We are burning a woman in san antonio, texas, who tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus was actually let go by officials back into the community, potentially to spread. Now, Governor Greg Abbott of texas is supposedly serious about this. These are the reports coming in. Hes living officials there. They are looking into it to find tonio was released into the population. Harris, i was at a News Conference this week and at the white house, and thats what health and Human Services health and Human Services secretary alex azar made it clear the risk to the public is low but expect to see more cases pop up. This is not going to just disappear at the end of this week. This morning, Governor Andrew Cuomo confirmed the first new yorker to test positive for coronavirus is a 39yearold woman. Governor cuomo held a News Conference late this morning. He said the womans condition is mild. The good news she is home, she is not hospitalized. We learned this woman is a Health Care Worker who was in iran, came back to new york. She took no Public Transportation to newark. Iran is one of those areas where the coronavirus is concentrated. Cuomo says it does not appear she was contagious on the flight back home, but officials will Contact People on that flight. Governor cuomo told new yorkers, to be smart, pay attention. But it all means do not panic. Listen. We should relax, because thats what is dictated by the reality of the situation. I get the emotion. I understand it, i understand it entirely. I am a native born new yorker. We live with anxiety. But the facts dont back it up here. Governor cuomo praised the federal government for allowing new york to do its own testing, so officials there dont have to go through federal cdc officials to do testing there. He says it gives his state more control. Health officials including those at the centers for disease control, which i just mentioned, and the National Institutes of health, they are working to find a vaccine. A man in his 50s with prior medical issues sadly passed away from the coronavirus over the weekend. Another death reported over this weekend, but Officials Say if you are moderately healthy you should be okay. Wash your hands, dont touch her face, et cetera. A congressional source, harris, behind me on capitol hill, told fox news the following as it relates to the coronavirus. At this point, the coronavirus has not had a broad impact on the u. S. Economy, and its effects have been limited. However, chairman grassley in the Senate Finance committee stand ready to respond if that becomes necessary in the extentf the problem can be determined. Originally the white house proposed 2. 5 billion to combat coronavirus, but President Trump said last week he would be willing to do more if necessary. Harris . Harris david, thank you very much. What we just learned right before this hour started just moments ago is that people who have been put in quarantine off the diamond princess in texas are now being held at bay after this whole san antonio mix up with letting a patient go early. What do you make of it . There is still a lot we dont know about this. Wow virus. It goes to show you that we are still learning every single day. In terms of how infectious the patient is, and if they are given a clean bill of health, during discharge. What it may look like. I think from a Public Health care standpoint, we still need to get some more information. We want to rely on the experts who are making decisions. Harris are beholding people long enough . This quarantine, already the people off that ship had finished their two weeks required. We are also hearing about instances where people dont even show symptoms necessarily. It could be up to two weeks, or longer. The incubation period for this particular virus is 14 days. Between anywhere from 56 days is when people tend to show signs and symptoms paired that obviously can vary. There is still a lot we dont know. Harris harris its individual. Exactly. With an incubation period, 14 days is what were seeing seeing and abiding by. Obviously a lot of these decisions can be made casebycase. It depends on your spectrum of illness, where you fall. This is where we need to collaborate at us from Health Care Systems with our Public Health colleagues and make sure we are all in lockstep. Harris dr. Madad, i want to put kind of a focus on something. We heard it from new york Governor Cuomo today. We are hearing it from other officials, too, about how people are testing positive for coronavirus. Showing symptoms, but able to have them care for themselves, isolated at home. Meaning the symptoms arent so overbearing yet. We dont know, we have to watch. Is that a positive sign . It is, actually. Its a very positive sign. What we know is 80 of the cases, or more, are mild. As you can hear from the cases here in new york and other cases elsewhere, that people are actually able to selfisolate and stay home and care for themselves. They dont really have to seek Health Care Services unless its warranted. Unless they go into a more severe spectrum of illness, if you will. That obviously is a silver lining. Similarly, with common cold and seasonal flu, thats what it feels like. Some people come when you have comical and the seasonal flu, do we go seek health care . A lot of times we dont because we can take care of ourselves at home. Its one of those things. Harris interesting. I heard it from two different leaders today. So i thought, is it a trend line . Dr. Anthony fauci, a member of the White House Coronavirus task force, says this about the outbreak today. We are seeing the beginning of Community Spread which, as you mentioned, is really quite concerning. Because when you have Community Spread you dont know the real source, the index case of where its coming from. Which makes the idea and the concept and the implementation of Contact Tracing much more difficult. Harris one of the brightest minds to be put on all of this. You know, youve studied pathogens. Dr. Fauci. What do you make of what hes saying . Its not surprising. The number one thing i want to state to the general public is, lets not panic. This is something we expected. We knew we would have Community Transition here. In fact, within the next 40 days and weeks will see an increase f her cases. We are starting to detect these cases. We have the diagnostic and mobility. This is not something new so we shouldnt panic over it. At the same time, this is obviously a global concern. We have both at the local, state, and federal level people doing amazing work at trying to obviously come about this particular infectious disease. We are hearing, the majority are going to be mild infections. When i talk about the silver lining, theres going to be a number of individuals that basically will not warrant the need to go to a health care service. You are showing obviously telling folks this is not a very severe disease in that sense. But again, theres a lot we dont know. Harris doctor, before i let you go, i mentioned to her viewers they may recognize you from the netflix show pandemic. Why is that word important to apply to any situation . Why does that change things . What is it exactly, different from what we are experiencing, say, with the flu . Which feels pandemiclike this year. Youre absolutely right. The word pandemic does not necessarily mean its a severe event. People i met a good thing, my god. Its apocalyptic, if you will. We use this word, for example, the h1 and one sliding down excellently. Recall that a pandemic but it was in mild flu season, she will. If you compare it to that flu season, the harris which have now. 2017, we have 81,000 americans die of seasonal flu. During the pandemic of h1n1, 12,000 americans. It was mild, doesnt mean its a severe event. While he say this is a pandemic event, we still dont know whether its going to be severe, mild, or moderate. Thats what you seen out of Pete Buttigieg, that we need to consolidate behind one candidate who is not Bernie Sanders. As it looks like increasingly its either Bernie Sanders, a contested convention, and thats how its going to go. Harris wow. I hear its palpitating among some democrats who tell me, no, dont do it a new usa today poll is showing sanders has a doubledigit lead in california, which has four to 15 pledge delegates up for grab on super tuesday. We will take a peek at that, i think. What do you make of that, bret . Well, its significant. He has a big, big advantage among latino voters. We saw it in nevada. It is translating in california. California, as you mentioned, is a huge delegate haul. Its all math, adding up to 991 delegates. Increasingly, as time goes on, and this pie gets sliced, different pieces of it in different states, it seems like no one might get to that number before milwaukee and the convention. Its possible, we will have to see. Super tuesday will tell us a lot. 38 of the delegates on the table. Harris who gets Pete Buttigiegs voters and his supporters, just based on what we know about the demographics . The makeup of who follows whom . Surprisingly its pretty split up. If asked the question, second choice, there are 20 plu plus percent to go for Bernie Sanders. 19 go for joe biden. Then you split down the row, Mike Bloomberg, Amy Klobuchar, still in the race. And they get some of those second choice Pete Buttigieg voters. Harris i want to take a look at this, the president on twitter saying Pete Buttigieg is out. All of his super tuesday votes will go to sleep he joe biden. Great timing. This is the real beginning of the dems taking bernie out of play. No nomination again. The president has said that he sees himself and Bernie Sanders maybe a little a kin to one another in terms of their base, although the president said his base is bigger. When you hear him talk about bernie getting pushed out again, what do you say . I would say he likes to stir the pot, obviously, on his twitter account. He likes to start the pod inside the democratic circles. Listen, if you are a sanders supporter, that is a real fear that he is tapping into there. Thats a real concern for democrats moving forward, that he hasnt been able to expand his base. He hasnt been able to show what he would do for down ballot races. Comments like this are going to play out in the general election should there be a nominee. Harris wow, really connect im going to play Bernie Sanders. Really, you dont think its all the socialist remarks and how thats never stacked up to President Trump and one on one poll matching . David . Democrats are fearful. What Bernie Sanders has done, he has exposed to the light of day four of the americans out there who have been concerned about the leftward lurch of the democrat party. Bernies coming is and as i was on full display. On super tuesday, when its over, 1499 delegates i believe thats account that will be allocated. If he gets halfway through that, where he is now versus where he is after super tuesday, the democrats have a problem. Bloomberg has bought up the rest. Biden will eventually fade into obscurity, i predict. Because he simply doesnt have what it takes to make it through, and he may claim South Carolina because of jim clyburns support and older black democrat voters, but that wont translate well in california, texas, and other areas where bernie has energy and bloomberg has resources. Harris lets take a look at these numbers now. You are looking at socialism trailing far behind capitalism by 26 points. Look at that, of capitalism favorable, 56 . 28 for socialism. The big problem for the democrats, zach, you guys might have to sell this. What do you tell people . [laughs] i dont think we do. I disagree with my colleague on this. I think sanders has a four and a ceiling thats basically the same thing, maybe a third of the democratic electorate. Over half of the electorate self identifies as moderate or conservative. Thats why sanders is not win in a one on one race. 70 of these voters didnt vote for him, itll continue to play out that way. We will see as it sends out. Harris i want to scoot in and do this quickly. So, is this an open door for joe biden . Does he have the steam, the heat to bring forward . Or is this perhaps some oxygen for a real capitalist like bloomberg . David . Its more of an opportunity for bloomberg. Lets face it, joe biden, 44 years in washington, d. C. , has been promising to deliver and he hasnt. South carolina is Black Country for democrats. That is their primary base. But that base was split between the older black democrat voters and the younger black democrat voters, who dont know where to go. The younger ones dont. The older ones went with biden, but that just doesnt carry across the country. Bloomberg has bought the resources, to add, the digital. He has brought down mike bought it in large part and hes done it since the midterms, 100 million to the midterms, two and half Million Dollars in virginia during the battle, thee is leading. Bloomberg is acquiring delegates at the state level. Harris interesting. Im telling you, this is going to be a bloomberg versus bernie. But afghan forces. Maybe because the Afghan Government rejected that taliban prisoner release. We spoke with a former taliban official. His name is they will go forward with new talks. Listen to his take on it. What is agreed upon in the agreement, it would be abided by. And they will fulfill all these conditions. Including the release of these prisoners . Harris and we are coming in with breaking news now, some more Movement Among the Democratic Candidates as Amy Klobuchar of minnesota has announced that she will suspend her campaign and she is going to in fact endorse one of the other candidates. A woman dropping out of the field that was already so thirsty for some diversity, zach friend, to put a fine point on it. Amy klobuchar is out. Your reaction . I think this is enormous news for senator Vice President biden. Hes been able to raise 10 million this weekend alone. I think this endorsement is enormous. Weve seen surging and has polling and california and other super tuesday states, since coffee line. With mayor buttigieg dropping out, this is becoming closer to a twoperson race. Harris klobuchars going to fly to dallas, texas, and plants of joe and joe biden at israeli tonight at a super tuesday. No surprise there , harris. After all, joe biden needs to garner those delegates out of texas. Its a delegaterich state just as california is the biggest. But Amy Klobuchars endorsement is not that much of a surprise. Her campaign had been feeling, she basically had no delegates. She could have gotten over 90 delegates and not one on super tuesday. She had no money paid Elizabeth Warren is the next one who will likely hit that mark and that decision point, because her run rate is faster. She has been running out of money, and she will likely have to come out. I wonder if she will endorse Bernie Sanders. And that will split the women in their endorsements. Do i think it has a remarkable effect on the democratic voting based . To some degree, it might. But klobuchar just doesnt have the muscle. But it will help biden at least portray himself as being relevant, and at the same time having the support of a female candidate. Harris im looking now at some of the reporting as im going through all of this moment by moment. Klobuchar, as we know, zach friend, really surprised people. She did better than some of the betterknown and betterfunded democrats. But we saw her do something that Pete Buttigieg did, as well. That is to kind of come up and do well at the debates. That made a difference for both of them. And just last 24 hours, tom steyer, Pete Buttigieg, and now Amy Klobuchar out. Absolutely, harris. She was one of the best debaters by far and deserved all the praise she got associated with those debate performances. This is what i was referring to earlier in the segment, these two dropping out, it appears as though not just Amy Klobuchar supporting biden, but moving forward you probably see movement from Pete Buttigieg as well in that direction. That sends a strong message of where the Democratic Party actually is. It is not aligned with the Bernie Sanders wing of the party. The fact that the people are now especially before super tuesday, to set that stage, its very telling where people see its going. Harris the president has given the moniker of sleepy joe and joe biden. We know ahead of today, according to reporting that 4,000 is what he had spent in Digital Advertising for super tuesday. Mike bloomberg spent 78 million. I know there is a disparity in how much money each man has to spend. But that is a big deal. Did that maybe, david, point to some problems that were kind of working for joe biden . Had he not been able to pull this out on saturday in South Carolina . Again, harris, there is really not a surprise for joe biden in South Carolina. For those of you that saw the endorsement from jim clyburn, and then of course his conversation harris but the money, we are talking about money. Is that going to start to roll in now that you have the support of Amy Klobuchar . And we dont know what else is coming, we dont know where Pete Buttigieg is going, and his support. But that goes to my point, taking that to the money. You had clyburn there, and he didnt need to spend as much money. But hes not going to have the same issue, hes going to have a different issue, he does need the money paid in the flynn dock fundraising is good. But how much this 10 million take you . You will get states like massachusetts. These are expensive states, multiple media markets, and joe biden will have to compete while Mike Bloomberg i know democrats want to say at the twoperson race between ernie and biden, but its not. Bloomberg is still a player in this, especially when it comes to allocating capital. That is something that biden will have a tough time competing with no matter who endures them. Harris i want to read this now, weve been reporting based on some source from the press secretary for the klobuchar campaign. The campaign confirms the senator is flying to dallas to join Vice President biden at israeli tonight, where she will suspend her campaign and endorse the Vice President. Zach friend, what does this mean for joe biden . You heard david webb saying, nope, you got to count in Mike Bloomberg here. And Bernie Sanders, going forth . Its the momentum i think the Vice President needed coming into super tuesday. He can actually afford to not raise as much money because of his name recognition. Harris thats interesting. I agree mayor bloomberg is trying to buy viability at 15 . Lets put it this way, mayor bloomberg spent more money last month than barack obama did in his 2012 election. Its a lot of money being spent, but if you look at pulling in a lot of areas hes not even viable. Vice president biden, this will be a huge boost. Think of all the media hes getting paid you dont need to raise as much money when we having a conversation right now on National Television about these endorsements. Harris thats an interesting point. But you do need money for boots on the ground. You need money to pay campaign staffers. To that point, Bernie Sanders, i believe, just raised what was his report . 46 million plus this year so far . So the money being raised and the donors that are given, though small donations, add up to boots on the ground. Biden has to compete where the money matters, because staffers have to be paid. Thats a challenge for him. But President Trump didnt have any boots on the ground during his primary campaign and hes the president of the United States. So i dont think you necessarily need to have a massive Grassroots Movement by due in order to become president of the United States. But zach, youd b have to be able to trump had a huge name recognition going into this. He had the celebrity status from the apprentice and others just who he is. He was able to mask that, combined with a huge conservative moment from the tea party ford that kept going. End of the groups. So we have that. Biden doesnt have that grassroots approach. He has 44 years of which he was eight years of Vice President. And still he has to harris zach friend, david webb, i want to widen out the conversation now. Amy klobuchar is making an opinion and a decision that is based where she sees her constituents, minnesota, and where she wants to go, not having medicare for all harris she was clear about that. She was clear about that. I think people are nervous about up and down the ticket. Listen, if bernie is the candidate and he gets the majority, 1990 plus one, 40 dont knock the party will be fully binding. If he saw the candidate, the party will be behind them as well. It doesnt feel like theres a press between the establishment against once again . I dont think theres that establishment anymore. His grassroots is off the charts. He can raise money without the donor harris so how do you bring him along this time . Some of them voted for President Trump when he was a candidate last time, and some of them stayed home. So her candidacy comes down to winning her home state and making a case that she somehow is the unity candidate if its a contested Convention Going into milwaukee. Lets look back at Amy Klobuchar for just one second, and that is to look at how she had this momentum out of new hampshire, surprised at third, but really fell apart as far as the other contests. Being able to get on the board. That momentum more than anything else is what we have seen changes the dynamic. We knew joe biden was going to enact South Carolina. We didnt know he was going to win by that much. Think of the momentum, when he received out of that. It was his firewall. Harris real quickly, i had asked for these numbers and they are fresh. The delegate count. This is what matters. I mentioned that Amy Klobuchar has 7. I didnt even mention tom steyer because he didnt have any, although he also dropped out over the weekend. Elizabeth warren with 8, buttigieg with 25. I said 26, its 25. Biden is 48, and sanders is 56. Again, you look at this, and really there are just a couple people, with buttigieg out. And we havent seen what bloomberg can do. Thats right. To tom steyer, he spent 160 million, 160 million, to get no delegates. So the question for Mike Bloomberg is, where does the delegate haul come from on super tuesday . What is the path toward the nomination . Aat what point does he look at his race . We will ask all those things. Harris who appeals to the independent voter who maybe is voting for the very first time . Millennials, the young people who maybe Bernie Sanders can sometimes get . We dont know if he can get them this time. Right now Bernie Sanders leads astronomically in young people, especially below 30. We will have to see if joe biden can tap into some of that.
