Theres a a massive manhunt underway for, what police say, the driver of the vehicle. 18yearold Moussa Oukabir is believed to have been the one that drove his white van down the promenade here, striking and hitting people along the way, more than 100 people injured and at least 13 people were killed. Police that he fled that van after extraction. He still wanted, but they are telling us more about the network of cell of people who were involved in these two twin attacks, one here in barcelona and the other one just thought in cambrils. There were at least five people to carry the attack down south. They were all shot and killed. Theyve arrested four people. There are a total of ten people to be believed a part of the cell. Reports that there are also looking for others, thats not confirmed yet but they are saying that they are looking for this one Moussa Oukabir. We are also learning more about some of those who were injured and killed, according to the state department, we are finding out now that there was at least one american. We have now received word and confirmed that one american citizen in the terrorist attack in spain amongst those who have been killed. We are still confirming the injuries and deaths of others, but obviously we express our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of this individual. And obviously, the others who have been suffered loss of life and we offer ours thoughts and prayers. Just to give you a sense of what a popular Tourist Destination this is, there is an american that was killed, the brits were injured, somebody from china, pakistan, venezuela, hungary. Its gigantic list of countries who are affected here. Police are saying right now the priority is to try and find the driver, but as weve seen throughout the day today, the list of people, the cell network, continues to get larger. Its very possible there will be other names added to this list. This was a big, well organized attack, not only here and barcelona but also in that little seaside village. There is a third incident that Security Officials say that was related. Somebody detonated a bomb in a village not too far from here. This is a big, wellplanned attack. I think more of the fact, we have to be very careful that the instinct isnt to grab onto more power and squash more people with their civil liberties. When we cast too big of an intelligence net, we have to take all of these unfortunate examples and refine Law Enforcement and intelligence gathering so we do go after the right people and dont let them go which happens in so many cases. They want the president to protect us and they voted for him to protect us. I think he was largely elected because of that. I also think it was a perspective from spain. My mom from spain, i grew up in spain and lived there for five years. I have a lot of relatives there. Lastly, we talked about the travel ban. The president was also referring to the infrastructure bill to secure us from that as well. Last week in spain, a boatload of people from north africa, muslims from north africa, showed up on a beach. They made their way over to the shores of spain and just got off the beach. The police couldnt even capture all of them. They are having their own border problems there. The catalonia happens to be the region of spain with the highest number of muslim immigrants, partly because so many secessionists within that government and the Political Party want to bring those people and in order to have more votes for their political cause. Harris i like to look for similarities and what we are talking about. We have covered so much of their challenge and struggle in terms of letting people in from the somali and muslim community. Much of it has been successful, but we know just last june, they were quite a few young somali muslim men who were found guilty of trying to join isis in minneapolis in the suburbs ther there. What similar . Well, catatonia, as i understand it, is in a very similar situation where the assimilation has been a challene for those people. For whatever reason, but the bottom line is, the next step in all this is how do you work with those community . The young men that they are looking for now, the terrorist is 18, if he started a year or so ago, he was a legally an adult yet. That means his web his family and friends. Think about those teenagers you know. They are worldly in their minds, but their pocketbooks arent. My point in saying this is, we are facing this challenge in a country already. All of this as President Trump tweeted that removing the monuments is ripping apart our nations history and culture. Where are you on this, lawrence . Lawrence the statues, i get it. They are upset about it, and im not saying i like the statues. At the end of the day, removing the statue is not going to make lives better for black folks. Im sorry, its not. Economic prosperity is going to make lives better. I get the debate, i think local cities should decide, states should decide, but i think this has become a distraction on what really matters for the black community about my community, and i think we should be more focused on Economic Prosperity, education. Just because you remove a statute does not going to take kate out of that certain races hard im sorry. Rachel is a really tough issue. I dont really understand a lot of cultural things that come from there. I do think that removing them via a mob doesnt seem to advance the cause, which is unifying people around our american values. I think this whole conversation about statues is premature. I think whats happening in our culture, it needs to start with our kids. We need to talk more about we need to unify around, which is our values, political constitutions, the flag, patriotism. We need a lot more conversation about that and a lot less about this and diversity in all the things that actually separate us. If we started from there, these conversations will be easier to have. Harris if youll allow me, i want to come back to this. You know in the black community that there is this feeling that there might be pain around the statues. Im from the south. Im from georgia. I was born on a military base down there. Ive heard the conversations about that. What youre talking about also is not just economic reform, it demands of people who look like you and me then do the things to pull ourselves up to make that inequality about economics and opportunity and remaking. Lawrence most definitely. I understand the pain as well. I dont want to see a confederate flag. I know that everyone that can varies of flag is not i dont want to see it. What i saw that tells me youre not welcome. Not for everybody, but for me. Thats what makes me feel like. At the end of the day, it revolves around money. You know, when you look at the numbers, Economic Prosperity is not going so well. I dont want people of color to get so distracted on the statue and not the issues directly affecting our community. Sandra there was an opinion piece in the wall street journal this wire that goes along those lines. The statues are meant to unite but also to educate us. Richmonds mayor has solution. He saying leave the statues but provide context to them. He believes the revolutionaries have important truths. He says he is advocating for adding contents to the monuments that will set the historical record straight. I wanted to run that idea past you. Lawrence i dont think people care if its telling us what the historical relationship it is. At the end of the day, sometimes i think when you remove history, you set yourself up to repeat it. Sometimes the statues can serve as a reminder. Dont go back there, dont forget it. Harris i want to pull up a quick poll. You might ask yourself im a kennedy, why with the then begin to change his view on things . Maybe its a response from the community, maybe hes had a heart change, who knows. Before the fact that we are having a conversation about history is important. Erasing your history means you cant learn important lessons from it. I actually think our country is Strong Enough to have a discussion about these painful lessons and do provide context. Go to communities across the country. He likes being on the road, this is his opportunity. Going to and of color. Have some humility. Have him understand why this was wrong to you and you broke your heart. You know what, im going to do better. Im going to fix the economic status in your community. Im going to help fix the education system. This was an emotional week for all of us, and its understandable. At the end of the day, what onr emotions i dont, we have real issues. This is what the president needs to do with. Not just go to rallies with the people who are already supporting you. Go find the people that want to support you. If you want to look for opportunities, it doesnt always have to be about the baseline of where we are. He can mix it up. When im watching with every entry of president obama is how he takes on bernie sanders. Hillary clinton tried. She succeeded but barely. The former president couldnt take hillary over the line into the end zone. He couldnt do it. He couldnt seal the deal with his unique coalition, and now its going to be a massive chasm in the Democratic Party and you have progressives on one side and whether you like it or not, president obama still represents the establishment. Thats the case and thats really just how not deep their bench is. There can always be a star that emerges later on. Harris barack obama, like he did come out right. It moves things back into positive territory if they got rid of steve bannon. That was the discussion that was being reported on. If, in fact, this was in reaction to whats happened all week long, what does that tell us . Kennedy it tells us that the president s of three reactions to charlottesville show a rift within the white house. John kelly came in, hes been a very decisive chief of staff. Perhaps steve bannon leak some of the biggest doors out of the white house but that his relationship with the president has grown very, very frosty. Who helped mr. Trump win the 2016 election. This is according to two Administration Officials inside that discussion telling the New York Times. There are people apparently in the room as the discussion was going on. Thats an important fact too. One thing we do know is that we will find out, probably in short order. When Anthony Scaramucci came back onto the scene, he was very critical of steve bannon very publicly saying, he felt that he should have been removed. At the the backandforth that we now know existed between bannon and other people on the staff is coming out. Kennedy to your point exactly, youve nailed it. Anthony scaramucci was removed when general john kelly came in as chief of staff. He had, what he claims he thought, was an awesome record conversation with every new york reporter and that steve bannon had a very similar. He claims it was also an off the record conversation. Lawrence that was the parting gift. Its before there were some incendiary things in there thatt break, i thought to myself thats absolutely it. General kelly is going to look at this and say to himself, we cannot have these people who are in charge of messaging and policy in the white house talking to reporters in these terms in this way. Sandra remember what trump said about standing on the first floor of trump tower just a couple days ago, refusing to guarantee bannons job security. He defended him saying his work, his not a racist, and called my friend. He did and if i sing will see what happens with mr. Bannon. Kennedy he said the same thing about james comey and reince priebus. Lawrence i dont think the president wanted bannon out of the white house. For a couple reasons. Steve bannon you dont want him controlling the conservative meet media. Harris thats what ive been reading for a couple weeks. How do you handle this very prickly situation with steve bannon . He can hurt you if he goes awry and doesnt agree with you. How do you keep that and are they as close as the president has said . May be that something you dont have to worry about. Lawrence i think that it helps the president. I think bannon was a problem for the very beginning. He did indeed help them in the beginning because you got that part of the base to support the president as a result, but now, i think its time to part ways. He will go after the president now that he will be back in control. Harris you seem so sure of that but they were close. Sandra people who advise the president , do they sign a nondisclosure agreement . Is a something that you have to sign when you work for the president that says you will not take certain jobs mexico harris there must be some leeway there. Just real quick, from the interview that she thought was off the record. He said as no nationalism, its a losers, its a french element. I think the media places too much we had to help crush it more. Steve bannon is one of the people thats closest to the president ideology if not personally, and the president has said they came into the campaign late that he was clearly a force during the campaign and a force there at the white house, but they are now controlled by two sources and steve bannon will be leaving the white houses. Its also likely to that this is just the first shoe to drop. There was steve bannon sometimes against reince priebus, sometimes allied with reince priebus. And then some of the other factions of the white house including jared kushner. I dont know for sure, but i would think that this is not the last departure that we are going to hear of from this white house. A lot of people, by the way, have said that steve bannon is the president s connection to the base. In some way he is, but he also has Kellyanne Conway, who is very much in the Republican Party. The fact that steve bannon is leaving will be a loss for a president. He has some other back up there in maintaining that connection with the base and certainly the republicans.
