The podium and say that president bush resigned the waiver to the Jerusalem Embassy act. President trump, as a candidate, made this one of his central planks as far as his relationship with israel. There were questions about what kind of friend toeuz rail will President Trump will. He signed the waiver, as so many president s had in the past, but then today he changed things around even though hes signing the waiver. That waiver has to be signed all the way up to an embassy in jerusalem was opened. The president said were going to begin the process to move the embassy and for the first time, recognize jerusalem as the capital of the country. Listen to what the president said. Today we finally acknowledge the obvious. That jerusalem is israels capital. This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. Reporter nothing more than a recognition of reality because, for israelis and for the israeli government, jerusalem has long been the capital. Thats where all of the government offices are. So the president saying thats just the way things are in israel. Were finally acknowledging thats the way things are. The president has critics around the world accusing him to throwing a hand grenade into the Peace Process, derailing the whole thing, which is why the president took specific steps today to say that he is still committed to pursuing a Peace Process between israel and the palestinians. Listen here. The United States remains deeply committed to helping facilitate a Peace Agreement that is acceptable to both sides. I intend to do everything in my power to help forge such an agreement. Without question, jerusalem is one of the most sensitive issues in those talks. The United States would support a two state solution. If agreed to by both sides. Reporter there is also concern that by calling, by finally acknowledging that jerusalem is a capital of israel, that the president might sit in motion some unintended consequences of people trying to make plays to try to lock those up as the Peace Process is unfolding or as the move for the u. S. Embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem is taking place. The president appealed today to both sides to just leave things the way they are. Listen here. In the meantime, i call on all parties to maintain the status quo at jerusalems holy sites, including the temple mount. Reporter just after the president spoke, Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu went on Israeli Television to say he is committed to maintaining the status quo. Now, i talked to officials about this including jason greenblatt, the president s point person on seeking peace in the middle east, dana, about the criticism from World Leaders. They say, look, these World Leaders have to say what they have to say at this point, but they indicated that there is a peace plan that will be coming down the pike in the next few weeks, if not the next three, four months. They said, lets wait until that peace plan comes out and then see what the reaction from World Leaders is from there on. Dana historic indeed. John roberts, thank you very much. Reporter thank you. Dana how was the president s announcement received in israel . Connor powell is live in jerusalem. Reporter this move was welcomed and cheered here in israel by israelis. There were Television Screens set up in some of the city squares so that people could watch it. There is a large american and israeli flag being pictured on the old city walls. There are people here thanking President Trump. This really is the fulfillment of their hopes and dreams of israelis when President Trump was elected about a year ago. They really did believe that he was the one who was going to move the embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem. They were a little concerned in may when he signed the initial waiver, but they were pleased today to see that finally happen. Israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu had this to say. Have a listen. Were profoundly grateful for the president , for his courageous and just decision to recognize jerusalem as the capital of israel and to prepare for the opening of the u. S. Embassy here. This decision reflects the president s commitment to an ancient but enduring truth to fulfilling his promises and to advancing peace. Reporter now, while israeli Prime Minister netanyahu and President Trump have said this will help advance peace, particularly between israelis and palestinians, theres a lot of debate in the region. A lot of World Leaders, including u. S. World allies in europe the arab world have condemned this move. That it wont help advance the Peace Process. Palestinians are extremely angry and frustrated ability that, ab this unilateral move that they say really under minds the Peace Process. One Senior Palestinian official had this to say. This decision by President Trump is clearly one of the most irresponsible decisions taken by an american president vis a vis the region and peace. Reporter so, so far the response has been fairly muted by palestinians. There was some protest in tkpwa sa. There were some Palestinian Christians and muslims burning pictures of President Trump last night in bethlehem. We havent seen the days of rage. That could come within the next 48 to 72 hours. We will see what type of impact this has on the Palestinian Peace treaty and across the world. Dana many arab nations voicing concern over president s announcement. Turkeys Prime Minister tweeting this. Declaring jerusalem a capital is disregarding his tore torre. It is foolishness, madness. It is plunging the region and the world into a fire with no end in sight. A senior writer, im delighted that o to have you here today. It is a historic day. When the arab nations that complain and say this could plunge the region into chaos, i mean, isnt it already in chaos . Its just a reanythings of a basic reality. Great powers like the United States shouldnt deal with fiction. They should try to as much as possible to deal with the truth. And the truth is, jerusalem is israels eternal capital and will remain so. That doesnt mean the palestinians cant share parts of it or that they wont have access to holy sites. Dana in President Trumps speech, he said that the white house, or that the administration of the United States position is to not talk about boundaries of what that would look like. That, to me, was signaling an opening to the palestinians to say there is a way here for us to get to a resolution. Praoe seusly. So a lot of these, you hear from some arab leaders, although its notedable that some are more muted than others, are things they have to say for their own publics. Theres been a realization among the arab leaders for years now, but especially they recognize israel is not the problem in the region. Theres a joke among journalists if you sit down with arab diplomats theyll say the palestinian issue is the number one issue, but if its off the issue, it will be please save us from iran. Dana i wanted to ask you that. Including the saudi statement was what he had to say, the new king had to say. I wonder if you know of anything or would agree perhaps there was a wink and nod to Jarrod Kushner when he was there on behalf of the president saying well be okay with this because the antiiran alliance is more important at this point. It was much more than a wink and nod when the energetic reformer prince in saudi arabia who i think is a historic figure brought him in a few days ago. That cant be an accident. To tell him, more or less, the peace plan that i envision is the netanyahu plan of what a state should look like. That timing cannot be accidental. I think thats whats at play here. There is a degree of realization that it would threaten security with iran, the whole arc that stretches from yemen into lebanon and not with a peaceful jewish state does over this capital or where its capital is. I think that realization is there among arab elites. Dana all right. Thank you very much for being here. Fox news alert. There is a rapidly growing list of democrats now calling for al frankens resignation after a seventh accuser comes forward. But franken just said what hes going to do. Well have that next. Senator frankens conduct. Dana fox news alert. Minnesota senator al franken, will make an announcement tomorrow as he faces growing calls from Democratic Senators to resign. For the first time today a chorus of his colleagues said he should step down, in the wake of a seventh woman accusing him of sexual misconduct. New yorks senator said its clear what franken needs to do. I think it would be better for the country for him to offer that clear message that he values women that we value women and that this kind of behavior is not acceptable. I do not feel that he should continue to serve. Dana here with me now, editor of Halftime Report chris stirewalt. This all came very coordinated. It had not happened last night. Within minutes you had i think 12 u. S. Senators on the democratic side all saying, okay, franken has got to go. Right after that, al frankens office said he will make an announcement tomorrow. What do you expect the announcement to be. I bet it wont take until tomorrow. He is thoroughly done. If he wants to drag it out for another day. When your life is crashing down around you, sometimes were not good at planning things. Our Organizational Skills tend to lapse when we see our lives and our futures and careers turn into ashes. But franken is going to have to probably resign today. Hell probably do it in a paper statement. Dana do you think it was the seventh accuser or was there Something Else . Well irk would say this. He woefully, woefully, pitfully, pitfully responded to the allegations in the first place. Im sorry that you felt mistreated is not the same as im sorry i mistreated you. It was a disaster. The other thing, the other thing cooking here is the republicans and roy moore. Dana right. So looking for moral high ground, you have the democrats saying, okay. If were going to be serious about saying how inappropriate it is for roy moore to serve as a United States senator given all thats been said and shown about him, then we have to get our own house in order and weve got to get rid of al franken. So al franken probably chagrinned to think if the timing was a little different, he could have done the gross thing and waited it out. Dana that was clearly what he was trying to do. Well keep an eye on it. If it turns out that it wont take until tomorrow for this announcement, well bring it to you live. Ky turn to the alabama race . Steve bannon, supporter of roy moore in alabama, had this to say about mitt romney . While were on the subject of vietnam and honor and integrity, you avoided service, brother. Right . Okay, mitt. Heres how it is, brother. The college deferments. You can debate that. You hid behind your religion. You went to france to be a missionary while guys were dying in vietnam. Do not talk to me about honor and integrity. Dana let me read to you what orrin hatch wrote in response to this. He said id be more than happy to sit down with mr. Bannon and help him understand more about the Mormon Church at his convenience. I have a copy of the book with his name on it. What was that all about . You have to have a lot of brass to be Donald Trumps top strategist and be knocking anybody for draft dodging. Thats like first of all, whoa. But bannon is the business of whoa. That is his stock and trade, his shocking and causing people afront and take advantage for the advancement of him and his own brand. But, when you get into invoking mormonism in alabama. Dana there was a school of thought that believed in the 2012 election, that there were some that did not come out to vote for romney pwaoufz his mormonism. Totally. Totally. Of course, for many american, for a lot of baptists back in the day, they wouldnt have voted for a catholic, let alone an mormon. Invoking romneys mormonism, theres identity politics, dog whistles and then theres this. This is like the next extreme. Dana Kelly Anne Conway said last night President Trump had a phone conversation with mitt romney. What do you think that was about . I would have loved, loved to have been the nsa on that one. Dana she said they get along. I can imagine that. Mitt romney, when he had the dinner with President Trump when they were talking about having him as secretary of state. Romney thinking of running for the senate if orrin hatch decides not to run. Do you think thats what it was about . Looked like a barrel of giggles. I would say this. Donald trump is afraid of mitt romney serving in the u. S. Senate. He will occupy some of the space john mccain, jeff flake, when romney comes in, he stands up as a guy who is going to make his bones opposing trump. We have in romney a critic of donald trump. And now we have trump using bannon, or bannon working on behalf of trump to try to block romney. We have trump trying to convince orrin hatch, who has been in the senate longer than any republican in history. Gonna drain the swamp by keeping well, whatever. But convincing hatch to stay just to preclude romneys service in the senate. Its very much on the mind of the president and his team to try to keep mitt out. Dana president very happy with orrin hatch. Chris stirewalt, thank you very much. You bet. Dana be sure to check out our pod cast. Go to fox news pod cast. Com. Click on that. Right now there are numerous wind driven fires spreading around the los angeles area. The dry santa ana winds are adding fury to the fire and there is no rain in sight. We have Fox Team Coverage with rick wright is here tracking the weather conditions, and adam housely is live in ventura county, where wild fires have been burning since monday. Of course, its now wednesday. Adam . Reporter yeah, dana. Some good news bad news situations in ventura county. You can tell theres no wind around me, but this fire 83,000 acres have already burned through ventura. A positive situation for this fire. But the negative situation is what you see behind me. Home after home in this neighborhood. This is not rural venture ta. This is in the city of ventura. Its devastating. Lot of people, like these homeowners, only had a few moments to get out. They just got out with their lives. We havent had official numbers on casualties, but the damage is significant. Several hundred homes at least in this neighborhood are gone. From this after math to the live look right now in los angeles, because the winds are still gusting in some places. This is the sepulveda pass. This is an scur ball fire. My wife was stuck in the middle of this thing on the freeway. Started around 5 a. M. They got people off the freeway. They were trying to keep it into going into the bel air neighborhood. Thats where the fire is burning towards at this hour. The winds though, temperatures here have gotten better from what we saw monday. But the bad news, you see this after math, you see the aerials of the fire burning in Southern California which caused a significant traffic mess. Not only that, but threatened homes and lives. Those winds are coming back. Theyre coming back worse than we saw wednesday. Everybody is bracing for that and hoping there are no more sparks that take those fires and turn them into this. Dana indeed, adam. Thank you very much. Rick, so how bad are the winds that hes talking about . Looks terrible. Yeah. Theyre gonna increase again tonight during the overnight hours. Right now nothing is that bad. Santa ana north northeast. We have red flag warnings and fire danger across Southern California here. This always happens. This is kind of the beginning of fire season. The start of it. High pressure builds across what we call the great basin. That pushes the winds off shore. From a dry mass out toward the ocean. It goes through all of those Little Mountain passes and all of that air sinks. As it does, it keep synys up. So many of these spots around the l. A. Hills. This is the forecast tonight. You see some of those dark blues. Those are winds that will be gusting over 50 miles an hour tonight and again throughout tomorrow night. Heres our fire outlook. This is an extreme even down toward parts of the northern parts of baja, california, up across parts of the south. It improves by friday. I will tell you, this is the season where we start to see that. Big thing to note, last year we had the rain across much of california, which is great news. All those seeds that have been laying dormant with the drought, they all sprouted. Dana thats fuel. Thats fuel. We havent had rain. Theres so much fuel. Dana how long does this season last . It will go probably through february into march. But the fire season there, it can be quite long. Were just at the very beginning of it. Dana well have to pray for rain. All right, rick. Thank you very much. Theres brand new information on Michael Flynn. What a missile blower said the ousted National Security adviser was saying just minutes into the trump presidency. Plus reaction to the major change in our middle east policy. Now that President Trump plans to move the embassy to jerusalem, will other countries follow our lead. Israel is a govern nation with the right like every other sovereign nation, to determine its own capital. Whoooo. Looking for a hotel that fits. Your budget . Tripadvisor now searches over. 200 sites to find you the. Hotel you want at the lowest price. Grazi, gino find a price that fits. Tripadvisor. Dana just minutes into Donald Trumps presidency, his pick for a National Security adviser Michael Flynn was texting his exbusiness partner from the inaugust rail dias that russian sanctions were going to be ripped up. Thats according to newly released information citing a whistle blower. Catherine herridge is joining me. What do you make of all of this . The ranking democrat Elijah Cummings released a statement to reporters. He said he has been contacted by a credible whistle blower who said that he has information that during the inauguration, former National Security adviser mike flynn sent a series of texts about 11 minutes into the inauguration and indicated to a business associate that he had good information that a Nuclear Power project was gonna go ahead in the middle east. This would require the cooperation of russia, and that President Trump was going to rip up russian sanctions. Were waiting for some kind of response from the republican chairman of the Government Oversight Committee and whether theyre going to proceed with this whistle blower. Right now, outside a secure facility outside the House Intelligence Committee where were into hour four of the closed door testimony by donald trump jr. What we know so far is that democrats have been pressing the president s son on this june 2016 power meeting. There were about half dozen people there including the president s soninlaw, as well as this russian lawyer. Youll remember that she pressed for the meeting on the basis that she had damaging information about Hillary Clinton but she wanted to talk ab these antiu. S. Sanctions, russian sanctions, pardon me. So were hoping this will conclude sometime in the next couple of hours. But our experience here is that sometimes, once you get past the two hour mark you could easily be looking at eight, nine, ten hours behind closed doors. Dana thats a long time. And the republicans, theyre speaking out today in anticipation of the fbi directors rare testimony thats happening tomorrow. Thats right. We only hear from the fbi director a handful of times every year in a public setting. Hes going to be on the hill tomorrow for an oversight hearing. Republicans this morning made it very clear that they want specific questions about this antitrump dossier and the extent to which the fbi relied on this dossier to seek any kind of surveillance warrants on members of the trump team. As well as how much was paid to this group fusion gps. Remember, they were the group that got money from the dnc and h Hillary Clinton. Was this dossier, in fact, used . Was it part of what was taken to the fisa court to allow spying to take place on americans who were associated with the Trump Campaign . If in fact that took place, it is as wrong as it should be. We want to know that. Republicans say theyre also going to press fbi director ray about the senior fbi agent, peter strozk, right at the center of the antitrump text, who was at the center of the clinton email case. Then he did this complete pivot to be at the center of the russia investigation. Heres another remember of the republican congress. Nobody should get special treatment. Nobody should be subjected to special bias. Each day we learn more information that reflects the double standard that, unfortunately, seems to be pervasive at the fbi and the department of justice. Fox news confirmed the Justice Department is trying to expedite these antitrump text so they can be reviewed by the House Intelligence Committee, among others. We dont have a good sense of the time frame yet. Perhaps in the next couple of days, but it really depends largely on the volume, dana. Dana catherine herridge, thank you very much. A followup from President Trumps middle east policy shift. He Just Announced the u. S. Is recognizing jerusalem as the capital of israel. Also setting in motion the american embassys move to that city. At the same time, he made it clear the u. S. Is deeply committed to the Peace Process and where thats concerned the u. N. Secretarygeneral is insisting there is no alternative to the two state solution. It is only by realizing the two states living side by side in peace, security and mutual recognition with jerusalem as the capital of israel and palestine and all final issues resolved permanently through negotiations, that most people will be achieved. Dana joining me is israeli ambassador to the united nations. President trump didnt disagree with the u. N. Secretarygeneral there about a twostate solution. Or did i not hear that right . Good afternoon, dana. He said he would support a twostate solution. He called both sides to negotiate. Thats the way to do it. What he did today was a courageous decision by a courageous president. Reality check by the palestinians. They have to negotiate and move forward or ignore reality. Many president s promised they would do it after the election. We are grateful for President Trump for this. Dana one of the things President Trump said, those previous president s based decision on information they had at the time. In the middle east peace plan, to me, is sort of defunct at this moment because of the palestinians participating. The peace has been elusive. Do you think that this could actually spur an actual peace deal after everybody gets over the shock of this decision . Absolutely. We found leadership today. I think president said very clearly, i will support the Peace Process and i will not wait. I think other countries look the way the president dealt with this issue. He means business. It will come to promote peace. Dana i wanted to ask that. Youre a diplomat at the united nations. Is there a plan in place or one that will be hopefully coming together soon to get other countries to follow President Trumps lead and move their embassies to jerusalem . I am sure other countries will follow the u. S. , the leadership of the u. S. Only a year ago, Security Council packed a resolution that called our presence in jerusalem a violation of the international law. Look what happened after a year. The u. S. Is bringing up a new approach. It will be helpful for the Peace Process. Dana do you have any concern of what iran and hezbollah would do in retaliation . They will try something no matter what. We should do whats good for israel, for the u. S. I hear the threat. There was a threat in 1978. We all acknowledge it was the right decision at the time. Dana thank you very much for coming here. Support from his Senate Colleagues collapsing, as a growing number of Democratic Senators call on him to quit. Frankens office said hell have an announcement tomorrow. Jason chavis is a contributor. Jessica, what are you hearing from the democratic side about how this all came together today . It obviously was supercoordinated, when you had the statements coming out from the senators, one after the other, including the dnc head tom perez. The ladies obviously got together and decided enough was enough. The time cover had something to do with it. Also the nature of the latest allegation. Im not sure if you were struck by the words that the latest accuser used that franken said to her. Saying its my right as an entertainer. That reminded me instantaneously of what President Trump had been caught saying on the access hollywood tape. It was an untenable position. We also have a special election coming up next week. Democrats really needed the moral high ground. John conyers is gone, al franken is gone and you should get rid of yours, too. Dana i still cant call you jason. Do you think any republican senators are going to come out and say franken should resign . I dont know. You know, its very telling that when youre doing it within your own party, i think that comes with much more weight than anybody on the other side of the aisle might say that. All the weight is there with the democrats. Republicans have their own problems, too. They have it in the senate and also the house. Dana right. That includes certainly representative kahunan. Jessica, are the democrats trying to draw a line in the sand saying this is their red line no matter what comes up because we imagine this story is not over, meaning not just these particular instances, but as weve seen over the past few months, theres one after another every day, more women coming forward and making allegations. We still have over 16 million to account for out of that slush fund thats been used to pay out against discrimination cases. Not all sexual, but discrimination nonetheless. There will be many more to come. Its telling that we are seeing bipartisan support. We have women on the hill, senators from both sides of the hill trying to get rid of arbitration clauses in womens contracts that prohibit them from speaking out. This might be the issue that finally brings us together on capitol hill. Democrats want to be ahead of this. I think that it is, none of it is acceptable. All of us on the panel agree with that. But when you look at what roy moore has been accused of. We have the woman with the evidence of the notes he wrote her when she was 17 and he was 34. Franken, obviously despicable, but democrats need to say you need to clean house. Dana jason i did it. I called you jason. This was all coordinated with doug jones in alabama. It seems to me now that we are at a point that i think that it would be best for the country, what would be best for his constituents is for senator franken to step aside and lets move on. Dana hard to believe this is the issue that has to be decided on. Jason, what do you think is going to happen . Well, i dont know. Its up to the good people of alabama. Theyre seeing it just like you and i. They do have to make a big political question. I feel for those people. Some people, their number one issue is abortion and they dont want to vote for the democrat and send somebody there that might be apt to be pro abortion. And so, you know, those we call it pro choice. I wish they had done what donald trump wanted to do and that is stuck with luther strange. If we had done what donald trump suggested, we wouldnt be in that predictment. Not in that senate race. Dana we have just about four days left in this campaign. Well continue to bring that to everybody here. Jason and jessica, thank you very much. Thanks. Dana ill keep working on saying your first name. The firefighters are spraying this and the homes in the surrounding area down. This entire neighborhood is under mandatory evacuation. You can see the smoke has set in here.
