Since election day. What will this week bring . Well get to that with our panel on sunday morning futures. President elect trump bashing the effort to recount votes in three states calling it ridiculous and a scam. Thats surprising, right. Green Party Candidate jill stein requesting a recount in wisconsin on friday. Continuing to raise money for recounts in michigan and pennsylvania. The Clinton Campaign now joining the effort. Mr. Trump firing back at the plans tweeting, the democrats when they incorrectly thought they were going to win asked the Election Night tabulation be accepted. Hillary clinton conceded the election when she called me just prior to the victory speech and after the results were in. Nothing will change. Joining me is kansas senator jerry moran. Thanks for joining us. When you look at good morning. When you look at the numbers surrounding the recount, Hillary Clinton would have to flip pennsylvania and wisconsin and michigan in order to turn this election around. What do you think are the odds of that . Well, i think the odds are nearly zero. Were going through some efforts that seem to be unnecessary. Our country historically, president ial candidates, those who have lost rallied around those that won and brought those together. I think thats important at this point in our countrys history. If there are legitimate allegations about cyber tampering with Voting Machines, then in my view, an election official in one of the states is probably not the place for that consideration to be had. If theres really serious allegations, legitimate ones, then i think this is matter for Law Enforcement, fbi or intelligence agencies. This seems to be a political effort at raising money and stirring the political pot. A lot of people are calling to mind recounts of the past. If you look at the raw number, in michigan, where the person requesting it has to pay for it. Hes up by 10,000 votes. Pennsylvania is 70,000. In the issue of a recount when it change, arent we talking more about like 1,000 vote ma h margin. These are big margins. History probably isnt the perfect guide other than we had this sense that elections mean results. Results meaning moving forward for a new president. In these instances, nothing that is evident would suggest the outcome of this election would be changed. It seems to be something less than a legitimate effort to determine the outcome in elections. Thats what a recount is about is who really won. In this case thats been determined and in fact, as been indicated secretary clinton conceded that she lost. The green party came forward and said they look into the possibility that the results were hacked or some votes were hacked. This was an early theory we heard circulating. They decided they dont have clear evidence of that but theyre still interested in recount. More money is pouring in. At last count it was just over 6 million for this recount than i think she raised during the whole campaign. Is there any evidence that any of that money is coming from Hillary Clinton or Hillary Clintons supporters . I dont know whether theres evidence of that or not. Ive not heard that, not seen that. I assume that will become known throughout media and other sources, but again theres no evidence of hacking that im aware of. That wouldnt be a determination to be made by an election official within the states. Thats a serious violation of federal law. The allegation has been its been done by other countries, thats an intelligence, fbi Law Enforcement issue. It has nothing to do with the efforts to raise money on a website to do a recount in one of the states. As usual, the hypocrisy on this has been rich all the way around. From every side you have jill stein stepping out and wanting to help the process and leaning toward Hillary Clinton if she did win the state. In fact, if you look at her number of votes if she had been out of the race, theres a lot of places where Hillary Clinton would have won if the voters had gone to her instead. Hillary clinton, criticizing donald trump at the third debate and on the campaign trail when she said that he hinted he wouldnt accept the outcome of the election. I think we have a sound bite of that. Do we have that . Lets listen. Sorry, i was wrong about that. You can imagine what she said. Im sure it echoes in your head because we heard it so many time times when she said ahead of time, im horrified theyre not going to accept the outcome. The hypocrisy is what you see in politics. Unfortunately, thats true. The facts dont change but the rhetorics change. Im of the view we have a solid election process in the United States. There are errors or flaws. Ive been in courthouses, county clerk houses across my state and theres lots of citizens involvinvolv involved in the process. People who come just to work the polls and count the vote. Those people are doing everything they can to get it right to make sure the votes are counted correctly. Its not about trying to steal an election. In my view, americans historically and rightfully so have accepted the results of an election and thats where we should be today as compared to your rhetoric changes depending on whether youre winning or losing. One thing that makes it tough for people upset with the outcome is popular vote. They talk about the fact she received two million more votes than donald trump. Do you think theres an appetite in this country now to make rethink or look at the Electoral College system . Well, we have the Electoral College system created by our founders. Its in our constitution. That was designed for a particular purpose to force candidates to Pay Attention to all states and while theres always been concern or criticism of the Electoral College, again, we ought to make the decision on that not based upon who wins or loses but the value of that Electoral College. This debate ought to be a separate one from what happened or what people are claiming happened in this debate. Thank you for your time. Thank you. The president elect trump paving path forward with cuba. What will the relations look like under a Trump Administration. James woolsey joins me next on that one. Stay with us as we look ahead on sunday morning futures. President elect trump discussing the future of u. S. Cuba relations in the wake of Fidel Castros death. Mr. Trump saying the administration will do all it can to help the people of cuba. A job that will probably fall to the president elects top diplomat. A part of the Statement Reads though the tragedies death and pain caused by fidel castro cannot be erased, our administration will do all it can to ensure the cuban people can ensure that you are journey toward prosperity and liberty. Joining me now is ambassador james woolsey. Thank you for coming on show this morning. Lets jump right to it. How do you think that a Trump Administration will deal differently than the Obama Administration is probably the most important question Going Forward on cuba, at least . As it did on iran, the Obama Administration has negotiated in a very giving fashion with the cubans. They have not held to a firm requirement, for example, that Political Prisoners be release and religious discrimination stopped before they would take the steps to improve trade and the rest. As a result, the new administration coming in is having to mover uphill against concessions that were already made by the Obama Administration. Thats a shame because that means that we have we havent given up but weve made it harder, the Obama Administration is made it harder for the Incoming Administration to get a better deal to take a strong line on Political Prisoners and succeed before releasing any change, permissions for trade and the like. Those on the side would argue it wasnt working. They talk about driving cars from the 1950s, they dont have any goods. By isolating them, were punishing the administration. So open the doors from the fruits from the west. The people will rise up or the situation will be improved, at least. Whats wrong with that argument . I think generally speaking the cubanamerican community in florida and the rest of the United States has been right on this. Our problem is not that weve seen too tough a line coming out of u. S. Government on these issues. We havent seen a tough enough line. I think that the Trump Administration would have a much better opportunity to get a better deal out of the cubans before going along with some changes if these gratuitous concessions had not already been made by the Obama Administration. One of the surprises of the election was that donald trump got more of the hispanic vote than people thought he would and a lot of that came from cubans who were unhappy about what president obama had done. Earlier today white house chief of staff Reince Priebus was on with chris wallace. He said talking is fine but action is something that will be required under trump. When talking about reversing on cuba, he said that will be the case. There has to be some movement from cuba. How do you think that will be received by rove, castro and those in charge in cuba . They wont like it at all. One pretty good guy is fidel didnt like it, theres probably something good about it. Were not in a situation that the Obama Administration seems to imply theres something bad out there. Nobody is really responsible for it. If we all get together, cant we all get along. That whole pattern, i think is dead wrong in dealing with totalitarian dictators. There is a source of problem here. Its the castro brothers and the excellent cuban people deserve a lot better than that. They deserve a tough stance from the United States. I wanted to get your opinion on whats going on in the maybe still ongoing race for the white house. I understand you have some opinions about this idea that the russians were able to hack into our electoral process. I dont know if theyve been able to hack. If they do, about a quarter of the Voting Machines in the u. S. , as a result of reforms after the 2000 hanging chad, about a quarter of our Voting Machines dont have paper attached to them. Theyre just electronic. If somebody succeeds in hacking, trying to get it all straight is very difficult. The other thing that goes on is that the russians year in and year out, not so much just for this election practice something they call disinformation which is changing the underlying story over the long haul and devoting hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people to doing this. This is a serious problem. They use it for antisemitism. They use it for all sorts of purposes. It would be surprising if they had not tried to use it in the current circumstance. Like where . Where would you have seen evidence of this along the way . Are you talking about wikileakss or something more subtle . Im not talking about wikileaks. Im talking about a long term russian effort to undermine confidence in the west and particularly in the United States in its electoral system and voting system. Its principles of freedom and rule of law. Its not confined to this election. This is something that the russians have a lot of people working on. According to the head of romanian intelligence in 79, there are more people involved in deception in russia like this than in the armed forces. Are they reside in russia, are they in the u. S. . Where that are they doing their business . They work everywhere. They get a story written with a spin they want in one place and then they had to get it published in another part of the world say in the south asia. Then they get it confirmed by some place else and they cite it gives speeches about it. Its part of an overall effort to, as they say, to disinform. To screw around with history. That is, its dangerous because its so much of a commitment by the kgb and its follow ones. We need to get on top of it. It sounds like political spin which we see all the time. The difference is rewriting history thats already occurred. Its different. Thank you for coming on. We appreciate your time. Have great rest of the weekend. Good to be with you. President elect Trump Inviting several people over to trump tower tomorrow. Not me. I didnt get an invitation. Hes going to continue to piece together his cabinet. Who mr. Trump will be meeting and how soon we might expect some more announcements. This artoo unit must be delivered to the rebellion. Come on artoo artoo welcome to the rebellion. This is for you. Duracell and Childrens Miracle Network hospitals are powering imaginations everywhere. President elect Trump Holding a series of meeting. They will continue to working. Former securities and Exchange Commissioners paul atkins. Executive transition committee. Thank you so much for joining us. Let me ask you, off the top, secretary of state is getting a little uncomfortable. Theres so much back and forth. Theres people in the campaign tweeting. People calling this unseamly. Is it time for him to make a decision. Im inside it. Its interesting the see the outside perfective but inside i dont see it that way. What i would say about the inside is theres a deliberate process. There are strengths and weaknesses to every candidate. I think what mr. Trump is doing is trying to figure out who will fit his ageneral da as it relat foreign policy. One of the big things the president is concerned about is isis. He wants the person to work really well with the nsa and the department of defense. To me, taking a little bit more time to get this right is the thing the American People want from the president elect. No rush on the other post but with this one, mitt romney is getting a little trashed and bashed in the process. Hes taking so incoming fire. Rudy giuliani taking some incoming fire. Is it damaging to the person who takes the post . I do not think so. Most governor romney and major Rudy Giuliani are tough people. Both have been in the rough and tumble of campaigns and seen eggs and tomatoes thrown at both of them. If theres another person involved, at the end of the day the president elect will make a decision and one that fits in with his agenda. Those guys with take it. They can take it. A lot of interesting people tomorrow. Oklahoma attorney general trngs sheriff clark. Somebody who has been on our network a lot, very interesting, very outspoken, very colorful. He has a big fan base. He doesnt mince words. He runs as a democrat. His name is being thrown around for department of homeland security. He knows everything about policing, but terror, do you think . Listen, again, what we would like to explain to the American People is theres a whole series of people being interviewed because of sheriff clarks personality, hell be the one that the media focuses on the most. The message from inside the Transition Team is were trying to provide with information that we can give him and the pluses and minuses of each of the people. The greatest thing about president elect trump is hes really taken the time and the deliberation. People are like why hasnt he named this person or that person. The answer is you want him, on behalf of the American People, to really run a formal hiring process as opposed to a political favoring process or a process that would be designed the way washington typically works. We want to design this process to be the way the president elect works which is deliberative, thoughtful and lets bring the a plus players in. I want to ask you about something you know a lot about, treasury. This is something youre steeped in markets all the time. How is the person, im not going to ask you to tell me who he will pick. What different direction do you think we would see coming out of treasury under trump than we have seen now . What will be different . I think were going to put together a tax plan that will streamline taxes and reduce the burden and simplify the tax code and reduce the burden of taxes. Number two, out of treasury, thats where all the sanctioning comes from. I think hell want to use the sanctioning, perhaps, if we get into some trade issues with people. We want fair trade. We want to even the playing field. If you look at the documents, theyre unfair to the United States now. To make them fair, you may need the help of the treasury secretary. We need somebody with a strong backbone, somebody that is very principle and really understands president elect trumps agenda. Do you think that somebody comes from a corporation, wall street . Who is the best type of person . The best time of person has three characteristics. Someone the president can trust. Somebody that knows the policy intimately and the last thing, and this is super important for me. In the heat of battle, is this going to be a person who will survive the fox hole test . Are they going to be running toward the bullets or away from the bullets . We want people running toward the bullets to help the president elect when he needs it. An interesting point you made about policing the sanctions. Thank you so much. House democrats reeling from their election day losses. Leadership elections are coming up this week. Can congresswoman nancy pelosi hang onto her spot in the face of challenge . A member of the dnc joins us. Is depression more than sadness . Its a tangle of multiple symptoms. Members vote to decide who will be the next minority leader. Do you think ryan has a chance . No, i dont think hes doing to be elected minority leader. Im one of the people supporting nancy pelosi right now. We need to hear all the parties. We need to learn how we, thats how were going to win. I think nancy pelosi is best position to bring that foptoget. Its interesting to hear you tie your message to him. He said were perceived in Middle America that were tied to wall street and tied to big money. Nancy pelosi looked like Hillary Clinton when you look at who is backing her and how much money she has in the bankroll and how long shes been in politics. I dont view people looking at us tied to wall street. Bernie sanders said. I think we have forgotten what it means to be a working man or woman in this country. They dont hear us talking about the issues that matter to them. They dont want a lot. They want a job that will give enough money to live in safe neighborhood, buy food and be able to go the a doctor. They are tired of trade deals that are shipping jobs overseas. Something nobody is talking about that pensions are not an entitlement. They are paid money in and theyre scared they wont be there. Im grateful that nancy pelosi is talking about security and medicare. Thats one of my passions that nobody has talked about during this last election. If you look at how the election came out, it does seem like hes seizing on the idea that the American Public wants change. Nancy pelosi is not seizing on that idea. If you look at Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but everything from the electoral vote to governors to senator, to house, local levels, republicans really swept. Respectfully, im going to tell you that weve got to have somebody that will pull us all together. She is already announced potential changes well discuss at the caucus on wednesday. She is hearing and listening. I understand you do have a vote when it comes to transition over there. Keith ellison of minnesota, is that who you have support for . Ive not announced support for anybody. We have to figure out what this party needs. That election is not till the end of february. We need to take the time to listen to understand and see who are the candidates before im not going to commit. I hope others will wait and do the soul searching first. You mentioned Bernie Sanders name earlier. Do you see things moving more to the left. Even when talking about representative ellison, people say he has the support of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders and these more extreme people to the left are who are coming forward in the party. Is that the direction the democrats are moving . I think we be very careful to be an Inclusive Party that has everybody in it. We have different viewpoints. We have different percent perspectives. Theres a place for progression. The coasts that care about the environment. The environment doesnt mean you dont wacare about it in the midwest too. Our party is strong when everyone feels like their voice is heard at the table. Thats what it seems like Hillary Clinton was trying to do and it didnt work. It was like she was trying to be all things to all people. What people were hungering for is the specific. The person thats really targeting. Trump had his big support, Bernie Sanders had the millennials. Im going to say this to you, my district is one of the most diverse in the country. Ann arbor, a lot of progressives and the down rivers that are good hard working men and women. I work for all of them. I understand what the issues are. Im the first person to oppose trade deals. Donald trump was exciting people because he opposed trade deals that were threatening the jobs. I have the largest population of muslims in the country. Thank you so much for coming on today. We appreciate your time. Thank you. Now, here is a look at whats coming up on media buzz. Lets check in. What you got cooking this morning. Were going to start with the coverage of donald trump meeting with the Network Executives, the new york times, the coverage of this ridiculously long shot wisconsin recount. Well take a look at twitter shutting down some altright accounts and facebook grappling with fake news. Are people getting sick of football . All coming up at the top of the hour. Interesting. I have to admit ill be watching football later on today, but going back and forth. Theyve got you. I never miss you. I got to dip in on that football too. Thanks so much. Once upon a time president elect trump caused outrage by suggesting he might not accept the elections result. Now that shoe is on Hillary Clintons foot. How is it fitting . Our panel is here to discuss as we look ahead on sunday morning futures. vo where will you find that perfect holiday gift . X marks the box helzberg diamonds will give you this xbox one s with your purchase of 999 or more. Helzberg diamonds. Heres to love. [and her new business i do, to jeanetgo. Send that invoice, jeanette. Looks like they viewed it. And, tada paid twice as fast. Oh, shes an efficient officiant. Way to grow, jeanette. Get paid twice as fast. Visit quickbooksdotcom. Lets bring in our panel. Ed rollins is Principal White House advisor to president reagan. We have steve moore on hand as well. Steve, ill start with you because you have the disadvantage. Youre not around the table with us. What do you think about this whole thing. Im one hand theres a lot of hypocrisy, on the other hand, everybody is a hypocrite in politics. Ill start by saying the nile isnt just a river in egypt. It were one thing if this election wasnt just decided by one state. For the most part, donald trump won an electoral land slide. Ill say this, if the democrat challenge this and try to change the election, i think there would be a bit of a civil war in this country. One other thing, you look back at history, one of Richard Nixon finest moment was when he did not contest the election in 1960 that may well have been stolen from him. Al gore accepted the results after they were confirmed. I think Hillary Clinton has to step up and accept the results. Al gore took it a long way. Going back to what Hillary Clinton said on the campaign trail. Let me play that sound bite. Ill get jessica to respond. Donald said a lot of things. Republicans or democrat. Its a direct threat to our democracy. This is what played wrong in the election is this holier than thou, how could trump say this . Now she is doing just that. The clintons are piggy backing on jill steins effort. Im not in denial. I know we lost fair and square and i know we have a lot of work to do to do better in 2018 and 2020. Its a difficult argument to make. Her lawyers sidestepped and said since its happening, well jump on. Im more concerned about louisiana. Give money to foster campbell. We need that seat. There are things that need to get done. I dont think the outcome will change. Would i love to wake tomorrow morning and Hillary Clinton be president , yeah, but i dont think that will happen. You think shes just piggybacking and how would jill stein just raise 7 million. She didnt raise that money in the whole campaign. Mrs. Clinton was badly beaten and didnt expect to be beaten, i think it looks like a sore loser. Its over 100,000 votes. Youre not going to overturn them. They are pretty carefully counted by the time. I think to a certain extent its a mistake. Trump has been pretty generous to her. I think to a certain extent it diminishes her one notch. Does it provoke him . Anything can provoke him. I think at the end of the day, it diminishes her a little bit. I think thats the sad part at this point. I dont know. Steve, do you think anybody is paying attention to that . Yeah. Can she be diminished more . She spent 42 years running for president and now shes looking for work again. Being a sore loser is not something you want to be. People are taking this seriously in washington. There is some fear in republicans that democrats will find way to steal this election. This is being taken seriously by the political pros and the trump people. I dont think theres anything to this. They will have to turn around three states or Something Like that to put them in the winning column. Thats such a long shot. I wish she would put it to rest. To be fair jessica, what is sticking in the craw of democrats is they won the popular vote by two million votes. Thats whats upsetting people on the left. They think its time to rethink the Electoral College. We said this in 2000. There were people on the right when they thought trump would lose the Electoral College and the republicans said it. Maybe its time for that conversation. The margin was small. Michigan was under 10,000 votes. Pennsylvania is 70,000. These are not reagan majorities there. Our forefathers had the wisdom to create a republic. Panel is sticking around. The stock market continuing its record setting climb there week as the dow closes an all time high. Where will the markets go next with the Holiday Season under way . Our panel will discuss this and more as we look ahead on sunday morning futures. Tomorrows the day well play something besides video games. Every day is a gift especially for people with Heart Failure. But today theres entresto® a breakthrough medicine that can help make more tomorrows possible. Tomorrow, i want to see teddy bait his first hook. Stocks closing higher at the end of the week as the market continues its recordsetting rise. The dow and the s p 500 both soaring over the last few weeks as investors wait to see whether president elect trumps Spending Plans will speed up our Economic Growth and Everything Else he has planned. The dow rising nearly 69 points friday to close at a record high. So, whats ahead for the markets as we enter the Holiday Season . We have our panel back with us right now, ed rollins and steve moore. Steve, what are the markets are reacting to is the idea of oyou sort of taking the harness off the economy. You know, like the wheels are going to start moving again. You know, with less regulation, lower taxes and an environment that is based on, you know, more practicality than ideology. I couldnt agree more. You know, ive been calling if donalds dow. I think the dow is up nearly 1,000 points since the election. The point i would make is that when you look at what donald trump has proposed on tax policy and dramatic reductions in tax rates and taking the change of regulations off businesses and i think it was on your fox business show a few weeks ago, melissa, i said that we would get five years of 4 growth with a donald trump presidency. And investment markets out there and i think it will continue. Usually 4 to 2017 . Yeah, i do. I think once you get look, we can produce 150 billion more energy every year. Our tax plan adds 1 of gdp and getting rid of obama care and so many shackles that once you unleash them, youll see, i just think youll see a big boom. Jessica, looking at the data over the weekend, so, shopping instore was down but that is always expected because people go online. Online shopping was up. The market, you know, has been higher through the year. Big fwgains for the whole year over all. Feels like sentiment is very positive. I even said before we came out here that i feel weirdly optimistic, but i think that also there was a poll that was really meaningful last week that shows of the last four presidencies that americans are more optimistic about the a businessman in the white house. You look at his other policies, theyre not overly popular, its about the economy. Its all about jobs and thats clearly those key west states the michigan, ohio, wisconsin were all about jobs and to a certain extent he preached that message. Steve moores plan that is part of the trumps plan is a stimulating plan and lowering corporate taxes and basically getting you know, its a tough task. Let me push back a little bit because when youre looking at the people who voted for of the midwest and people who are out of work because of oserious changes that have dwgo on in the economy and these people want jobs, they dont want to be retrained. Real quick, steve ill come to you. What are the odds you can get these people back . Big corporations are not going to come back and smaller businesses and being able to borrow money and not pay this enormous taxes. My sense is that there are a lot of people out there. Steve, real quick, last word. How does he create jobs for those people whose jobs have disappeared . Well, through the things i just said, but i think you nailed it, melissa. Donald trump will be really regarded in four years based on whether he is able to revitalize those very yaareas that voted f him so heavily. Thats where weve got to have our economic development. That will be interesting. Well be watching close. Still to come, the one thing to watch for in the week ahead on sunday morning futures. We are back with our panel. What is the one thing to watch for this week. The treasury secretary appointment and they are sure to come out this week. Jessica, what about you . All about the appointments. Im looking at who he is putting in place to execute these kind of policies and im curious about ben carson and this hud appointment. He thinks hes qualified for something. I want to say im concerned about our inner cities, obviously. Steve, what do you think . What is your one thing . I would say on treasury, steve who worked with me on that tax plan possibly Jeb Henserling or a democrat, melissa, jamie i di diomin. Ill also watching those sales numbers. Thanks so much. That does it for us here on sunday futures. Maria bartaromo is back next week. Media buzz is next. On our buzz meter this thanksgiving weekend, donald trump clashing with Network Executives and anchors over the botched coverage of the campaign and the negative coverage of the transition. Im not going to say this is the beginning of fascism, but there is something concerning when a president elect or a president feels its okay to bring the media in the room and scold them about what theyre covering. But i also think they were invited to trump tower and media execs and anchors for a little bit of a spanking. We are not held in great regard. We were not before this campaign and having gotten it all wrong and the conventional poll oing and all that. I think there is a real sense of donald trump trying to take
