally pulled out of china because they oppress their people, free speech, free liberties, and other going back and i guarantee that china is going to take whatever Artificial Intelligence they come up with and use it to further suppress their people. Anyone who says otherwise is just lying through their teeth. Thank you so much for putting it so correctly. Kevin. Look, i was over in china for a bit of time and know exactly what everybodys talking about. They do steel. I think trump will have an interesting play with them, our economy will be used against china. If you want to get to the u. S. Market you better play more fair. That said, to everybodys point, google is running a big risk, theyve got a Thriving Company and the chinese are looking to get. Exactly right. It will be interesting. I agree.
