Time. Considering the subject is no good. Because the subject is about our country. And our country is in trouble. Between the debt, between the joblessness, and let me tell you, with a phony 5 numbers you hear about unemployment, its a phony number. A phony number. Its a number that when somebody looks for a job, and i dont want to have you raise your hand because you may be embarrassed. I would be a little embarrassed. Somebody looks for a job, and they give up. And theyre great people. Theyre unbelievable. They worked all their lives. They cant find a job, right . And they give up. Now theyre considered statistically employed. So we show this phony number. And on that, i dont blame obama so much because frankly, that was to make president s look good and make politicians look good, which is not an easy thing to do, okay . Because they want to show, oh, how wonderful the economy. So just as i was getting off the plane today, we announce trade deficit numbers for the month which were like almost record setting. We have trade deficits that are worse than ever before. All i have done for years is talk about trade deficit. I used to talk about japan. Now i talk more about china. Its still japan. Its everybody. Its everybody. We dont make good deals with anybody. But last night, i was talking about trade because i love it. Its my favorite subject. That and strengthening our military and taking care of our vets. Theyre my favorite subjects. Theyre my favorite subjects. Other than my children or my grandchildren. I could talk about my grandchildren, lets see, he was 39 minutes in the back of a plane talking about his grandchildren. Ladies and gentlemen, the president is going to talk about his grandchildren. I have two. He has two. I have eight. He has two. But he talked about how long i bet theyre beautiful. Two beautiful children. He says theyre beautiful. Theyre really smart. Theyre really good. I love them so much. Theyre unbelievable. You know, brandnew beautiful little baby. Okay, after about a minute, what can you talk about . Oh, you can say, heres a picture, look. Look. Okay. So thats one minute out of the 39 minutes of time, right . Then we talk about golf. Right . So you say, Jack Nicklaus, who endorsed me, i love jack. I love jack. The greatest. Jack. Did you know jack endorsed me . Did you know how young jack was when he won the ohio state championship . Jack nicklaus, the greatest guy. Hes a friend of mines. And he endorsed me. I didnt ask for the endorsement. I dont want to do that. I feel sort of guilty when i ask people for endorsements. Jack endorsed me. I said, thank you, jack, i appreciate it. He said, well, youre going to do a great job, shake things up. When you talk about winners, is jack a winner, right . The u. S. Open was on the other day. I think Jack Nicklaus was in the top ten, like, i think it was 18 times. He was in the top i have never seen anything like it. His record is unbelievable. He won it four times. Top ten 18 times. This guy is a winner. Right . So when i get endorsements from Jack Nicklaus, bobby knight, bobby knight. Bobby knight. Bobby will be speaking at the convention. We have so many people. We have such a Great Convention planned. But i just have to go back. So final thing. Last night, made a great speech. Standing ovation. Everyone went crazy. Nobody talks about that. Every time i go home, my wife says how was the crowd . They only show when we have protesters. I love my protesters, dont we have any damn protesters today . When we have protesters, do we have one . No. Hes friend or foe . Hes friend. Okay. But i love my protesters. Because the cameras spin around at angles you wouldnt believe. They do somersaults around. They look like a sausage. Because i went my first ten speeches, i had no protesters. Every time i went home, big crowds, when i went home, did you see the size of the crowd . No, i didnt. Last night, you heard the size. Many, many more than the president and hillary got. So people would say, well, i hear it. You know, they hear that sort of humming. Thats not like from 12 people. But we have this, so what happens is last night, we have a great evening in north carolina. Were going to win north carolina. Were doing great. Were going to win ohio. Were doing great here. By the way, the section i just left last week, wonderful congressman and his wife, i said to him, i wont use his name, i dont want to embarrass anybody, and i said will you endorse me . Even if i dont like you, i would endorse you. You know why . You have a 29point lead in this section of ohio. I said, youre right. You have to endorse me. Were going to take care of our miners and our steal woel worke. Hillary is snot. Shes going to put you out of business because if she ever won, she would sign tpp, which will make nafta, which was signed by her husband, which was the worst, in my opinion, the worst trade deal in the history of this country, and its not even close. Signed by bill clinton. And he didnt suffer from it. It was everybody that followed him that suffered from it. Where your jobs are moving, i look adyour jobs, where theyre moving down to mexico, right . Theyre moving to mexico, one after the other. China is coming and dumping the steel, making it impossible for your steel plants. Theyre devaluing their currency. We do nothing about it. Folks, im going to do so much about it. Going to be so easy. So easy. Its going to be so easy. So last night, we had this and then i wake up and i hear, number one, i love Saddam Hussein. I hate Saddam Hussein. But i love Saddam Hussein according to the press because theyre dishonest as hell. They heard what i said. And number two, and they said it very, very strongly. They said he should have spoken about Hillary Clinton longer. I wrote out like four pages that i wrote out. And i read it. Point by point by point. And after a long time, i dont know, many, many minutes, you know, i got thousands of people. And this really stupid guy, chuck todd, i wont use his name. I refuse to use his name. I refuse to call him sleepy eyes. Im not going to call hip sleepy eyes anymore. Hes talking about, he had an opportunity to hit Hillary Clinton. Did you see what i did to her last night . I just went am i correct . I mean, it got to a point i was hitting her so hard, and the problem is im a professional. And im hitting her so hard. I know it doesnt mean anything because the system is rigged, and its fixed and its broken. So im doing it and im doing it because i feel i have to do it. Its sort of boring to do it, to be honest with you. I wanted to get on to the military and the vets. I wanted to get on to these other subjects. I wanted to get on to terror because we are going to experience things that you wont even believe, folks. Watch predictions. Lots of predictions, right . And i wanted to get on to terror. And one of the reasons the women are liking me a lot lately is because thank you, thank you. Thank you. Because they feel im going to keep our country safe. Im going to keep our country safe. And they love ivanka. And they love milania. And milania and ivanka and eric and tiffany and don are going to be speaking at the convention. So were going to and by the w way, so just to finish, by the way, so i get hit this morning, like, he had the opportunity to go after everyone said i made a great speech. I tell you how bad my speech was last night. Cnn covered it from point to point without a commercial. Fox covered it practically from beginning to end. Others covered it. Thats how bad my speech was yesterday. Thats how bad. You know, if it were bad, folks, these guys, they dont care about polls. They dont care about anything. They only care about one thing. Whats ratings. So i made a speech last night that some of the folks gave an a to, some gave an aplus to, but when i saw cnn, sleepy eyes chuck todd this morning, it said he had a chance to really go after Hillary Clinton. Oh, what i did to her. But you know, after a while, we have tuke about other things. Okay, so heres the story. Were going to make America Great again. Were going to make America Great. Were going to take our country back, for everybody, not for us. Not for this room. Not for this room, not for the overflow room. Not for the people outside. Were going to take our country back for everyone. Were going to take it back for africanamerican youth who have a 59 Unemployment Rate, by the way. 59 . Were going to take it back for africanamerican youth who have a 59 Unemployment Rate and have no chance. They have no chance in our society. You know who i just spoke to . Big don king. Big don king. Just spoke to him ten minutes ago. I said, don, i would love you to speak at the convention, because you know what . You beat the system. And hes a friend of mine. Big don. Greatest boxing promoter of all time. In fact, somebody said, and mike tyson endorsed me, as you know. And don king endorsed me. You know what don king did . He owns a newspaper. He endorsed donald trump for president. Bernie sanders for environmenvi president. And he put a big ad in the paper, his paper. He wants Bernie Sanders for Vice President. I said thats a new one. Big don king. [ crowd chanting ] wow. I like that, too. We like we like newt. And i tell you what. Newt, newt has been my friend for a long time. And im not saying anything, and im not telling even newt anything, but i can tell you, in one form or another, Newt Gingrich is going to be involved with our government. That i can tell you. Okay . Hes going to be involved. Hes smart. Hes tough. He gets it. And he says im the biggest thing hes ever seen in the history of politics. Now, newt is going to be involved, if i can get approval from his wife. That may be tough, but thats okay. And you know, i have somebody else very special here. So i have wonderful children. And you know, im lucky, they were smart, they were born smart. They are smart. God was good. And they went to great schools. And they did well. And theyre in business, and they do well, and they feel so strongly about what im doing. They dont even like it in terms of doing it themselves. They pluv whlove what theyre d. My one boy is here, eric trump, eric. And im very proud of eric. Hes done a great job in the real estate business. Now i throw him into the political business. Hes doing a damn good job, but he loves the real estate. You know what i did . Let me tell you a story. I love this crowd. Isnt it nice when you dont read from a speech . Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much for being here. Or hillary with the teleprompters every time. And whether you go north and south or east and west, donald trump is a bad person. Donald trump made a lot of money on atlantic city, but he hurt the little people. She calls it the little people. You hurt the little people. Made a lot of people, and government, what they did. I tell you. Did you see that sham . I left seven years ago. But she goes, and then after a little while, you ever notice after about 12 minutes, people start leaving . We cant do that. The nice part is, let me tell you, so i go to scotland and i know im going to get killed because the press is so dishonest. I went there to make sure that my boy, i bought turnberry four or five years ago, and were doing this massive renovation like were going to be opening the Old Post Office in october, a year ahead of schedule. I could open it sooner but i want to get it as close to the election as possible. Does that make sense . In fact, i could open it in august. Im delaying the opening because i want it to be so close because when i open it, even if i delay it a month or two, the hotel is going to open sooner, but i want to say, were more than a year ahead of schedule, and were under budget, and the product is even better than i said it was going to be, right . Maybe ill open it on november 7th. The day before the big day. Oh, were going to have and the press will be there. Theyll be there by the hundreds, but they wont say were underbudget. They wont say were ahead of schedule, but thats okay. People know. What happened is we have children. And i want to support my children. I think i have been a good father. And i want to support my children. So i put eric trump like individual things, ivanka has been great, don has been great, tiffany is just starting now. Shes just graduating from college. Baron has great potential, but hes 10. But hes got great potential. But i put my children as they grow older in charge of different things. I put eric in charge of the great turnberry resort in scotland where the home of the briti british open, which now they call the open championship. And eric spent the last year going back and forth. He would spend two days over there and go back and fight with contractors and he got great contractors and they did an unbelievable job. I have been hearing about it. I said, you know, if i go over there, these dishonest horrible human beings are going to say trump went over to play golf in the middle of the campaign, but i have to support my children. So i said, you know what. I want to fly over and im going to fly back. And i want to support my son. So what happened just to show you, no, no. Just to show you how dishonest Hillary Clinton is, and the press, so i go out. We have the bagpipes, we have everything. We have a Ribbon Cutting on the ninth tee, on the beautiful ninth tee overlooking the ocean and the beautiful lighthouse, one of the greatest courses. We rebuilt everything, we rebuilt the hotel. Its great. And that was the day that europe had the big turn where uk left, right . They left. And i said, not bragging, but i have a pulse, right . Thats what we need, we need somebody with touch. We have horrible people who have no touch, no brain, no nothing. So you had obama, that happens, theyre going to go to the back of the line. I think obama might have been the reason that they broke away. Okay. He doesnt help things. He actually said that the uk is going to the back of the line. Not a nice statement. Not a nice statement. Can you imagine if i said that . The back of the line . Oh, would i been killed for that statement. So he said theyre going to the back of the line. Okay, bottom line is they asked me a lot of times, i said, no, i think theyre going to break away. I think they want their unless. I think theyre going to break away. I see whats happening with migration, countries are forced against their will to take people. They dont want them. Instead of building these wonderful places where they can ultimately go back to their homeland, where they want to anyway, theyre just being forced. So germany is a disaster right now. Sweden, parts of sweden. I mean, things are really bad. So i said, i think theyre going to and by the way, the odds were 20 that i would be right. 20 , because they said its not going to happen. Thats going to be the end of that. I was right. They broke away. They broke away. I was right. And then the next day, they said, oh, trump was right. The same thing could happen in the united states. Let me tell you, were going to be right a second time. Its going to happen again, because were tired of incompetent people. Were tired of incompetent leadership and incompetent people, and Hillary Clinton, i said bad judgment. Shes incompetent. The only good thing shes ever done is get out of trouble when anybody else would have been in jail by now. Thats the only thing that i have ever seen her do that was a great job. I got to give her credit. I got to give her credit. I got to give bill clinton credit for going to that plane and saying for 39 minutes he talked about his grandchildren and he talked about golf. Theres no way you could do that. I told you, two minutes for the grandchildren, two minutes for golf. We have 35 or 36 minutes left. What are we lets talk about hillary. And hillary then talks about, i think i would reappoint the attorney general. And youre waiting for a decision by the attorney general. And youre saying youre going to give her a job. Youre not allowed to do that. Thats bribery, folks. And then the attorney general comes out, as newt said, but the attorney general comes out and the attorney general says, no charges. Thats bribery. Wouldnt you say . Thats bribery. Youre not supposed she said shes going to reappoint the attorney general, and the attorney general is waiting to make a determination as to whether or not shes guilty. And boy, was that a fast determination. Wow. Could have waited at least a little longer. Dont just come out with one or two sentences. Talk about it a little bit. So look, again, again, trouble. So heres what happened. I go to scotland. Beautiful, the weather was beautiful. The waves are crashing up on the rocks. Were opening the course. Getting ready to cut a ribbon. We have so many press. We had over 400. The legendary hope, how many . 400 . 450. It was unbelievable because they were all there for brexit. They were all there to see what was going to happen. Will the uk break away . Now thats about six hours old, so theyre bored. They want the next story. The next story is trump. So i go there. And all of a sudden, i start hearing these things. Whats trump doing in scotland . Hes playing golf. Okay, so i have a news conference. A great news conference. Even newt said that was a great news conference. I did a good job, newt . When he says i did a good job, hes a critical guy. He sometimes says he doesnt like what im saying. Newt, newt so let me just tell you. So i say, any questions . Im not talking about any questions. And the place goes crazy. The cameras, im telling you, we had as big a group of media as you have ever seen. They all drove up from london. Everybody converged. Im taking questions. One of the questions was, mr. Trump, if the pound goes down, how will turnberry do . So i say, i didnt bring this up. I said, look, heres what happens. If the pound goes down, turnberry will do very well because a lot of people are going to travel to the uk. Theyll come to scotland. Turnberry is going to do well if the pound goes down. I answered the question. Next day its in an ad from crooked Hillary Clinton and im all over the place, but they dont show the question. Heres the thing. Did you hear donald trump . All he talked about was his resort. They show me. They dont show the question. If the pound goes down, turnberry is going to do very well. Okay. Then, they gave me a golf club. I said i dont want to touch it. I dont want to touch golf. I dont im leaving. I inspected the hotel. I inspected the course. I said, eric trump, you did a great job. Im getting the hell out of here now. I want to be back campaigning. I want to get out. Congratulations. My boy, i love you. Come up, eric, come up. I love you, my boy. I love you. I said thats my 66 boy, but hes always going to be my boy, right . So i said, eric, im out of here. Im going. Im leaving. I gotta go. So mr. Trump, would you like to hit the first ball. I dont want to touch your club because i know if i touch a club, these horrible, horrible human beings, plus the Hillary Clinton thousand people staff she has, right, will come up with a clip of me holding a club. I dont want to touch it. So we cut the ribbon. I inspected the property. Im very proud of the job he did. Unbelievable job. And i went around, and i got out of there. I was in scotland one night. Thats not easy. Its a long trip, right . I was there one night, and i was out of there. So heres what happens. The next day, the news comes on. Donald trump went to scotland in the middle of the campaign to play golf. But heres whats worse. They took my statement on the pound, if the pound goes down, turnberry is going to do great. They dont know im answering a question. Everyone thinks im bragging and i want the pound to go down. Heres worse. The crooked, crooked disgusting group that works for Hillary Clinton, now remember, i never touched a club. I never they show me hitting a ball. Donald trump playing golf in scotland during the, you know, troubles and Everything Else of the world. And they put it in an ad. But the picture was from two years before. And a different course. The only good thing, no, its true. And they said playing golf at turnberry. Two good things happened out of it. Number one, the head of turnberry said, did you take an ad because were swamped with business . I said, really . Thats good, right . Thats good. And the other thing is the swing looked good. They didnt put one of my bad swings. The swing actually looked good. So hillary, thank you very much. You know what. How dishonest is that . So they show me playing golf at turnberry and i didnt play golf. The picture was two years old or more. In fact, it was more. You know how i can tell it was more . I was even thinner. I said man, i like that. Actually, i love the swing and i look thin. Well, relatively thin, okay. But i just want to say, this young guy, my daughter, my other son don, my wife, who puts up with a lot with all of that going on, this is big stuff. This is big stuff. But my family has been so my sister, who is incredible. My sister who is a federal judge, court of appeals. High other sister elizabeth. My Brother Robert who is a great guy. I have one brother who passed away. But i have great children. Tiffany has been so amazing. My kids, my family have been so unbelievable. This is not easy for them. They go out, mostly people love it, but some people dont. You know, the one thing thats interesting, and i told this to eric on the plane. My wife said, you know, when you go out, Everybody Loves you. Now, most people love you, but theres people who dont. You never had those people before. I said, but we have to make America Great again. And ultimately, hopefully, my biggest dream is to have those people love me, too, not because of me, but because were going to do such a great job. Does that make sense . So ill introduce ill introduce eric trump. Eric trump did an unbelievable job. Hes doing an unbelievable job. And he was pushed into the world of politics not because he wanted it but because i said good luck on television tonight. Youre doing the show. So eric trump, everybody. Wow. Wow. Wow. Thank you. We have some good fans over there. My father is just the greatest. I mean, i truly say this from the bottom of my heart. I love him to death. As a family, we love him. And thank you for loving him. As a family, we are so proud of him. He is going to win this. We are going to win this. He is going to make America Great again. We are going to beat crooked Hillary Clinton, no question about it. Were going to bring this country back. Thank you guys so much for all the support from our entire family. Thank you. We love you all. Thank you, eric. Thank you. Thank you to your brothers and sisters. Thank you to everybody, and the family has been just incredible. So when i was getting off the plane, i wanted to tell you, a couple good things, a couple bad things. The country, whats going on. Terrorism is just a horrible, horrible level. People dont feel safe. Polls are coming out saying they feel more unsafe right now than they have at any time for many, many years. Were going to make you feel safe again. Youre going to feel safe. Im very, very proud of the fact that when we ran, that in the history of the republican party, we got the most votes ever, almost 14 million votes. More than anybody who has ever run. Im very proud of that fact. And maybe more important, and i want to thank the rnc and reince priebus. Hes been great. Reince has been really great. And i mean that 100 . Hes been so amazing. And he works hard. Hell fly, if theres an event in california, he will fly on that plane and be there and say, werent you just in washington . Yes, i flew to be at the event. The guy is really terrific. But it was Just Announced that the republicans in terms of the primary voters final count, final count, 62 up from four years ago. Unheard of. Thats an unheard of number. That is an unheard of did you know that, newt . That is an unheard of number. The democrats, ooh, there was a mosquito. I dont want mosquitoes around me. I dont like mosquitoes. I dont like those mosquitoes. I never did. Okay, speaking of mosquitoes. Hello, hillary. How are you doing . So the democrats, the democrats were down with all the Bernie Sanders stuff and everything, and by the way, our crowds are so much bigger, its not even close. With all of the things you hear, the democrats are down 21 . From four years ago. Theres no real enthusiasm. They had enthusiasm for bernie. But bernie was outflanked by the establishment. He was really outflanked. He never really had a chance. Frankly, i wouldnt have had a chance except we were owinning y such large numbers. Florida, 21point victory. Won 66 of 67 counties. New york, pennsylvania, connecticut. You look at all these different places, rhode island, maryland, delaware. We had a group where we won every single county in every single state. In california, i got 78 of the vote, and there were still lots of names on there. And you know, when you have the largest number of votes in the history of the republican party, and we had 17 people running, folks. Thats a big difference as opposed to two or three or four. We had 17 people. So its impossible to win that number when you have 17 people. And we won easily. More than ronald reagan, when we love. More than richard nixon. More than the bushes. More than dwight d. Eisenhower, who did have a lot to do with the Second World War victory, in all fairness. That was great. The bad part is this. In coming off the plane, i heard that our trade numbers are a disaster. A disaster. Getting worse than ever before. Were losing so much money. We have trade deficits that are so massive. Not only with china, not only with mexico, which is massive. I take my hats off to the leadership of mexico for the job they have done on us. They treat us like were babies. They treat us, at the border and with trade. You ever see the Companies Moving to mexico . I think i won indiana largely because Carrier Air Conditioning Company i love indiana. I also won because of the great bobby knight. Bobby knight. I told you the story where bobby called up. He said, sir, you have to run for president. That was a year before i did it. You have to run for president. I said, is this really bobby knight . I didnt know bobby. Then when i ran, i got to indiana, somebody said, do you think you could ever get bobby knight . I said i think so. I pulled up the stack and had his paper and had his number. He picks up the phone. He goes, i have been waiting for you to call. Hes a cool dude. He won 900 games. He won three championships for indiana. He won the olympics. He won the panamgames. He had the last undefeated season in college basketball. Hes a winner. Jack nicklaus, total winner. And jack, you know, in ohio, i mean, to me, having his endorsement is so great, but jack and bobby, we have so many unbelievable champs endorsing. So many unbelievable champs. So heres the story, folks. Were going to turn it around. Were going to bring our jobs back to this country. And were going to bring them back big league. Were not going to let companies were not going to let companies leave our country without their being consequences. Consequences. As an example, when carrier left, and they left 1400 people, and those 1400 people, many of them followed me all over indiana. They love trump. Because im the only one that spoke their language. They were fired like dogs. They were fired by a midlevel management guy. They had jobs, some of them, for 30 years. They were fired viciously, like you never saw anything like it. And fortunately, somebody had a cell phone, or i probably wouldnt be talking about it. It was all over the news and made a big impact. I was talking about it long before i went to indiana. The other guys talked about it when they arrived. That was going to be the firewall. The firewall. Trump is going to win new york, but trump is going to win also pennsylvania and connecticut. Were doing great in connecticut, by the way. When we get to indiana, thats the firewall. Trumps not going to win the firewall. And we won the firewall in a landslide. That was a big win. And then everybody just said, you know what they said . We just cant take it anymore. Were leaving. That was the end of that, right . But we have had an amazing period of time. But what i would have told carrier air conditioning, and i would if i could get their time, i would have said enjoy your plant. Hot weather. Pretty hot up here right now, by the way, too. Hot weather. I said, enjoy your plant. Make lots of air conditioners. But when you start selling your air conditioners to our very strong border, because were going to have a strong border, and we want people to come in. Theyre going to come in by the thousands, but theyre going to come into the country legally, right . Legally. So im going to say meeting, myself, my rep, i kid and i say to my wife, but i want to call carrier. And shell say, youre the president of the united states. Youre not supposed to be calling an air conditioning company, but i say its so much fun and im so good at this stuff. So ill get somebody. Ill get carl icahn to call. I have so many people endorsing us. But we call up carrier. We say enjoy your new plant. I hope you have great success. But every single time you make a beautiful air conditioner and you want to sell it to the united states, theres going to be a 35 tax on that air conditioner coming into it. Okay . Now, a lot of conservatives, you know, these characters that have been fighting me, never trump. Never trump. Oh, never trump. These are people, heres a guy, you talk about a great conservative, but he gets it. Some of these people dont get it. Never trump. By the way, never trump is disappearing rapidly. You heard about the 51 million . Anybody . 51 . Raised 51 million. Right . 51 million. Even newt couldnt believe that. Donald trump feeling pretty good tonight in cincinnati, ohio. Talking about his campaign about the 51 million they raised between their own events and rnc events in the month of june. Tak explaining himself on Saddam Hussein and various other pr topics. Hes been going on for over an hour. Were going to jump away as we get to other programming. Im in for Greta Van Susteren tonight. Breaking news on another front. Off the hook, as expected. No criminal charges against secretary Hillary Clinton. Just a few moments ago, attorney general Loretta Lynch announced the clinton email investigation is now officially closed. As far as the department of justice is concerned as well. And now, House Republicans are irate that clinton will not face any criminal charges over the server. The House Oversight committee is demanding answers from fbi director james comey. He said he will appear tomorrow at 10 00 a. M. On america tfs newsroom where hell be asked many questions about the process of that investigation. Member of the house committee kansas congressman mike pompeo has been hanging in with us. Thank you. Great to be with you. Lets jump in on this comey testimony tomorrow. What do you expect he will be asked . What does everyone want to know . Well, the list of questions is long. What he said yesterday is completely unexplainable. How is the case that you can lay out a perfect case for a classified information mishandling and turn around and say no criminal charges are going to be filed is mindboggling. So they will, im certain, ask questions about the process, how it was the case he came to development the information, what is he still missing . They may ask him, as speaker ryan said, what he thinks about whether she should ever be able to handle classified information at any time again in her life. Theres a long list of questions for tomorrow, and i expect it to be, i hope, a robust conversation about how such a thing could happen. How equal justice couldnt be delivered in this case. Fascinating because director comey did suggest that it wouldnt be in his purview, but that taking away someones security clearance when they had allowed all this classified information to be exposed on an open server outside of a secured environment would in many cases lead someone to lose their security clearance. Thats an awkward situation for a wouldbe candidate for the white house. I dont know how you could not have a security clearance in that job, but there is an effort under way to prevent her from getting the kind of briefings, classified briefings, that candidates at this stage of the game start receiving . Martha, speaker ryan talked about that. I think hes dead right. I was a soldier, not too terribly long ago. I remember what the penalty was for innocent mishandling of classified information. You were certainly going to lose your access to classified information, if not your job. And the Senior State Department officials who were also on the classified emails, who have had zero penalty imposed upon them for a very dangerous release of classified information to an unsecure setting. Can this Committee Really get anywhere with this effort, do you think . Im sorry, could you ask that again . Could this committee get anywhere with that effort . Is it realistic at all . I dont know. I dont know what director comey will be prepared to testify about, but he owes the American People answers about how it can be carelessness but not negligence. I have read those 22 topsecret emails on her home server, and i can assure the viewers tonight they have put american lives at risk. He ought to answer for how its the case he can see those same emails, that same information, and decline to prosecute criminally. One of the big questions, i think, is the fbi testimony that she gave. And whether or not that will be made public, because if she made the same contention to the fbi that she made to the public, that she never sent or received any classified information, that would be lying to the fbi, would it not . It would, martha. And lets not forget, also served on the Benghazi Committee where she testified under oath before the Benghazi Committee that she did not send or receive information that was marked classified. There are many questions that remain about secretary clintons statements, and we all know now, even director comey said she told untruths. She lied. She told us she only had a single server. She told us she had one email device. She told us she didnt send or receive classified information. The list of lies is long, even by the admission of director comey. Theres also destruction of evidence, because he claimed in his statement that they found many emails that were never handed over, and that the attempts to uncover some of the emails meant that the server had been wiped clean. We heard that expression so much in the early stages of all this. What about that . Doesnt that show some sort of intent . I certainly think that it does. But remember, he also said he did not get them all. They were unable to recover all of those emails. That means there are still hundreds and hundreds of emails, perhaps thousands of emails that no one has ever seen. Many of which director comey said are likely to have proven to be government records, that is taxpayer records, records that belong to the American People, and they were deleted, and we may never get a chance to see the contents of those emails. We may never. I think it says something about director comey that he jumped at the opportunity to answer those questions. He didnt drag his feet on it at all, and maybe he welcomes the opportunity to get deeper into the thinking of what happened at the fbi and, you know, i guess the big question is whether or not hell open any doors into any pressure or influence that he may have felt about the president ial election or about the administration and their take on all of this. Congressman pompeo, many thanks. Always good to see you, sir. Thank you, martha. Thank you for sticking around. And one senator demanding transparency from the fbi wants all the details from the clinton investigation. Senator ron johnson standing by to talk about that and go on the record, moments away. Now announced as attorney general, the department of justice, that she also considers it a closed book in terms of charges against secretary Hillary Clinton. Thats the new information this evening. Now one republican senator is demanding answers from the fbi. Wisconsin senator ron johnson writes a letter to james comey insisting the bureau release the details of their investigation into secretary clintons emails. Senator johnson is on the record tonight from washington, d. C. Good evening, sir. Good to have you with us. How are you doing . Im doing well. Your committee, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs considers this to not be a closed case. Why . The lettier wrote to director comey asked three basic questions. Very legitimate question to ask, how much did secretary clintons extremely careless behavior cost the american public. Its not just the fbi. There are other agencies, the state department, probably intel, of this country, spent an awful lot of money investigating her careless her extremely careless behavior. Otherwise, what is the difference between extremely careless behavior and gross negligence. Im not an attorney, not a prosecutor myself, but i have talked to attorneys and prosecutors watching his press conference. And as he was building the case, they start going, man, hes going to recommend indictment. Hes going to recommend indictment. Then all of a sudden came the conclusion. He didnt recommend indictment. Is there really a double standard in terms of prosecution for those people that are connected, the elite, versus the rest of us . Its a very legitimate question to answer, or ask. Very legitimate question to ask. It did feel as he went through his statement that he was laying out a case to bring charges against Hillary Clinton. The leap from that moment to the moment where he said the word although, which sort of signals that a corner was being turned and actually he was not going to bring any charges, i think the bridge between those two things is the missing piece everybody is going to be looking for tomorrow morning at 10 00. In other words, how did you make all these findings and lay out all these facts of extreme carelessness, as you point out, and then come to the conclusion that there wasnt enough to support it. One of the things he said is there wasnt enough volume, basically. Not enough in terms of the egregious behavior on her part. Does that hold water with you . I dont think so. What did general petraeus get convicted of . It was one document, correct . There were 110 you know, emails. I think he argued in that case there was intent to transfer that information intentionally to someone who should not have it. In this case, hes saying he looked at it all and believes there wasnt intent, which is interesting because those were president obamas words as well. He told the press in april that he didnt see she had intent to undermine national security. It feels like that statement stuck with the fbi director as well. Your thoughts . The statute does not require intent. Doesnt require it. Thats not necessary. The other thing im really interested in is what other state Department Officials were on those emails . Its obvious those emails were outside the classified system. They are also, i think, are culpable, and lets face it, at some point in time, they may come before the senate for confirmation. We need to know exactly what they knew and when they knew it as well. Senator ron johnson, thank you, sir. Well look for more tomorrow morning when inspector comey faces more questions. More straight ahead. Stay with us. Shmorange and it rhymes with the color of our bottle. Hey, baby, make it your first word baby babble not even close. To serve you, for all youve done to serve us. Back tonight with the panel here. John busey and steven. Donald trump trying to use this, john, to the best political advantage that he can. Lynch says now no charges and hes saying crooked hillary, is accusing her of prescribing Loretta Lynch. Look, Hillary Clinton dodged an indictment thats the good news for the clinton campaign. The fact that there was almost an indictment is a really bad thing and the fact that comey said she was essentially reckless with the emails is going to hound her for the rest of the campaign. You had two partisans on earlier from congress, who were pounding the table already about how theyre going to keep it in the news and keep it in hearings. The question of judgment is going to be center stage. She accuses trump of not having the judgment necessary for the job. Hes going to be able to turn that back on her. Steven, talked about hillary, crooked, is really going to be something he is going to continue to talk him. Is this going to change voters minds . This is huge. This turns the whole email server as a wonky i. T. Ish s iss that most voters ignore, but now its an attack on her leadership, dependability, the stuff she attacks trump for shows shes vulnerable for the same accusations. Hes looking at different Vice President ial candidates. Newt gingrich was up there tonight. He said hes going to find a place for him in the administration. What do you think about the Vice President ial process . Its going to be critical for him and her. Hes going to dangle this right up to the convention, because he will achieve what happened tonight, the networks were once again following trump, just like they were last night. Its free advertising, a huge opportunity for him to get to be with trump on air. Hes not doing the teleprompter thing. Its a great way of keeping the suspension high. Bob corker and joni ernst said theyre not interested. Marco rubio announced he will not go to the convention. Every time hes on tv and he parades a candidate in front, he puts someone in front and theres a huge spike in the ratings, he can put that person in. If he gets killed with that choice, he can sweep that person out. John, thank you. Steven, good to see you. On the record continues. Well be right back.
