This has been extraordinary. Thank you very much. Thank you. [applause] ladies and gentlemen, please remain seated until the president , mrs. Trump and medallists have departed the east room. Youve been watching the president of the United States in the east room of the white house providing several members of our citizens the National Medal of freedom, this is the highest civilian honor a president can bestow. Before me is chris stirewalt. I remember these ceremonies as some of the best days at the white house, to celebrate the accomplishment and dedication that citizens have provided. Interestingly, chris, the Supreme Court was invited today, was including Justice Kavanaugh, the new Supreme Court justice. Just thomas and judge brier are not there and Justice Sotomayor is not there. Justice ginsberg is there. Its his first public appearance since falling. And elvis getting an award. I cant believe it took this long. Elvis was has been overlooked for his musical gifts and his greats abilities because he became a parody of himself. As we get down history, its clear what a monumental talent and worldchanging entertainer elvis was. Babe ruth is very cool. Its nice to see that babe ruth got his due. Not bad for a parents who sent him to an orphanage when he was 7. Thats cool there. And Justice Kavanaugh there. Hes moved out of the picture. Senator orrin hatch getting an awa award. We have mark whitaker, the acting attorney general of the United States. Orrin hatch, your thoughts on him getting the medal of honor. What a career, right . We will miss a great deal, that generation moving on. We will miss it in this congress. Orrin hatch certainly republicans can say as the president mentioned, no one has no living member of congress, no member of congress has sponsored more legislation that became law than orrin hatch. Republicans can be pleased on his record of accomplishment but we can be pleased that orrin hatch valued comedy, valued working with other people, he valued being humane in his work and for all of that, he set a great example that new senators that democrats and republicans can Pay Attention to. Two of the things he did accomplish we see on the screen there. Justice kavanaugh is there with justice gorsuch, the two nomineeing that President Trump were put forward and confirmed to the Supreme Court. A great ceremony all around. Earlier today, President Trump had remarks from the oval office. He was addressing the special counsels russia investigation. The president says he has answered written questions from Robert Mueller but has not submitted them yet. Take listen. My lawyers are not working on it. I write answers. I was asked a series of questions. Ive answered them easily. Very easily. Im sure theyre tricked up. You have to be careful when you answer questions for people that probably have bad intentions. A couple things there. One, hes suggesting that bob mueller has bad intentions. Thats been a theme of his. I dont know if theres evidence of that yet. Theres been a theme. The president has wanted mueller to wrap up this investigation. Its me andered, gone adrift of the original mission. Mueller has been waiting for the answers so he can try to wrap up. If the president does finally send them, could we see an end in sight . I guarantee you that Robert Mueller wants this to be concluded every bit as much if not more so than the president. I dont think hes worried about his reputation. He stands in highest steam in washington. Probably the most revered law man in the business today. Democrats and republicans alike based on his track record at the fbi. So hes not worried about that. What he is worried about is coming up with a conclusion that will be satisfactory. He knows that anything short of declaring the president a traitor will be viewed by democrats as insufficient. He knows that the president is going to try to discredit anything that he finds, especially as it relates to members of his inner circle. That is the testy point for mueller. If mueller has these questions in hand we know the president s lawyers are concerned. Rudy guliani said he was worried some of the questions were a perjury trap. If youre reading the answers and the president is answering them honestly, how can it be a perjury trap . Once mueller has the answers. Once hes in business and can do that, we can reach the terminal phase of this and everybody can get on with it. After an election, a midterm, theres changes. President trump talked about the possible changes today. Listen here. Im very happy with almost all of my cabinet. You know, changes are made because theyre always made, especially after midterms. Two years for cabinet sometimes feels like a good time to move on, especially because theyre heading to a reelection nor the president. That gets pretty intense. So there might be some changes, chris. And also because the republicans have expanded by two seats probably, their senate majority, they can leave in good conscious knowing the president can nominate and confirm a replacement for them. If the republicans had lost seats in the senate, it would be a different matter altogether. But now if you have been wanting to get back to real life, wanting to get away from the grind of this work, you can say i put two years in, nobody can say i didnt and move on knowing that the president will be able to with three seat majority, be able to appoint people in those positions. You can do so with clean conscious. Theres drama with democrats figuring out their leader. Take a listen. Theres nothing that marsha could run for that i wouldnt support her for. Shes qualified. Im not antipelosi. Not at all. I consider the speaker to be talented and remarkable. I closer to marsha though. So earlier today, nancy pelosi and marsha fudge got together. Pelosi said what would it take to win your support . Fudge said she would think about it. You have to love this horse trading. However you i do love it. How you feel about who will be in charge of the house, this is how government and politics work. Nancy pelosi can only afford probably 17 defections. So if the cbc, the Congressional Black Caucus says were out, she has a huge problem. Whether they can make good on that promise and what does marsha fudge want . Does she want something for the cbc or want something for herself . Does she want something for her district . Does she want a vote . Pelosi and she can work that out and figure what its going to take to have you say, on second thought, i want to focus on the interests of the people of cuyahoga county. So all of that, youll have to tune in to find out. Chris, thank you. You bet. An accidental disclosure revealing wikileaks founder Julian Assange could be facing secret federal charges. Catherine herridge is live in washington. So catherine, i used to work at the Justice Department in the communications office. How did we finds out this is happening . In this case field in virginia on august 8, thats where the disclosure was made. A Counter Terrorism researcher at George Washington university was first to stumble across two references to Julian Assange about the need to keep an indictment secret due to the sophistication of the defendant and the publicity, no other procedure is likely to keep confidential the fact that assange has been charged. The proposed order would need to be remain sealed until assange is arrested. He remains in london where hes unable to leave for fear of arrest or extradition. Its not clear about the charges under seal. Wikileaks has been under scrutiny seasons 2010 with 750,000 classified cables and the release of dnc and Clinton Emails during the 2016 election. Mike pompeo accused wikileaks of high crimes including espionage wikileaks walks and talks like a hostile intelligence several. They have asked followers to get jobs at the cia to call them out. Its time to call them what they are, hostile. They have said we have heard nothing suggesting a criminal case against mr. Assange is imminent. Prosecuting someone for publishing trustful information would set a terrible and dangerous precedent. Dana . Thanks. President trump says the economy is booming despite criticism about tax reform. Dana every one from wall street to main street will wonder how things will go with a divided congress. Today the president sounding optimistic. Im extremely happy with our country. Its may be the best economy weve ever had. May be the best unemployment numbers weve ever had. More people working in the United States right now at this moment that have ever worked in the United States by far, by far. Dana joining me now, the newly elected leader of the house republicans, liz cheney. Is the economy the way to get more seats . Absolutely, dana. Its clear that we cannot argue with the results of President Trumps policies. Frankly of the things that weve accomplished in the 115th congress in terms of the tax cuts. For us in wyoming, the Regulatory Reform and the cuts and regulations has been tremendous. I think the democrats will clearly make an effort to stop that, to stop the momentum and people will realize thats not what they wanted when they cast their votes. Dana does it concern you in the past week, after i guess ten days since the midterm elections, that the message about the good economy is not one that could punch through . Thats really one of the things that we have to do as house republicans, make sure that were on offense, make sure that were highlights the disarray. The democrats have come into office and made a lot of promises. They are protesting against each other and each others offices at this point. We have to make sure that we are in fact laying out for the American People the extent to which President Trumps policies, the policies and legislation that we passed that creates the Economic Growth this nation needs. We need to get back to that. Dana i want to ask you about the longterm aspects of this. A lot of red suburbs had been red suburbs acting like blue suburbs and then this gender gap and kevin mccarthy, the majority leader for the republicans had this to say yesterday. Take a listen. This is a challenge we have. A number of our women ran for Higher Office and moved out. It was the year of the woman. But wasnt the year hoff the women in the Republican Party . No, it wasnt. We have room for improvement. If you look at the democratic primaries where there was an open seat and a woman versus the man, a woman won 69 of the time. They had more women coming forward. We can do better in recruitment. Dana theres the recruitment but the stats, democrats won 90 of house districts with the highest number of collegeeducated women and that includes 15 in california alone. So from a messaging standpoint which is what youll be in charge of, how do you hope to turn that tide around . A couple things. First of all, you know, its very importants for us to have as many women as we can and have a diverse conference. But bad policy out of the democrats is still bad policy. At the end of the day, one of the things that our opponents tend to do, these are womens issues. I can tell you about a mother of five, i care about National Security and Economic Growth and jobs and border security. We as republicans will never be in a situation where we can segment women and say we can only be concerned about certain issues. The end of the day, the policies we pull forward and what we defend and support, they will create a better america for all americans, man and women alike. Dana liz cheney making wyoming proud. Thank you. Dana next, the Florida Senate race moving to a hand count. Phil keating will have the latest. And will marsha fudge challenge nancy pelosi and run for speaker of the house . A federal judge that you appointed has ruled that you must give cnn reporter jim acosta his press pass back. Your reaction . Its not a big deal. What they said though is that we have to create rules and regulations for conduct, et cetera. Were going to write them up. Its not a big deal. If he misbehaves, well throw him out. What are your rules . This is over the line and yeah. Well have rules of decorum. You cant keep asking questions. We had a lot of reporters in that room and they were unable to ask questions because this guy gets up and does what hes supposed to be doing for him and cnn and just shouting out questions. Floridas two largest counties wrapping up recounts. The effort extending through the Sunshine State as a new deadline looms. Rick Scott Holding on to a small lead over bill nelson. Palm beach county got off to a later start today. Yeah, last night the supervisor of her staff who said theyre still looking for the over and under ballots set aside on election day before they could get started. So in miami date hand counting started last night. Broward just finished. In palm beach county, they began around noon. These are the 20 teams each team with two people of the hand counters that are now examining and assessing voter intent on all of these ballots. They will be here as long as it takes. They dont have as nearly as many ballots to go through as well. So theyre looking at the over and understood ball lots. Thats where the machine rejected them because a voter picked more than one candidate to win. Republican governor rick scott is ahead of bill nelson by 12,500 votes, under the automatic trigger. But his campaign again calls on nelson to just end it and concede. In a statement with the hand recount concluding in most counties across the state showing no significant change in the margin, its time for bill nelson to face reality and concede. In palm beach county, its about 6,000 ballots now that are being examined. Miamidade had more. Broward had 31,000 of these ballots. Theyre done. Like i said, within the past hour. Dana . Thanks, phil. Congresswoman marsha fudge will announce whether she will challenge nancy pelosi nor the speakers gavel after thanksgiving. They met 4 about 45 minutes today after the ohio lawmaker said shes considering running for house speaker. Could you decide after thanksgiving . How soon should we expect to hear from you . After thanksgiving. That could be months after or no, no, no. Literally after thanksgiving. Dana im joined by josh gottheimer, a democrat from new jersey. Does nancy pelosi have your support . I have said for months now that im going to support anybody that is willing to break the gridlock. Weve been working on a set of reforms. These are all about getting allowing for the floor to do what it should be doing on the house floor. Youre frustrated. Youre no longer a freshman. You said i ran for congress, i want to do stuff and the rules prevent me from getting anything done . Yeah. People with bipartisan doesnt allow people to bring things up for a vote. So we met this week and will meet with anybody interested in running for speaker. Open to ideas. Now were waiting back for specific answers on which ones she would adopt. Dana at the end of the day, do you think nancy pelosi will be speaker . I know. I know what im focused on. I want the rules changed so we can do business differently. We have to get things done. Dana what are the things that you want to get things done . An easy one is infrastructure. If the administration is willing dana the president has been willing. You think it remanes . Again, we cant get legislation to the floor. Its nice to talk about it. Now when the democrats are in charge, im hoping one of the first things we do is bring a piece of legislation to the floor on infrastructure. What about the new progressive liberal members that want to have votes on medicare for all or this new proposal on preventing taxes being raised by 80 did you see this . Its coming. Youll probably have to vote on this, too. Theres tension there with the extremists, the Progressive Side wanting things that maybe the rest of the caucus doesnt want. The big lesson, the way we won, the democrats, is through the middle. Those are the seats that we dana the ones you flipped. Yeah. Not the ones some democrats replaced other democrats. Where we gained seats is through the middle, reasonable middle. People like me fiscally responsible and want to get things done. Youll infrastructure makes sense. You can get republicans and democrats behind that. As you said, the administration will get behind it. Dana another one. Senator mike lee was on talking about his bill in regards to Prison Reform. Can that get done . Yeah. The Problem Solvers Caucus, one of the bills we got behind last year was about Prison Reform and passed the house. Dana now its in the senate. What about Going Forward . I remember a reelection effort on election year. Divided governments. Americans leak that. That means a lot cant get done. I know you want to change that. Do you think if President Trump were to put back on the table the immigration offer that he did, that he had last year, do you think the democrats will do that or will they be reluctant theres about five offers. If we get the bill to the floor that a group of us worked on there were enough votes, if we got become to our idea trying to change things, if we brought the package, a bipartisan bill and help dreamers in our country, that would if that were brought to the floor in january, i bet it would pass. The question is can we do it . Can we work dana are you . You have a group of us willing and ready. Dana you think theres new republicans that just have been elected that might join your efforts . Theres more than a dozen that want to join our efforts. The middle i guess the bigger point is dana so will the Problem Solvers Caucus be bigger than the House Freedom caucus . A divided government, you can get a lot of them. In the clinton era, we had progress. Dana you remember that very well. You were there. What years . The last three. You were willing to work with gingrich. Thats the point. We have to accept solutions 80 . If we focus on obstructing, thats not what the American People want. They want us to get things done. Dana thanks, josh. Congratulations. Thank you. Dana a fox news alert on the camp fire, the deadliest wild fire california has seen. 63 people have died. 631 others are reported missing and 52,000 people are displaced. Claudia cowan is live in paradise, california. Claudia, why are so many people reported missing . There was a big jump in the number overnight. Yeah, a big jump. Thats right. 631 names listed on the butte county website. The hope is that these people were able to escape and cant be found. They may not know that anybody is looking for them. Heres the butte county sheriff last night. I want you to understand, theres a lot of people displaced. Were finding a lot of people dont know that were looking for them. That is why were publishing this list. Meantime, many of those that fled from the fire with just the clothes on their back have ended up here at this parking lot at the chico walmart. Theyre getting help from people donating food and water and many have set up tents. Many are sleeping their cars. They want to encourage people to shelters. This was a short Term Solution to a longterm problem. Rental sites like air b b are trying to match homeowners with people with space. Community leaders are working to arrange shuttles. The ones here are mostly full. Theres empty Big Box Stores like toys r us that can be used to house people. Nothing has been decided yesterday. Its a race against time here, dana. Theres rain in the forecast. Theres elderly people here, theres disabled people here, a three week old baby that has been living in a tent for more than a week. This is a heart breaking and a desperate situation, dana. Claudia, time for a question. I want to ask you you mentioned yesterday that the norovirus had broken out in one of the shelters. Its very contagious. Any update on that . At last report, it spread to four evacuation shelters, 45 people or more have gotten ill. A number had to be hospitalized. The people that run the shelters say theyre trying to get a handle on it. They have stepped up hygiene efforts and segregated those that have become sick. But none here. Officials are trying to get a handle on the outbreak. Four evacuation shelters here in chico. If people wanted to help, you suggestions for that . I would suggest to call the red cross and donate money. These people are desperate need. They dont need more clothes. The red cross would just ask people donate financially the help the victims. Dana so they can make good decisions. Thanks, claudia. Education secretary betsy devos proposing a major overall on house colleges handle complaints of sexual misconduct. One dispute centers on whether roberson was wearing clothing identifying himself as security. This man has a ninemonthold sob. He will never see him grow up. He wanted to be a police. This young man was a child of god. He worked in the church. He lost his life unfortunately. We want justice. Illinois state police said the officer encountered a subject in plain black clothing with no markers identifying him as a security guard. He gave the armed subject commands to drop the gun and get on the ground before discharging his weapon. This is tyrus, a Fox News Contributor and a body guard for snoop dog for years. When you come on, we ask you what you want to talk about. This is what you wanted and im glad you did. This story breaks my heart. For one, i was a bouncer for many years before i became a body guard. We had many situations like this. Big tiny, big keith. Many nights we held guys down with weapons and waited for the sheriffs to come. When they got there, they ascertain the situations and talked to witnesses and made their moves. A lot of times it was a handoff. Im holding him down. I have him young man and pull him off. State away. Great job by the she was a. They knew the area and knew the people. First of all, this young man a good guy with a gun, this is what those of us that support the second amendment, this is what were talking about. He did his job better than the Police Officer did. He took down an armed man without firing his weapon, subdued him, kept the crowd safe. Probably saved lives. Number 1, hes a hero. If theres some information we dont know about at this point, just going on what we know about and every case is different. The crowd was there. The surrounding him. They were not in fear of their life. If someone pulls a gun, everybody runs. So my issue if the worst case scenario, this is the first thing, everybody said he was shot while being black. Thats the worst case scenario. My issue is im more concerned about the training. Whatever happened to freeze. Whatever to investigating. If he wasnt sure, call for backup. There was a million things that can happen, this young mans dream was to be a Police Officer. In my opinion, he died in the line of duty. It shouldnt this should not happen. It did happen. So we have to learn from it. But its being a Police Officer is a thankless job. It takes a special man and woman of tremendous character and resolve to be a Police Officer. Dana commitment. My question, what is the training . Is it better to be judged by 12 . I dont see anymore investigating and knowing the communities. We dont have cops that walk the streets. He showed up, theres a crowd of brothers and sisters screaming at him saying this guy is a security guard. He was dressed in black, which is typically what we wear when we bounce clubs. He had a had on that said security. People were yelling. If anything, dont put that gun and find out. Its a split second decision. This is just off of principle looks like a horrible decision. The police chief called it an accidental tragedy or whatever. I feel like its accidental murder. Breaks any heart. I feel bad i dont want to assume every cop is bad. He has to live with this decision the rest of his life. Dana its important we talk about it. A lot of news, this is a big one. Thanks, tyrus. An adorable puppy being trained to help others.
