Mike. This attack on the hague is still an active scene. First responders and Law Enforcement are out there in full force as we speak. Its still way too early for any kind of analysis here and authorities not commenting now on whether they suspect terrorism links or any links to the terrorist attack earlier today at London Bridge. An eyewitness captured the horror as it unfolded during the busiest shopping day of the year. Take a listen. Heres what we do know from dutch police now. Several people were attacked by one man out on the street. There are three wounded so far. And they are all minors. Police were initially looking for a male suspect about 45 years old wearing a gray track suit. But the chief of police now says that description is wrong. This attack took place on what is a very crowded shopping street. The pedestrians started running and screaming. See some of the holiday lights and decorations in the background. Sources on the ground there say very if he has been neighborhood throughout the entire holiday seasonal. Multiple eyewitnesses are claiming the stabbing itself took place inside a store called hudsons bay. But, again, the police chief says the attack was out on the street. Its also important to point out this city isnt new to this type of event. Two people were stabbed in the hague in february. And two americans were injured in a stabbing in amsterdam almost exactly one year ago. Prosecutors have since then tied that attack to terrorist groups. So now the milliondollar question for dutch police is whether this attack is terrorrelated and whether it has any link to the London Attack. Also important to note that in an unrelated event today, isis claims they pledged new recruits in the country of aer is by john as the London Bridge terror attack was unfolding. Its likely isis timed this to coincide with the London Attack whether they have any ties to it or not to try and prove their relevance in the wake of their leader abu backer al baghdadys death mike. Several weeks ago. Mike talking with european counterparts to have the very latest and make sure we are ready here. Probably already ready. Mike thanks so much. You bet. Mike lets go live to the british capital and correspondent Benjamin Hall. Good evening, benjamin . Good evening, mike. In fact, this attack comes just weeks after the British Security services lowered the Terror Threat level in the u. K. Because there had been a period of relative calm. Well, today, that calm has been shatter you had. The attacks began just before 2 00 p. M. Local time when a man with a large knife began stabbing people along London Bridge, leaving two people dead and three others injured. It was extremely frightening, yes. Because you dont know what to do. You heard the gunshots. You just dont know what to do. You think why is gunshots firing off in london, again . It was the Quick Response of passers by that are being credited with preventing this from being worse. Videos show members of the public grappling with the attacker, taking a large knife from him and holding him down. Armed officers arrived just five minutes later and isolated the man before he opened his jacket to reveal what looked like an explosive device. He was shot and killed immediately. I havent confirmed at this time we believe a device that was strapped to the body of the suspect is a hoax explosive device. Now, the investigations begin. Police will be working to i. D. Him. Combing his social media and cell phone records to learn whether he was part of a Wider Network and if there is an ongoing threat. Prime minister Boris Johnson today took time off the campaign trail to brief President Trump and respond. I think the message that we send to them and anyone associated with this type of attack is one that will be familiar. And that is that this country will never be cowed or divided or intimidated by this sort of attack. London bridge itself was the scene of another terror attack in 2017 in which 8 people died. On that occasion, the three attackers used a van to run people over before attacking people with knives. They were also wearing hoax vests and were shot dead. And just breaking in the last hour, mike. According to sky news over here, the suspect in that attack was a recently released terrorist prisoner who is believed to be wearing an ankle security tag. And President Trump arrived in london on monday for a nato heads of state summit. Everyone here Security Services included, are now on heightened alert. Mike . Mike Benjamin Hall live in london. Benjamin, many thanks. President trump offering encouragement about the prospect of peace with the taliban. The president is back florida resort tonight after surprise visit to visit american troops in afghanistan. Correspondent kevin corke is in West Palm Beach this evening. From a funfilled day of fraternity, fidelity and food. Thank you all very much. What a great job do you. To the stark reality of a frightful fragility. The taliban wants to make a deal. We will see if they want to make a deal. Its got to be a real deal but we will see. And the shadow of his first ever visit to afghanistan this thanksgiving a flicker of hope for President Trump. That failed peace talks with the taliban could soon be reignited. They dont want to do a seas fire they now want to do a seas fire i believe it will now work out that way. We will see what happens. We have made tremendous progress. The trip to afghanistan came a week after a prisoner swap between washington and kabul and raised hopes for long allusive peace deal to end the 18 year war. Already thread bear hopes of a possible deal were further frayed following a Taliban Attack in kabul that killed 12 people including an american soldier. Forcing President Trump to cancel scheduled talks in september. We have been wanting to make a deal and so have the taliban. And we pulled back. We were getting close and we pulled back. We didnt want to do it because of what they did. Previously agreed to accord would have seen the u. S. Dramatically reduce its military footprint in the country. From around 13,000 to just under 9,000. Keeping a promise said the president at the time, to bring our troops home. [siren] perhaps even more fragile of the state of the talks the Afghan Government itself. Which was, again, rocked by protests today amid charges of Election Fraud and a controversial recount that seems to have favored President Trump ashraf, a man who ability to thread the needle between the u. S. And taliban and paramount to peace for his country and for ours. Taliban leaders spoke with reuters today. Their stance remains the same. If talks with the u. S. Are to resume in any meaningful way, they have to pick up where they stopped before. Mike . Mike kevin corke live in West Palm Beach. Kevin, thanks a lot. Wednesday, demonstrators stormed the iranian consulate in najaf, burning one of its buildings, occupying the grounds and demanding that irans influence in iraq be reduced. Iranian generals have used the past five years of the antiisis fight to arm iraqi shiite militias. We consider this as the first step. We demand the resignation of all lawmakers. We call them the judiciary to put them on trial immediately. Prime minister abdel, the son of a shiite cleric was chosen as a compromise candidate 13 months ago. The 77yearold economist served as finance minister and Vice President after the u. S. Invasion of iraq dabbled saddam hussein. Vice president mike pence spoke with him by phone during his visit to iraq last week. We want to see an iraq that is free of the malign influence of iran and is also respecting the rights and the voices of all of its people. Now that its thursday and, you know, going in at 3 00, 4 00, i dont do it anymore. There is some uncertainty this holiday season. The president s tariffs on chinese imports could cause prices on items likes toys and electronics to go up. If a trade deal isnt hammered out by december 15th. I think the president has an interest in solin sol solving it. As long as the economy stays strong and trade deal president in better shape from a reflection standpoint. And this year there are just 26 days between thanksgiving and christmas. Thats the fewest possible number of counter days between the two holidays, mike. So the clock is now ticking on any potential Holiday Shopping lists. Mike . Mike so you are telling me to get to work . Matt finn fox news live chicago. Matt, thanks a lot. Most of the action this weekend is in iowa. Joe biden kicks off no malarky bus tour tomorrow. Several other candidates in the coming days. Iowa caucuses are just 66 days away. Much of the nations attention during the short time period between thanksgiving and christmas will be on impeachment and the political state of President Trump. Tonight, how Media Outlets have been presenting the struggle what to expect in the come days, here is Fox News Media analyst and host of media buzz howie kurtz. Impeachment remains the dominant target for the media even as President Trump crudely. They are pushing that impeachment. A lot of. Everybody says thats really bull [bleep]. Hearings drew around the clock coverage as the several diplomats accuse the president of a quid pro quo on ukraine and Ambassador Gordon Sondland sparked a media explosion. What sondland did today was guarantee the house of representatives is going to impeach the president of the United States. So they pushed him and they pushed him and they pushed him again but gornd sondland in the end would not mouth his talking points. Even comparisons to the john dean during watergate. Trumps ambassador who originally changed his testimony drew less coverage admitted under republican questioning that the president never told him to pressure ukraine to investigate the bidens and in fact said he wanted no quid pro quo. Here is my response if you werent fake news you would cover it properly. Over accuse fox news of exaggerating. Same preportis russ reporting that the media offered for three years on the russian hoax. Some commentates were stunned by every witness including fiona hill. We have been watching some of the most searing testimony. Her Opening Statement was short but it packed a wallop. Vind struck me as the most devastating we have seen in the public hearing to date. The rising media outrage wasnt reflected in the tv ratings which declined from 13 million to 11. 5 million. Much of the press says the hearings proved the president committed impeachable offenses while trumps media defenders dismissed them as a partisan show. The latest polls show for all the coverage, public support for impeachment hasnt moved one bit. Mike . Mike howie kurtz reporting in washington tonight. Thanks a lot. Nexium 24hr stops acid before it starts for allday, allnight protection. Can you imagine 24 hours without heartburn . Mike last week President Trump honored 8 people with National Medals for the arts. Jon voight, musicians of the United States military and Novelist James Patterson. President trump calls patterson a personal friend and one of the most prolific and fictional authors of all time. He interviewed him after the ceremony. Have you sold a lot more books than me. I guess you have sold more books than anyone. I think the bible has you right, james, the bible has yoyou by a little bit, right. Bret awarded to our guest james patterson. Thanks for being here. Im happy to be behind the bible. Bret how was that . For starters one of the Award Winners was the military band. The music was terrific. The president was president was gracious. We had my son there and wife it was wonderful. Great event. Bret i want to put up on screen just how many books have you actually written. Its 277 books. 400 million copies sold. 218 titles on the New York Times best seller list. 5 titles ranked number one on that best sellers list. I dont know where that numbers come from. It seems high. We will go with it. Every time they give me award like this i know they want me to retire. Bret new book out. Alice cross. Best selling series. Couple movies. Along came a spider. Bret that character has been ever present for you. I love alex. Alex loves me. Its good. Nice relationship. Bret you also wrote a book in 2016 thats getting a lot more look back and that is about jeffrey epstein. Yeah. That book really got some eyeballs now in the wake of everything thats happened since it me amazes thing in 2008 the trial didnt get that much coverage. I brought the book out in 2016. We had hundreds of young girls being molested. Had the injustice in terms of epstein getting the 13month sentence i couldnt get it picked up very much. It was interesting. We had almost all of what had happened. Obviously he hadnt killed himself yet and it kind of amazed me. When it really got picked up, which was fascinating and you will appreciate this is when people started picking on alex acosta who had been the states attorney before the sentencing and all of a sudden that became a big deal because President Trump had had a. Ed acosta secretary of labor. Otherwise, i dont know that the story ever would have gotten as big as its gotten. I think its sick thats what it took to get the story out there. You know, i dont know, for some reason i think people didnt care about the victims enough. They just didnt think it was a big enough deal that all these girls had been, yeah, young girls, 14, 15, 16 years old that they had been arrested. People didnt think that was a big story. Bret to write how you write in such real terms. Even though a lot of these are fiction books. You have kind of your finger on the pulse of a lot of whats going on. What people described around the country. Where do you see our country today . There is a word people think is a dirty word but i think its a beautiful word. Companies compromise. Thats how we keep our marriages together. Thats how we deal with our kids. Thats how we deal with work. Rather than everybody being like this. If we can just start listening to the other side and get closer that would be a terrific thing. Right now the divide is as wide as i have ever seen it in my lifetime what do you think could change that dynamic . Probably if there was a leader that everybody could get behind. There is nothing, you know, against President Trump but, i mean, thats generally what happens. Somebody comes in and for whatever reason people start listening to one another again. It just doesnt seem to be happening right now. And i dont see any democrats that are going to turn that around. Bret you dont . No. Bret Mike Bloomberg doesnt do it for me. Its not an issue whether he does it for me or not. I dont see that happening. I dont understand why he came out the way he did. I dont understand why he would want to be known as somebody throwing 30 million out in terms of getting his name known. It just it seems like a strange approach to me. He is smart. We will see if he knows what he is doing. Bret last thing, have you written about a lot of different things. Is there something that you havent written about that you aspire to . I think the thing i read a lot of kid books. I have a crisscross about alex cross. Another book alli cross coming out the same day which is about alexs son. And getting kids reading and thats something by the way you never hear in the a debates. Nobody talks about education or getting kids reading. That as much as anything else, thats the future of this country. I wish that could be a subject of all the debates as well. Bret well, if we get one, we are going to ask it. All right. Well, good. Thank you, that would be great. Bret thank you so much for your time. Thank you. Mike congratulations to james patterson. The panel is next. We will talk about stabbing in two major european cities. You heard the gunshots. You just dont know what to do. Why is gunshots going off in london, again . We heard from our office shots being fired or what sounded like shots. And looking out the window and the bridge, and police were there. Big flood of people rushing and scrambling and falling over each other. I think [inaudible] mike eyewitnesses after terrorism strikes london once again. With that, lets bring in our panel. Hugo editor and chief of the Washington Examiner. Polster Kristen Soltis anderson and editoratlarge for the hill. So we have a terror attack in london and what certainly sounds like could be either a copycat attack or perhaps another terror attack in the hague. Your thoughts, steve . There is so much that we dont know yet but what we have heard from the authorities there is that this person had been held before for terrorrelated activities. Had connections to islamic terror groups. Thats disconcerting because we have heard the president , the least say that isis beaten that we have rolled them back and they have done this. This is a reminder that that kind of terrorism is an idea. That it exists in peoples minds that there is a vulnerability that many societies have in this case at the u. K. But we also saw turkey release and allow to escape many former isis prisoners going back to european countries. Hopefully not to the United States but we cant look at this as their problem and not our problem. And so this issue of domestic terror is going to be out there for a long time. It was impressive to see the heroism of those british citizens who wrestled this person down and actions they took which were extraordinary. I thinkth u. K. Has become a more resilient society. I worry about the United States as well and worry about sleeper attacks and people remain inspired by the idea of the group that we have taken land from but have not sketched that. Mike people go to shop and this country and around the world makes you wonder with so many people turning out whether this was designed to scare the heck out of people who may be doing christmas and Holiday Shopping. This is right. This is also the case this may be exhibiting some change in tactics on the part of extremist u. S. And those who want to commit act of terror. In the London Attack reportedly the attacker was wearing a fake explosive vest. And the idea being that by wearing a fake explosive vest do you in effect persuade the police to kill you . Do you martyr yourself when otherwise the police might want to just apprehend you and question you . So these tactics are always changing and reminder that even though an issue like terrorism in the polls that i have see has fallen below issues like the economy, issues like immigration, issues like heck in the minds of voters that for our leaders this has to remain a top issue day in and day out. Mike pike we have some comment from the london mayor. Lets take a listen. I will bring hugo in. Another example of the bravery and heroism of ordinary londoners running toward danger. Risking their personal safety. Thank each of them on behalf of all londoners but also because it shows the best of us. Mike hugo, your thoughts . There was extraordinary bravery. And it was commented on by the mayor and by the panelists here. That was extraordinary. Also, there was some presence of mind there which goes to the fact that people are sort of getting used to this. I dont know if you saw the guy running away with the murder weapon. One of the passers guy leapt into action disarmed the killer running away with the knife held between his finger and thumb although he didnt want to get his fingerprints there was real presence of mind that strikes me as a token of the fact in the west we are now having to get used to. This one cannot get used to murder. But one gets used to terrorist incidents. General kelly, the former white house chief of staff was talking at a Washington Examiner political summit just recently. And he was saying that he expected his grandchildren would be fighting in the war against terror. And we have to realize in the west that we are faced with an enemy which is committed and we will meet that enemy on the battlefield as in afghanistan or in iraq. But we are also likely to meet it with spontaneous sort of selfregistering terrorists in the cities around the world. This was an example of it in london. Speaking of afghanistan where 9 11 was plotted against the United States. President trump there to visit with the troops yesterday. Also talking about, perhaps, a peace deal with the taliban. The taliban playing games a bit with some of the things they are saying. But your thoughts on the trip to afghanistan to be with the troops and what about peace . Its a huge step. President trump does not like to travel far away to afghanistan. We know he went there secretly. It was incredible cloak and dagger getting him over there. Meeting. He is now back in florida and he is going to turn around and go back to london. He will be in london monday and talk about issues and nato. And laid the groundwork something the president feels strongly about which is ending a forever war in afghanistan. Doing the things that need to be done, whatever it is, to get essentially a deal and an equilibrium between the incumbent government right now with ashraf and the taliban so that not everything that we put together and secured in afghanistan falls departure. I think khalilzad deserves loft credit. His envoy for this in actually putting the pieces together to get us where we are in afghanistan. Its the president s steadfastness on this which has been surprising. But, it has been very thorough and he wants out of that war. Mike what would the impact be of a drawdown or peace deal or Something Like that as we look ahead to 2020 . On one hand the concept of the United States shaking hands with and making piece with the taliban when we know the types of human rights abuses that they still would continue to perpetrate against their own. The people within their territory is heart breaking but also heart breaking to think that someone that wasnt even alive on 9 11 could be serving in afghanistan today. That we have been there for 18 years. That our president going to visit troops in afghanistan who are away from their families on this key american holiday that we are still spending blood and treasure to try to win what may be an unwinnable war there in terms of 2020, again, this is not a top issue. But its just sort of heartbreaking all around that we are still there and we are still fighting this war. Mike hugo . It is obviously the spending of blood and treasure on, you know, on the other side of the world is not something thats popular. Of course it, will probably play well in the election if President Trump has some sort of a deal. But, to go back to the point that i was making about the fact that this is not going to be the war against terrorists is not going to be over in a generational, possibly in a second generation. We kept our troops in europe for 75 years or more. We kept them in korea for 60 years or more. America, as the leader of the free world, has to recognize that if it wants to retain that position, it probably has to keep a presence in various places and the battlefield at the moment is in the middle east. Mike lets leave it there. Next round winners and losers and of course, candidate casino. With advil, you have power over pain, so the whole world looks different. The unbeatable strength of advil. What pain . Theres nothing impeachable here. This is a witch hunt. When you look at the other side. Democrats are changing their tune as this goes. At first it was a quid pro quo. Then its bribery. Then its extortion. Whats interesting also walking through the halls of Congress Republicans are saying the same things publicly that we are saying privately. Our message is not changing. Mike when lawmakers return we expect impeachment probe House Judiciary Committee with that we are back with our panel. Hugo, kristin and steve. Hugo, your expectations looking ahead impeachment this week. Really important thing for Judiciary Panel the democrats want to try to do is persuade the public that what we are looking at here are president ial crimes. The problem the democrats have for presentation is that they have been crying wolf sips before the president was even inaugurated. They first put our their money on russia collusion and today with the idea of obstruction of justice. The thing they need to do if they want to make success of this is persuade the public this isnt just the third episode of a political vendetta. Kristin . They need to introduce some kind of new information to shake up Public Opinion around this. For the most part Public Opinion has stayed very flat ever since the release of the transcript and the announcement by Speaker Pelosi that the house would be moving forward with impeachment proceeding. Did you see movement around then favor of impeachment. Since then things have plateaued. I dont think anything coming outs of the intention Committee Hearings changed that judiciary would have to introduce some new blockbuster information in order to shake up that consensus. Blockbuster information is sitting out there and cant testify right now and d. C. District court judge basically said don mcgahn has to testify and put a stay on that. Democrats have a complicated choice now. Do they wait and try to get the john boltons and the mic mulvaneys and don mcgahns to testify which will take time and take this into january or try do they try to do what hugo was saying and cram this forward . You dont get much information. Maybe they try to keep the focus on feign no hil fiona hil. I agree with kristin if they dont bring in other big voices then they look like they like they want exhe diet something as opposed to get to the truth then they have a problem. Mike now its time for candidate casino. And lets see where the panelists are putting their money this week. Hugo . Im putting half the money, 50 bucks on pete buttigieg. He is ahead in iowa and New HampshireNational Polls dont count. Thats whereby den is in the lead. If he wins those it changes the calculus. Sanders in at 30 bucks. Seems to me is the more authentic voice of the far left as i would call it. I dont give warren or biden more than 10 each. I think they are losing their lanes now. People are deciding that warren has gone far too far on medicare for all and biden is just stumbling along and not making an impact. Mike kristin, where is your money going. I spread my chips across the top four candidates nationally. Same four pop up in early states, iowa, New Hampshire, iowa. I put biden in the lead. Even though he may come in second or third in iowa, second or third in New Hampshire. He will hit the rest of those states where his name i. D. Is big and has africanamerican voters who really really like him and not warmed to anybody else in the field. I still think you have got to think of him as a soft frontrunner but a frontrunner nonetheless. Mike steve . I have taken Bernie Sanders out not because i have a problem with Bernie Sanders. Warren and sanders one side eat the other. I have left them in the lead. My loser in this is probably equally controversial. Is secretary of defense mark he is officer. Esper. I saw an honorable man trying to both be loyal to the president of the United States in terms of the chain of commands and the way the president is at the top of that chain of commands but also be in touch with the military code of justice and the code of honor that servicemen and women are proud of and where their patriotism comes from.
