Intelligence Committee Says the Justice Department and the fbis lack of action can no longer with tolerated. This after another republican congressman caused quite the stir when he called for a purge of the fbi following reports of political bias among its ranks. Kevin corke joins us with the details. Great to see you, mike, this is our first opportunity to see what the committee has been asking the doj and the fbi for as it relates to this deal, the trump dossier. They want to get to the bottom of this. What role did the dossier play in leading to what became a trump investigation . They want to know why its taking the committee the two agencies so long to respond to the committees request not just nor documents but also for interviews. In a letter obtained by fox news, chairman of the House Select Committee on intelligence, devin nunes, escoriated the fbi concerning the trump dossier. He told Rod Rosenstein says it appears the doj and fbi need to investigate themselves. Id like to see the directors purge it. Francis rooney was clear. He wants to see the fbi and Justice Department clean house. We have a lot of great agents, a lot of great lawyers here. Those are the people that i want the American People to see and know the good work is being done. Not the deep state. Rooney, the latest to join the gop chorus of attacks on the fbi and doj including suggestions by some lawmakers that each has acted as tools of the deep state, engaged in a defactor coop de tah. New tweets suggesting that the bureau had been tainted. Its a shame what has happened with the fbi. Were going to rebuild the fbi. It will be bigger and better than ever. Change is taking place. The fbis general counsel, james baker, has been reassigned. Andrew mccabe expected to retire next year. Peter strzok that helped to run the clinton server investigation has been removed from the russia problem after antitrump texts were discovered with his alleged mistress and lisa page. And bruce ohr was behind the antitrump dossier. The prop is in the swamp of washington d. C. , the biggest al gaiter is the department of justice. Thats why were trying to make sure we have a fair and equal opportunity for all sides to be heard. Critics windser if some of the changes are the result of mounting political pressure from the Trump White House and republican lawmakers on capitol hill. Former fbi director jim comey tweeting were now at a point in our political life where anyone can be attacked for partisan gain. Credit to my colleague, john roberts, for that letter we referenced at the top of the piece. Nunes says the doj and fbi have until january 3 to respond to all the requests. Thats the date mike we will be watching carefully. President trump touts his legislative success as recordbreaking and more successful than anybody else. The president is coming off a big win with the first tax reform in more than three decades, but a website that tracks total bills says the trump team has more work to do. Yet when it comes to reversing the policies of the last administration, the president has a laundry list of accomplishments. Rich edson has more from west palm beach. Much of the progress President Trump cites during his first year in office is reversi reversing Obama Administration accomplishments. A lot of the regulations were voided. Congress finally delivered the president a major piece of legislation this month. A massive tax cut after a frustrating year of unsuccessful attempts to replace obamacare. Last year voters delivered republicans the white house, house and senate. The party expected to significantly alter the government after eight years of the Obama Administration. One of the things that people dont understand, we signed more legislation than anybody. That is said to be false. The president signed fewest legislation bills since dwight eisenhower. Trump has substantially rolled back environmental rules, sought longer sentence for drug offenders, repealed Net Neutrality rules, rescinded guidelines on Sexual Assault in colleges and bathrooms for transgender students. With drew the United States from a massive trade deal, the Trans Pacific partnership and restored some restrictions on americans travelling to cuba. President trump also stopped certifying that iran is complying with the bulk of the nuclear agreement. The United States is still adhering to the deal. With the Republican Senate to confirm nominees, the president has filled judicial vacancies with conservatives. Next year the president has tasked congress with immigration, infrastructure and has asked republicans and democrats to develop a new healthcare plan. Though Mitch Mcconnell said the senate will probably move on to other issues. Internationally, continued pressure on north korea after a south korean report said that china illegally provided energy to north korea. The president said that hes very disappointed that china is allowing oil to go to north korea. There will never be a friendly solution if this continues to happen. China denies the story. In an oped, secretary of state Rex Tillerson says china has been hellful but could and should do more to isolate north korea. Secretary tillerson says the administration will continue to pursue u. S. Economic interests with china, intellectual property theft and addressing the massive trade imbalance between the two countries. Mike . This was a part of list accomplishments secretary tillerson detailed in 2017. Theres been extensive reporting hes leaving. Is the secretary planning on staying in 2018 . He is, according to state Department Officials, mike. You know, the secretary has been add odds with the president on a number of issues, whether its iran, north korea, qatar. Theres consistent speculation that the president is not happy with him and that hes going leave in the early part of next year. State Department Officials insist the secretary is staying and Planning International travel well into the winter. Mike . Thanks, rich. The president closes out 2017 with a big legislative win on taxes, but it was not easy. And the road ahead for his next big agenda item could be just as rough. Ellison barber reports on the president s plan for infrastructure. In an era where partisan divides the u. S. Congress, its one of the few issues where on the surface it seems like republicans and democrats could find a sliver of agreement and make a deal. Infrastructure is the United States easiest of all. Were on our way. Well be having that done quickly. Its not just roads and bridges and potholes, which are in bad shape, but we should have broad band across this country. The process for rolling out longawaited infrastructure reform legislation is set to begin next month. President trump sits down with fellow gop leaders in congress. The president has already invited leader mcconnell and speaker ryan to camp david the first weekend in january to make sure were all on the same page about our priorities for 2018. White house officials tell fox news theyre looking at 200 billion in direct federal spending and easing environmental and labor regulations with the goal of 1 trillion in public works inve investme investment. Theres competing rhetoric about whether this issue will be a priority in an election year. What are we going to do in 2018 . Were going to pick up where we left off and get back at reforming healthcare and the entitlements and take on welfare reform. Some fiscal conservatives are concerned about the cost of transportation reforms. To save taxpayer money, they favor more funding partnerships with the private and public sector. That means like toll roads. For democrats, theres infighting there whether to work with his president and his allies. Some are frustrated over tax reform and being left out of the negotiations, while some on the left are calling trump out and at times taunting him for not moving faster on an Election Campaign promise. No infrastructure bill. Where is that statement that was the first thing out of the gate . Democrats have laid out their own competing 1 trillion bill. The money would come mostly from direct federal funding. Were ready with a strong infrastructure bill that was put on the president s desk in january. Were still waiting to get feedback on that. It would create 15 million jobs. Unsurprisingly money paying for a plan to rebuild our roads and rails is the biggest hangup at least for now. Current offset proposals increasing the federal gasoline tax and cities can fund their own rebuilding projects. Mike . Ellison barber. Thanks very much. For more on the legislative agenda for 2018, im joined by House Majority leader Kevin Mccarthy who is back home in california where hes spending the holidays. Good evening, majority leader mccarthy. Good evening. Thanks for having me. Lets get to it. What are your legislative priorities for next year . Well, we have a lot of big legislative priorities. One is infrastructure. Focusing on continued job creation. Making sure our troops have everything they need to keep this world safe. We shouldnt jump ahead without focusing on what we achieve so far. Changing tax reform has taken more than three decades. The average family of four will save more than 2,000. Small businesses are going to have the lowest rates theyve had in more than 40 years. America will be competitive again now. Look what we did for the v. A. We made landmark reforms there. The g. I. Bill is no longer only 15 years or you lose it. You have it now for a lifetime. We gave our troops the largest pay raise in more than eight years. When you look at the regulation, only one time in history has congress ever been able to use the congressional reform act to repeal regulation. We did that 15 times. And then when they sit back and want to evaluate this president , i never heard anybody talk about the stock market so many regards going forward. Getting growth back to 3 . I thought last year was a good year. 2018 will be better. It would help move the agenda if you can get democrats on board. Certainly in the senate but why not the house as well . I ask Debbie Dingell about possible areas of Common Ground. Take a listen to this. Infrastructure is one issue that its not just roads and bridges and potholes, which are in bad shape, but we should have broad band across this country. I said ill work with the president on trade. Ill work with anybody and everybody to get pension legislation through. Thats my job. Shes highlights trade, infrastructure and pension reform. Any thoughts on that . We can work on that. But as we walk through on the tax plan, i had a number of democrats individually come up to me, tell me they like the plan, theyre going to vote for it. The last days they came to me and said they were getting whipped from their own leadership that would not allow them to vote for the bill. We need to break this log jam, to work together, find Common Ground. Its one thing i watched this president do many times. It was just a couple weeks ago when nancy pelosi wouldnt even come to the white house to meet with the president when it came to government funding. Right before we left, we watched we had to have a vote to keep government open . Nancy pelosi whipped her own democrats to vote know to try to shot the government down. I hope in the new year, that i have a new attitude. President trump has said he wants action on daca early on in the new year, those children brought here illegally. Mitch mcconnell said the senate should take action in january. What about the house, sir . Well, i think the president is right. Remember why were in this situation. President obama did something that wasnt legal in the process. Really its the house and senate that in their constitution has to legislate. The president brings up a very good issue when you talk about daca. We have to secure the border so we dont have this problem in the future. Hes campaigned on building the wall. When we look at the recent individual that tried to create a suicide bomb in new york, think of how they came through through that chain migration. If we can fix chain migration, get the security along the border, i think we could come to Common Ground that everybody can agree upon and solve this problem that im hopeful we can get that done this year. Some of your members have expressed concerns about bias with some at the doj, at the fbi, even with Robert Muellers investigation. Where are you on that, sir . Well, the integrity of Law Enforcement is paramount. It needs to be carried out without any politics or any bias. I understand the frustration. When you sit back and you look at what has happened, the lack of response, congress has a responsibility of oversight. They have been ignored. They have been delayed. They are refused to send people in to have hearings or to be questioned. Then when we look at the latest, people being removed that are in center centerpieces from investigating when it was Hillary Clinton or making decisions on what investigations should go forward, when you look at the Inspector General as the individual that came forward and found the emails, these individuals saying their insurance policy wanting to determine what happens in politics. We cannot allow that to happen in a country that believes in the rule of law. Thats why i think people are frustrated and rightfully so. What is your take on the Robert Mueller probe and hopeful it will be wrapped up soon . Im hopeful it gets wrapped up very soon looking at what they have gone through. Im interested in what congressman devin nunes and the intel is looking at as well. Remember, theres a number of investigations going on here. The lack of cooperation, the questions that have been raised by some individuals working in the doj and also within the fbi and the Inspector General doing that own investigation where these emails came out forward. I think well have to clean some areas up and i think you have to have transparency. Kevin mccarthy joining us live from california. Thank you for your time, sir. See you back here on chilly capitol hill in the new year. Thank you. Have a happy new year. Thank you, sir. Up next a look at isis on the move and a deadly reminder that terror is a very real threat around the world. Hey. Pass please. Im here to fix the elevator. Nothings wrong with the elevator. Right. But you want to fix it. Right. So who sent you . New guy. What new guy . Watson. My analysis of sensor and Maintenance Data indicates elevator 3 will malfunction in 2 days. There you go. You still need a pass. There you go. It all starts with a wish. The final days of wish list are here. Hurry in and sign and drive off in a new lincoln with zero down and a complimentary first months payment. Mike today a horrific reminder that the fight against terror is not over as dozens are killed in a suicide blast in afghanistans capitol. White house Officials SayPresident Trump has been briefed on the terror attack and continues to monitor the situation. The blast just one of several recent attacks from a growing threat taking hold in the country. Greg palkot reports. Death and destruction again in kabul, afghanistan. A suicide bomber blew himself up in a packed shiite cultural center. All told, 41 killed and 84 injuries including students, women and children. When the explosion went off, we escaped from the room where we were. We went to help. When we get there, the situation was bad. Claiming responsibility for a tack, the off afghanistan off shoot of isis. Extreme hiss often target shiites and also target iran. Iran friendly media was based at the sender. Theyre killing as many muslims as they are anybody else. Theyre targeting shiite mosques, targeting fellow muslims. Isis attacks are complicating the u. S. Fight in the country. 16 years later, the Trump Administration is doubling down the u. S. Troop levels back up to around 14,000. I believe with all my heart that afghanistan will be free. America will be safe. We will win this fight. Increasingly american troops have the dangerous isis in their sights. The terror group along with the taliban was targeted in 2,500 operations in the last six months involving u. S. Special forces. Bombing runs by the air force are three times last years pace and according to officials, isis are the ones getting it. The number of isis fighters according to officials remain steady around 1,000, Holding Ground and Holding Global attention. They like the headlines. So as they gain, that helped them gain more favor with followers. Were hearing fighting the oppressors in afghanistan. The gathering hit by isis in kabul marked the anniversary of the then soviet unions failed occupation of afghanistan. How difficult it is for foreigners to tame the demons in that country. Thanks, greg. Taming the demon as greg said is extremely difficult. U. S. Military officials said this week that isis has lost 98 of the territory it once held, but as Lucas Tomlinson reports from the pentagon, the terror group is a threat. Despite isis being nearly destroyed, its remnants now pose a new threat for thousands of u. S. Troops still on the ground. They seem to be moving with impunity through regimeheld territory. Some of the fighters seen by drones fleeing west to land controlled by bashar alassad. The Syrian Regime has failed to demonstrate its ability to prevent the resurgence of isis on their own soil. Its one of the host of challenges left in syria. President obama predicted a quagmire for moscow and iran, syrias other backer. But two years later, theres no signs of the russians leaving. Russia says the two bases in syria are permanent. In isis, both iran and the u. S. Found a common enemy. With the threat on its heels, some forces in iraq are turning their attention to the u. S. By threatening the more than 5,000 u. S. Troops in iraq and 2,000 in neighboring syria. The cia director put i rans commander on notice, reaching out to him personally. What we communicated to him in the letter, we will hold he and iran accountable for any attacks on american interests in iraq by forces under their control. The consequences of a diminished isis and iran could pose a key threat to a key ally in the region. 80 of assads fighters are iranian proxies in syria to establish this land bridge over into the mediterranean. We face the prospect of iran having a proxy army on the borders. The u. N. Estimates 40,000 homes need to be rebuilt, keeping millions languishing in refugee camps. Even if we defeated isis, we have to remember that we are fighting and ideology, not just an organization. The Iraqi Government estimates it will take 100 billion to rebuild. Its not clear who will foot the bill. Tonight more than 3 million iraqis are listing in refugee camps. Thanks, lucas. Up next, a bitter and deadly cold grips the northeast. Mike welcome back to special report. Glad to have you tuning in tonight, especially those of you in the northern u. S. That are probably staying inside as bitter cold temperatures take hold. Mike tobin reports from chicago on the dangerous deep freeze and when we can expect a little warmth. More than five feet of snow dumped on erie, pennsylvania. Cars buried in snow. So bad, people had to go old school with the shovels when the snowplow got stuck. Most of lake superior, lake erie and lake huron are frozen over. Crews have been out 24 7. Its hard to keep up. From boston to st. Louis, wind advisories are in effect. International falls minnesota, the selfproclaimed ice box of the country set a record low 27 below. And in chicago, city officials have set up warming shelters for the homeless who are vulnerable to hypothermia and frostbite. Well engage the homeless and transport them to shelter. Doctors that treat frostbite say the other atrisk population are people that dont take the cold seriously and fail to wear proper cold weather gear. Frostbite can set in in under 30 minutes. The pain goes away. They dont feel anything. Thats why frostbite is so bad. The sensation goes away and you dont know year being frostbiten until its too late. The cold turned beautiful in minnesota as the mini haha falls froze. Park rangers warn of the dangers of slipping on the falls and falling ice. Its also illegal to climb behind the falls. And the bridges in wisconsin stuck up. The bad news is that theres more cold air coming down from the knot. That will keep the temperatures coming down in the new year. Its going to be about two weeks until we make the transition from brutal winter to plain old winter. Mike . Thanks, mike. Go back inside. Another good day on wall street. The dow gained 63 finishing at a record high. The 71st of the year. The s p 500 was up five. Nasdaq jumped 11. Democrat doug jones will be sworn in as the next senator from alabama in the new year despite Robert Muellers refusal to concede the election. Moore filed a complaint claiming voter fraud in the election. Moore fought accusations of Sexual Misconduct from years ago. Moore said he passed a polygraph that proves his innocence. President trump made cracking down on ilLegal Immigration a big part of his agenda and new numbers could help bolster his argument to get something done. William la jeunesse reports from los angeles. For decades now, u. S. Immigration rules have been based on an outdated system. A system the president wants to overhaul next year. A new report prepared by the conservative leaning center for Immigration Studies based on census data promises to help shape that debate. Everybody wants to come to the United States. Quite frankly, the United States can be choosey about who it admits. 1. 68 million and Illegal Immigrants settled in the u. S. , the most ever in a single year. 53 higher than five years ago. So the real debate now is what should Legal Immigration look like. And ill make you a prediction in about five or six weeks, were going to have to deal with that as you start to face the daca expiration. Reasons cited by the report for the jump in president obamas last year, more guest workers and foreign students. Virtually no interior or work site enforcement, a surge in american men and women and for the first time, spouses of visa holders were allowed to work. Encouraging those over seas to join new immigrants already here. Family immigration is a huge multiplier effect. 70 of all immigrants according to the white house in the last decade have entered through familybased visas. Were seeing the effects of it today. This graph shows where immigrants are coming from. Comparing 20005 to 2015, mexican immigration is cut in half. From 400,000 to under 200,000. Central americans up. Asian immigration almost doubled and twice as many immigrants from africa and the middle east. From europe, that immigration was flat. What you need to do is understand what is the undocumented population and how we fix that problem. And then reach over to those coming in legally and say how do you maximize the benefit to your new home country, the United States. The drop in mexican immigration was dramatic. It means the u. S. Is deporting fewer mexicans. Wednesday the Mexican Interior Ministry said President Trump removed 26 fewer mexicans than obama in 2016. This report doesnt take a political position, but with the economy growing and the birth rate slowing, congress may be more concerned about who immigrates to the u. S. Than how many. Mike . William la jeunesse reporting. Thanks. Earlier this year, californias wine country faced incredible devastation as wild fires ripped through thousands of acres and took the lives of dozens of people. Now theyre on the mend. Adam housley reports from napa. We know were going to rebuild. Its going to be a nice building again. We have faith. This wine maker says he has hope where he looked over where his winery once stood. The october wild fires destroyed this winery and raged through wine country killing 42 and burning down nearly 9,000 structures. Its important for people to come back. We depend on tourism. The valley is beautiful. Its a good time to visit. We do need to put people back to work. We do need to make sure our winnerries, restaurants, tourist industry, this beautiful land is supported by the people that care so much about it. One of the top five most visited areas in the country, the two weeks of fires came at the harvest season, the busiest. Theres more than 600 wineries that are open for business. Albeit with more room than anyone wants. Most people are surprised. Theyre expecting to see charred areas, burned areas. And theyre few and far between. There is destruction here. In santa rosa, thousands of homes gone. Families lives changed forever. But much of it and residential areas affecting people more dependent now than ever on a steady income. Most likely tied to the tourist dollar. Theres been an immense amount of support from family and friends. Just the community in general. The best way that anyone interested in supporting napa valley right now would be to come visit. While the thomas fire in Southern California also this fall is the states largest ever, the wine country fires are the most destructive with damages in the billions. While the winery hopes to reopen, they need to be create to keep their employees working. Theyre taking wine tastes to peoples homes. Bookings in the wine country are down 50 from last year. Mike . Adam housley in wine country. Many thanks. A year in review, a look back at some of the successes of the Trump Administration in 2017 when we come back. Whoooo. Looking for a hotel that fits. Your budget . Tripadvisor now searches over. 200 sites to find you the. Hotel you want at the lowest price. Grazi, gino find a price that fits. Tripadvisor. So the country is really a big, big beautiful ship were turning around. When the individual mandate is the being repealed, that means obamacare is being repealed. Its time to exit the paris accord. The war on coal. The keystone xl pipeline. We dont want to forget daca. The Trans Pacific partnership. Completely onesided deal with cuba. The rogue regime in iran. Jerusalem is israels capitol. Christmas is back bigger and better than ever before. Merry christmas, everybody. Mike it has been quite a year. Lets bring in our panel. Daniel halpert, amy and molly here with us. Ladies, gentlemen, good to see you. Molly, your thoughts. Firstyear highlights. It was a good year for President Trump. A rough year. He ended really strongly with the tax reform, tax cuts. He did it with a slim majority in the senate. A Media Establishment that was content to not be truthful about what is in the bill. On Foreign Policy, he took a new direction from what weve been accustomed to and crushed isis. Not that he had a totally different strategy than president obama but he enabled his military to make the decisions and do what they needed to do to get it done. He saw success there that we didnt see under the previous administration. Amy, did you notice a learning curve . What are your observations . By the time we got to the tax bill, the relationship between the president and congress had gotten a little more balanced. It was obviously rocky during obamacare. That was the issue set. Its a lot easier to get republicans on the same page on tax cuts than it is like obamacare and the many different facets. If you go through the list of accomplishments, the president fulfilled a lot of the things he said he was going to do on the campaign trail. The challenge for the president and his party is that voters at this point are not giving credit to the republicans. They dont see him particularly positively, they dont see the republicans in congress in a popular light. If you look at just where voters think they want to be in the 2018 election, democrats have a double digit lead at this point. So given all the accomplishments and how well the economy is doing, the real question is why isnt the president or the party doing better. A lot of that for as much as hes succeeding in keeping his base energized, hes double energizing his opposition and swing voters, a lot of these things that are appealing to conservatives are not necessarily appealing to swing voters. The big challenge for 2018, republicans selling their most major piece of legislation, which is the tax bill. You mentioned the economy. We have handy dandy graphics to show you about changes. Real gdp growth, unemployment rate, Consumer Confidence improving between january and now. Look at the dow milestones. Look at the curve at that. Anybody with a 401 k at home recognizes the impact in terms of the surging dow. Well see if that continues into the new year or whether we see a bit of a reversal. Daniel is one of the keys looking ahead that voters feel like theyre getting something from the tax cut and they see it . That it would help, if people can feel the benefits of it. I think that does help in many ways. Look, President Trump so far has been the most conservative president in the first year of my lifetime, which might not say that much. It is what it is. But i think the problem is many of his accomplishments have not yet been lasting. So hes got a Supreme Court justice, hes reshaped in many ways the judicial system with a lot of nominees in lower courts. Helped along by the senate. Of course, hes had the tax reform package. A lot of the other changes have been roll backs of president obama, which conservatives rightfully cheer and they celebrate, but it doesnt mean that the next president has to abide by that. The next president can come back in and resign a lot of these things and go back to where president had. So unless he can get congress and legislative accomplishments, i think how we judge the in terms of substantive policy of this administration, how we judge that is still up in the air. We saw with president obama, the pen and the phone didnt have lasting effect unless it was permanent legislation. And i think i that is a very important point to pick up on in terms of the roll back versus the new stuff. Plus, the president has made this presidency the first year really about himself. Voters are really also saying that this presidency has been much more about his personality than about the policies. In fact, if you look at polling, people that like him and dont like him, what it is they do or dont do about him, the number one thing that comes up are aspects of his personality or temperament. They picked obamas policies. I dont like obamacare. But obamas presidency was about him and Department Work out for the Democratic Party at large. Thats the challenge for republicans, how to work with this president and make sure that their success is tied to his. The tax reform and the tax cuts showed a way for the tea party element, the more populous element to work with the establishment republicans. If they can do more of those successes working together, they might both benefit. And my sense is that with a Supreme Court justice being approved, if theres another Supreme Court opening at some points, that would be something that his base could get very excited about. That was one of his most successful things. Donald trump got a good reception to that pick. You can count he will pick someone else along those lines. The same time, its true that some of these regulatory changes are farreaching. Dismantling the clean power plan, the paris accord, the bureaucratic stuff that goes with that. If you didnt do that, you would have the environmental overreach that didnt happen. Some of these things are more long lasting than people just realize. Even though theyre just repeals. Weve seen a fair amount of personnel shuffle. Well see if that continues. Panel, well be back in just a moment. Next up, the biggest assets and liabilities in the president s cabinet. I know i speak on behalf of the entire cabinet and millions of americans when i say congratulations and thank you. I also want to thank the cabinet. I think we have a fantastic team. Next were were going on to some amazing things. The members of the cabinet, you have been outstanding. With that, were back with our panel. Time to look at the trump cabinet. Assets and liabilities. Assets first. Its hard to know. We dont know what they discuss and who is in charge. The public face, it has to go to nikki haley. Shes been a force for good for the Trump Administration. Making a case for American Power and at the u. N. Helping get support for american initiatives. It wasnt perfect with the vote last week or the week before in terms of condemning the Jerusalem Decision by trump, but in terms of sanctions for north korea, in terms of substantive things that shes gotten done has been impressive and a boon. Mike the white house website does list her as a member of the cabinet. So as the u. N. Ambassador has been in previous administrations. I concur. That is a cabinet level. I picked jim mattis who is not in this town theres very few things that both sides can agree upon. This is one that all sides say they have a great deal of faith in. He was pushed through the senate, he got his confirmation. It was not unanimous, but it was pretty darn close to that i think there were one or two votes against him. And even when you talk to folks who dont have a lot of good things to say about donald trump, they point to jim mattis and say i feel very good knowing that hes sitting there in the cabinet. A lot of folks on both sides feel good about the generals. Molly . One of the things that people talk about with this first year, how well things are going were the stock market, Consumer Confidence, the economy doing well. A lot of that has to do with President Trumps general desire to pull back on regulatory overreach. He had had a pledge that they would have get rid of two regulations for every new one they passed and its like getting rid of 20 for every one passed. The biggest player, the most important person for this stuff is scott pruitt, the epa head. He was a courageous pick for trump. Hes done amazing work. He fought for getting out of the Paris Climate Accord treaty. He had a fight with jared, ivanka, Rex Tillerson. All these people that wanted to state in. Its one of many environmental regulatory overreaches that he pulled back on. And hes made the left crazy at the same time. But he doesnt play a lot of the washington d. C. Games. He doesnt like the media and doesnt need the media attention. Thats another way to be successful in this administration. Not to seek a claim for what youre doing. Time for trump cabinet liabilities after year one. Molly . It has to be attorney general jeff sessions. There were high hopes of someone of his caliber to lead this department. I dont know what caused him to recuse himself. He seemed to not be aware that he was turning over the department to people that would not hold the agency accountable for criminal leaks, for they refuse to turn over information to congressional investigators. Theyre not holding their own agency accountable. He really donald trump really needed someone that was strong and understood the political winds and the opposition and how they would work through that department. So his stepping down was not helpful. Does attorney general sessions last . If he were to leave, how does somebody else get confirmed . I dont know. He should have let President Trump know he was going to step down before he accepted that nomination. Its a done deal now. Things are wrapping up. Once everything is done with the russia investigation, then it doesnt matter so much. Although the investigation is turning quite a bit into the shenanigans at the department of justice, what they were doing with this democraticfunded opposition research, russia. I dont know if he still needs to be recused from that when theres a lot that needs to be found out. Amy, your vote for liability. I pick someone that didnt get a lot of attention during the nomination process. Ryan zenke a congressman from montana. Got a lot of democratic votes in his confirmation. Yet his time at interior has been marked by travel scandals, which already has taken out one member of cabinets, tom price with his private flights that were getting reimbursed by taxpayer dollars. The Inspector General is looking at some of these flights and the suggestion that hes using Government Funds to go to political events and coming back in forth in ways that are not efficient for taxpayers, this is a president that wanted to drain the swamp. His work as interior secretary is getting overshadowed by the travel, i guess well call it semi scandal. Do you blame it on rookie error . This is somebody who has been in congress. Hes not new to washington. If your goal as a administration is to say drain the swamp, dont do things the way other people, were going to set a bar higher than anybody has had before we got here, to blur the lines between pleasure and work and again taxpayer dollars to go on helicopter trips, not a good look.
