Do you believe that President Trumps support is the reason you wanted . I dont believe its the full reason i want but it was deftly helpful. Our numbers really surged. President trump came in and put Troy Balderston over the edge. And we did win in ohio. The president really took a leading effort in getting the word out and helping us get the work word out. Sandy pencil was defeated in michigan and he now faces senator Debbie Stabenow in the general. In kansas, the State Secretary Of state chris kovach squeaked ahead of incumbent jeff collier in the gubernatorial primary after an 11th hour endorsement from President Trump. This race is also still too close to call but, he says with 90 days to go until the general company cant afford to stop campaigning. Its imperative that we begin running, understanding that this is a tentative victory and that in carrying the baton for the first week with the full knowledge that im a hand of the baton to jeff. If the provisional ballots change the outcome. President trump is confident that as long as i campaign at support senate and house candidates within reason, they will win. Manufactured of medical equipment. Chinas moves coming after the Trump Administration said its preparing to put 16 billion of tariffs on chinese goods in the next two weeks. The u. S. Has input tariffs twice in china in the past month and beijing for its part has said it will always answer the u. S. And a dollar for dollar way. The u. S. And china have the largest trading relationship in the world but as of today it looks as if neither side plans on backing off. The office of the United States trade representative is reviewing the possibility of tariffs, even considering raising that to the 25 . President trump is adjusting the u. S. Made may tax all chinese goods in the future. As far as business reactions, some representatives are voicing concerns that Trade Attendance will raise business costs. We do have some ceos who have already increase prices citing higher materials costs due to tariffs. Cocacola, and the sam adams are two examples of that. Brian ennis has the story breaking tonight. Good evening. Congressman Chris Collins pled not guilty to federal charges of lying to the fbi and of Insider Trading. His bail was set at 500,000 and he was forced to hand over his diplomatic passport. The congressmans son and sons fiances father also pled not guilty to charges according to federal prosecutors. Collins was a member of the Board Of Directors from an australian Biotech Company called innate immuno therapeutics, and was also the largest share owner. The indictment charges that during a congressional picnic he received an email from the ceo of the company informing him that a Multiple Sclerosis drug failed its drug trials within minutes. Collins informed his son who alerted others. They all sold their stock in the company. Five days later news of the Drug Trial Failure went public. The stock plummeted 92 , but by then collins friends and family have been spared some 800,000 in lawsuits. Congressman collins had an obligation, a legal duty to keep that information secret until that information was released by the company to the public. But he didnt keep it secret. Instead, as alleged, he decided to commit a crime. He placed his family and friends about the public good. In a statement, collins lawyer says its alleged that Congressman Collins traded a single share of innate therapeutic stock. Prosecutors contend that the reason why Congressman Collins never sold any of his stock was because at the same time, he was under investigation by the Congressional Ethics Office for Insider Trading or for an inappropriate relationship with this very company. And actually that investigation ended up finding out that there was substantial evidence to suggest that this congressman was using his power improperly to try to forward this Biotech Company to try to help them. Ultimately, collins is holding a Press Conference within the hour. The House Speaker paul ryan is demanding a House Ethics Committee investigation be opened on congressman Chris Collins. Shannon . Once again republicans have resources and money, we have the president able to come into the district but they are not going to be able to do that in the close to 70 races that are less republican. There are 70 districts that are less republican than that one. So thats a House Battleground and the democrats have a shot at taking the house back. Shannon heres what the president said. He tweeted as long as i campaign and support house and senate candidates, within reason, they will win they certainly like the job im doing, if i find the time between china, iran, the economy and it, the english part of me wants to start diagramming all of these sentences. There is a lot of meat in there. But jonathan says, listen, when i show up, and i flip this race and help them win, they cant go to 70 places. So he wants to be out there six or seven days per week. My understanding is the secret service, the most they can deal with is probably four days per week. And thats a lot. They are shaping and planning at the moment to do more campaigning for this president then either barack obama or george w. Bush. He wants to be out there and wants to be going around the country. There are districts where he will be helpful, and theres not a Single Person in the race that doesnt think that person had an effect. Theres a lot of districts around the country with vulnerable members, i could just pick one, Carlos Cabela in florida. Hes told the white house political operation this is not something i want. And thats especially the ones that Hillary Clinton one. They remain concerned, and the problems that they thought existed still exists. Shannon lets talk about another race thats even closer. I think the reason that kovach was in in other ways, i thought that was a more interesting race, because it does reveal because donald trump is putting his mark on the party by getting involved in these interparty fights. And when a president like trump does that hes starting to remake the party more and his ilk. I want to make sure we talk about some of the candidates in their left. This is what they are talking about, medicare for all, free college proposal, guaranteed jobs at 15 per hour plus benefits. Social security expansion and a 12 weeks of paid family leave for new parents and people with Serious Health conditions, a trillion dollars for infrastructure and 1. 4 trillion in student loan debt. 32. 5 trillion over the next decade, thats on top of the 4. 12 trillion deficit. 218 trillion over the next 30 years. May be reality struck for some of those folks last night. If many of them won their primaries, we would be testing those but they didnt. Bernie sanders and alexandria ocasiocortez have a really good record at Getting Press coverage for the candidates they endorse. They have a much poorer record at actually getting some of these candidates over the finish line and a lot of these races where they endorse the candidate, they lost by big, big margins. And we saw a number of democrats and it seemed that those were running away from the progressive agenda. They did better for the most part last night. The country of the United States of america hasnt become a socialist country overnight, nor will it. That model of just taking democratic socialism and slapping it around the country is not going to be replicable for everyone. But i will say we often over interpret everything so i still think its the way the energy is in the Democratic Party and you look at the crop of 2020 candidates, their agenda will look much closer to Bernie Sanders and alexandria then it will counter lamb or some centrist. He wants to stop it from stealing technology, intellectual property theft and they dont like the fact that they were subsidizing all the industries of the future. That will be harder to accomplish. Heres a little bit from both sides. We continue to engage diplomatically and politically with the kingdom of saudi arabia. We have respect for their importance in the world and recognize that they have made progress on a number of important issues. But we will at the same time continue to speak clearly and firmly on issues of human right rights. We do not accept being told what to do and we do not accept our country interfering with Internal Affairs, just as we do not interfere with any countrys Internal Affairs. We think what canada did was unacceptable. We did not discuss Internal Affairs or impose our values and principles on any country. I think its great that for any of the countries, it would be great if the world had a more unified rejection of a place like iran which has at least as many of the same human rights abuses. It stops short of us becoming policeman of the world and i think that thats what i think people are sick and tired of. I think its great that all of these free marketers are coming out of the woodwork, both sides of the aisle. Everyone is now all in favor of free trade. Its important to remember that we may not have been in a trade war with anybody for the past 20 or 30 years. China has been in a trade war with us the entire time. And we may not we may all be in favor of free trade but there was a clear signal sent by voters when they voted for donald trump, saying look, he ran against china, it was a big issue for them. The voters were jones and for a showdown with china over exactly those things because of the stealing of technology and the things that she mentioned. Shannon there was some news that came in late this afternoon about russia and the fact that we were imposing a new round of sanctions, that has to do with the suspected attempted assassination of a spy on british soil. Thats been addressed by a number of authorities in europe who believe it does trace back to russia. This is a new round of the u. S. Pushing back. Yes and the administration has been pretty tough on russia but the president , not some much. Theres a big disconnect between what is a administration does and what he says. Shannon jonathan .
