President trump, behind the scenes, he is continuing to weigh all possible options in case north korea conducts more tests this weekend. Tomorrow, Vice President of mike pence is heading to the frontline of the standoff with north korea. The same day the country will celebrate the birthday of its founding father. It is a day that prompted pyongyang to launch at least two Ballistic Missiles over the last five years, and this year it is on the verge of its six nuclear test. With north korea warning a big event is near, the white house is sending its own message. First with the strikes in syria, then yesterday with the mother of all bombs dropped on isis fighters in afghanistan. If you look at what has happened over the last eight weeks and compare that relate to what has happened over the last eight years, he will see there is a tremendous difference. The difference between the willingness to use big, bold military action is a difference that north korea has undoubtedly taken notice, even if the new commander in chief says the bomb in afghanistan wasnt intended to be a warning to north Korean Leader kim jongun. I dont know if this sends a message. It doesnt make a difference if it does or not. North korea is a problem. The problem will to be taken care of. Ill say this. I think china has really been working very hard. Exactly one week after President Trumps first meeting with chinese president xi jinping, china is taking much stronger stance against north korea. According to a staterun north mag newspaper, chinas threatening to cut off shipments of oil. It would be a devastating blow to the dictatorship which depends on china for 90 of its crude oil supply. The Trump Administration is also considering more sanctions on the rogue regime at the same time it is sending more firepower. We are sending an armada, very powerful. We have submarines, very powerful, far more powerful than the aircraft carrier. China is supporting those countries to show restraint. If they dont, if war breaks out on the korean peninsula, Chinese Foreign minister said today that they must shoulder the historical culpability and pay the corresponding price. Now, there has been some concern about the Vice President heading to the region with tensions this hot, but the white house says contingency plans are in place in case north korea decides to take any kind of provocative action while the Vice President of the United States is just next door. Bret . Spohn kristin, thank you. North korea is threatening a preemptive strike on the u. S. If it thinks a u. S. Military attack is imminent. The north continues its defiance, meantime, over Nuclear Weapons testing. Senior Foreign Affairs correspondent greg palkot fired filed this report from pyongyang paid as North Koreans get ready to mark the most important and may be the most dangerous day of their year, more talk is coming from north Korean Leader kim jonguns Deputy Foreign minister. He told the Associated Press but we have been hearing from other north korean officials here, that they will confront any socalled reckless u. S. Maneuver with a preemptive strike. We are taking into account the most aggressive and dangerous option that the u. S. Might come up with. We also have got our options, our countermeasures, ready in our hands, which means we will go to war if we choose. With residents of pyongyang preparing to celebrate the anniversary tomorrow of the anniversary of the founder camilles own theyre also been reports that north korea could detonate another nuclear device. The word from that Government Official is, that will happen at the time and place of their choosing. That is an attitude that plays well with at least some here. U. S. And north korea are at war. The u. S. Has been pursuing hostile activities, and we dont like it. And his military officers paid their respects at the birthplace of the north korean founder outside of pyongyang, the word also gave met official that the u. S. Commander in chief, donald trump, was the one making trouble these days with what they called a vicious and aggressive provocations of his administration. Listen to these provocative words from a north korean kerne kernel. Even though the u. S. Trying to invade the country to attack, they wont do it because we have such a mighty strength, we will smash the head. By the way, President Trump at one point had said that he would sit down with kim jongun and try to work everything out. Well, that official today called those words lip service. Fighting words. Bret . Bret greg palkot in pyongyang. Thank you. Well head back for breaking details. We are learning more tonight about the deployment of that huge bomb the u. S. Dropped on isis terrorists in afghanistan, the caves and tunnels there. National security correspondent Jennifer GriffinJennifer Griffin for. And tonight from the pentagon. The pentagon says this was a local decision made on the ground. General john nicholson, he had the authority and took the decision to strike using a Massive Ordnance Air blast. The bomb was transferred to afghanistan in early january. The pentagon released this video of yesterdays strike to show the impact. The mother of all bombs was designed for its psychological effect as much as anything. 21,000 pounds, if last radius of 1 mile. There is a psychological component all aspects of warfare. In 2003 shortly after it was first tested, thensecretary Donald Rumsfeld explained why they developed bomb and tested it at the start of the iraq corporate the goal is to not have a war. The goal is to have the pressure be so great that Saddam Hussein cooperates. Short of that, and unwillingness to incorporate, the goal is to have the capabilities of the coalition so clear and so obvious that there is an enormous disincentive for the iraq he military to fight. The plume from the explosion reaches 10,000 feet into the air. Until yesterday, it was never used in combat. This is an isolated part of afghanistan, a mountainous region near pakistan where isis fighters moved freely back and forth across the border paid speaking this morning couple, general nickerson defended his decision to order the palms deployment saying this was the right bomb and the right time to use it. We had persistent surveillance over the area before, during, and after the operation, and now we have afghan and u. S. Forces on the site and see no evidence of civilian casualties, nor have there been any reports of civilian casualties. Of this coming as he was officials continue to note and public testimony they are seeing increasing evidence the russians are helping the taliban in afghanistan. Senior air force officials tell me this is a weapon that is used for strategic messaging. Im told this was a tactical decision by the commander in afghanistan with no real strategic input from washington. Bret . Bret Jennifer Griffin. Thank you. Should the u. S. Dropped more huge bombs on mattis like this . Let me know on twitter, bretbaier, use the hashtag specialreport are on facebook at facebook. Com special report sr. Correspondent peter doocy is here with more on this, payback, perhaps, good evening. Top democrat and another democratic lawmaker are now accused of disclosing classified intel publicly. Allegations and evidence of this was sent to the office of congressional ethics by the Group Judicial watch today, and that groups president tells me that if there is an investigation, Ranking Member should recuse themselves from the russian probe. The group thinks shift retailed intel in march when he talked about a Michael Flynn phone call with the Russian Ambassador that was widely reported about but still classified. Hear you had a situation where the president is informed that his National Security advisor, not the postmaster general, who im sure is very important, but the National Security advisor of the United States of america, has lied to the Vice President and probably others. Judicial watch things similar classified info was leaked. I still havent gotten emails back from reps for schiff or shire. Saying this, while the Ethics Committee examines innocuous statements on obama surveillance of the trauma team, it all to expand its investigation to include the other members of the Intelligence Committee who seemed to a flagrantly violated the rules. Remember, nunes said he stepped aside because leftwing groups complained to the office. Todays complaint about democrats comes from a group that calls themselves a conservative nonpartisan educational organization. Bret . Spilling some of President Trumps supporters are wearing tonight about what some consider a move to the left. Is it pragmatism or a real ideological shift . Correspondent kevin corke is at the white house with that. For President Trump, this may end up being the last easter weekend in florida, but in some conservative circles, clouds of concern art circling, especially after a series of recent policy decisions that are at direct odds with previously held positions by the president , including reversals on nato, the exim bank, even janet yelling, a role that once dubbed by Time Magazine the great manipulator. Bannon has been at odds with mr. Trumps soninlaw and fellow advisor jared kushner, who often sides with his wife, ivanka trump, on major policy matters. A political game of thrones that many conservatives fear will pull the president to the left on climate change, abortion, and policing, for example. An affront to his base, they say, and in contrast to the Campaign Rhetoric that sent into office pete said rich lowry of the national review, this group is all democrats with marinated for decades in the social elite of manhattan. If jared and ivanka end up running the joint, it would be hard to overstate the turnabout from last years campaign. He has come up for whatever reason, chosen to surround himself with a number of established republicans who i dont think really understand trumpism, dont understand the larger currents that got him elected. Syndrome has to energize s base with more than just talk because if they dont do it, i absolutely guarantee you that conservatives would walk. But is that really true . Some analysts just that just as they did during the campaign, trumps face simply wont care about his inconsistencies. They elected a man knowing that he is very flexible ideologically. That is not of interest to us. We think he can get things done. White house officials, bret, insist the president will defend his base and all of the american people, but he will remain flexible in the process. Perhaps best evidenced by tonights decision by the white house to decline to name china a currency manipulator while keeping an eye on six other countries. Bret . Bret kevin corke live on the north line. Thank you. The Trump Administration will not release logs of visitors to the white house. Todays announcement breaks with the practice of the obama administration, but Officials Say he is consistent with policies of previous president s. They see releasing the logs could impact privacy and National Security and interfere with policy development. Open government groups are already assuming the administration over those logs. Thousands of worshipers endured exceptionally tight security today to pray along with pope francis on this good friday. The pope presided over the way of the cross procession at the coliseum and mass at st. Peters basilica. Antiterrorism measures have been heightened for large public crowds after several vehicle attacks in nice, berlin, stockholm, and other european cities. Back here in the u. S. , stock markets were closed for the holiday. Meanwhile, the director of the International Monetary fund says she does not believe President Trump is against freetrade because it is in the countrys best interest. She spoke exclusively today on fox business network. I would be surprised if, just as i am, the president was not in support of a free, fair, and global trade, because it benefits u. S. Companies at large enormously over the course of time. And if i reduced the price of goods. Bret lives is here with more on this interview. He also talked with the director about syria. Come yes, we talked about a whole bunch of things because the International Monetary fund is tasked with keeping economic stability around the world. But on the trade issue, she is taking that same track that a lot of antiborder adjustments tax people are taken, and that is, it will jack up the price of products and freetrade isnt what hurt all of the factories in the United States, it is technical logical developments, things like robotics, and that is why people lose jobs. I doubt the president really thinks that, so she can help, but it was fascinating to see what she is with the same page with the present about. She was pounding the table and tax form, lets go preach she was also saying that infrastructure is something she would love to see, that that would be really, really helpful. But anything with a trade barrier she called economic malpractice. Spilling she is optimistic though about the state of the u. S. Economy or where it could be . They have a Spring Meeting next week, but she gave us a preview in an exclusive interview here. What was interesting, like i said, are we at least better than 2016 . And she said, we look great here in the United States. Much better than 2016. So that may play into the stock market on a monday or tuesday because it is really giving the thumbs up what has been a very tough time. We appear to be coming out of it. Bret speaking of syria, what is the imf doing in syria . They will not be in syria. That is what people wanted to know come up with the imf go in . I asked her that pete she said no, they are not going in at all. That be throwing good money after bad. Until there is solid piece, the imf will stay away from places like syria because of all that. The imf has 189 members, he was one of the bridge syria is a member that they want to make sure that the money is paid in by each and every one of them doesnt go flying away into situations like syria. Bret if you are one of the 40 million taxpayers who have not yet filed your tax return, you have a little more breathing room this year since april 15th, tomorrow, a saturday, and monday is a holiday the deadline is tuesday, april 18th. You can file an extension, but your tax must be paid on time. So far, the irs has processed 101 million returns. It has refunded 229 billion, with a b, that is an average of 2851 per refund, just so you know. Up next, the f35 is the most expensive warplane ever. Is it worth it . San francisco wants a court order blocking a cutoff of funds from any of the immunities that limit cooperation. That is tonights live cloak outside the beltway, from special report. Well be right back i dont know if this sends a message. It doesnt make a difference if it does or not. North korea is a problem. The problem will be taken care of. I will say this, i think china has really been working very hard. I think the president , to his credit, is doing the right thing and trying to put pressure on president xi to put pressure north korea. At the bottom line is, north korea has got to change its behavior. We are taking into account the most aggressive and dangerous option the u. S. Might come up with. We will go to war if we choose. Sport north korean tension, we can tell you that mike pence is heading there to south korea. This is reporters have been told to gather in pyongyang to be taken somewhere. We are told may be a parade of some sort. They also may be doing a sixth nuclear test, they may fire some sort of missile. We dont know. But we do know that the u. S. Has the uss carl vinson in the region, ready and willing to act if needed. The president has talked about dealing with china and dealing with this diplomatically, but things are tense in that region as of tonight. Lets bring in our panel. Tom rogan, columnist for national review. A senior politics writer for u. S. News and world report. And the political editor. Your thoughts on the back and forth, the rhetoric on both sides on this issue . Yeah, i mean, it is a very serious issue, that goes without saying. Because of the unpredictability of the regime in this case, you look at iran, for example, a longterm political agenda where it is informed by iranian theology. In the case of the North Koreans with the essential power and centered around kim jongun himself and the unpredictable behavior, when that kind of individual has that much power, and the longer term, the development of the Ballistic Missiles, it is a threat. What do i think is happening . Number one, there is this pressure behind the scenes on china. Looks like the Trump Administration is optimistic on that. The second point, the buildup of assets in the region to take military action if the president deems it necessary. Bret we have seen china turn away some coal imports, they are talking like they are going to help the Chinese Foreign minister on this standoff. Says a made challenge there is opportunity and the tensions, we will find an opportunity to return to talks. Whoever continues to make trouble in this place, they will have to assume historical responsibility. Issuing their own morning, if you will. Speaking of dark clouds gathering, fascinating that you have china and russia put out a Statement Today trying to be the peacemaker here. Frankly, this is par for the course for north korea. For decades, they have been in for bellicose, provocative threats that, in many instances, they cannot follow through with. Bret they just want to get them back to the table, they can get food and supplies. Absolutely. I also think it is how they position themselves with strength in the region. They scare people with rhetoric. The difference, i think, the north korean regine, i think the difference is the unpredictability of donald trump. We dont know how donald trump is going to react. With china, it looks like helping him with china. It looks like he wants a diplomatic out here and doesnt want to start a war, but we just dont know how donald trump makes the decision and who is in the room with him this weekend if he has to make it. Bret frankly, is that part of the reason china is coming off the ball . Because we dont know what President Trump is going to do as opposed to the administration that can get china to act at all on north korea . What we do know is something that donald trump has done this week, and he took some heat for his decision to not label china a currency manipulator. People said that was a reversal from his campaign pledge. In some ways, it seems to have paid dividends in terms of getting china into the game to help isolate the north korean regime. The North Koreans have also acted bellicose because they knew that the chinese had the backbeat china is truly isolated from the North Koreans, and the north korean regime is out on an island, they are going to be in big trouble, and they know that the conflict is not something they can win or they are going to want to fight. Bret i want to play this sound bite from leon panetta. I think there is a realization that the time for talk, the time for some of this if i can put it in this kind of longterm negotiation stay statement, is passed. If we were to try to attack them, they would virtually wipe out seoul and 20 Million People who live in seoul. And if it became a nuclear war, which is likely, millions of lives would be lost. That is the reason we havent pulled the trigger. Bret tom . I think the particular issue at the moment is to compare kim ilsung and kim jongil, he might be mentally ill. I dont say that is a flippant comment. It puts everything in the past, that bellicose rhetoric bret his father was out there, but he is really out there. He might welcome more. I think the u. S. Military in the event of a conflict, no question the United States would prevail. But the cost to seoul, it would be overrun, not totally destroyed, but thousands of innocent civilians would die. And the components then of what North Koreans do along the dmc with american forces, it makes it a very, very challenging situation. The ability, though, has to become a push the chinese, make this a priority when issue for the United States. I think trump is right in trade on doing that. And whatever the chinese traders, help guide policy, if we can determine through manifesting this poorest buildup, do it. But immensely challenging for a new president. Bret this comes after the actions in syria, the 59 tomahawk cruise missiles, and this moab, which technically is Massive Ordnance Air blast, this massive bomb, not the mother of all bombs. That is the nickname. But it is psychological. This is a sound bite actually from back in 2003 when this bomb was created, actually for the iraq war. This is thendefense secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Look closely at one of the reporters in the front row there. Is there a psychological component to this massive new bomb . There is a psychological component to all aspects of warfare. The goal is to not have a war. The goal is to have the pressure be so great that Saddam Hussein cooperates. Short of that, and unwillingness to cooperate, the goal is to have the capabilities of the coalition so clear and so obvious that there is an enormous disincentive for the iraq he military to fight against the coalition. Pentagon officials are saying that this was a local decision, commanders on the grounds deploying this particular attack. The white house wont even say if trump signed off on that or not. I think in a larger context, who is better at political theater and intimidation than President Donald Trump . He is the master of it. I think the question is, if there is some sort of test, either a missile test or this sixth nuclear test, how does trump respond . Go back to economics . Fire off tweets . Or a military response . Thats what makes the next 48 hours for the precarious. We are already into saturday and north korea, which is the day that they honor the grandfather, who was the founder of north korea. The day after that, the Vice President and south korea, sending an unmistakable message to allies in the region that the United States will back them up 100 no matter what the north stars. Bret we will follow it. You can see all of the developments on the fox news channel. Next step, the friday lightning round. Its President Trump or his administration moving left . Whats next for obamacare . And how badly has you look at the white house there, the battle on going inside. We told you about steve bannon versus jared kushner, the soninlaw and advisor. Rich lowry suggests from national review, and could be going left. He says, this group is all democrats, talking about kushner and gary cohn, who have marinated for decades. If jared and ivanka end up running the joint cannot be hard to overstate the turnabout from last years campaign. Cohn is the chief economic advisor. We will start there. His President Trump potentially moving left . I think there is something of a firewall there. I dont think his populist agenda is in immediate agenda because in immediate danger, even if bannon is being iced out inside the leadership battles within the white house, even if he were to make an exit, there will be populist figures who re. Stephen miller, the sessions brainchild, very influential, so i think youre going to see that there will be populist voices who keep fighting in the white house for those agenda items and outside of the white house itself, you have people like attorney general sessions, mick mulvaney, these are the kind of people who come from a populist conservative background, and they are not easily going to be a stout even iced out even with people with three more left leftlanding bend to get in trumps air. Bret the advisor during the campaign told choctaw that steve bannon didnt do a good job surrounding himself with his own types of people, and that Reince Priebus and shared kushner did a better job, but hd donald trump is his own man. I dont think this is about right or left. This is about, trump needs when. Some of the early policies in court that did not work out, you can pin health care on Reince Priebus and steve bannon, but with the travel ban on steve bannon and steve miller. Who is rising . A new guy, gary cohn. He bragged about being able to change. This is part of his campaign. I didnt think it was that flagrant. Ten issues the guy has flipped on in three months. I think that over a long period of time is concerning, but in the short period, three, six months, who can give me a win . Bret a w. I said the pentagon is always going to give you a list of ws. Lets turn quickly to obamacare and where things stand. The going that is that when Congress Comes back, they are going to try it again. The freedom caucus, republicans, different elements in terms of congress and the white house that there is renewed confidence here. They believe that they have darted the eyes and cross species if you control his federal subsidy purse strings, you control the political fate of obamacare because with saying the aca rates in 2013 going up 10 , very few people are going to see wages go up 10 next year, and as it becomes more politically toxic, it empowers trump to say, reform needed. Bret here is a representative and House Minority leader. If you remember the date when this blew up, that was not a deadline, a selfimposed deadline. The bill really wasnt ready for prime time. Hadnt developed a consensus. What has happened since then, members are talking to each other, really, the administration has done a good job. The Affordable Care act, we are saying we are happy to talk at anytime and anyplace that you abandon your monstrous repeal of the Affordable Care act. Bret the president telling the wall street journal, quote, im going to get reform done. I havent made my viewpoint clear yet. I dont want to get people hurt. I think democrats will start calling and negotiating. What trump is doing, raising the stakes on the fight. Forced lawmakers back to the table by threatening insurance subsidies for the insurance companies. I think its because he cant afford to have obamacare not to be his top domestic priority. This is an issue where republicans were not more explicit on any other promise over the last eight years than on this one. So it makes perfect sense for trump to really use whatever leverage she has to forced lawmakers to get in the room and get it done. Bret President Trump did say he could move to tax reform after the first effort failed. In that they factored into tax reform from health cares ability the big factor. This is another flip, a strategic one. He lost his hand in health care, moving on, tax reform, nothing happened. People forgot about it. No tax bill that has been endorsed by the white house yet. I think the consequence of this is that it delays tax reform probably to next year. August is not going to happen. Export it could happen to in te fall. They keep kicking it and kicking end. If he goes back to obamacare and doesnt get it a second time, man, that is two black eyes. Bret quickly united, they followed from dragging down the aisle, the whole deal . Plaid p. R. Bad p. R. Right from the outset. Allow Foreign Airlines to point to point, they will hire american workers, get more competition. Brutal and terrible, i would just say, to play devils advocate, what empowerment does Law Enforcement have when you refuse their orders on an airplane . Im not saying thats the answer, but im asking a question. If you refuse to get off the plane and a Police Officer tells you, do they have a right to remove you . To beat him. [laughter] i think they gave a really good lesson, exchange for not losing 225 million in stock value. Bret next step, winners and losers as w with the travelocity Customer First guarantee. Your only worry. Will be that one. Rogue. Cloud. Get help with hotels, free twentyfourhour flight changes, and our price match guarantee. Travelocity. Wander wisely. Bret its time for mac winners and losers with the panel wrapping up the week. John, winner or loser . U. N. Ambassador nikki haley won this week. Really defining what he was he was Foreign Policy is. Especially since she came from having a lot of state experience. She slapped down the russians from vetoing a u. N. Security council resolution. Loser this week, john they didnt get it. They are looking ahead to this tuesday, special election in georgia. They pumped a lot of money in here. Over 10 million have been spent in this race. Democrats trying to win tom prices seat, now age as as secretary. Bret winner or loser . Gary cohn is my winner. He is on the ascent in this administration, former Goldman Sachs guy who is now rumored to be a future potential chief of staff. Definitely the chief influencer, i think, in the oval office right now. Loser is poor dr. Ben carson who went to miami this week to tour public housing. The headlines that came out of it are only that he got stuck in an elevator. Bret he said sometimes you have ups and downs. Winter you have to think about the Coptic Church in egypt for what they have gone through recently. The quiet sober reflection you will see today and over the weekend. Losers . I came up with this myself. The mother of all bad weeks, the guys in the caves in afghanistan. A serious note, we shouldnt have done it. A former green beret said you have to get with the soldiers. Bret all the producers on our speci the north korean dictator is holding a celebration. Hannity is up next. Welcome to the special edition of hannity. I am in for sean tonight, i am kimberly guilfoyle. Taking a very different approach to Foreign Policy than the obama administration, tonight for the hour, we will explain how the trump doctrine is starting to take shape and what it means both here at home and abroad. The. The commander in chief Foreign Policy has dominated the headlines by drawing a line in the sand wisteria over chemical weapons, calling out to russia, taking a tough stance with north korea and dropping the mother of all bombs on isis. Lets take a look
