45, 39. They became victims. If that is the story of many officers lives. We report it on the show, because we realize the proportion of Media Coverage on such crimes compared to other stories is obviously lacking. When a violent act occurs that fits a narrative, it is amplified to suit the medias need. What need does it serve to report a story of two dead officers . For the rest of the media, very little. So they shrug it off, but fox news wont. Today we are living in an experiment, one conducted by mad social scientist where i media and platforms to stories that manipulate a motion for the sake of clicks. They put a price on region so it by the minute. So that the bravery and hardships of Law Enforcement are ignored in favor of visual content, tied to a narrative. In 2020 ironically the media refuses to clearly see the truth of policing. Instead bushing stories that alarm and divide citizens. This rift is now energizing violent criminals as democrat mayors and other politicians follow the same path deserting law and order and therefore you. And they laugh at those who try to protect themselves. Politicians are scared of the mob. Scared of the media as both sheer mayhem over Police Officers. And if you cheer the police, you are made and unperson by the mob. Go ahead, say blue lives matters and see what happens to you. Even if you have not read orwe orwell, you can live it. Until we decided enough is enough, making you angry or sad, you can decide when enough is enough. So katie, Savannah Chavez is the daughter of one of the slain officers, and she went on twitter and tweeted her sorrow with a hashtag of bluelivesmatter which drew attack and mockery, including a checker who called the hashtag racists. If so she deleted it after warning her own dad. All of this seems like an inevitability in a climate where we paint people who try to protect our safety as the problem. Katie i think thats why the situation is so frustrating, because logic and facts, and morning of Police Officers who have made the sacrifice to try to break out a domestic dispute is somehow racist even though the police and the situation were minorities. This is a consequence of the current situation, the current rhetoric, and people giving into this idea, politicians specifically that it is okay to engage in policy decisions based on this mob mentality of a demand that they are given. Police, we can say all day long go out every single day to fight themselves. And we see it. In the country will come to a point where im enough is enough. It is a scary situation, because we look at the st. Louis couple who dared to defend their private property with firearms when there was a mob on the front lawn are being prosecuted by the far left prosecutor in that town, in that city. So thats a problem. But at some point people are going to have to vote out and make a decision based on this mob mentality and stand up for what is right and the rule of law, because there is no other way to really do it. Greg dana, so far yearoveryear, we saw 600 increase in shootings. 600 , and a 483 percent in shooting victims. But aoc has a theory on why this is the case. And i want to play this and get your response. Do we think that this has to do with the fact that there is record unemployment in the United States right now . Maybe it has to do with the fact that people are not paying their rent and are scared to pay the rent. So they go out and they need to feed their child, and they dont have money, and so you maybe have too they are put in a position where they feel like they either need to shoplift some bread or go hungry that night. Greg so dana, when you hear this, you must think how ironic and bizarre it is said that she is blaming violence on unemployment given her role in creating actual unemployment. Dana yes, we are thinking alike, even in a pandemic. A something might help unemployment might be an Amazon Center that was actually pandemic proof, amazon is doing great in the pandemic. And to the violence that we are talking about is not a mother huddling with a loaf of bread under her coat like jean valjuan in les missouri bowls. To your point about the Media Coverage, the painting of the black lives matter mural, which i dont know why we call it a mural, that got so much media attention, and have you seen bill de blasio anywhere . Talking about any of this . The other thing that i wanted to point out, and the reason why i was really interested in the case in texas, the thing that we heard about a lot about is that some communities think it would be better to send a social worker to Domestic Violence scenes, because you are not calling the way a father, one of the reasons that you have to send an officer is because it is often a place of violence. And you are trying to protect the women and the children that are in harms way. So i think that the social worker thing is not going to work on its own. Greg to danas point with the black lives mural or painting, we have a media that is so focused on symbolism as opposed to the actual reality which is what occurred saturday. Two men were lost and that mural would not save them. Juan i think that they mural represents what the nation saw and a video where a Police Officer was kneeling on a mans neck for nearly 9 minutes in the man died, greg. So i think that people are reacting to that. And i think in General Police have a dangerous job, my condolences go out to those officers who died, their families. But its more stressful when they have this curtain tl Police Officers abusing the public trust in Public Authority and people are dying and people question logically exactly what the police are doing. So at the moment, i think what we are saying is even in a more stressful situation added to the george floyd pressure, because we have the spike in crime, but let me say that the spike in crime is almost solely in black and brown neighborhoods, and low income communities in new york, chicago, i could go on. And what you have to deal with here is the problem of gangs, drug dealers, Domestic Abuse in some cases that leads to the spike in violence in the easy aspect to guns. If we really care about this loss of life, i think we have to deal with the systemic issues, which are on display, everything from the bad schools to the inability for people to get good food, to the poor quality in general of life in those communities that a kid does not even have a chance to succeed or does not feel like that anyway. The culture is terrible, in terms of the music, thats my thing. Black lives matter should be at the forefront of that movement as well. They should be saying dont allow black lives matter to simply be about the police. It should be about how black people treat each other. So i think on all of those levels we have to be honest. This is not a citywide crime spree anywhere, this is something that is happening in our most desperate communities. Greg all right, jesse, juan mentions a lot of variables, but they existed before this massive spike, so clearly Something Else is added on to this that has little to do with those other variables. Jesse we know what that is. And i want to salute juan for saying what he said. I agree with almost everything juan just said. And i would add that a lot of these problems in the cities where you are seeing the carnage, they have been run by democrats for 50 years. And we have been seeing the same thing again and again and again. So maybe if we change the systemic problems, we have to change the person or people that are running that system. In terms of the media, they dont report the news, they just report a narrative, thats why half of the country is angry or unenlightened, they are not getting the truth. Thats why people come to fox to hear the truth. The truth is there is a crime wave going on. New york city homicides are up 20 . Kansas city has had its most deadly year ever. Chicago, deadliest year so far in 25 years. And i can keep naming cities. We had a white mom killed after she said all lives matter in indianapolis. There was a hispanic man that drove his truck and murdered a white guy because he says he hates white people and hates donald trump. He was charged with a hate cri hate crime. There is stuff like this all over the place. I came back to the city the other week down in lower manhattan, there is a whole black lives matter in canton by city hall, you cannot jog near there, you cant walk your dog. You cant run a stroller, it smells worse than san francisco. And they desecrated architectural masterpieces, some of the architecture, some of the buildings in that area, just vandalized with graffiti that says f the pigs or f the cops. Its horrible. So the democrats think they can ride the wave of energy in november and win. I think that its wrong. It is a crime why if that is going to blow up in the face. People are dying. And it will destroy their cities which are their power centers, because everybody is leaving them in tatters. Greg and on that happy note, we have more. Dana brandnew fallout after President Trump commuted the threeyear prison sentence for his former associate roger stone. Top democrats are less than amused. It stands for corruption, but it lets people know that it is a threat to our national security. This is absolutely outrageous that the president of the United States could be so brazen as to commutes and pardon of his friends who are protecting him. To speak of the president through the commutation basically is saying if you live for me, if you cover up for me, if you have my back, then i will make sure that you get a get out of jail free card. Dana and here is President Trump reacting today. They found nothing initially, but it went on for two years or longer, and i did i am getting rave reviews for what i did for roger stone, and he frankly is going to go and appeal his case. He had a jury poor woman who hated roger stone, and who hated probably me. But she went under false pretenses, not given a fair trial. Was not given another trial. Should have been given another trial. Dana jesse, one of the most surprising things about the democrats reaction was that they were surprised. The move was telegraphed from the very beginning. Jesse i just cant get over trumps hair right there. Did anybody notice the size of the hair . Dana that is like with you not wearing a tie. Jesse everybody is changing their look in the pandemic. Honestly, he has been in the gutter for decades, he is not a criminal. He is an old man who likes to talk a lot of trash and got caught up in a frame job, honestly. If a guy plants a gun on you and is a Police Officer and you throw the gun in the river, you cannot be charged with obstruction, it is a dirty investigation. As we know its baseless. There was no collusion. It was a witch hunt, and now the media is mad because witch hunt got exposed. General flynn is going to walk, stone is going to walk. Listen, it is honestly i am tired of looking back at this. We really need to go forward with the democrats getting caught, trying to frame people, and, you know, chelsea manning, got commuted by barack obama. He conspired with wikileaks. Roger stone did not conspire with wikileaks and he is now in trouble. I mean, it seems backwards. Bill clinton, didnt he pardon his brother or his Business Partner . But this is the craziest thing . He pardon the bigger tax chief because his wife gave 1 million to the clinton foundation. Come on a little perspective. Dana i was going to bring up to greg, do you remember the obama commutation of oscar rivera. An actual terrorist, there is not as much outrage. Greg yes, the last person who should be talking about an abuse of power is adam schiff who marshaled the entire impeachment proceeding which crippled our government hearings and media hysteria, while we were screaming and pointing to wuhan saying, there is a huge thing going on here. But everybody was so the media on the democrats were so into impeachment that we did not get an early start fighting the virus, and instead now we are facing larger issues that we have been dealing with because we were too busy trying to unseat the president because we did not like an election. So save me the whining about roger stone. Dana one of the developments that happened and why we will hear more is that Robert Mueller who did the investigation and the prosecut prosecutor, he wrote an oped in the Washington Post that said that the jury spoke, that there is a conviction, now he has maintained that he will not talk about it. He would let his report stand. But now that he has written it, Lindsey Graham from South Carolina says now you have given yourself and invitation to come testify in front of the senate. Do you think that that is good or bad for the democrats . To bring all of the stuff up again . Juan you mean politically, dana . Dana yes. Juan politically it probably is good if you are going to have a review of all that has happened in the past with regard to what took place in terms of the president s campaign and all the contacts with the jesse nothing took place. Juan of course something took place, there are hundreds of contacts and thats why the attorney general, okay, the current attorney general said that the conviction was appropriate and unlawful. And he opposed where the president did. I just think that it is important for people who watch our show to know that this is not some liberal media going ballistic. Do that today you had the conservative National Review to start with the president did in commuting that sentence as indefensible. You have the conservative wall street journal editorial page drawing some of the comparisons but saying when you commute a friend sentence, that is an abuse of power in their opinion. So those are conservative outlets speaking directly to what took place. And i think that you have to understand, even when clinton pardoned marc rich, he did it as he was on his way out. I think that this is a thumb in the eye to the Justice System from a guy that says he is mr. Law and order when it comes to a street criminal, but not to his friend who has clearly, clearly broken the law and has even forced Robert Muellers hand to come out and say, you know, this is wrong. Dana it is an interesting comparison, thumb in the eye, but it was like the thumb in the eye to the entire country. I think. Katie yes, this situation, the president is not denying that roger stone committed a crime, which is why he did a common tatian and not a pardon, but the idea that somehow adam schiff is making the argument that roger stone lied on behalf of the president , lied to cover it up, are we really to believe that the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation hinged on roger stone . The one person who may have had information considering hundreds of subpoenas, thousands of interviews, thousands of documents, millions of dollars, a wideranging team of prosecutors that had access to all kinds of information, we are really to believe from adam schiff that roger stone is the one person who made it all just go away for the president . That is laughable. This is about the principle that if people during the Obama Administration who engaged in corruption, by the way, by using the federal government to go after a Political Campaign can get away with lying like andrew mccabe, for example as a Deputy Director of the fbi, and they dont go to jail for it, then why should roger stone go to jail for it . It is a commutation, not a pardon, but there should not be a double standard based on politics whether you are democrat or republican. Greg hey, dana. Dana yes, sir. Greg do you think that he actually wrote that oped . Jesse no way. Katie i want him to testify. Dana i had not thought about it. I was going to end by saying that roger stone gets exactly what he wants, which is more of us talking about roger stone, and he will be on hannity tonight. Juan there is a Major Political battle brewing over sending children back to school. Comes at several states break records per new daily coronavirus cases. The Trump Administration saying student should return in the fall, but speaker the house nancy pelosi claims President Trump is putting kids at risk. Take a look. To speak of this is appalling. The president and his administration are messing with the health of our children. We all want our children to go back to school. Teachers do, parents do, and children deal, but they must go back safely. Juan dana, what we know is that the l. A. School district, San Diego School districts announced today that there will be no in person schooling as the School Season the School Semester gets going, and new york city and two other big districts say that will be a mix of an inperson and virtual. So the criticism is that the Trump Administration really has no cohesive plan for these to offer these localities for how to make it work. Is that true . Dana well, even if lets say thats true, it does not matter. Because we have local control over our School Districts. Like i think it should be. It is fine for the federal government to have a suggestion and guidelines, maybe have some support, maybe even some help or even incentives additional funding if you are able to do x, y, z. But what you saw are that School Districts are making the decision regardless of what trump or pelosi says, regardless of washington they are talking about to their local School Boards in their local teachers, there is no it is very important to have politics get involved, because it is like math. It doesnt have to be political, we have very Serious Problems for children. Children in wealthier neighborhoods are probably going to be okay. But people that live in a lower income neighborhood, when you are not able to figure out how to take care of your children, but you have to go to work, you cant work from home because he work a service job, all of those things are much more of a local concern than a national concern. And i hope that what we can see is that once the School District start to make a decision, like los angeles, san diego, or even new york, that you would be able to do a certain amount of kids in the classroom if they get to under 5 of cases, it does not really matter what washington is doing, because all of this is happening at the local level. We should support the School Districts and help the children. Thats the most important thing. I do agree on that point. But i think that everyone agrees on that point. We all want kids to be educated. We want them to be safe. We want the teachers to be safe. When the bus drivers to be safe. It is a complex issue and it is not fair for anybody to use a rubber stamp political slogan like the president wants to endanger children, no, he doesnt. That is not true. But he also does not have the ability to have a solution for all of the students across america. Juan so jesse, i know that your dad. Im just thinking to myself, if you send the kids back to school and one kid get sick, then what do you do . He or she is gone for 14 days, the whole School Closes down . How would you handle it . Jesse in my case, my children being with me is probably more dangerous than them being with the teacher. Just because you do not want me homeschooling my children. I was in the car the other day explaining the difference between republicans and democrats, do you really want me doing that to children . I mean, that is just not a really good idea. I dont know a thing about math or science, so im only left with politics. That is basically indoctrinated. I disagree everything with dana was correct, if democrats once gavin newsom and cuomo to have the flexibility to do what they want in their states with the virus, dont you think that they should also have the flexibility to do what they want to do with their School Districts . Or however that may be . I think thats what the president s plan said having 50 governors flexibility. Juan so katie, the president and the education secretary betsy devos said they would cut funds if schools dont open. And i thought, gee, if you really want them to open, should you help them prepare or do something, what do you think . Katie i think that dana is completely correct about the role of the federal government and schools. I would argue that the pandemic has shown that the department of education is less needed than it was before the pandemic. But going back to school in the argument made, what is the definition of safely . I think it is far too broad . There will be risked going back to school just like there are risks to reopening the economy, but that was never the agreement that was made. Of the country cannot function moving forward by just continuing to shut down and not sending kids back to school. On a broader longterm level, we are in competition with the world in terms of education. You dont think that Chinese Students are going back to school . You dont think that european kids are going back to school . We need to compete and generations of kids are put in a position where they will be left behind on the world stage. Thats a problem. Juan so greg, i saw the president wearing a mask for the first time yesterday, and i just thought, and wonder what you think of it, because the critics say you shouldve been wearing it a long time ago, what do you think . Greg better late than never. I have to say a lot of the use a lot of the people, and i would say that nancy pelosi is one of the best examples of the very worst kind of person, a person who is too cowardly to make an actual judgment at the start and then wait and pretend that she is an expert now, i think that if you think about everybody who was wrong, every expert was wrong on closing travel. Every expert vacillated on the mask. A lot of experts lied about the mask because they wanted to reduce demand so that they would have enough of them for the medical personnel come of any at the media, cnn, Washington Post mocking people who were voicing concern early on saying, no, its just like the flu, even though we had no stats on the actual flu, you had mayor de blasio encouraging everyone to live life as normal, go to the parade, thats okay. Then he said, he is saying everybody has to stay home, dont go swimming, unless you are protesting, one of the biggest mass meetings in the history of the world is blm, and go out, that will have nothing to do with the spikes. And then you have Governor Cuomo criticizing after he allowed people to six people into the and what did he do . Him and his brother played within giant inflatable qtip on tv. I will say this about the reboot, its going to be messy because it is new. When something is messy, you make adjustments. I said that there will be adjustments. We have to remind ourselves that this was an amazing victory for america, we flatten the curve. Get on something we never did before in our lives, and we did it together. And thats pretty damn amazing. I refuse to let the armchair quarterbacks come back and screw it all up. Because we did something that we should pat all of ourselves on the back for. Juan okay. Jesse the Washington Redskins dropping their team name after immense corporate pressure, retiring in the name and logo after 87 years. In hopes to have a new name before the start of the season. I dont really care what they call themselves, the eagles will beat them twice and they will finish last in the nfc. Dana all i know is that they have a new quarterback and hopefully the name change wont shake his confidence too much. Maybe he will get to play this season. This is a long time coming. It reminded me of when i was in graduate school, i covered the story in springfield, illinois, champaign, illinois, about chief alina wickett, the fighting online i had been the mascot of the team for so long. That was in 1995 that that was changed, so this movement has taken a long time for the redskins to finally have their moment to basically have to find a new name. My husband said they should have dropped to the washington part, because the washington part was more offensive. But he is joking. Dont cancel him. Jesse juan, i know this is your team, dont you have to get rid of the vikings . I mean, that is an offensive i guess White Privilege or, you know, with long hair, and a helmet on the logo, that is fa fair . Juan next week and go for the giants, come on, jesse. Ive tshirts older than you, jesse, now with holes in them that they Washington Football Team. I think the difference between vikings, giants, the dictionary literally defines this as a slur. And it is a racial slur, and i just think that it is time for change. And i wish that it happened more quickly, i really do. It is just like the Confederate Flag or the confederate monuments have become a point of division rather than civic unity. That is the point is that we should all come together in root for teams. Jesse i understand his point, red skin, people think that that is a racial slur, but hey, the chiefs, it is an arrowhead, so where do you stop . Because now there is a Washington Post that says the Texas Rangers symbolizes White Supremacy and that has to go t too. Katie i think that this is a situation of allowed minority becoming the majority, and the Corporation Getting the results they want. And peter stole my point which is that it does not go far enough, the name is still half offensive at this point. Jesse greg, what do you think . Greg this is something that i saw this as never a hill to die on, Charles Barkley is right, its more symbolism that makes you feel good that there was progress, but it does not help a single person. But the upside is that it also hurts nobody by changing it. No one is going to be, in three months people are going to be they will forget about this and people will be excited over a new name. I saw surveys where native americans were polled, and they did not even care. This was always about the liberal white activists, let me help you. I know better, and so many important things in their lives, they dont have time to think about this stuff. We have time to talk about this, this is what we do for a living, but most people dont sit around arguing about those. In a couple of months we will all move on to Something Else to get mad about. It is a bad name, it is a bad name. So let it go. There you go. Jesse okay, we will let it go, the Washington Football Team. More of the five coming up. We see you. Doing your part by looking out. For all of us. And though you may have lost sight of your own wellbeing, aetna never did. By setting up virtual monitoring for chronic patients, 24hour telemedicine visits, and Mental Health resources for everyone. Were always here to help you focus on your health. Because its always, time for care. Katie welcome back. Its a pretty game for the pandemic, the tipsy jello shot tower is a boozy update to the jingo game, each player has to take a shot and then drunkenly try to keep the thing together. So jesse, i think that you should try to explain the game to us. I think that you would know more about it than anybody else. Jesse i just read about it in my packet before the commercial break, so all i know is that it looks like a really small shot, i would not fill it up with a jello shot, thats for high school students. But i would put some jose cuervo in there. Maybe you can explain it, katie, because it looks complicated. But i will play if you want to, just after the show. Katie i think that jello shots at any age are a bad idea. Dana on my first date with peter in new orleans, i introduced him to jello shots, and i was basically taken them because i was so nervous about being on the date. And i have never done one since. If i played this game i would have to just throw it each time and accidentally knock it over and be knocked out, because i cant hang with the jenga jello shot. Jesse i love her relationship history, she meets her husband on an airplane, the first day she makes jello shots because she is so nervous. Tell me more. Katie she has a great story. Dana by the book, jesse. Katie it is ingenious. Juan i am totally against mixing booze with any kind of food. You might just not be a drinker, it takes all of the fun out of it. Id a friend stopped by my house who probably was not captain and showed up with a champagne belong. A champagne wrong. It made me feel very, very old that there is actually like who needs to drink champagne fast . The whole problem was champagne and is it makes you feel queasy. Jesse i thought you smoked dope out of the champagne bottle, isnt that what a champagne bomb is . Greg i would not know, jesse. Its a tiny little bone. Juan katie, i feel like a child here. I dont think i am qualified to join in. But it will worry me. Jesse stop it, juan. He says he is not qualified. Juan that is true, but i was not doing jello shots. Let me assure you. Now, i like jose cuervo, i can do that. Greg that is the name for the redskins, its called the washington jello shots. Katie all right. One more thing is up next. While they are doing whatever theyre doing on the thing, check out this little guy. There, pushing over there. Then he just heads back to his little fortress. [laughter] there you go. All right, we dont need to see it again, people. Dana, do you have a dog for us to talk about . Dana yes. I thought you were going to show the other dog video from the weekend that was making the rounds. You know the one im talking about. If i have Something Else. Oh, yeah. If okay, so marriage proposals are more creative than others. If some dont go as well as you might have thought. Watch this. [laughter] jesse oh, my goodness, whats going on . Dana he drops the ring into the waterfall. If its not real, greg. Spee greg its not real. I knew it. [laughter] dana so he made it more memorable, but greg, you could spot it a mile away. Greg i tell you, thats a bad sign she should dump him right there the man should not be joking about that stuff and hes going to be bad news. All right, jesse. Jesse i agree with that, greg. Better news, kicking some serious this week at American Century and celebrity off tournament he beat ray romano, doug flutie, carlton, and jerry rice. And he finished birdie birdie. It take a look at this last pu putt. Bret baier, couldnt get it in. Jesse all right with the fist pump intense. Dana yeah, the pants are awesome, good job, bret baier. Greg i think brad has to go home, no news for brett for wearing those pants. Juan i think he had to wear it. That was some serious competition. Greg its like made out of playing cards. We got to go. Special report is up next. Sorry about the pants. Bret thanks. Good evening, welcome to washington. Im bret baier. Breaking tonight, california goes back to a semilockdowns booking markets and how each state governor deals with the coronavirus spikes and we will determine a lot in the coming weeks.
