She said she wanted to be something different, and she did not pick your candidate to get behind. At least not yet. She we would have loved to have her interest Bernie Sanders today. I think that is something that is her movement, too. You see so many of prominent surrogates come out today saying they are supporting Bernie Sanders because they cannot see themselves supporting joe biden, who has taken more money from the credit card industry that Elizabeth Warrens fighting. That he is taking monopoly money, something that she is fighting. That he has been the architect of the criminal justice bill. Excuse me, of the 90s. The harm done my corbel criminal laws of the 90s that put one in three black men in jail. This is joe biden, its a very different race and Elizabeth Warrens race. When you look at the supporters of the platform Elizabeth Warren, it is so closely aligned with Bernie Sanders. I think we all wanted to see a progressive woman in the white house. I think she has a Bright Future ahead of her. She has a lot of the same supporters that Bernie Sanders has. I think moving forward she will need those supporters because she is the leader of this party. I hope as a leader she courageously steps up and shows her strength as a leader in siding with Bernie Sanders and creating a progressive front against the racist, monopolistic, neoliberal policies of joe biden that are not very different than Donald Trumps. Harris let me guess, if your candidate, Bernie Sanders, doesnt make it out of the nominating process, youre not going to back joe biden from what you just said. I think we need some soulsearching. Harris what does that mean . Listen, right now Bernie Sanders is the only candidate that has a movement on the ground to defeat donald trump. Just because joe biden got a bunch of endorsements and some support that came to him in the last minute, that shows he has weak support. Joe biden doesnt have millions of small dollar donations, millions of people knocking on doors. He had a good week, but Bernie Sanders has been building a movement for the last five years. I think theres a lot of room for Bernie Sanders to take this nomination. We hope it doesnt go to the convention, thats not good for anybody. Look, as we look at what Elizabeth Warren just did or did not do, and you lay out the case for Bernie Sanders, why not endorse him at this point . When i give head that youre going to do that . You know a lot of these candidates so its fair for me to ask what you think. I think she does need time. This is a very emotional experience, as you saw during her press conference right now. I hope and i think that she will do whats right. She is a leader and people look to leaders to step up and be courageous, and for guidance. She is somebody who was elected and supported by a lot of the Bernie Sanders support is. People made phone calls and give her money as well as Bernie Sanders pay lets not forget. The people for bernie, the organization, used to be people for Elizabeth Warren. We wanted her to run in 2016 and she didnt. I think it is in her best interest moving forward as a leader in the senate and possibly even another president ial candidate in the future, or Vice President ial candidate, to have a united progressive front. I hope in the coming days because there isnt a lot of time she takes the lead from her supporters who are already coming out online and saying they are supporting Bernie Sanders. Harris heres Bernie Sanders on a running mate, by the way. Would you consider asking her to be running mate . Its too early to talk about that. Certainly have a lot of respect for senator warren, and would love to sit down and talk to her about what kind of role she can plan our administration. Harris nomiki, i just want to say, that was from an interview last night in which Bernie Sanders also said he had spoken with Elizabeth Warren and they had a good conversation. Your reaction to it sanders just said . I think a Bernie SandersBernie SandersElizabeth Warren ticket would be very hard for joe biden to beat. That is the future of the party. Actually, thats the current state of the party. Joe biden is the past of the party. If you want to move forward and see a different message and a movement on the ground to defeat Donald Trumps unified republican movement, we have to go for the candidates and not the guy being propped up by superdelegates and establishment people doing political trading. When you look at the stats, and theyve been pretty consistent, and you put that person up against a republican, that topic doesnt do very well, democratic socialist. Joe biden himself has said Bernie Sanders as we would call in europe a socialist democrat, which is actually quite centrist. 70 of americans are in favor of medicare for all, and that is his key issue right now. This is what america is dealing with right now and thats what hes representing. But joe biden himself has said that Bernie Sanders is a social democrat, which is what they have in europe. He went after Supreme Court justices neil gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, warning that they will pay the price if they uphold a louisiana law increasing abortion restriction. Schumer said today that his comments were taken the wrong way. Watch. Im from brooklyn. We speak in strong language. I shouldnt have used the words i did, but in no way was i making a threat. I never, never would do such a thing. Later mcconnell knows that, and republicans who were busy manufacturing outrage over these comments know that, too. Harris chief Justice John Roberts issued a rebuke to schumer over the initial remarks, saying justice is no criticism comes with the territory. But threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell also said schumers comments crossed the line. The minority leader of the United States senate threatened two associate justices of the u. S. Supreme court, period. There is no other way to interpret that. These kinds of threats are sadly nothing new from Senate Democrats. President trump tweeted this morning, schumer has brought great danger to the steps of the United StatesSupreme Court, and the majority leader called out s morning on the senate floor. Since then, Senate Democrats have been asked about their leaders controversial comments. Im very pleased and very happy that it didnt pull chuck down to the level where the president will never back off or apologize. So weve got to rise above this. Im happy to see that he has. A Senate Republican said schumer should face the censure for those controversial comments. We should rule differently here, you should change your view there. It was a direct personal threat, and he did it again. Hes not a dumb guy, he did this very deliberately, and it was wrong. Ive criticized Supreme Court justices for some of the rulin rulings. The use to criticize them by name. Thats fine. Thats not what schumer did. Harris brendan . I think thats absolutely right. Theres nothing wrong with criticizing the court. People did all the time. Barack obama famously did it to their faces in the state of the union address. That is far different than what Chuck Schumer did, he went way outofbounds. Good for Justice Roberts for speaking out and defending the court. Now, one of the things, i think why republicans know they have an advantage here, is one of the main arguments democrats have been trying to make is that they are the party of norms. They are the party its going to bring back some level of civility to politics. When you have not just a backbencher but the leader of the Senate Democrats going out there and making crazy threats, that totally undercuts your argument. Now, i understand why Chuck Schumer is upset on issues related to the judiciary. Mitch mcconnell is mopping the floor with him on judges every day, putting in place new judges for life. So i understand why hes upset. But theres no reason to do this. Way outofbounds. Im glad hes getting called out for it from all sides. Harris does this work for you, richard . Im from brooklyn. In the clarification that senator schumer didnt mean to threaten anyone. Ive seen a lot of democrats today say, you know what . Theyre going to denounce it. He did not sit himself. Because when its donald trump calling out the ninth circuit because they dont agree with him on immigration, or a judge in indiana who he calls a mexican, or a judge in the roger stone case, or sonia sotomayor, or ruth bader ginsburg, who trump attacked on ruling case that involves him. Its funny that roberts hasnt called him out for that. Harris wait, i want to give brendan a chance to answer to that. As of the same thing, as saying there is a price to pay . I certainly dont think so, obviously not. That is criticizing the court on rulings. That is making a judgment on whether or not someone can weigh in on a case without bias. Thats complete different than saying there is going to be personal consequences, that everyone, left, right, and center, has interpreted as a direct threat. I think Chuck Schumer should have been a little more honest about what he was saying, coming out and blaming the republican misinformation machine or Something Like that. It was very obviously dont like obvious we did dont lie about what you are saying. Again, when he said you will pay a price, he was saying and not you, gorsuch, or you, kavanaugh. Public Health Officials taking no chances with the grand princess, keeping the ship anchored offshore while they investigate a cluster of cases linked to a recent cruise, and testing those 21 people who are on the ship now and showing flulike symptoms. We are going to be flying testing kits to the cruise ship, and we are going to be sending those quickly back, primarily to richmond, at the library will be able to test very quickly within just a few hours those samples to determine whether these individuals that are symptomatic just have traditional cold or flu, or may have contracted the virus. This come after those on a cruise to mexico contracted the virus, including a man who died yesterday outside of sacramento. Like the ten people who died near seattle, he was elderly, 71, and had Underlying Health conditions. Where and how he contracted the virus is unclear. The ship returned from the mexican riviera on february 21st, and set sail later the same day for hawaii with more than 3,000 passengers and crew. 62 people took the two cruises backtoback, and they are now in quarantine. Princess cruise lines saying, in an abundance of caution, these guests and other potential close crew contacts have been asked to remain in their state room still screened by our onboard medical team. The grand princess was scheduled to return here to San Francisco on saturday. That is probably optimistic. What will we may see another quarantine, like we saw with the diamond princess cruise ship passengers, either on the ship were at Travis Air Force base. Do we need to rethink some of that as consumers . Well, one of the things we really need to think about is something that, in the epidemiology world, we call social distancing. If you stay further than 6 feet apart, the chance of getting exposed to something that is transmitted through droplet transmission so she sneeze, cough, you can spread viruses about 6 feet apart. So if you are further apart than that, its harder to transmit the virus. Clearly if you are on the cruise ship, a plane, at a concert, you are a lot closerpacked than that. So the options for transmission are a lot a lot higher. Harris or a cruise ship, as we are finding. Talk about quarantine and what really needs to happen here. We have reports here on the east coast of at least one person breaking quarantine and possibly spreading the virus that way. Should we be concerned that we arent keeping people long enough or need to watch them differently . What needs to happen . In quarantine you are really doing your best to do that social distancing. You are isolating people who have potential exposures and keeping their germs to themselves and their confined area. In fact, it is stringent quarantine in wuhan that you saw a kind of break the back of the exponential transmission growth in china. Now, that said, that is really draconian to do that kind of very strict quarantine over a large population. So, figuring out how we can help people do what they know is right, which is to stay home, and at the same time the make se they have things like food in the house, thats the challenge and our economy here in the u. S. To be when im, also , to strains the reason curious, one is said to be much more contagious, potentially, as the virus has mutated, then the other. With that, keep making a vacci vaccine . What are the conversations that you know of, at least, or have looked at, that could be happening right now when Elizabeth Warren says she wants to just take a breath before she decides who she is going to back . Yeah, i dont think we will be seeing any endorsement from Elizabeth Warren anytime soon. We saw her remarks just a little while ago where she said she is taking some time to decompress and not necessarily make a decision on that front. Look, Bernie Sanders has a challenge in terms of getting warrens endorsement. He doesnt have a lot of leverage. He is trailing now in the delegate count and he is not expecting to do well in the upcoming primaries both next tuesday on the week after. If Elizabeth Warren wants to get something from her president ial campaign, Bernie Sanders is not going to have a lot to offer. He would have had more to offer perhaps a little while ago, but warren decided to stick in the race. Didnt finish and even second place in any state in the entire country, so she doesnt have a lot of leverage, and Bernie Sanders doesnt have a lot to give her. Harris you so he stayed on too long. We saw Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg getting out before voters went to the polls for super tuesday. I want to talk to you if we can about gender, because warren brought that up in her comments outside her home a little while ago. Lets watch. Gender in this race, you know that is the trap question for every woman. If you say, yeah, there was sexism in this race, everybody says, whiner and if you say, no, there was no sexism, about a billion women think, what planet do you live on . Harris and she promised she would not be quite about this going forward. Do democrats need to look at putting a woman as Vice President on any ticket that makes it through the nominating process . I think if joe biden is the nominee it is very likely we will have a woman on the ticket. Harris would it be her . I dont think it will be Elizabeth Warren. I think shes in a little bit of denial with the gender factor causing her the nomination and not her ideology. She made a huge strategic mistake from the beginning of the campaign to try and outprogressive Bernie Sanders. To try and match them to the left at every opportunity, instead of finding space in the more pragmatic lane that joe biden was occupying. She alienated a lot of these middleoftheroad democratic voters who might have otherwise looked to her. She was far too far to the left and i think she really winning votes, which lost her the campaign. Harris i know how important authenticity is to likability. That she was going to try to right in the middle. She said she was looking for a third lane. She said that today outside her garage in cambridge, massachusetts.
