Yesterday he said he thinks this shutdown may last for weeks and not days. Mitch mcconnell his bask basic line was get back to me when you work something out. I wont waste my time passing bills that the president wont sign. But what he was driving home is an effective message for the democrats. The only bill in dispute is Homeland Security. That emphasizes the degree to which the president is Holding Everything up over the issue of the wall. He may think that will play well with his base and it was a campaign promise. Thats the narrative the democrats are laying down. He will have to defend why its important to hold these other 6 departments.
