I think that will work, massive numbers of dollars. Casey stegall has more from the border in el paso. Casey. Casey melissa, good to see you, what we are expecting the secretary to do in yuma, arizona, waiting for pictures to come in now tis similar to what she did yesterday, right here on the ground in el paso. And that is essentially meeting with Border Patrol agents and officers to get realtime updates on the situation from those on the front lines, those on the ground dealing with it day in and day out. Officials say once she is briefed in arizona today, shell provide remarks and comments to the press later this afternoon. We did not get that opportunity with her yesterday in el paso because she also toured a satellite holding facility. This region in particular, the el paso sector alone has overcrowding issues at the facilities. Holding centers over capacity because of a spike in the number of families and large groups that have come to this spot to turn themselves in. On twitter, nielsen sent this out while visiting el paso. It reads, quoting, call on congress to give dhs the authority and resources needed to stem the flow of illegal migration fuelling the emergency at our border. Families and unark companied children should not be Collateral Damage to our political dysfunction. Once shes wrapped up in arizona, then secretary nielsen is off to california tomorrow where she will link up with President Trump at the border for the big event scheduled there again tomorrow, melissa. Melissa thank you so much. Joining me is mark morgan, Border Patrol chief under president obama, he testified this morning before congress about the influx of migrants. What was that like, sir . Thank you for joining us, what information did you give them, what did they ask you and do you feel like they were listening . They were listening. There was no rhetoric about this is manufactured or not a crisis. I think for the most part, weve kind of tackled that hurdle. So it was a really kind of debate that it should be. I was it was good. Melissa why do you think we are seeing a huge influx right now. We see cropings up, in some places, 1700, 300 , some say the president s rhetoric and migrants know that and believe things are about to shut down, they are making a final rush. Others say that it is a calculated effort that the system is overloaded, once they make it across, they are released because there is nowhere to keep them any longer because the system is at capacity. What is your opinion . It is complicated. You can make argument there is a little bit of all of that mixed into the equation. Make no doubt, melissa, the reason they are coming is for economic equality, family reunification and because of our broken system, they know they step one foot on american soil, theyll will be allowed in indefinitely, that is incentive. They are paying money, risking their lives, they know they will be let in, that is why you are seeing the increase. Melissa can i ask you, when we hear secretary nielsen saying this is cat 5, the system is on fire, were at the breaking point. What does that mean . What happens if things go over a Tipping Point from here . What does that look like . Are fences coming down . What is it were talking about here . Were really talking about our system, greatest nation in the world, we are overtapped. Use a statement former secretary johnson said, he goes, if we had over 1000 illegal imgramigranim coming per day, that was a bad day. Now we are looking at 4000 a day, it is catastrophic, our system cant handle it. We went from ice releasing people in the United States, now Border Patrol are releasing Illegal Immigrants in the United States and if it keeps going like that, well have to open the gates and let them come in. Melissa acting ice director ron shot down democrat claims this was manufactured crisis. Let me show you what he had to say. Its absolute crisis down there, it has humanitarian aspects this policy cant continue. He talked about overcrowding, the consist is in a meltdown, and getting worse daybyday. Melissa you said they did accept it is a crisis. What is the next logical step for them . Did they say, what do we do about it . Or is there nothing we can do about it . Where did it go from there . It went downhill, melissa, you are spot on. Same talking points and resistance. They are talking about big longterm things, continue to work with mexico on longterm strategy and longterm strategies, we put hundreds of millions of dollars to northern triangle, numbers skyrocketed. What happened to mexico . Went from bystanders to facilitators, that is not working. How we fix this immediately, stop 150,000 from coming in next month, congress has to fix this and we have to stop these people from coming in when they need to stay in mexico. The president is right on the pressure hes putting on mexico. Melissa as somebody who has been on the frontlines, the dialogue goes back and forth. We see pictures of people laying on the ground trying to come over the border, waiting on the other side, are people you encountered a situation where you have this very dire scene weve seen painted in the New York Times and elsewhere. Smugglers are bringing sex slaves over the border and people paying for children to be caravanned and recycled around and around or are these people coming here looking for work, looking for economic opportunity, who deserve compassion and the administration is being heartless by turning them away, what is the truth . The truth is what you said before. The truth is we dont know who is coming in, we cant verify who the people are. Yeah, there are good people coming in and a whole bunch of bad people come in, too. Cartels, smugglers, traffickers, 40 of resources being diverted, the border is more wide open than it has been and cartels are exploiting that and directing caravans of 100 or more to remote areas along the border. Why . So the Border Patrol is diverted to that and sneak around and get bad people and bad things in, it is absolutely crisis, humanitarian and threat to our border. Melissa sounds like chaos. Mark morgan, thanks for coming on. It is. Thanks. Melissa three more women come forward accusing former Vice President joe biden of inappropriate touching. This just hours after biden pledged in an online video to be more respectful of others personal space. Watch. Joe biden protecting personal space have been reset and i get it. I get it. I hear what theyre saying. I understand it. Ill be much more mindful, that is my responsibility. My responsibility and ill meet it. Melissa some of biden accusers say his statement did not go far enough. Peter is with potential independent candidate, Howard Schultz. Peter. Peter it doesnt seem like the accusers are satisfied with the video he posted and they wont be until he adjusts his approach to women. This is a time of realization and selfawareness for mr. Biden. You know, time will tell, but i think that no one should define another persons boundaries period. And thats a little bit of what biden did in this video, talking about all the touching and the video did not include an apology, more just a walk through the way hes handled retail politics for the last several decades of his public life. Joe biden i hug people, i grab men and women by the shoulders and say, you can do this. Whether they are women, men, young, old, it is just the way ive always been, the way i try to show i care about them and im listening. Biden does not appear to have lost defenders in congress, who seem satisfied that none of the accusers go so far as to say the former vp sexually assaulted them. He said hes been made aware and he will change his behavior. What more can we ask . Biden will make his first public appearance since this bubbled up in washington, d. C. Tomorrow at union breakfast. It does not appear hes inching away from president ial campaign. Afterall, the beginning of the video he tweeted, he said he hopes to talk about other issues in the coming months. Melissa peter, exciting event, tell us what is going to happen, what is going on, we see stuff happening behind you there. A lot of empty chairs right now. They will be full. At 6 30, republicans and democrats will have a chance to ask questions of Howard Schultz who is not officially a candidate for president yet, he is somebody democratic groups are telling us, they think he could throw the election to President Trump because he would support away from whoever democratic nominee is. Schultz says hes aiming for the 42 or so people in this country who identify themselves as independent and might not want a republican or a democrat in 2020. So people from the kansas city area will have a chance to ask questions live and bret and martha might have questions. Melissa very cool. That is town hall with Howard Schultz tonight 6 30 p. M. Eastern time, with bret baier and martha maccallum. We look forward to it. Chair of the democrat house ways and Means Committee asking i. R. S. Melissa the Justice Department defending summary of the special counsels report after some of muellers investigators reportedly claim their findings were more damaging for President Trump than attorney general william barr revealed. Chief intelligence correspondence Catherine Herridge has more. The Justice Department went on the offensive issuing a statement, taking issue with media accounts that the Mueller Report contains summaries that were releasable. Every page of the confidential report, provided to attorney general barr was marked may contain material protected under procedure 6e, use the acronym, protecting grand jury information and therefore could not be publicly released. The findings they say are far more negative than the summary. The New York Times had no legitimate sources, which would be illegal, concerning the Mueller Report. Probably had no sources at all. These letters obtained by fox news show republican senators grassley and graham alerted attorney general barr last monthing congressional investigators uncovered evidence of potential political influence and misconduct in the russia probes. Fox news understand the senators wanted barr to have this information before he reviewed the mueller findings. After investigators allege prosecutors used selected quotes in Court Filings to create the most netharius investigation. Warned about the specific issues citing emails from Trump Campaign aid George Papadopoulos by entertaining a trip during the campaign. The Trump Campaign voluntarily provided copies of emails to congressional committees. In full context, the emails in question actually show the Trump Campaign wanted someone low level to decline these types of invitations. Senators asked the Justice DepartmentInspector GeneralMichael Horowitz to get involved. Melissa thank you so much. Los Angeles Police confirming they arrested the suspect in series of slashing attacks. Authorities accuse the man of slashing nine men and women in the head and neck area in the last 11 days while riding past them on a bicycle. No word yet on a motive for the attacks. Melissa one of our top stories, three more Women Joining total of seven accusing former Vice President joe biden of inappropriate conduct. This after biden in a video yesterday pledged to become more respectful of peoples personal space. He did not directly apologize for any of the alleged allegations. Now bring in anna palmer, playbook author and host of women rule podcast. How do you think his apology is going over today . Well, i think joe biden did exactly what he needed to do in the short term. There was a vacuum, he had not responded to any allegations except through statements and was letting everybody else talk for him. You had different democrats defending him, others questioning where he was on the issue. I think he was trying to control the message. Is it enough in the longterm . I dont think so. I think he will be asked tough questions and i think there is an expectation of some kind of apology. Melissa yeah, i mean, he did skip over actually saying he was sorry. Another notable omission others commented on, you havent heard from the obamas at all. Michelle obama is out on book tour, on the New York Times bestselling list, influential, she did not say anything in support of him. Do you think that is odd . She hasnt. Valerie jarrett, did come out fairly supportive of joe biden and had a lot of other democrats in the party. We sat down with Speaker Nancy Pelosi earlier this week for an event and she was pretty harsh on him. She said, i believe in the straightarm policy and think you have cold, i have a cold, guidance in terms of keeping distance in todays society. Melissa yeah, one accuser reacts to the fact he made the statement, but didnt apologize. Lets listen to that. I would like to think that perhaps this is a time of realization and selfawareness for mr. Biden. You know, time will tell. But i think that no one should define another persons boundaries, period. In this day and age, you wonder if there is a right way to apologize or make a statement afterward. I guess he didnt technically apologize. Seems like no matter what anyone does, there is pushback from people who think he didnt go far enough. He could have said, i made people uncomfortable, that was not my intention, ill really sorry, would that have put it away, do you think . I dont think this genie is going back in the bottle per se. I think there is appetite from that woman and others to hear him speak more about this and acknowledge, not just hes going to change his behavior, but what he did in the past was inappropriate. I think i have talk to some folks who are close to the bidens and say, same point, you cant respond to every single thing, there are different people coming forward that remember things differently than he probably does. Melissa for sure. Some people say the real message coming out of this, how clumsy his campaign is so far. He is not announced, still the response, the video, audio is strange, hes far it doesnt feel authoritative, the first statement seemed doctored. It shows a group of people that look like they are not ready for prime time, even though they have been in the Vice President s office. What do you think . I think that is a sense a lot of folks have been wondering, it is the biden apparatus ready to campaign in the era of twitter and social media. Things move fact and you need to react quickly. So far there has been a lot of stumbles out of the gate. Melissa yeah, anna palmer, political playbook, thank you for coming on, we appreciate it. Great stuff. The appreciate it. The teen saying he escaped two captors who held him for seven years. Now investigators are working to confirm his identity. Here is the story from the midwest bureau. What a story, matt, what do you know . Right now police are investigating the teenager, who suddenly appeared claiming he was this missing boy who vanished years ago. There is apparently a dna test underway that might clarify this whole thing. Results could come any hour. There was shock yesterday in kentucky, this teenage boy surfaced in newport, kentucky, claiming he was timothy pitzen. Neighbors called to report the teen acting suspicious. The teen claims he escaped from a red roof inn, describing them as two males with bodybuilder frames. We have a child who said he ran away, he said he was kidnapped, we found him. Looks like in 2011 he was kidnapped or abducted, not sure what the situation is. Pitzens family says they are being cautiously optimistic. Here is neighbor who discovered the teen and the grandmother who says the family is hopeful. Really he was a lost child, it broke my heart to see him stand there like he had not a friend in the world. The demeanor. He was scared . Scared to death. We never stopped looking for him, thinking about him. We love him and will do everything to get him back to a good life. In 2011, sixyearold timothy pitzens mother checked him out of kindergarten class in illinois, spent a few days with him, took him to the zoo and water park and police say she killed herself in rockford motel, leaving behind a chilling note saying her son was okay, but would never be seen again. Police say they searched nearby red roof motels and have not discovered the captors. Melissa did you say they discovered the captors or have not . They have not. Melissa what did the neighbors say when they discovered him and called police . Other details about what he said or what made them call the police . So the neighbors said there was a wandering teenage boy suspicious in the neighborhood. One neighbor thought he might have been trying to break into their cars. They called 911. He gave them his story. He said he escaped red roof inn and crossed some type of bridge and ended up in this random neighborhood. They describe him as being physically beaten in the face, melissa. Melissa so heartbreaking, we have to hope this is this boy coming home. Thank you for the reporting. Melissa all right, lets bring in angeline hartman, from the National Center for missing and exploited children. She joins us on the phone. Are you there . Hi, yes, can you hear me okay . Melissa thank you for joining us. First of all, let me ask you the big question first. Do you think this could really be this boy . Well, you know, its really hard to say. It is just tough to speculate at this time. We always hope that when we get news like this, that it is the missing child that were looking for, but we just, out of respect for the family and everybody involved, we really dont want to speculate today. Melissa it would be quite a coincidence if he came up with the name of a boy kidnapped seven years ago, not like it is a case that has been in the news recently. It seems like, you are right, they will do d. N. A. Tests and try to figure out if it is him. If it is, you deal with a lot of these cases, you know, you follow children and hope they show up again. What do you think happened here if this does turn out to be him . Is this unusual in these kind of cases . What usually has happened in the interim . Every case is different. And so, in this case, its, again, would be speculation. There are many scenarios that could have happened. You know, one theory has always been that timothys mom may have given him away to a family, who would take care of him. You know, another theory has been that before she committed suicide, that she did something bad to timothy. The list goes on and on. You know, ive covered this case many years, talking to investigators. They said they just dont know. That is the whole thing. It could have gone either way. So when you talk about whether or not hes been in the news lately, you know, we have done media pushes, you know, in different areas. He was recently on a National Television show, you know, through social media. It is quite possible his name was picked up through the channels. Melissa we have a map we can show the viewers about where he went missing, all the way in aurora, illinois, to where he may have been found, if this is him, near cincinnati, ohio, it looks like where he says he escaped the kidnappers and found in newport, kentucky. You said that you have been working on this case for a long time, has it been cold all this time . Have there been sightings or people think they are seeing him or what has happened in this sevenyear time span . What has been interesting in this case, every time, our job at National Center is to create the most attention that we can for this child and any child. So, when do we do that . We know that the news will pick up these stories naturally different times of the year. Maybe the anniversary of when the child went missing, maybe the childs birthday. Weve done that. So that is when we put stories out there and what happens is when we put stories out there, investigators do tend to get more tips. Through the years, all of this time, i would not say it is a cold case. There have been times they get less tips, but investigators have been working this all of these years. Melissa yeah. Angeline, lets hope this is really him. Thank you for coming on and thank you for what you do. Thank you so much for having us. Ethiopian authorities releasing a preliminary report on the deadly crash of boeing 737 max plane last month. It found pilots followed boeing emergency guidelines and the crash showed similarities to the lion air crash of the same type of jet last fall in indonesia. Live in seattle with mar. Dan. The actual report has not been made public, transportation officials and Airline Officials are getting ahead of it, saying their pilots were not to blame in any way. According to transportation minister, the investigation found the plane had valid certificate, the pilots were licensed and qualified. Takeoff appeared normal and the pilots followed boeing emergency protocols. All the procedures repeatedly provided by the manufacturer, but was not able to control the aircraft. The head of Ethiopian Airlines responded talking about their pilots saying despite their hard work and compliance with emergency procedures, it was unfortunate they could not recover the airplane from the persistence of the nose diving. Boeing put out release saying information from the flight data recorder indicated the plane had erroneous sensor input that activated antistall system, same thing happened before the lion air disaster in indonesia. The directive was to turn off the mcat system and fly manually if a sensor malfunctions and the nose is being pushed down when it shouldnt be. The ethiopian transport minister told reporters, the pilots couldnt get control of the plane immediately and turned the mcat system back on, at least once, that was not boeings instruction and raises other questions. Boeing has been working on a software fix, but today, boeing, along with maker of the sensor and f. A. A. Hit with first lawsuit filed in the u. S. The freshman congresswoman. The president has said he cant wait to run against her Green New Deal in 2020, but is this a battle he might regret . We have evan, from i understa i alex vogel. Gentlemen, thanks for joining us. Senator, start with you. When you get beneath the rhetoric and the back and forth and taunts, what this is about in my mind, this Green New Deal seems like it would be a threat to the whole industrial midwest and the part of the country that President Trump took kind of by surprise and the democrats kind of need to win back. What are your thoughts on that . Melissa, i think you should become a political analyst, you are right. If you look at five states that matter, it is pennsylvania, michigan, wisconsin, North Carolina and florida. There may be one or two others, that is kind of it. Something that will cost trillions of dollars for major tax increases, maybe harm the economy in terms of combustible engine, farming, emission cows give off, i think people in the middle of the country are like whoa, this seems out there. Melissa they are living in a carbonbased economy, they make things, haul things, they form things and sell them and this is talking about blowing up lives and entire way of life. The president s point, though, and i think her point is maybe on the Green New Deal, you can pick it apart, but she has an energy, she has a lot of the Party Following her and listening to her and shes the kind of outsider and upsetter that the president was in a lot of ways. She says dont dismiss me, its a mistake. That is probably true. What do you think . Couple things. I dont think the president underestimates her. The fact he referred to her as 29yearold bartender, like getting a bad nickname from donald trump. Melissa and that is not really a bad one. Pencil, you know. He takes you seriously if hes talking about you. No one respects her fame more than this president does. The real issue i think democrats, especially the 2020 field have to deal with around the Green New Deal, she has all this platform and popularity to push these issues out there, they have to actually vote on them. We saw what happened when the senate took up her Green New Deal, they got zero votes. It puts them in uncomfortable political position. Melissa republicans need a response, right . They need to define where they stand on the environment. What were you going to respond there . I was going to make a couple points. You pointed on the the election would not be decided in queens or new york city, in the heartland, different from aoc, versus the election coming up. Two other differences. It was democratic primary, okay. She will have sway in a democratic primary. The general election is a different electorate, not so much. The turnout in the primary she won was low, very few vote in primaries, general election will have massive turnouts. Moderates and other folks who dont participate in primaries will be deciding voters and that is not the group she appeals to. Melissa how do we know so far, though . I heard the same thing about President Trump, he had no ground game, no social media. The media loved him because it was a good story. Beyond that, he wasnt getting traction, the same thing. With her, media loves her because its a great story, beyond that, shes not getting a lot of traction. She has a lot of followers, not sure instagram followers watching you drink wine and put ikea turntur together equals votes. Polling numbers are not fantastic. Melissa we got to go.
