But i think that he, in some ways is like, you know, the old line, the establishment liberal line. Maybe, left of center. But more like the liberal line if you think of the the Washington Post as such. Nonetheless, you know, you read the column, rather than just say the bottom line is dont run, he says a lot of things that biden does. Remarkable string of wins by biden. Bret get out. No alternative at the end. He thinks because of age and the fact that so many people, including a majority of democrats worry about biden wants age, he thinks biden shouldnt run. But then he says there is no alternative. I dont get it. Bret the clock is ticking here. You have got to get on ballots, ben. You have got to do stuff, logistically if its not going to be biden or harris. He said harris shouldnt be in there either. I think David Ignatius sending the signal at this particular moment is him kind of saying you have the permission to discuss this now, washington. We can talk about it openly. And, look, i have interviewed david many times over the years. I like him, i read him, you know, every time that he writes and i think is he a very intelligent analyst. I think in this case he is speaking for a lot of people and a lot of concerns that have percolated up within washington among people who have familiarity with the president experience they may not be able to share publicly but they are very deeply concerned about. Look, we are going into an election now, the democrats have very concerned about because they believe it could herald the return of former President Trump. I think this is David Ignatius saying look, if we run into this with the same team again, there is a very high possibility, a higher possibility than we have admitted to this point that it could lead to his return. Bret this isnt the only article. Politico writes theres a call for biden to drop harris, pick a new running mate. Yes voters may think biden is too old to serve another four years. A stronger running mate would gain traction in the country or the party. A. P. 69 of democrats think biden is too old for a second term. Thats democrats, 89 of republicans. Olivia, how does this play on the hill and are they suddenly changing how they talk about the election . I think its been a gut punch and i have heard from republicans they were very giddy about this when they were talking about impeachment, they are also saying did you see that columnists piece not only because it mentions the investigations that they were doing into hunter biden and trying to connect it to joe biden, but, also, because they think that this is a sign that democrats might start waffling. Were talking about a president ial election year. And you have someone calling biden weak. The basis of that argument was we need someone who can beat donald trump. But, like juan pointed out, they dont know who comes next. And have you had people starting to poke their heads forward, do they really get traction. And you have no labels, trying to talk about putting forward a unity ticket. That hasnt really gotten picked up. The democrats and republicans dont like that idea. They feel like it will pull votes away so they are sort of in a holding pattern. Bret democrats are, it seems, politically holdings on to this Impeachment Inquiry as a possible lifeline for them. After democrats impeach President Trump over phone call with ukraines president in 2019 we wrote the house has defined impeachment down to a standard that will now make more impeachments likely well, here we are. We are here, juan. And politically its a different place. Its a very different place. The way i think of it in shorthand, is that with clinton, we had the blue dress, if you will. And, also, were a different place in terms of the politics, the suggestion that trump is influencing mccarthys effort to get this inquiry going without a full vote of the house. Bret listen, comer, chairman comer would list a whole bunch of things and they continue to gain more things in their investigation. And this is an inquiry, ben that, is going to open up more doors, the republicans say. Look, this is inquiry, its not the actual impeachment. We had inquiry under nixon. One of the things we have to keep in mind here is before the republicans took office, you know, in the house we did not know about the fact that there were more than 20 llcs set up. We did not know about the fact that there whereas more than 20 million that flowed into the family. I think for the republicans who are engaged in this, they simply want to see what more there is that they have been blocked from seeing.
