Bring education locally. We are going to do that we are going to protect our Second Amendment so important. So, so important. The Second Amendment is being chipped away at. As far as hillary is concerned, she wants to abolish the Second Amendment. I really believe she wants to abolish the Second Amendment. The whole view on guns, she is a disaster in so many different ways. We are going to i think we really had a great meeting today and i think we agree on a lot of things. It will be a little process but it will come along. Just after the meeting, Speaker Paul Ryan had this to say. I was very encouraged with what i heard from donald trump today. I do believe that we are now planting the seeds to get ourselves unified to bridge the gaps in differences son and from here, were going to go deeper into the policy areas to see where that Common Ground is and how we can make sure that were operating off the same Core Principles and so, yes. This is our first meeting. I was very encouraged with this meeting. But this is a process it take as little time. You dont put it together in 45 minutes. Its very important that he that we dont fakeng, we dont pretend unification that we truly and actually unify so that we are full strength in the fall. I dont want us to have a fake unification process here. I want to make sure that we truly understand each other and conservative Party Principles that built this country. Again, im very encouraged. Rnc chairman Reince Priebus was had inside that meeting with trump and speaker ryan and he went on the record. Mr. Chairman, nice to see you, sir. Hi, greta, thanks for having me. All right. I read the joint statement between the rnc and donald trump that said had you a great conversation. What does that mean . Here is what it means just generally. Number one, great party for unity. Also good day for paul ryan and donald trump. I mean, i was there and i can tell you that it was genuine. The spirit was good. Cooperative. It was an exchange of ideas. I will just tell you both of these ideas left the room feeling pretty good about each other. And, for that, i think it was a great day. I think they are going to follow up very quickly to keep the rapport and conversation going. Now, you also had a statement that there was honest differences and donald trump told me expect people to agree only about 70 . Thats a good number. Where are the honest differences between speaker ryan and donald trump . Well, look, i mean, i think donald trump and the speaker can talk to that. I mean, i dont want to get into the specifics of the actual meeting because that wouldnt make me a very good honest broker if i had a private meeting and then came on tv and spilled the beans. But i would tell you some of it is well documented stuff. But i think the point is though in the meeting they agreed with 80 90 . They agreed more than they disagreed. Really wasnt a lot of disagreement but there were some areas that they discussed that i cant get, into but i will tell you it was a good, honest conversation and a commitment on both parties to continue working together to get to a good place. I think paul ryan wants to get to that good place soon. He didnt endorse today. And he has said in the past that he wasnt ready to endorse. Can you give me some sort of prediction . I mean, what is it going to take for donald trump to get the speakers endorsement . How long that will be or what hurdles that trump has . And whether or not even needs endorsement . Well, first, i dont know about the last one. I mean, lock, donald trump has broken the playbook and has done very well, better than any nominee in the history of our party. I mean, as soon as you try to Start Playing by conventional rules, i learn half a year ago that it just isnt the case. So i dont try to apply those rules. But i would just say that i think both parties got out of today what they wanted and what they expected, i think. And they both left happy with the result. I dont think either donald trump or paul ryan came into this mornings meeting and were prepared to, you know, just have a big endorsement party in 45 minutes. I think they both left much more positive and more happy than when they came in. So i think for that it was good. All right. What do you make of the truce, thats the word i use between senator Lindsey Graham and donald trump . I think we probably expected that speaker ryan and donald trump would have a different would have a discussion today that might lead to the point they are. But senator graham and donald trump now have a truce . I dont know much about the truce but i know the character of senator graham and is he a kind, warm, funny person that loves our country and so im not surprised that he if thats true, im not surprised by it i think everyone understands, look, we have got two big parties in this country. And were not like italy we dont have 12 parties that fit into a nice neat box. We dont agree with each other on everything. We agree we are the party of freedom, quality and opportunity and party of the open door. If you are the party of the open door, that means there is going to be a lot of the people in the room that might not agree with each other on everything but agree for a Better Future for our country and Hillary Clinton doesnt fit that description. I think thats what you are going to be seeing over the next several weeks. Who would have guessed that the republicans would be where they are today and the democrats are heading into this convention with who knows. What anyway. Mr. Chairman, nice to see you, sir. Thank you for joining us. Thank you, greta. Well, donald trump certainly had a busy day here in washington. The presumptive g. O. P. Nominee cozying up with speaker ryan and house in the senate. Senator John Barrasso was in that Senate Meeting with trump. Here to go on the record. Good to see. You were you a trump supporter before the meeting and, if so, or if not, are you now . Well, i said for a year im going to support the nominee of the party. Donald trump won this the Old Fashioned way. He got the most votes. The turnout has been remarkable. I was very impressed with the meeting today. It was a positive, productive meeting. He met with 11 senators. We talked for over an hour and 15 minutes. Lots of issues. Lots of topics. Asked questions. Went back and forth. The one thing that might surprise a lot of your viewers is he listened. He listen to do what we had to say and reacted very appropriately. Its so funny, he had a tryout it seems like tonight but he already has it wrapped up. Its sort of odd. What i hear is that there are a lot of republicans that dont like his tone or rhetoric. I dont like the insults. The fact is if he acts sort of like the other ones without that tone and rhetoric, they lost. His tone and rhetoric has drawn people to the party and he won. So, does that mean the strategy is to keep going with that tone and rhetoric . Well, what we know is two thirds of americans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. I think people all around the country know that we cannot afford for america to have another four years like the last eight years. Thats what you get with Hillary Clinton. You get a third obama term. Should you let donald be donald or are you going to try to make him in to some sort of Something Else . Well, you know, there is a lot that we still dont know about donald trump in terms of really flushed out positions but there is a lot more we do know about Hillary Clinton. So, we were asking the questions about different issues. Talked a lot about what unites us as a party in terms of specific positions on healthcare, for one, which you know i have been so actively involved in because it is so unpopular with the american people. So i pushed him to talk more about that topic. I think we audited to be talking a lot more about it. What about thep the ban on the muslims. Last night he told me said that it was not it was a temporary ban. Not a permanent ban. And that there would be some exceptions. Because obviously we have muslims in our military serving overseas and need to come home. Was that discussion today the muslim ban. We talked about the issue of tone matters. As our mothers told all of us, its not what you say but how you say it. Its worked for him. Thats the irony of it. His tone has drawn people to the Republican Party and he is walking away with the nomination and he has crushed everybody else who had, quote, good tone. Thats what this election is going to be oneonone donald trump against Hillary Clinton and the future direction of the country he is going to make his points. All 11 senators left with a positive impression of directions of the Republican Party. Donald trump is a Master Builder and now rebuilding bridges that he previously burned or that his rivals burned depending on your viewpoint. Trump and former rival senator Lindsey Graham making peace after bitter fighting and sizzling insults. I wont talk about Lindsey Graham who had like 1 point. Mr. Trumps view of the world is really pretty delusional. He talks about i know more about the military than trump. Ive been dealing with it for years. Yeah, for years. Thats why we cant beat isis. Wheres trump . And light weight Lindsey Graham a total light weight. If all else fails, you can always give your number to the donald. I wrote the number down. I dont know if its the right number. Lets try it your local politician. Trump on the record Political Panel is here. Abc political director rick cline. Trump had a conversation Lindsey Graham, and they now seem to be i mean, certain solid a different relationship than it was 24 hours ago. Thanks to Lindsey Graham, thanks to donald trump Lindsey Graham had a new phone to take that call on evidently. I think whats happening with Lindsey Graham, paul ryan, i think, is another example. There is a growing sense because of the reality, this is a choice. The republicans will have a choice. It is donald trump. It is Hillary Clinton. The idea of a third party person, there is still buzz out there. Its really not going to happen. Binary choice. Donald trump. Even though a lot of nasty things. He has made fun of me. Destroyed my cell phone. You name it. Whether you agree with donald trump or not, and im not telling people to agree with him or not, when you sit down with him oneonone, is he a very sort of different person than when is he at these rallies and someone flings something at him and someone in the media says you are a jerk, what are you and then he responds with a nuclear weapon. There is clearly a lot of theater going on here. The point about the cell phone, tell a truth about Lindsey Graham which is he didnt really destroy that cell phone. Lindsey graham still has his flip phone to this day. He may be the only one in the nation. He may be. And even after that kind of dramatic destruction of it, he still has it there is this is such an example of the overwhelming amount of theater. Also, to your point, it donald trump can repair this relationship maybe he has some diplomatic skills that we havent seen from the podiums and rallies that he has been holding. Democratic side, pretty crazy over there who would have guessed . Thats turned out while they are having a love fest on the Republican Party what about the democrats . Picking out real estate on Mount Rushmore today. Good visual. Winding down. Clearly Hillary Clinton has the delegates. She is going to be the nominee. Not been a pretty process. The buzz about elizabeth warren. The best thing going is the republicans continue to be interesting and donald trump still having meetings. Its asounding. Rick and any, thank you both. Sorry its so short. Vote at home on twitter. Should donald trump do as republican critics say and tone it counsel . Tweet yes or no using greta. We will show you live twitter votes throughout the show. This is aer in the. Breaking news out of the pentagon tonight. Fox News National security correspondent Jennifer Griffin is at the pentagon. Jennifer . Greta, we have just learned from u. S. Sailors were taken hostage and then paraded by irans revolutionary guard before video cameras force to do apologize and cry on camera. Ash carter said the mistake was the result of navigational error. Fox news has since learned that the sailors were not given premission navigational brief. Shortcut highly unusual in the navy. The sailors ended up near farsi island a listening post for Iran Revolutionary guard when the patrol boat had engine difficulty. Thats when the iranians surprised them at gunpoint. The incident is still under investigation. We are told by Navy Officials that other administrative punishments have been leveled about now word yet as to the ultimate fate of the 10 u. S. Sailors. Greta . Jennifer, thank you. And a federal judge slapping down president obama and signature obamacare. Just a short time ago the federal judge ruling that president obama never got house approval to pay 175 billion to subsidize Insurance Companies. And thus has no business doing so. Well now a death blow to obamacare. Millions of americans may have to pay more for coverage. Georgetown law Professor Larry barnett one the lawyers who worked on the case in the United StatesSupreme Court unsuccessfully challenging obamacare on a different issue is here to go on the record. Good evening, sir. Good to see you, greta. First of all, how did congress get into court . Because we always hear that congress cant go into court. One of the things that makes it difference is house as a whole. Usually they turn away individual members. The house as a whole had an interest in this outcome. Basically its the protection of the power of the purse. So is it the situation that they hadnt authorized the money but president obama said i dont care anyway obviouslily im being crass about it i dont care im going to authorize the payments any way to Insurance Companies to subsidize is that what happened and the judge just said no, you cant do that . Its unconstitutional . Exactly. I mean, the statute covers two different things. One is payments to consumers in the form of credits and the other is payments to insurers. While the statute did include annual recurring payments for the credits, it did not include perpetual or ongoing payments to the insurance company. That was supposed to be done through an annual appropriation. And the Obama Administration, after first asking for appropriation. When they didnt get it started other sources to this even though that was not part of the statute. Is this a big deal or not . Its a big deal from constitutional standpoint because it has to do whether congress with exercise its power of the purse. If you listen to the administrations position, the only way that congress is k. Contest what the president did is by denying the president funding. That require a resolution of law in the house, a law in the senate and the president could still veto that the only way that congress could look after itself is by having a super majority of congress and so this means that the president cant spend money when the congress doesnt say something, the president cant make up something and spend the money anyway. Does this clip the president s wings so to speak . Are there other instances when the president is trying to do this in other cases spending money not allocated by congress . Not that i know of. The president has pushed the envelope even the individual insurance mandate is Something Congress has never tried to do before. That was something that congress did. This is not something that is widespread. But if it were allowed to be done and if the courts of appeals do allow it to be done, qui imagine that it is something that will become widespread in the future. All right. So the judge ruled against obamacare on this provision in the statute. But the judge has stayed the decision. Meaning that she didnt issue the injunction, giving the government president obama an option to go to the United States court of appeals, right . Thats where its going i would say the judge ruled in favor of obamacare. Affordable care act. Thats what the judge enforced. Congress shall appropriate that money every year. If congress doesnt, it doesnt get funded. Thats what the power of the purse is so now the president needs to get congress to pay for this. The judges decision is on hold, at least for the short time while giving Obama Administration time to appeal. Exactly. The judge issued an injunction but then stayed the injunction until pending appeal. So, at this point, nothing is going to change. Thank you very much for joining us. We will see what happens when w. This thank you, sir. My pleasure, greta. Heres a question for you. Should donald trump release his taxes . One of his 2016 rivals agrees with trump on this. Find out who it is next. We reported terrifying news carlie trent kidnapped by uncle after he made weird purchases. Tonight we have news. And it is com show me movies with romance. Show me more like this. Show me previously watched. Whats recommended for me. X1 makes it easy to find what you love. Call or go online and switch to x1. Only with xfinity. Spoke to me about this particular issue last night. People are suspicious that you are not releasing because in january of 2012 you said to me that mitt romney was making a big mistake because he did not release his. No because i was under audit. I agree im a lawyer. I wouldnt have someone. If you represented me and im under audit. I would tell you not to relets. You would tell me not to release. Hopefully theyre released. Hopefully before the election can i release and i would like to release. President ial candidate himself governor mike hub begoes on the record. Good evening, governor. Hi, greta. Great to be back. Okay, governor. There are two types of returns here. The returns he says under audit and then the returns not under audit which if is he under audit for five years, six, seven eight years back. Should he release his tax returns . Slult not. Biggest mistake i ever made. It was freshman candidate mistake was to release 20 years of tax returns. My first race. I thought gosh, everybody will really appreciate the transapparently, the honesty. I learned something important, greta. Never help load a gun thats pointed at your own head. And when you release your tax returns, which the law does not require you to do. You release very detailed Financial Information in the financial disclosure. Every candidate has to do that far more information than in a tax return. Lets face it, how many people do their own tax returns. Not many . Do you know why . Because they dont understand it guess who else doesnt understand them. The irs doesnt understand their own tax forms either. Dont get me started on congress. They write those laws and then not one of them can do his or her own tax return. Exactly. As a candidate he created this mystery because he went on the limb and went after romney for not releasing his. He has a problem he said romney should so why doesnt he . I get the audit stuff. If i were his lawyer dont release the audit. What could possibly be in those returns, source of income we pretty much know a source of income. His charitable deductions and so i dont know what they are. At all. He is very generous guy and i also by the way knows he gives to Many Organizations that arent 501 c 3. They wont appear there whats the big deal . End the mystery and end three years that are not under audit. He could get a cpa to do a summary of his taxes indicating those basic things, how much money he made. How much he gave to charity. His tax returns are going to be hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of pages. There is not very many people in the country dry and certainly not many reporters who are going to be able to understand. Pick something out and do it. I think that probably was a mistake. As big a mistake that mitt romney going after donald trump. Greta, let me ask you a question. Do you know of any person either elected or not elected president of the United States because of the release of their tax returns or failure to release tax returns . The answer is no. I dont think so either. But, governor, slightly different situation because he went after someone else for not doing it and created this little bit of a mystery that is dogging him. And if there is no big deal if he releases them thea then he gets rid of the mystery so the dogs stop nipping at his heels over it and thats the end of it. It wont be the end of it thats the problem. He releases those tax returns and then he will get off message and every day some reporter is going to be asking about something on page 474 on the tax return he needs to stick to his message. He is the nominee for the Republican Party because the general population of america dont have any money to report on their tax returns. He needs to keep fighting that battle and heck with these people demanding his tax returns. Did you release yours as a candidate for with the president . Not this time. You know, i probably would have had i been the nominee. I cant remember if i did. I released a summary statement. I did do that a summary statement that had all the pertinent information. But, quite frankly, my tax returns were also complicated and if i had released them nobody would have understood them. Heck, i dont understand them. Thats why we need to get rid of the irs and not have people release ridiculously complicated tax returns. All right. Just sort of for consistency i also think this is a slightly different issue that secretary clinton should release all the transcripts from her speeches because she likewise create that same sort of mystery dogs nipping at her heels. If she releases that maybe you are right these things dont go away when you give taxes to reporters and speeches. Nice to see you, sir. Thank you, greta. And a huge news tonight. A major update on the kidnapping of a 9yearold girl. The one whose uncle made some really weird purchases just hours befo this is a fox news alert. 9yearold carlie trent has been found. More than a week ago the tennessee girl was kidnapped by her uncle but tonight she is safe. And her uncle is behind bars. Reporter is live in rodgersville tennessee. Beth, how was she found . Well, good evening, greta. You can imagine this town is just elated tonight in rogersville and entire state for that matter. She was found around 4 30 this afternoon. All week Law Enforcement, agents have encouraged people, Property Owners to be vigilant about searching their property, their barnes, their land to see of any sign of carlie trent or her uncle gary simpson. 4 30 this afternoon Property Owners actually found her in a barn and their barn, and they held them until authorities could get there and safely take carlie trent and gary simpson is in custody. Is he being held at the Hawkins County jail here in rogersville. Meanwhile, carlie trent has been taken to a hospital in johnson city. Her mother and father are meeting her there, along with the wife of gary simpson who Authorities Say took carlie trent from her school about a week ago greta, this is a small tight knit community. They have dedicated themselves in the last week to finding carlie. This is the outcome they had hoped for, that they have prayed for. They have held vigils. They have held search parties. Hundreds of volunteers and Law Enforcement. This is certainly the outcome that they wanted tonight. Did i speak with the Hawkins County sheriff ronni lawson earlier just a few minutes ago. He told me that gary simpson has been charged with custodial interference as well as aggravated kidnapping. And more charges could possibly come. So this is scene behind me. Not as many people here now but the town is certainly overjoyed. Great news. Anyway, beth, thank you. And right now Public Information officer for the Tennessee Bureau of investigation josh divine goes on the record. Great news, sir. Congratulations to the Law Enforcement in tennessee. This is a big win not just for Law Enforcement but this community and this family. They wanted this to happen. I cannot tell you how overjoyed we are to be able to share this news tonight. Why did he do this . This is what i dont get. This uncle at one time had custody of this child while her father was in prison and the mother was i dont know where she was. And then when the father got out, the father regained custody of this child and then all of a sudden we have this situation where the uncle goes and gets her out of school and kidnaps her, right . That is themilliondollar question. Why . So our work is still ongoing because its not just bringing this girl home. We want to understand the complexities of what got us to this point. Our work in some regards is just beginning now that we are able to potentially talk to both carlie and gary as the days progress. As far as we know, carlie is fine . I mean besides the trauma of being kidnapped and taken off with an uncle away from her family. She appears, you know, doing well . Appears to be doing well. Im told she was taken to a local hospital as you heard from their, beth haines there on the scene in rogersville. As can you imagine she needs to be checked out. They didnt have much food over the past eight days. Its quite possible she has some immediate medical needs that need to be attend to do. Did the uncle say why . Like when he was arrested, did he put up any resistance and say did i this because i was helping the child or i wanted the child or anything at all . We dont know what he said. I think there is an important piece to the story. These two guys who happened to find them in the middle of this remote area, one of them is a baptist pastor. He actually held gary simpson at gunpoint while the other guy goes and calls 911 to alert authorities. We have been telling people be on the lookout, search your property and they did that and lo and behold we found th3m. And so this speaks to the impact that the community can have in these types of cases, greta. Were overjoyed. Well, josh, your team got the news out so everybody was looking. Everybody can take a bow. Thank you very much for joining us. Thanks for your continued interest. And the on the record legal panel is here former homicide detective ted williams and former prosecutor katie phang. Well, katie, this uncle is in quite a fix tonight, taking a kid. Kidnapping a kid. Yeah, he is being charged with as of right now you heard custodial interference especially aggravated kidnapping charge is the most serious. A class a flown in tennessee greta and ted. Punishable by 15 to 60 years in prison. I fear for the safety of this child though. The mother doesnt have custody for a couple years because of drug abuse problems. The dad does three years in prison for meth distribution. The uncle, according to local family members abused them. It was a dangerous pedophile. This poor girl has a long road ahead of her. If Something Else happened to this little girl, this guy is looking at more serious charges, maybe tragically aggravated sexual abuse. We dont even know. Ted, its just awful. This poor child. The problem is there are a lot of children out there who have their parents are both drug addicts and relatives are i mean, you know, thats whats so horrible is that carlie is just one of so many. But, you know, greta, let me just begin by saying the heroes in that community, you know, you and i, katie, we report so much doom and gloom. And here we got some good news. As katie said, youre right, greta. This child needs to be checked. We need to realize that this uncle had gone to a walmart and he had bought underwear, nail polish, and lipstick for a 9yearold girl there needs to be a complete investigation. All right. Well, im just going to tip my hand once again to Law Enforcement in tennessee, especially since tomorrow is a big day for Law Enforcement across our nation. We will tell you about that later. We have a special about Law Enforcement. Thats an aside. People in the community because everybody worked together on this. And everybody got the word out. So, at least thats the good news tonight for this child. Anyway, ted and katie, if you will stay with us. And a car chase suspect beaten by police on camera. Today big news on those Police Officers. The trial for the Second Baltimore Police officer charged in the death of freddie gray is underway. Officer edward neurogave up his right to a jury. He wants the case decided by a judge and only the judge. No jury. In april of 2015, officer neurowas one of three officers hot Prosecutor Says chased down and arrested freddie grey. Gray later died from injuries suffered in the back of a police van. The on the record legal panel is back. Former homicide detective and defense attorney ted williams and former prosecutor katie phang. You were in the courtroom today. What happened . Yeah, greta. I have got to tell threw was high drama in this courthouse today over my shoulder. Both sides came out blazing. The prosecution is trying to show that there was an illegal arrest of freddie gray, that the arrest should not have happened. The lawyer for eric neurocame out also blazing. Saying that her nero had nothing to do with the arrest whatsoever. The prosecutors are trying to show that he should have received an email telling him to safely buckle freddie gray into his vehicle. There was testimony today, greta, from the director andrewaftery of Information Services that said clearly that nero may have gotten that email, but he could not show, meaning jaffy opened that email. Katie, this is interesting because this Police Officer has decide to do have a judge try it. Thats one decider. And the defense, you know, needs to get like one vote. Whether you have a jury you have a better chance. You have one of 12 to hang the jury. Yet, i actually think this was a smart thing to go with a judge, a judge trial. What do you think . You know, its a calculated risk. There has been a lot of criticism on both sides as to whether or not this was a smart move. You are right. If this judge, judge williams who by all accounts is a smart judge, if he follows the law and he applies as the finder of fact his own estimation of the credibility of this witnesses, he may find absurd result to convict officer nero for any of the demeanor crimes that he has been charged by state prosecutor Marilyn Mosby. What is left to be seen whether nero plays his fiddle. Make a determination whether nero did the right thing by not touching freddie gray when he was taken into custody when he was arrested but participating in it. Katie, let me say this. There is Supreme Court precedence that says, first of all, Marilyn Mosby and her crew, the states attorney asked these officers to go into what they defined as a high crime area. The Supreme Court precedence that says under the circumstances, if a person runs from you as in this case, that you have reasonable justification and probable cause to go after them. If you find a knife on freddie gray, they had a right to make that arrest. Katie, do you want to respond to that . Listen, i dont disagree to the extent that if there was probable cause to take him into custody that knife thats kind of been at both sides. Everybody keeps on arguing whether or not that knife is illegal or not. State attorney Marilyn Mosby says it was a legal knife and of course the defense says illegal knife thereby justifying the arrest of freddie gray. What i want to bring to the attention of the viewers greta and ted, the judge agreed with the pretrial rulings that no audio on the video of fray being taken into custody and notified of freddie grays injuries. Could they find a donor who matched the infant. By a stroke of luck and genes, his mother, my colleague catherine, was a match. It was a risk for not only the child but the donor his mother. Catherine jumped at the chance to save her son. She gave him a portion of her liver. But the truth, if it would have been called for, she would have given her entire liver. Her life, just to save that baby. Surgeons at university of Pittsburgh Medical CenterPresbyterian Hospital took 20 of catherines liver and instantly handed it over to south carolinas at nearby childrens hospital, pittsburgh who then placed it in that tiny babys abdomen. Its 10 years later. You wonder, did that liver transplant work . You tell me. Yep. Thats peter now, 10 years later, rocking out on the drums. What do you think . Did it work . Great, huh .
