Okay, lets start the show. Tom protesters at congressional town halls this week question the legitimacy of President Trump. While he questioned theirs. The president tweeted on tuesday the socalled angry crowds in home districts of some republicans are actually in numerous cases planned out by liberal activists. Sad. Members of congress are on recess, where they visit with their constituents and play a little tetherball. Republican lawmakers so far arent getting a warm welcome at home. [laughter] constituents have been confronting them at town Hall Meetings, angry over everything from the g. O. P. Plan to repeal obamacare, trumps travel ban, russias alleged meddling with our election, brad and angelinas divorce, and more. [crowd chanting] why have you not signed hr356 . I dont stand for the repeal of the Affordable Care act. The veterans are broken down, theyre not getting what they need. If you can answer any of that ill sit down and shut up like elizabeth warren. [crowd chanting] [laughter] tom boo, indeed. Well, that is on amazing jimmy, whats going on . Why did they even have these meetings, they dont seem to be very productive. Its definitely a strategy, protesting before the voting took place before. You could get rich if you had a protester dating app. Its ridiculous, just shut up. I dont get any of this. Tom theyre trying to affect change. I dont think theyre doing that, i think its coming off as the dog barking. Its a facebook wall come to life, everyone is venting their anger but theres no sort of focus anymore. Its not effective, everyone thinks its being effective. As we saw with occupy wall street, how effective was that . It wasnt. In defense of occupy wall street, they did have the best catering of any protest ever. I went down to cover it and i gained 4 pounds. Tom they think theyre focused, dont they . They think theyre super focus, i keep getting emails. I teach a class, i keep getting emails from the school saying they are having classes just to teach people how to organize. Which of bravo to them, if professors want to go ahead and do that with their time thats great, and im happy for that. However, 90 of the protesters out there are not going to those classes, they dont know what theyre doing, they are just shouting. Its ineffective. They become like agitators. The problem is for those that have legitimate concerns, if they get overlooked by these nut jobs, some of these republican districts, you have more people showing up to protest than actually voted or are the population there. Theyre literally not from there, do you know what i mean . Tom there was one protester, the woman was citing a specific thing that she wanted to pass. She does have an agenda, right . She has an agenda, but look at the overall message and hostility thats coming out of these people, they need to shut up already and focus. Its gone from, no matter what, how a lot of these hardcore hard left will not approve of anything trump does. Its gone from not listening to trump to republicans in general. I dont think you should tell anyone to shut up, i think people should say stuff, its great. Its also performative. Do you want to be that americas next top outraged human . This really small group of people have weapon eyes their identities, their freedom is measured by how many haters they have, everyone rallies around them. People like us have to laugh at them instead of actually having no more joe the plumbers. He never did anything like this. Everyone wants to be joe the plumber. Thats a problem. Tom there is no one striving for that middle, but james, its interesting. I thought you were going to sais and they will protest being the heart of democracy or some thing like that. Politics in america is always going to be this sort of disgusting spectacle that makes us want to kill ourselves. If we give into that vision completely, then we are not going to be able to have productive conversations about the issues. More that we are all sort of trying to perform political outrage. The more we are going to want to just punch each other. Its so ineffective. Town Hall Meetings have become the new hamilton. Its impossible to get tickets, but if you are allowed inside you to lecture a politician. This is a congress in from california, he hasnt attended any of these town halls because he doesnt want the abuse. Some of his constituents have put a space on milk jugs. They put it in refrigerators, hes missing. I think thats brilliant. Do you know what kind of milk it is . Its not whole milk or mans milk . What is mans milk . Know your audience. Almond milk and mans milk. [laughter] its 3 00 a. M. Its not a protein shake, okay. The best discovery since tang, a new system that might be able to support life. Nasa says they found planet or breeding eight dwarf star. Their names are happy, grumpy, sleepy, bashful, dopey, and dock. Im only kidding, of course, theyre named after the telescope used to study the dwarf star. The stars mass smaller and less intense than our own star. Its what astronomers call an ultracool dwarf. They are not only about the same size as earth, but they also have climates, rocky services, and maybe even oceans. Making them an excellent candidate to support life. This discovery gives us a hand that finding a second earth is not just a matter of if, but when. Okay. Tom late wednesday, there was footage of the service of one of the planets. [laughter] it freaky. Tom i think that was the dwarf star. James, this is very interesting. Seven new planets. There should be people on all of them, we need mars, man. Tom you do want to explore other planets . Yes, 100 . Technology is this massive weapon that can be pointed into all of these do direct directions. Black mirror, terrible dystopian world. How can we do something with technology that lets us be human. Go to mars, people can walk around with exoskeletons, build stuff. Live out that fantasy and a very real way, and thats sort of step 12 going off to live. Tom i dont know about this, jimmy. I want to live here. I feel like im doing coke with the elon musk. I like your analysis. Tom the seven planets. Whats interesting is everybody is like aliens are going to come here. I dont like aliens want to come here. I think they would get halfway here and see everybody looking at their phones and tweeting nonsense and say these people are ridiculous, for lack of a better term and fly away. Thats why we have to get off of our phones and onto mars. Good point, elon. I know i dont see my the kind of guy who reads the whole story but i did read the whole story. One of the telescopes is impressive, it was originally designed to spot hookers. Tom his dad had a lot of money. I really did google it. To figure out which spitzer. I think there are a few of them. Were going to send illegal aliens back to this planets, were going to send it ted cruz. Theyre going to go back to their home country. It wasnt because i mentioned cocaine . They can figure out a way for me to travel at 40 lightyears of speed without me dying on the way over there, or even just a year or two into it, yeah, totally. Last week, icelands president weighed into the debate finally. He said he was fundamentally opposed to pineapple pizza. If you could, he would ban it. Social media, he was hailed as a hero for his bold stance, but then like every other politician, he brought back his comments. He wrote on facebook on the controversy, i like pineapple but not on pizza. I do not have the power to make laws that forbid people to put pineapple on their pizza. I am glad i do not have that power. I would not want to hold this position if i could pass laws forbidding that which i dont like. I would not want to live in such a country. I guess big pineapple got to hi him. They are dangerous people. I do want to say this, that is the most serious topic ive seen a president tweet about in the last two months, the pineapple scandal. Tom youre not kidding. That wasnt a joke. Good on him, i think pineapple on pizza is blasphemy. Listen, i pick my battles, but i would propose the Death Penalty for anyone that pronounces pizza as za. I dont know any of those people. I eat it with a fork and knife. Tom you want to weigh in on this . Is pineapple okay on pizza . I think he had to step back because you know trump, the next time he was going after hawaii was going to say that even iceland is not going to be importing any pineapples and that theyre taking away the pineapple production jobs out of hawaii, so he had to back off because it wouldve been china for jobs, iran with nuclear weapons, and iceland with pineapple. Tom i thought we were going to get to the story without trump but there he is right in the middle. I think you can eat pineapple pizza but its got to be in the right place. Its not good for iceland, thats where you have fish on pizza. Thats where they needed the most. Seafood on pizza, i think it needs to be outlawed that people put vegan cheese on pizza. Tom vegan cheese, its like hiring a hooker to you dont do that. I totally know what thats like. Tom do you think he was being intolerant with the pineapple . I dont think he was being intolerant. Tom you pulled the vegans they couldnt have their own pizza. I can sometimes sway over to the vegan aside when im trying to keep a girlish figure, but pizza is sacred. We need a variety of pizzas in the world, the convergence of desire where everyone all around the world has the same experience and they want to drive the same car, it makes the world a smaller and more boring place. A freshman said i know many people who use them on their doors and it brightens our peoples day. Way to go, parker. My door has become a Gathering Place for discussion as well as lowquality humor, which always seems to brighten up residence days. Lowquality humor, and he seems like my kind of guy. Its important to note in this case and in many others, its not the students who are the snowflakes, its the administration. This generation of young people gets a bad rap for being overly sensitive, but is more often than not, the crackdowns on free speech come from the gen xers and the baby boomers and that make up the faculty and administration offices. They could use one of my whiteboard messages. You are nodding your head, do young people get the blame for the snowflakes think . Its a giveandtake, its a mindset that people want their safe spaces now, theyre all sissy sallies as far as im concerned. College is supposed to be a great safe space, but thats not the way life works. I hate this and thats part of the reason why youre seeing a divisive country is much as we are, especially in the educational system. Tom because they can have their whiteboards . There trying to stop speech, they want us all to have gag balls. Its kind of like a saturday night at your place. We cannot stress ourselves at all anymore, and if you do your offending somebody else. Shut up and get on with your life. Its not that bad. Tom i think thats a first time youve told americans shut up. I think you need to create your own safe spaces in your own life for your own friends that you really care about, organic, artisanal safe spaces, not one that are created by big snowflake. Tom what are students going to do . They want to have their whiteboards, now they can even have them. They can even announce sometimes you have to be a little weird and creepy. Sometimes you can be nice or sweet, when people are free to create their own spaces where they can make their own rules, sometimes you can violate the boundaries. Its true, man, administrators always understand that. I went to college in the 90s, you just put whatever you wanted on the whiteboard and people responded or not responded. I also went to an all womens college. Tom whered you go . I went to Smith College. I dont think any of them are watching right now. Tom used whiteboards them, do you use them in your life now question work my husband and i write notes to each other on whiteboards. Some of those messages i get very offended by, i want him to take those down and im just kidding. We do use the whiteboards, but its messaging. Its like a live a facebook wall. I dont understand why everyone is getting so offended. Its their job. Its not all bad things going o on. I went to a university and brought my number on all of those. You tried. Tom its interesting, this is one area where at least theyre not online. We should be encouraging them to be writing on the whiteboards because there are at least not an app. Theyre just going to write it on the doors anyway, its just going to lead to vandalism. This is a weird story for me because i went to Community College in the dorms were our cars. No more neon around the license plates. Where training people to get offended, were creating a society that no one can stand. No ones ever been to a party and been like oh, wow, i cant wait for the guy who gets offended every thing to show up. Youve never had that experience, and thats why i think they need to take the power back from the administrators. By the way, i look like the ghost of christmas future trying to scare you. I would have more respect for her if she didnt practice actually going on that building before, you saw the video prior to, they did a lot of practice runs. The guidance from the white house last may sparked a string of lawsuits after the administration threatened to pull funding from any school that refused to follow it. 13 states sued the administration which argued that
