Harris and chaos, violence, showing no signs of stopping in chicago. Some 15 people were wounded in a shooting outside of a funeral home last night. Among 23 people reportedly shot across the entire city yesterday. The latest Chicago Police data year over year show through sunday murders are up by 51 . Shootings are up by 47 . The citys mayor says this. We need to continue to lean into our faith and depend on each other. We need to find our sense of humanity, our sense of community and make sure that every single do everything we can to reach out to these young men to break the cycle of violence. Harris you are watching outnumbered im harris faulkner. Here is editor and Fox News Contributor katie pavlich, attorney and Fox News Contributor emily compagno, Fox News Contributor Jessica Tarlov and joining us today ben shapiro host of the ben shapiro show podcast and also the author of the new book how to destroy america in three easy steps. Hey, everybody, it is wednesday. Lets get to you, ben. So, is this on the list of you who to destroy america in three steps just let it fall, basically to the hands of people who want to commit violence . Ben ben i mean the posturing is absolutely extraordinary. What i talk about in the book is the idea if you are going to have a nation that holds together then you have to have a nation where we share a philosophy rooted in the declaration of independence have to have a culture where we rely on each other and culture of entrepreneurship and respect each others rights. Common history recognition that American History has dark and terrible parts story of the American History is the fulfillment of the promissory note when mlk said the promises of the declaration had to be extended to all americans we have done over time creating the most prosperous, free and beautiful nation in the world. What we are watching right now where politicians stand by and watch their own cities be destroyed in the name of some sort of utopiaism the idea we are going to allow law and order to go by the wayside to building is new an element of the destruction of the country. This is insane. Im sorry if Lori Lightfoot thinks by going on tv and appealing to the better angels of the people murdering children in chicago this is going to solve the problem, she is out of her mind. Harris you know, emily, i come to you on the legal part of all of this, i want to make a fine point the president expected in his announcement today to include the facts, i dont know, maybe mayor lightfoot didnt know. These actually wont necessarily be all outside forces. He is going to repurpose some of the federal agents who are already in chicago to work on the current disaster that is unfolding in terms of the violence on the streets. Emily thats exactly right, harris. First of all, federal crimes deserve federal responses and secondly there are auto whole host of different ways that federal forces can be activated, right . What were looking at in chicago would be exactly that existing federal agencies on the ground assigned there resupplement and bolster and augment the local Law Enforcement there underneath the city of Chicago Police department. Right . We see different programs look differently. We have operating legend by the doj. Homeland security investigations, et cetera, i just have to point out that mayor lightfoot there, she has actually approved federal intervention we know she wrote that four page litter toft president. Despite your incendiary rhetoric, mr. President , i do want federal intervention. To be clear its simply in the form of more money. She thinks that simply by more spending on what she says is Community Investment and bolstering Community Service programs, reform of gun laws and the like that that will solve this problem. Final quick point, the American Civil Liberties union of illinois has called this the federal intervention an assault on the people of this country. What do you call what is happening on the streets now . Harris yeah. Jessica, as i come to you, im looking down at my notes, may 25th, 58 days ago that george floyd was tortured and murdered before our very eyes on that videotape. And we were all yoked as the a nation in that same direction. I have talked about this many times. Now we are splintered. But splintered is one thing splintered and peacefully protest something one thing. I have heard some democrats go after republicans with how can you call for thoughts and prayers . Yet, thats exactly what Lori Lightfoot is doing right now. Are there no fresh ideas about how to save that city . What do you think about her words today . Jessica im not so much concerned with her words today as a course of action as you pointed out that we need. We need a new plan. How Lori Lightfoot won victorious to win the miller in chicago there were a lot of con tinders. People thought she was going to be best to fix the crime and violence epidemic in chicago. She has so far fallen short of that its important to note by as you said reading out statistics of year over year murders and violence et cetera in chicago, this is a long held problem. This existed before george floyd was murdered by derek chosen and it will exist afterwards. So i would love to see a plan from the mayor that includes those funds that are coming from federal Law Enforcement as well as what she is going to do with the officers that are already on the ground there to help assist her and the police chief who i believe are wholeheartedly dedicated to fixing this problem but so far come up short. Im not so sure how much more that city can take, actually, of these kinds of numbers. This wasnt even a weekend, right . 15 people shot outside of a funeral home on a tuesday. Its obviously dire circumstances and federal Law Enforcement and state and local need to Work Together here. Harris well, i would say this because of the coronavirus pandemic, you do have people who dont necessarily treat the days of the week waiting for the weekend the way that they used to. It seems like a lot of these days are sometimes even hard to count. Like which day is it for some . Katie, as i come to you, i want to lean in a little bit more on what mayor lightfoot said. Because it was light in the content of strategy on how to clean up her streets and, you know, that whole thing i brought up about democrats vs. Republicans, thoughts and prayers, what the president is pushing in with now can you do both. You can have theirs not going to do away with that im going to make sure that federal agents are there and activated on the ground coming from the president and what he will do next. Katie yeah, harris, if you look at the mayors twitter stream from last night within an hour or two of her saying she wasnt going to allow President Trumps troops. Well, they are not President Trumps troops, first of all, to quote terrorize her city. Well, within hours of that tweet, you had these 15 people shot outside of this funeral home. You have violence raging in the city. This is a bigger issue than just her talking about maybe some kind of influx of cash or rehabilitation. This is a broad problem within the judicial system in chicago where judges and juries continue to let out criminals. If you look at the people that continually commit these crimes their rap sheet is a mile long. The problem is they are not being kept in jail. They are not being prosecuted properly and being let out and the criminals are running the streets in chicago. And thats why you have the chicago fraternal order of Police President issuing a letter to the white house saying we do need federal help and we need it as soon as possible. Our officers are being attacked and the people who suffer the most, harris, are the people who live in these communities who are being terrorized by the mayor for her refusal to take on the criminals who are running the streets and terrorizing them every single day and they really have no recourse. Its the reason you are seeing conceal carry permit holder permit classes and applications going through the roof. People are doing everything they can to defend themselves while the politicians sit by and allow this to happen. Revictimizeing not just people who get shot in the street but the people who have to live in fear every single day that this is ongoing in the community and the social justice side refuses to deal with it. Harris she should talk with her own police chief. I mean, he was across Television Screens all weekend and yesterday talking about how wait a minute, they actually do need some help on the ground. Its not just in chicago. In portland, federal officers have been dispersing protesters once again outside a federal courthouse and it marks there the 55th straight night of protests. So, of the 58 days since george floyd, 55 of them have been looking similar or like this. And now acting dhs chief chad wolf is promising to have agents stay in that city despite calls from local and state officials for them to leave. Watch. If you are a violent rioter looking to inflict damage, the federal property or Law Enforcement officers, you need to find another line of work. We will not retreat. We will continue to take the appropriate action to protect our facilities and our Law Enforcement officers. Harris so, ben, you know, my question is why do these leaders feel like and you see chad wolf there. Hes in there to do a job. Why do you see that there is not that same kind of urgency among some of these city leaders . I mean, it is odd, after all of these dozens of days we are talking about this, yet, the moment is urgent. Isnt it . Or is it not as democrats say they may not take up Police Reform until 2021 when they have more majority . Ben ben it really is difficult to escape the conclusion that a lot of people in the Democratic Party and the media are invested in chaos. They are rooting for chaos. One of the reasons they are rooting for chaos to create a narrative whereby President Trump is a tyrant and get rid of President Trump. Hard to believe if joe biden were president right now that the mayor of portland would be sitting around naval gazing as his city was attacked by righters and looters as federal courthouses were being attacked. It does feel extraordinarily political. Federal officers going in to protect federal property given the go ahead by federal law. Identified as federal officers. Watching guess at that point toe on the streets something jim clyburn the senator from South Carolina said yesterday thats despicable and lying narrative about people doing the hard work separating sizzles from villains who would destroy us. Harris wow. Emily, you have the line and i wrote it down federal crimes deserve federal response. Is this going to make a difference at this point or does it just ignite things . I think thats the question. With these mayors saying get out of our cities, what does that tell the citizens in the street . Should they fight harder or go home . Wow. Emily federal intervention is the only option left. Local Law Enforcement is not enough. We are watching a war on the streets of portland and, also one here in seattle where i live. And it seems as if the country is numb to it. It seems as if, well, its to be expected that the 55th straight night of protest in portland, the an arcky, th agitation, oh we are used to it. I cant describe how personal it feels for residents or for people like me who have friends and family who are residents in these cities here and how helpless it feels to watch my governor and mayor talk about or down play the violence, down play the destruction. How many officers have to die like Jonathan Shoup here in seattle . How many businesses have to be destroyed like the entire downtown of portland or the entire downtown of seattle for there to be an effective reaction and, harris, you mentioned the need for the mayor to talk with the police chief there in chicago. Well, here last night chief carmin best of the Police Department had a Business Walk with Business Leaders in certain neighborhoods and they everything that they were voicing is so common sense, its so reasonable, hopelessness, not feeling heard, not feeling supported. The destruction, defunding would have. And the fact that city council and the mayor reflect nothing. Final point, its just really hard to hear democratic pundits or pundits in general go on tv and talk about jurisdiction and talk about that the military aggression of Law Enforcement when we are sitting here watching our cities be destroyed. Harris all right. Were going to move on. Election day is still more than 100 days away, just barely. And, yet, campaigns are kicking it into high gear looking to court crucial voters at this second. How americans in key swing states could make their voices heard months in advance. Ok everyone, our mission is to provide complete, balanced nutrition for strength and energy. Whoohoo great tasting ensure with 9 grams of protein, 27 vitamins and minerals, and nutrients to support immune health. To listen, is to hear more than whats being said. And offer the answers that make someone feel truly heard. I understand, lets get started call a Dell Technologies advisor today. Harris 103 days away but elections day may be sooner than you think. President trump and joe biden are facing a time crunch to appeal to voters as key swing states including michigan, pennsylvania and florida will allow early voting beginning in september. Wow, thats coming fast. The Trump Campaign reportedly spent nearly 20 million over the past 20 days on ads, which paint joe biden and democrats as weak on crime. Watch. The radical left wing agenda take over our cities, defund the police, pressure more towns to follow and joe biden stands with them. Harris meanwhile, joe biden and his old boss hit the president over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in a socially distanced conversation set to be released in its entirety tomorrow. Imagine standing up in prison saying its not my responsibility. I take no responsibility . I mean literally. Those words did not come out of our mouths while we were in office. I dont understand his inability to get a sense of what people are going through. He just cant he cant relate in any way. Harris ben shapiro in the house with us today. Is that relatable or not . I think that biden so far to be frank has run a pretty smart campaign. He has been able to stay around in his basement which is really perfect for him since im not sure he is able to go that far outside of his basement in normal circumstances. Because is he running a fairly nondescript campaign makes it difficult wild eyed leftist. When i hear joe biden and barack obama talk about never evaded responsibility. All i can think about all the times barack obama found out about all the things happening inside his administration on the news happened every 36 hours during his administration. Im glad the campaign is kicking into high gear here frankly. The president of the United States has so far failed to lay a glove on biden he may get do it quickly because the polls are not fantastic at this point. Harris jessica . Jessica i do think it works for joe biden to be emphasizing his humanity. People talked about him as potential consoler in chief. Facing 132,000 dead americans thus far and no real plan to combat the coronavirus forthcoming as kids are supposed to go back to school. Americans are looking to someone who seems like frankly they care about whats going on in their homes. Thats Kitchen Table issues because healthcare is an economic issue so for people who say its the economy. Guess what, healthcare is the economy and vice versa. So i think thats smart for joe biden and on the law and order or law and crime ad campaigns that President Trump is putting out there, not only is he grossly misrepresenting what is going on he used footage from 2014 in kiev when key there was a democratic uprising against yanna velicovich to put in one of his ads to trick people to think thats whats going on on americas streets. Not just democrats that think its a problem. They could start using ads Michael Chertoff and tom ridge the first boss of the dhs who both come out and said what President Trump is doing in terms of dispatching federal troops sun settling and unamerican. Joe biden is doing the right thing and President Trump has to focus on that coronavirus. Thats what people care about. They need to stay alive and they need to get back to work. Harris you are right about that. You are looking at on that particular point fox news polling found just this week that covid19 ranks number one by some points. The economy second place at 15 . Katie . Katie yeah, all of those things are tied together and the president has to be able to do more than one thing at a time. And he does care about a lot of things. He cares about the fact that the suicide hotlines in this country are completely overwhelmed. More people are committing suicide as a result of the loss of Economic Prosperity from this virus. He is concerned about the overwhelming and Record Number of overdoses in this country as a result of government shutdowns. And its really easy and convenient for someone to like joe biden to sit and campaign in his basement and criticize all of the really tough hard decisions is that are being made by peoples lives every single day whether its a health decision, economic decision, whether its both of those things intertwined because they are absolutely related when it comes to this pandemic. Easy to sit back and criticize while the president is out there making decisions and, therefore, there are consequences to those decisions good or bad but he is out there making those decisions while joe biden conveniently gets to sit back. One more thing, if joe biden thinks he can really do a better job in a pandemic than President Trump maybe we should look at his record under the Obama Administration and one of his top Campaign Aides last week said its a miracle we didnt have a mass death situation under the swine flu because the Obama Administration did everything single thing wrong despite our best efforts. 60 Million People got the swine flu there are questions joe biden wont answer to the press because he runs off stage after every one of these press conferences. Harris i would love to talk to him as you would too, katie. Katie he should actually harris i would say this though. And i hear it as kind of a republican talking point at times. And it is the stay in your basement. A lot of the video that we just showed was joe biden definitely not in his basement. And i understand when you say he is in the you know, behind the president in terms of not being out front with an oval Office Around him. But i do challenge that a bit because the president is going to be doing some of his virtually, too. We have to because of covid. Emily . Emily thats exactly right, harris. I think that with bidens release of his policy proposals, at least he has taken that step forward and given the president something specific to attack other than just calling him sleepy joe or joe in the basement. I think the president has three advantages at this point. Voter attention, cash on hand, and the leadership opportunities going into this. Now, obviously biden is leading in the polls but i dont think voters are paying attention to that statistically usually until after the convention and after labor day. And in terms of cash on hand, dove tails in with those compelling ads the president is running and certainly will be running even more up to the election. And in terms of leadership opportunities, i think this is sort of my response to jessicas point when is that the need for empathy, absolutely. But i think that voters and americans, right now, are looking for leadership and resuming the daily coronavirus briefings on the president s point while making them databacked and succinct and really taking that leadership role, thats what will really resonate with voters and the americans. Harris people are seeing the top of my head a lot you say such quotable things im writing them all down they are good. Jessica, before we scoot to a commercial, i want to give you a chance just to speak to how you think the president did yesterday. It was short. He was concise. Hitting points. What did you think . Jessica certainly when he was reading off the paper it was good. He said things are going to get worse before they get better. When he went off script he said he would disappear again. Obviously it was strange when he witched gillum maxwell well. He met her a couple of times. That left people scratching heir heads, certainly. I dont know many people that wish her well certainly with what she is being charged with. But he should have dr. Fauci. Harris i will give ben the last word. Elm ben bennie time the president appears to be leading he is going to be doing well. Im glad he is back out there doing that andrew cuomo crappy leader as long as appear to be a leader your numbers are good. About time he got out and showed that he can lead in terms of pr. Harris yeah. Andrew cuomo hearing a whole lot on Nursing Homes right now. All right. A potential Vice President ial pick for joe biden. And the dnc reportedly is making some new moves to embrace Bernie Sanders agenda on issues like universal healthcare and criminal Justice Reform. However, does joe biden risk moving too far left . Its velveeta shells cheese versus the other guys. Clearly, velveeta melts creamier. What i most appreciated about the composition on the Platform Committee is there was representation not just from the Biden Campaign but also from senator Sanders Campaign and really a coming together of so many people who may have supported other candidates. Harris thats atlantas mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms a potential Vice President ial nominee for joe biden. She says the Bernie Sanders has significant influence in drafting the dncs platform. Bottoms is in charge of drafting it, in fact, and the a. P. Is reporting the document currently includes ideas such as universal access to healthcare and an overhaul to the u. S. Criminal justice system. And sharp reductions in Carbon Pollution driving the climate crisis. And its all coming together as the Trump Campaign tries to paint biden as a captive to the far left. Katie . Katie well, haste, there is always going to be a price to pay for a joe biden, the socalled moderate, to be able to unify the Democratic Party and get the people who supported Bernie Sanders who felt like he had the election stolen from him in 2016 he decided he was going to endorse joe biden but he knew instead which is why he didnt want to give up all his delegates, remember that, that they were going to have a large role in the Dnc Convention platform. We saw this long lengthy report between biden and sanders camps about the unity platform there were some discrepancies but given what was in that report in the far left policy pushes that they have gone with the Green New Deal 2. 0, the way they want to deal with an overall of hawmplet and customs and immigration reform, for example, he is being pushed to the far left and his vp will have to be someone that the far left of the party apriest of because that loyalty and those votes in november come at a price for joe biden. Harris you know, jessica, this may make the fine point that it is time for the former Vice President biden to sit down for some serious interviews. The basement talk aside which i think we already talked about that. But while he is out, will he sit and take some important questions because this is the crux of it, right . Who is joe biden politically and who will he be if he gets into the white house . Jessica i dont disagree at all there t. Is time to do long form introduce. He should take chris wall laps invitation take the whole hour and indoors looked super hot and uncomfortable there. It looked uncomfortable to be outside and near 100degree heat. Joe biden is ready for it. Took questions from a completely surprised them that he would. He did a great job. And i think that he should do more of that especially because he needs to explain the complexities of these proposals, what he is getting from the left side of the party, how its getting modified to make sure that he doesnt turn his back on the voters who put him into the democratic nomination position, namely black and brown voters and black women specifically. And so i think that that would be great for him to do. I would note as well that Elizabeth Warren is speaking with Vice President biden. We say that about once every 10 days. Playing integral role on advising him on things like personal bankruptcy and Social Security things that matter for her. I would love to hear him talk more about that and how is he unifying the party. It looks like is he doing a very good job of it. Harris well, and if you are really wanting to talk, emily about criminal Justice Reform because thats one of the things that some on the far left have said they want to deal with and i pointed out yeah, they dont want to do that apparently in policing reform and all of that until they have more majorities on the hill. They are willing to wait in this urgent moment until 2021. With joe biden, i remember a time that Newt Gingrich and senator paul, rand paul were joined alongside in vision with naacp and others to try to reverse some of the harsh sentencing that was part of the criminal Justice Reform, the criminal bill and legislation that biden and clinton worked on and passed. Emily thats exactly right. And especially for me where criminal Justice Reform i hold very dear. There are a few fundamental concepts that most everyone agrees upon that would make a significant and tremendous impact in the system. The system is composed of a million different little segments that are difficult to find agreement on every single step. But a few monday mental concepts would go a really long way in unifying that i think biden is plagued right now with that unification just like hillary hy was in 2016. The flash points are what she talked about earlier, harris, not only criminal Justice Reform, vp pick, platform what he chooses to prioritize coming up into the election. Think about the mayor, pete vs. Sanders debate. Those conflicts dont go away because the party has a nominee. Its incumbent to find some unification because simply being antitrump wont be enough. Harris emily, one of the sharpest minds on the planet. I had forgotten that ben . Ben ben biden making a large scale mistake. The reason is he nominated not because he was so stirring a champion or anyone rallies to his dinism. The reason set nominee the alternative was Bernie Sanders walking back the reason he was nominated by cutting dealings with Bernie Sanders to change the platform to the radical left opens him up to the exactly the same criticism bernie was open to. Vp pick matters a lot. If he picks somebody like Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris or picks somebody perceived as radical he will be seen what he himself declared to be a transitional figure far left of the Democratic Party that is far left popular than the moderate stance he has taken so far in the primaries and now taking toward the general. Harris well, i would love to talk to him about it my team at 1 00 on outnumbered overtime has been reaching out continuously to try to get joe biden to sit down for period of time as well. We will see what happens. Confederates could soon be history in our nations capital. The bill today that would remove statutes of those who fought nor slavery as well as a president ial veto looming over a measure which would remove confederate names from military bases. We won world wars out of these military bases. Im not going to go changing them. Im going not going to change them. Book two separate qualifying stays and earn a free night. Sofi helped me pay off twentythree thousand dollars of credit card debt. They helped me consolidate all of that into one low monthly payment. They make you feel like its an honor for them to help you out. I went from sleepless nights to getting my money right. So thank you. Harris the house is planning to vote on legislation to expel confederate statutes from the nations capitol. The calls for removing statutes who served the confederacy as well as three statues of men who deafened slavery, segregation and racism. This comes a day after house lawmakers approved 740 billion, a defense spending bill that removes confederate names from military bases. That bill approved with the veto proof majority 295 to 125. Despite the bills passage in the house, President Trump has promised to veto it if the cause to rename bases stays in it. A pentagon spokesperson is confident that the president ial will sign the measures which provides pay raises for members of the armed services. This is tied to a lot. How do you see all of it . Ben ben listen you dont want to die on the hill of defending confederate statues and confederate bases. The public is split. Not americans love seeing statues of confederate generals or confederate named bases however however, it would belove the president to push members of the house, republicans and democrats to include a clause that explicitly preserves statute do yous to american founders, the president is right there is no limiting principle for the Democratic Party and the left. He was right when he said this a few years back and criticized come after the confederates and washington and jefferson and lynlincoln. That is happening right now. President should say there are certain things agree maybe move to a museum certainly other things that should not come down. The problem i see is not the confederate statues its obliterate American History as a whole too many people not want to make any sort of distinction there. Harris yeah. Part of the reason why people of color have particularly spoken out against it or not for it in terms of keeping them up or taking them down alveda king the niece of mlk joined me sunday night for a special, katie, her point was there are so many other things she would like to see people focused on at the same time, how about amplifying whats there with more of what should be there, harriet tubman, that whole thing. How do you read it . Katie yeah, i think putting up more statues which is something that has been suggested repeatedly would be a good solution to this. The thing is this is so its a nuanced situation that is being used to make a political point. And my question is why nancy pelosi, if she was really concerned about confederate statues and racism why she wouldnt include someone like senator robert byrd who also have a at that time do you in the capitol to be taken down because he was a kkk member and apparently he doesnt apply because he has a Democrat Party affiliation next it his name. The broader point of this thing thrown into the defense spending bill, harris, democrats did this at the last second because they knew politically it would be bad for the president to veto it. I dont think its fair or helpful to the communities who live with these bases, who really havent had a voice in having a real thorough debate about whether they think these things should be renamed. So rushed through. Democrats did this on purpose. Is it a hill to die on as ben said not necessarily they did do it for political purposes to put the president and these communities in a bad position. Harris as a child i spent a lot of years on fort bragg my dad was stationed there twice. The conversation that goes on among the bases among the people who actually live there might be different if we were actually listening to it than the rest of the nation. Jessica, i will give you a quick chance to respond. Jessica i really like bens proposal. I dont think this is obviously a hill forever the president to die on even if it is split 50 50 here. He would surprise a lot of people you know what . I thought about it and robert e. Lee has no place in the National Conversation right now and having a statue in his honor, obviously, gives him some sort of position. To say you are not coming for jefferson or lincoln or washington. I was particularly disturbed to see that a statue of Frederick Douglass was terrorized. Ulysses s. Grant from a park from where i am right now. People drawing a line in the sand between harris people dont know history. Jessica no they dont know history. They wont be taught it with the way we are doing it at this point. The line in the sand if you were a creator in the United States of america, you dont get things named after you if you founded the country you do get things named after you. Pretty simple rule. Harris that was such a good point though. And people dont know their history and thats the whole point no matter where you fall on this. Oak, hollywood stars, professional athletes and even private individuals have been targeted by cancel culture. But is this practice something to be afraid of . Canceling everything you dont like . New the Washington Post oped argues americans shouldnt be afraid of it and claims it isnt stifling free speech but rather creating an opportunity for learning, quote when cans lers target essay or paper or tweet the author could listen and learn. Gee, i never thought of it that way. Thank you for broadening my perspective. Or, the author could demonstrate the truth and good faith of the statement under attack. It isnt enough in these times to shrug and say get over it. So, ben, this author is essentially the author of the oped is essentially arguing that cancel culture is okay because if you actually have a solid argument you will be able to defend it and push through the consequences of cancel culture. But i often hear we need to have a conversation about x, y, and z but when people have that conversation they are canceled and they are destroyed, their lively hoods. Ben ben we have to make a pretty significant distinction between i disagree with you, lets have a conversation and let me talk to your boss about what you just said that i disagree with let me talk to your advisors about what you said i disagree with to conflate the two is the purest form really is ridiculous. The cancel culture deeply unpopular. 62 of americans are afraid of saying what they think publicly afraid to be canceled. Only 10 of americans believe that cancel culture according to another poll believe that cancel culture has not gone far enough. All 10 of those people work in Mainstream Media outlets or in University Administrations or in the halls of corporate power. Have you basically a woke subculture now dictating to the rest of the United States what you are and are not allowed to say. Because the rest of the United States is too polite or shy they dont stand up and throw the bird which is really what they ought to do in these circumstances. Katie jessica, you had bari weiss resign from the New York Times saying twitter is not on the map head but they are certainly on the paper now. Is it a problem that people have different points of view that people dont like are completely canceled out . Jessica i do think it is a problem. Bari weiss will go on to have a wholesome career and hired somewhere else or start her own outlet. I do think she raised a number of important points especially in seeing what happened over the tom cotton oped that appeared in the New York Times where the editor who handled it was let go and replaced promptly. It is concerning to me. I obviously do want people to have a thorough exchange of ideas. Im a liberal that appears with mostly conservatives as we can see on the panel and i relish that opportunity and to speak to people who might not agree with me to hopefully present a side or perspective that they hadnt considered. Maybe vote for joe biden on november 3rd. But, at the end of the day, we need our institutions to be places where people can question and questioning for me is the key to all of this. Its made out as people who are about to get canceled are always just saying these horrible things and making broad declarations. But a lot of times people are getting in trouble for asking questions. And as to our last segment as to knowing our history, if we dont have the ability to ask questions and have thoughtful conversation about that we are going to be in a heap of trouble. While im not as concerned as maybe some on the right are i certainly do see it as an issue for american discourse in our future. Katie emily, your thoughts . Emily yeah, cancel culture is antithetical to learning its us pressing erase and mute button rather than dialogue. There is no opportunity for growth when you are extinguished there is no opportunity for learning when you are stifled. No one gave ceo of goya foods to say i accepted the invitation with then First Lady Michelle Obama to work on School Food Program just like i accepted President Trumps because i respect the office of the presidency, they just canceled him. But we heard that on fox friends here on this network because we gave him that opportunity to explain himself. No one is affording those sort of the people who incite cancel culture, no one is affording them that opportunity. Katie i think also the issue is he shouldnt have to explain himself. Thats what people have to do these days. All right, ben shapiro has a new book out and he is going to tell us about it, next. Ut the refina. Theres no appraisal or income verification, and you dont have to spend a single dollar out of pocket. One call to newday can save you 3000 a year. Well the names have all. Welcome back, america. It sure is good to see you. Katie ben shapiro has a new book out how to destroy america in three easy steps. Ben, tell us all about it. Congratulations. Ben ben i appreciate it. The basic thesis of the book is america isnt broken between right and left so much as it is broken between people who wish to maintain country as a country and people who wish to destroy the entire system. Unionists believe in these. Shared philosophy of the declaration of independence. Entrepreneurship and culture for other peoples rights and militant standard for those rights history of american accomplishment and achievement overcoming obstacles and fulfillment of the incident grace of. Integratists want to desolve all those bonds and see us as competing interests groups clubbing each other over the head for power. See it in the polling data and it in the streets the effect of integrationists taken over cultural institutions and some of our educational institutions. What we are waging is a cultural war for the soul and future of the country. The country is going to continue to exist with a shared philosophy history and culture not exist at all or fall apart. A lot of people are rooting for that dissolution. Katie all right. Can you read more about that in bens book. Thank you to jessica and emily today. Ben, thank you for joining us on the virtual couch.
