What i just heard seconds ago from Benjamin Glassman is that this individual, ethan collie, was indeed involved in the purchase of the body armor and these drone type magazines that were used in the specific case given the gunman this capability to fire multiple rounds. These drone type magazines were capable of holding 100 rounds each. The weapon, what we know about this weapon, thus far, is that it was purchased legally over the internet and then ultimately delivered through a retailer in dayton, ohio, and then modified. A fired ar to the same rounds as an ar15. When it was modified and became a rifle, essentially that weapon was an ar15. But what was unique to this case, these drone type magazines that would hold 100 rounds each. What we just heard from the u. S. Attorney is that this individual named ethan collie, was the one who purchased the drum type magazine and purchased the body armor. So the federal investigators got involved, as you know, last week, once the special agent in charge announced or said the evidence showed the gunman in this case was engaged in a specific violent ideology. I mean, normally that is okay and is not terribly atypical in the world of corrections. But not with Jeffrey Epstein. Lets look at the facts. First of all, hes accused of Human Trafficking and Sexual Assault on young girls. Among many other things, he extremely well connected. Hes a billionaire. For predatory inmate to take out the likes of a Jeffrey Epstein, thats a badge of honor. The minute he walked in the door, he was a Security Threat and therefore should have been isolated. Dana can i ask you where he was held. Metropolitan Correctional Center opened in 1975. Security cameras are apparently placed in cells of high profile inmates. Reports are there were none here. This is the jail that held el chapo. Thats where you would place somebody like epstein, who is facing these kinds of charges. The mcc is an administrative facility within the federal bureau of prisons. This is an administrative facility. So therefore it has inmates of all security levels. Its a jail, not a prison. There are many, many good staff that work at this facility. Its a good facility. This is all the more shocking to me that this has occurred. Dana let me ask you this. Theres a statement from the Union President saying that we have been sounding the alarm for years about the hiring increases, the under funding and how under staffed our facilities have been nationwide all because of the policies of this administration. Is that fair . Does this administration doing Something Different . Its fair to a degree in that i do believe the bureau of prisons is short staffed. I live down the road in West Virginia next to United States penitentiary hazel ton. Theyre con stanley short staffed as both federal prisons are. Dana its not easy work. No. Its very, very difficult work. Very difficult work. But i dont want to mince the two issues. Its important to realize there are staffing issues, definitely, in the bureau of prisons, especially in administrative and higher security level penitentiaries. You have got to have a better inmate to staff ratio. That is an issue. But with with this issue with epstein, what i see frankly, its really not an issue of short staffing. Its an issue of making good decisions at the time. So, when epstein had his Suicide Attempt, we believe he had a Suicide Attempt, obviously, he should have been placed on suicide watch. I believe that he was. What that would entail, there would be somebody sitting right outside his lock cell looking through and providing direct and constant supervision. That was the right call. Thats what they should have done. But that call from my humble perspective is they pulled him off suicide watch because i believe he probably charmed or convinced, manipulated a Mental Health staff member that he was no longer a threat to himself.
