When you look at five months, this is a largescale version. That was 18 minutes. They say its 50,000 texts and its prime time. Thats disturbing. Harris its prime time and now they have some of them. Catherine herridges live in washington with the latest, what did they find . Fox news within the last few minutes received this letter, which is from the Inspector General david e horwitz. He is writing to Senior Senate republicans so senator ron johnson who chairs government and Homeland Security as well as chuck grassley. It horwitz is not household name but he is really an essential player to both the email casey n the russia case. About a year ago he was tasked with doing an investigation of the fbis handling and the Justice Departments handling of the email case and it was through that investigation that he uncovered these antitrump texts between demoted agent peter strzok and the fbi lawyer lisa page. According to the two page letter that has gone to the hill, theyve been able to recover some of the texts during this critical time period of decembe7 went special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed. What he confirms in the letter is they took physical custody of the phones and were able to obtain the Text Messages. The office of the Inspector General has been investigating this matter and in this week succeeded in using forensic tools to uncover Text Messages from fbi devices including Text Messages that were sent and received between december 2016 and may of 2017 2017. Our efforts to recover any additional Text Messages are ongoing. What jumps out to me in the letter is its framed in such a way that it sounds like other phones that may be relevant to the conversations of the emails in the russia case were also affected by this Technical Glitch with the samsung five which is what the fbi has blamed for the loss of these records. Based on that language it looks like other phones were affected and there are still trying to uncover other relevant texts. Harris they collect both these devices, why dont you just look at the phones . Catherine herridge, thank you very much. Principal Deputy White House press secretary, you are traveling with the president , so glad to have you here for just a few minutes that we get you. If the president likened this to bigger than watergate, that you couldnt find these critical missing Text Messages between two fbi agents that were talking about antitrust bias. What is the white house reaction . First of all, thanks a lot for having me on. We think these Text Messages are very significant, the fact that they went missing is a really big problem. Peter strzok, this individual who was in charge of an investigation that we have long maintained as a witch hunt, there is no collusion, no obstruction, no evidence of wrongdoing and now this individual has been removed from the case for political bias. Thousands of Text Messages missing is a huge problem. This goes to a wider problem weve been talking about, political malfeasance and bias in the highest ranks of the fbi and department of justice, this is a reason why the president nominated Christopher Wray as the fbi director, to clean it up and move us forward with an fbi thats above political bias and questioning. We think this development is good, we want to make sure that as many messages are recovered as possible and that the truth about political bias of the highest ranks of the fbi is made available to the public. Harris its also an interesting detail that they are looking at other peoples phones, we will follow the facts as they go. I understand that the president is looking forward to sitting down potentially with the special Counsel Robert Mueller. He said that and then why did the white House Counsel feel there was a need to come back behind the president almost two maybe not a clarification but a simple dictation of what they were looking to do. I dont feel like anything was inconsistent with what the president said he and i dont think what the president said is inconsistent with what hes been saying for a long time. This investigation is one in which they spent nearly a year, millions of taxpayer dollars, they found no collusion, no obstruction, no evidence of wrongdoing and of the president has been fully cooperating. His lawyer just told us today that theyve had had unprecedented cooperation and nearly 20,000 pages of documents for the special counsel voluntarily. The president has said he is willing to talk to the special counsel, hes going to consult with his attorneys about how that works but the president has nothing to hide, hes done nothing wrong and he wants to put this issue behind them. Harris we looks to polling yesterday, eight in ten americans said they were in favor of the president sitting down with mueller. It cant be lost with anyone that its assumed its because it moves the investigation forward, no doubt the president is saying hes in line with the American People are also saying. Lets talk about something that would on any other day if it werent for all these other things going on might be the lead story, and thats that the president now says hes open for a pathway to citizenship for dreamers and that the conversation now being led by the president to get us beyond february 8th potentially has this in it. The president has said consistently for some time now that he wants a solution thats compassionate and make sense for daca recipients, a permanent one and not one thats temporary but he also believes if you give legal status to people here illegally, you can encourage more ilLegal Immigration. The only way to stop that is to have a solution that makes sense that is Border Security and our southern border wall, an end to the visa lottery system, that seriously reforms the chain migration system so we fix the problem rather than make it worse. The president is open to that as part of a much larger bipartisan fix that he wants congress to get behind. Harris is this any indication we should take away that the president and the democrats have made some movement on no daca, no wall, and a back and forth . Youd have to ask the democrats, you have Chuck Schumer claiming he offered wall funding and then pulling that offer back, really cant explain where hes coming from or what hes been saying. Our position has been clear, we had democrats and republicans, the house and Senate Members of the white house to go weeks ago. They walked away with four broad areas they want to take forward for reform. The daca population, Border Security, chain migration, and the visa lottery. The president is going to put forward a plan that does just that. Harris we expect to see that sometime next week. Just coming up later today, there you are for the First Time Since sitting president has visited in davos at that Economic Forum since bill clinton. What has been the reception for the president of the United States . I think the reception for the president has been fantastic. He just had two outstanding meetings today with the Prime Minister of the u. K. And israel and his message to the world and Business Community is that america as a nation is open for business. In the last year weve seen tremendous deregulation of our economy to a free up job creators and businesses, tax reform for the first time in three decades, significantly lowering the corporate and business tax rate, we are welcoming and opening business and the Business Community is responding. Weve seen unemployment dropped to a near two decade low, stock market hit new highs every single day. This economy is booming and the president s message is very clear. Invest in america, its good for your company, your country, and the world. Harris we got the words directly from the president , look at how america is doing, thats the message you are also kind of filling in the details on. He said to speak tomorrow, anything you can tell us overarching . Something we might hear . Youre going to hear the president s message about how a booming economy helps the world and also how free, fair, and reciprocal trade agreements the president wants to work toward are going to make growth possible for all countries. Youre going to hear a message on trade, a message on the economy and the president talk about how america can lead the world into the next few decades with economic growth. Harris americans elected a businessman, ceo, cfo and now hes in davos. Thank you from the white house for being with us. Think so much for having me on. Harris coming up, we will get the reaction to the recover Text Messages from a Justice Department official and also asked questions about why they may want to block that important memo out there which may show more antitrust bias. Well talk about that first thing coming up. More reaction on what we saw from the white house. The anchor of Fox News SundayChris Wallace is here. A lot to unpack just then, the headline and all of this is missing Text Messages, some of them we still dont have a number of how many were missing and whats been found but somethings been found. Thats obviously good news, we want to know exactly what peter strzok and lisa page were saying to each other and if there was any indication they were putting a thumb on the scale, its clear they were both very proclinton, antitrump, they played key roles in both investigations and we want to know if it was just talk or whether they did anything to affect either investigation. Harris as we look at this in the overarching, i know last hour theres some contention over the fact that does this impact anything about the Robert Mueller investigation, does it . Looks, the white house it was very interesting listening to your interview with roz. He talked about the corruption and bias in the fbi, he said the Mueller Investigation saw no evidence of collusion. He doesnt know that, none of us know that because we dont know what they found in the investigation but what struck me is that this is just special counsel 101, we saw this with bill clinton, ken starr in that investigation in the late 90s 90s. One of the things the white house does when they are under fire is they do everything they can to discredit our special counsels investigation so if and when the special counsel decides to bring charges against a sitting president , they try to have undercut their credibility. That worked in the case of bill clinton. He got impeached but he did not get convicted or removed from office and obviously thats part of what you are seeing going on at the white house, they are doing everything they can to undercut the credibility of the Mueller Investigation so if they come up with any conclusions that are hostile to this president they can say we told you so. Harris if you are talking about the precedent and historical past for any of that you would say okay, its par for the course. But it gets more complicated when the fbi situation makes it easier to criticize them with such antitrump by Text Messages, what do you say about that . There certainly is plenty of stuff to criticize in this investigation, there was plenty of stuff bill clinton and his white house found to criticize about ken starr, they said he was a prosecutor, a special counsel run amok. I have mixed feelings on this question of this investigation. On the one hand, all this criticism of james comey and that he was so proclinton but thats kind of a surprise to the Clinton Campaign since ten days before the election he came out and announced he was reopening the investigation. Theres all kinds of criticism of peter strzok and lisa page but when Robert Mueller found out about their bias, when you read their Text Messages it was clear bias against President Trump, he fired them from the investigation. There is plenty of smoke, we have to wait and see particularly i am interested to see the Inspector General, michael horowitz, the man who came up and said hes freed some of these emails or texts, it will be interesting to see what he says as to whether there was bias or not. Harris my big question has been, the fbi should be able to look at itself, why couldnt it find these after that Technical Glitch . It took the office to get both phones and potentially even more phones to try to find them. I think thats a fair question. Your last word . In a sense you could say the system works. They shouldnt have lost the text in the first place harris how hard was the fbi really looking i guess is the question . We only found out about this in the last week and the Inspector General was able to come up with it. Again, theres a lot of things that are troubling and a lot of questions to ask, i fully agree that we need to pursue all of this. Im not sure that talking about deep state coups against the president or corruption at the highest levels of the fbi im not sure we are there yet. Harris Chris Wallace, whats coming up this weekend on Fox News Sunday . We are going to be pursuing this in part, were going to have trey gowdy, we will be exploring all of this with him. As i say, we are going to pursue this exactly where it goes. Harris his name was just on this memo we received a copy of stuff from the Inspector Generals office saying exactly what they found, maybe not the number of messages but also where theyre going. An interesting interview, ill be watching you. Thank you, chris. The stock market is in record territory. Can we pop it up . Fox news polling can show more americans give the economy a positive rating than they have in nearly two decades. And they give the white house credit for it, too. Whether thats enough to keep republicans in control of congress in november, we will discuss. We just spoke to the white house about President Trumps stance on dreamers. Next well talk to a member of the Bipartisan Group of senators working to come up with an immigration deal. Are the president s comments a game changer . We will ask Lamar Alexander, stay close. Okay folks lets team up to get the lady of the house back on her feet. And help her feel more strength and energy in just two weeks yaaay the complete balanced nutrition of great tasting ensure with 9 grams of protein and 26 vitamins and minerals. Ensure. Always be you. An iceberg. Theres a lot going on underneath that i cant see. New crest gum detoxify works below the gum line to neutralize harmful plaque bacteria and help reverse early gum damage. New crest gum detoxify. Harris of fox news alert on immigration. We just heard from the white house about the president saying he is receptive to a path to citizenship for dreamers. We also learned that chief of staff john kelly will head to capitol hill, they are working on getting the framework double four divisions of Border Security to it and the dreamers are component of what they were talking about. That is big news. Lets bring in republican senator Lamar Alexander of tennessee, he is part of that Immigration Group thats been working on this legislation. I take it that there has been some movement you can tell us about that may be positive. First, the president s statement as a positive movement, thats real president ial leadership. I said earlier this year, mr. President , president bush couldnt do it, president obama couldnt do it. You could be nixon to china on immigration. This isnt something the Nashville City Council or state can solve, you can do it and i think his comments yesterday were an important part of president ial leadership to solve a problem. Harris it so interesting to me when you talk about the president s role in all of this. As you put together this Bipartisan Group, have you called specifically on the president , give us your thoughts and your vision. I welcome the president s comments. I met with the secretary of Homeland Security department to this weekend said please give us your recommendations, please provide technical advice. We want the president s advice. We want to pass a bill with at least 70 votes so the president will sign it and if he signs it the house will be more likely to pass it. So yes we want the president s advice. Harris tell me about these 30 senators, the Bipartisan Group you put together. I understand your leadership is senator durbin and senator cornyn. Talk to me about the spirit of this group. Its a tough issue but the spirit of the group is good. There were six senators in our meeting, we asked to gather our thoughts, give them to senator mcconnell so we can put them on the floor on february 8th so hes promised to begin the immigration debate. They are both the number two leaders in the senate on each caucus, a chairman and Ranking Member of the immigration subcommittee. Now we are meeting and talking about exactly what kind of bill should senator mcconnell put on the floor to start the debate. Harris i want you to watch or listen to something with me from the president on whether he can believe what Chuck Schumer has to say going forth about the wall. Schumer said there was a bill on the table, do you believe him . No i dont. I just watched joe manchin say schumer does not mean that. Harris that bit at the end, i like him, i grew up with him. You want to get beyond 60 votes in a bipartisan manner, the president obviously playing a huge role as you said. We need to bridge the threshold because we dont want a bill that has 48 democrats and 12 republicans. We have to get 60 votes in the senate to pass it but if we have sent 70 votes we will get many republicans and many democrats. Thats more likely to be something that reflects the president s views. If the president is comfortable with it i think House Republicans will be comfortable with it. If President Trump says this is fair and this secures the border in important ways i think most people on our side of the aisle would say okay, ill take his word for that. Harris do you trust Chuck Schumer . He took 1. 6 billion off the table potentially for the wall. The president and Chuck Schumer are both new yorkers, they are both negotiators. That kind of negotiation really doesnt matter here. Weve got the president s recommendations, we are going to go to work and see if we can get the 70 votes and solve the problem. This is our job to do it, weve gone too long without a Legal Immigration system. We dont want an illegal status situation, particularly for these young people who may have come in at age five, graduated from college, joined the military, raised a family. Do we want to deport 800,000 of them at once . I dont think anybody much wants to do that. Lets decide what to do about it, secure the border is much as we can and move onto the next thing. Harris the white house is set to release what it sees in terms of immigration legislation next week. You are working on the bipartisan bill. Its not just the senators in the president , it is also the house. What kinds of conversations are you having with representative so you can get something to the president s desk to sign . Thats not really the way it works. The way it works is we do our best job keeping in mind we have a Republican House and republican president. If we have a bill that the president supports and says this secures the border in important ways and this is fair for the daca children were brought here illegally, many conservatives in the house of representatives will support that. We dont need to be going over there and trying to persuade them of this or that, they are an independent body. We should do our job in the senate and see if we can get 70 votes and the president s support. Thats the best way for us to deal with the house. Harris can i tell you how much it lights up on social media when someone of your stature on the hill says im going to go do my job . Im going to put that out there. Thats what we should be doing. Harris senator alexander, thank you for being here. The Justice Department is warning house intel chairman devin nunes not to release a surveillance memo he says reveals antitrust bias at the fbi. The reason they want that kept under wraps . I will ask a member of the doj why they are blocking it, stay close. vo dogs have evolved, but their nutritional needs remain instinctual. Harris this developing story, brandnew reaction after the Justice Department watchdog announced they have recovered some of those missing Text Messages between x smaller fire and fury harris the agency says it has failed to obtain five months of messages. Lets bring in the director of Public Affairs at the Justice Department, thanks for being with me today. My first question for you is why send the doj letter blocking the release of this by the House Intel Committee chairman, why do that . Weve provided the House Intelligence Committee with over 1,000 pages of classified documents and they have evidence of wrongdoing, wed very much like to see it and act on any wrongdoing thats gone on at the department of justice. The attorney general has made clear that we are going to be extraordinarily transparent about everything thats gone on and if theres been any wrongdoing we want to know about it. What we were saying was let us see it first and at this point nobody in the senator whitehouse of the department of justice or fbi has seen this document and are a number of congressmen have expressed a lot of concern about it so we would like to see it. Harris specifically what im talking about is that surveillance memo that shows something if you will behind the scenes potentially of whats going on and so he wants to get that out there and you are saying a review, how long would it take, how long would it be before the public can see what everybody in your venue can see . We would certainly want to see any evidence of wrongdoing and take action upon that, if there is wrongdoing going on and then wed want to discuss this is classified material for a reason. It has National Security implications and may have implications for our allies or others in the intelligence community. Harris we are seeing the president of the United States in the davos at the world Economic Forum and sometimes in these venues he will speak up so we are going to listen if he starts to talk. Thank you very much. [inaudible question] harris thats the president of the United States, he is just entering the Economic Forum, hes had a couple of bilateral news conferences today, bilateral meetings with the Prime Minister of the u. K. And also Benjamin Netanyahu of israel. You heard some questions being shorted out and we will talk a little later with my panel of what their were asking the president. I jumped right in and wanted to know about this surveillance memo the House Intelligence Committee wants to release. You say you want to try to fix some of the problems that memo may be talking about in terms of antitrust bias or whatever is going on before the public would see it. Cant you do it simultaneously, cant you fix the problem and let everybody see what the House Intel Committee wants them to see . The information in the memo at this point is classified. It has National Security applications and if there is evidence we want to address it immediately, we want to see the memo while it is classified whether than wait for this process to play out, wed like to see it right now. Harris lets talk about the release of those Text Messages. Thats been breaking news the recovery, rather. Some of the Text Messages between those fbi agents who were said to have antitrust bias, the reaction from the doj . The attorney general is so pleased that the work of the Inspector General, getting these phones and starting the process of recovering these Text Messages, the Inspector General just a few moments ago said he has recovered Text Messages and that process will continue. The archiving system had not gotten those Text Messages for that five month period at all. We hope to turn over additional Text Messages to congress once the ig recovers them. Harris if there is found to be antitrust bias beyond these agents, now we understand that you have more phones than just theirs. If there is a trend or a pattern here from the Justice Department, what is accountability look like . Its important to wait for the Inspector General to finish his job. He doesnt just have the Text Messages, he is also interviewed people, has additional documents. We want to wait for that process to be complete. What the attorney general has made very clear is that we will leave no stone unturned when it comes to recovering these missing Text Messages and if there is any wrongdoing found, he will take the legal or disciplinary action available. Harris harris there somg else that involves the doj and that is bruce orr, a member of your workforce who has been demoted a couple of times because it was found out that his wife worked for a fusion gps, which was in charge of putting together that antitrust dossier. I want to get an official word from your department on that matter. I am not going to comment on internal doj personnel matters. Bruce orr no longer works in that department. Harris if there is antitrust bias found in any way, shape, or form with any connection to those employees, what does accountability look like . The Inspector General does his initial investigation and report and once we have that you then often see disciplinary, legal, other actions that can be taken. Harris we will watch the facts as they form. Thank you for sitting by through the breaking news of the president occurring the Economic Forum. President trump is raising some eyebrows after saying hes looking forward to sitting down with the special counsel as part of the russia investigation. Should the president tread carefully here . Or is this the best way to clear his name, end of story . Our power panel will weigh in, stay close. These are some of the most powerful Business Leaders in the world, 15 of them by my count at that table. In fact, the president of siemens said they are going to be investing in north carolina, and the president having a oneonone with pretty much everybody in the room. We will keep that picture up because the president s back and forth with these leaders. I want to bring in my panel really quickly, Bernard Whitman is a former bill clinton pollster, amy holmes is here come up, political analyst for rasmussen reports. Amy, this is a day in which the economy is already in focus, there are a lot of things going on that are positive for this administration. Harris, ive actually had the opportunity to interview the swiss president of the american Swiss Chamber of commerce about President Trump and his leadership economically and i can tell you, the word from switzerland is America First growing the economy is good for the world economy. There really isnt a conflict between america putting its economic interests first and that action benefiting all those people at that table. Harris the world Economic Forum, lets listen in again. I am the ceo of anheuserbusch, the beer company. We sell beer and more than 100 companies, number one global beer brand is budweiser. We know it well. Thats fantastic. Thank you very much. Mr. President , id like to thank you first of all for having me but also for spurring on all this growth. These are all my customers. Its amazing how all your customers talk about adding jobs and growing their business, its a real tribute to the momentum that youve created in the global economy, thank you very much. Its a real honor and thank you for having me, we look forward to helping in any way we can. You have done a spectacular job, i guess pretty much everybody at this table is your customer. Thank you all very much. [reporters clamoring] thank you guys. Thank you very much. Harris there you have it, sometimes we linger just a bit with our live look inside because the president may have a last word, questions from the media in the room were being shouted but now we know they are being ushered out, that was the end of the public portion of this dinner with those World Leaders we got to hear from world leader i should say World Business leaders. We got to hear from each and everyone in the president had a talk back with each one as well. A lot of details about our economy there, America First. Lets bring it back out to my panel. Whats interesting about this, the polling recently shows where americans heads are and clearly they are focused on the economy as it normally is, i want to click it your thoughts. I think its ironic and hilarious that donald trump campaigned against global allegiance, going to davos to be the media darling. He is honestly a narcissist and megalomaniac and he wants the world focused on him. Harris i want to pop up this polling, the Trump Administration has made the economy better or worse, 40 are saying better. I want to focus back to what swiss Business Leaders, the president of the american Swiss Chamber of commerce told me. He said we want america to be strong and have momentum because thats good for everybody. They also made another interesting point. If america doesnt step up, theres a vacuum. Who feels that vacuum . China. China steals intellectual property, thats why we want America Harris if there is namecalling i think he was getting schooled on the importance of global trade and he also underscores the fact that we need an infrastructure bill. In order to get an infrastructure bill, trump is going to have to play ball with the democrats in congress. I think that is where the eyes of the United States are going harris both of you, thank you very much. The president making huge news in davos at the world Economic Forum.
