I talk to a number of your citizens and thats how they describe you. You didnt plant them. Thats really how they talk about you. And World Leaders are saying the same thing. You have had this transformational change. Every aspect of the kingdom, economic, social, cultural, religious. Can you give us some specific examples of what your goals are and how you think all of this is going . Simply we have in the past saudi arabia opportunities try to capture that and go forward for saudi arabia. Thats what we are trying to do. Bret and it is a big vision it . Is a big vision. We get like surprised every day that we reach our targeting faster and we extend that to a newer target and bigger ambition. Its exciting. Bret ministers say you work from heart. What you cant see we have the fastest g20 country growing. This year if you take we are the second fastest in the g20 growing. Saudi arabia and india. A good fight. Bret you are making a transition on trying to get different parts of the economy, not a heavy reliance on oil. The role of women in the society has evolved significantly. You know, you had this 2030, what do you see 10, 20, 30 years for saudi arabia . I will give you an example. If you look to late 70s, saudi arabia visavis bigger than south korea. And south korea is the tenth or 11th. In the world. In 2016 and 2016 we are number 20. So thats a shame. In 1980, we was 12 globally and then 2016 we are number 20. So we believe saudi arabia and really the perfect clock since that time we will be among the top globally. Im trying to get saudi arabia back on the right track. Bret you are a data guy. Today we are number 70 ranked as the largest g. D. P. In the world. G20 ranked 15 from 20. Bret g20 you mentioned it. You have really become a big player on the world stage. That g20 rail and ports deal connecting europe, the gulf nations and india, why is that such a big deal . Logistics, if you want to move goods, its important to have good logistic plan, work it with many countries, many regions to be sure that goods pass at the right time. For example, that project will cut the time of goods from india to europe by three to six days. Cut time, save money, and small safer, more efficient. So, why not . Its not only about moving goods port. Its about making grids, energy grids, data, cables. And other stuff will benefit europe, The Middle East, and also india. And most of these all of these areas are going to be green energy. Going to be able to produce middle east and export europe and india. Its a big deal for europe and for india. Bret also mentioned in this deal is israel. What would it take for you to agree to normalize relations with israel . When there is a support from President Biden administration to get to that point, for us the issue very important we need to solve that part. And we have a good negotiations continue to now. We got to see what we go. We hope that the reach a place that it will ease the life of the palestinians and get israel as a player middle east. Bret there were reports that you had suspended talks. No, no. Thats not true. Bret not true. You think if you were to characterize it, are you close . Everyday we get closer. It seems its for the first time serious. See how it goes. Bret can you make a deal with israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu . Is that somebody you can deal with . Well, in saudi arabia policy, we dont interfere with who is owning each country. We work with him. Now we dont have a relation with israel. But, if the Biden Administration maked send the end of the end of the cold war. Then we relationship. If we have a breakthrough of reaching a deal that give the palestinians their needs and make the region come, we got work with whoever is there. I dont discuss things because i want to see really a good life for the palestinians, so i want to continue the negotiation with the Biden Administration to be sure. Bret would there be a defense pact maybe between the saudi arabia and the United States and what would that would it look like article 5 in nato . First of all, we have some sort of that in the past 18 years. We are the biggest buyer from American Auto manufacturing. I believe saudi arabia bigger than the next five buyers from america. So, saudi arabia is critical in your import economically. And we have a lot of Security Military ties that really strengthen the position of saudi arabia in The Middle East and strengthen the position of america globally, especially in middle east. We dont that to be shifted. You dont want to see saudi arabia shifting the armament from america to another place. Strengthen that. It would strengthen the interest of america, interest. Military interest and economic interest and also had will save effort and headache from the saudi side of not switching to other places. Dont need to get Nuclear Weapon because you cant use it. Even if iran gets a Nuclear Weapon. Any country use Nuclear Weapon that means he are having a war with the rest of the world. The world cannot see another hhiroshima. In the world see 100,000 people dead, that means you are in a war with the rest of the world. So to use this effort to use a Nuclear Weapon. You cant use it. If you use it you are going to have a big fight with the rest of the world. Bret if you get one, will you. If they get one, we have to get one for security reason middle east. For us in saudi arabia to progress to do really great progress and great growth and creating amazing economy in saudi arabia and have close to 100 percent succeeding of what you are trying to get that mean we need stable region. To say have a stable region, you need the development in the whole region. You dont need to see problems in yemen. You need so see going really forward. See iran go really forward. You see the rest of the region Going Forward and we are walking with egypt and other places in the region and also the Global Players and allies in america to make that happen. When we are the Biggest Country in the world who gives aid to yemen in the past and today and tomorrow we want to increase that and also we want to start to invest in yemen in the comical part all sides of yemen and in the process of doing that no political agreement yet but we are trying to push all the areas forward day by day. Just a couple more things on iran. Do you think it was a good idea for the u. S. To allow iran to access that 6 billion in exchange for the five american hostages . You cant say its better policy but i would say that its a step, i hope that iranians show getting that 6 billion, getting those american backs is worth the effort because that would encourage to do more. Bret you mentioned China Brokering that with iran. That surprised some folks. Why choose china in that role . We didnt choose china. Bret chose you . China chose to be make that happen. Bret there are signs of change obviously the renewal of relations with iran brokered by china. Possibly joining brics. China is a big component of that. Is the kingdom reevaluating its security partnerships, trying to think of different ways to do it . No, no, brics is not about political alignments. If you look at the g20. You have two groups inside the g 20. The g7 and brics inside g20. We tried to join the g 7 President Trump time but some of the countries in g7 have like requirement to be part of that and we are seeing that if we continue for one decade without being part of group inside the g20 that could really create obstacles for us economically so brics is option. They invite us and we welcome that and brics is not a group against america or the west. You have allies. You have india, brazil and south africa. Also are your allies. Bret you talk to all these World Leaders. I mean, you talk to all of them. When is the last time you talked to president xi . Im not sure. Two full months. We talk a lot. Bret how do you see him . Whats he like . Well, he is trying to do the best for china. And he have all the right to do that. He is a leader of a country and he wants his country to succeed and to grow and he have more than 1 billion people. You dont need to see china failing. If you see china feeling its around 15, 14 of the g. D. P. Its around 15 to 20 of the world population. That country falls, everyone on the planet falls, even america. Bret yeah. You know, obviously there is a lot of concern in the u. S. About taiwan. As you know president xi, when it comes to that issue, what do you think his vision 2030 is . We believe in one china and believe america believing in that. There is few arrangement there. I believe the chinese is respecting that to now and look forward how it goes. Bret what about russia . You deal with president putin, whats your thought about russia inside ukraine . What is happening there something bad dont want to see continue vationd a country something against the rules of the u. N. Saudi vote against that. Excuse why they did that. Expanding the nato, et cetera, their list of excuse. But invading a country is really bad. Saudi arabia we have a Good Relationship with russia and also good relation with ukraine. Amazing and critical trade with ukraine and russia. So for us we try to do our best to push for solve this problem. Bret you tried to host peace talks. Russia didnt come. But, i wanted to ask you about supporting russia. I spoke to your Energy Minister who was fantastic, prince abdulazeez about your decision for Oil Production cuts. And he told me that it was based on volatility and trying to stabilize the market. There are some supporters of continue doing that and prices spiking have you essentially boosted russias war effort at a time when the country every country, a lot of countries are trying to squeeze him to get out of ukraine. How do you deal with that . You are talking about support of ukraine. How about the president of the ukraine . What did he say . And if we are doing a deal to support russia, iran is part of the country and at that time iran was dont have that alliance we have today. We are supporting iran at that time. Bret it is coming up on the five Year Anniversary of the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and your consulate in turkey. U. S. Intelligence reported to you as ordering that attack. I have heard you address this several times saying you didnt order the murder, saying it was horrible and a mistake and that as a leader you take responsibility as a leader of the country. But, five years later, what do you tell people in the u. S. Who still have concerns and journalists may be Around The World and maybe potential tourists who would come here to sindalah that they wonder if anything changed or if it could happen again . Well, we take all the legal measurements that any country took like when america had in iraq, investigation, trial, we did that in saudi arabia and the case being closed. And also we tried to reform the Security System to be sure that these kind of mistakes doesnt happen again. And we cant see in the past five years nothing of those things happen. Its not something saudi arabia do. And last 100 year. It was a mistake. It was painful. And we are trying our best to be sure that we are far more to walk by the book and to be sure that everyone is safe. Not just sawedy, the whole globe. Did anyone involved in the killing serve jail time . Yes, serve jail time. Have to face the law. You are trying to change the law broadly broadly to sentencee realistic . More realistic for us saudi, not for foreign people. But we believe today its far away [inaudible] saudi. We are not proud of all of our laws in saudi arabia. Bret there was in a. P. Associated press article that just came out a couple weeks ago with the headline that said saudi man receives Death Penalty for posts online. Latest case in wide ranging crackdown on descent. I desdealing with his post on x, formerly twitter. So, one, is that true . And, two, are you changing that aspect . Yeah. Shamely its true. Somethingy like. Bret cant you change that. We are doing our best to deal with that. We already have a few laws. Changes tens of laws in saudi arabia. The list have more than 1,000 items. In the cabinet they have only 150 lawyers. Im trying to prioritize the change day by day but we are not happy with that we are ashamed of that, but the to follow the laws and i cannot tell a judge that do that and ignore the law because that will thats against the rule of law. Do we have bad laws . Yes. We are changing that, yes. Bret do you think that guy is going to get killed for the post . I believe there is a few steps and trials. Im hoping that the next phase of trials the judge there is more experienced and they might look at it totally different. Bret recently in the u. S. Rerememberred the 22nd Anniversary of the 9 11 attacks. As you know 15 of the 19 hijackers were saudis. And the 9 11 victims families, you know, they make their feelings clear, especially around the anniversary that they believe there is intelligence that somehow links the saudi government to supporting or facilitating those hijackers. What do you say to those 9 11 families 22 years later . Im very sorry that anyone lose anyone in anyones family. No one wants to lose their family especially in a way like that. Yes, there were 15 saudis being planned by Usama Bin Laden. Usama bin laden planned a lot of attacks inside saudi arabia. It doesnt make any sense that we work with a guy who is doing Terrorist Attacks in saudi arabia in the 1990s and after that and Killing Saudis and foreign people tad in saudi arabia. He is a war enemy and american enemy. The man for Usama Bin Laden and by reports. The recruit as much as they can he can saudis to be sure that he create a problem between america and saudi arabia. Mostly i try to follow whats really affecting saudi arabia. But i follow sometime american politics. Bret is it hard to deal with the u. S. When the administrations change every four to eight years and maybe Foreign Policy changes . Well, sometimes, you know, changes is any country always create like lets say a period of negotiation. So, we are used to that any legislation change in america we start to negotiate what we have together. And obstacles wanted these plan to work in the next few years. Bret you had a Good Relationship with former President Trump and then president and his administration. You know, there is several investigations right now with President Biden and his son hunter the money he took in from a cou Country Company in ukraind china. I was with my family, brothers, wives, their kids you, watching the game actually we just want to get out from this game with no we get surprised. Bret it fired up people here. I talked to a ton of them. They were really excited. Do you think football, soccer in the u. S. Is changing the dynamic here that its almost another National Identity . When we want to inspire the economy, you have to work in all sectors mining, manufacturing, logistics. Part of it is tourism. On the October 3rd Hearing that hunter biden has to have, his lawyers are asking for him to be able to do it by zoom because he doesnt want to go and disrupt things in delaware. Think about what President Trump has had to go through in terms of stopping traffic and all these different places they have been indicted. If they let hunter biden do that by zoom, it would be wrong.
