Donald a a lot going on in the world. I want to start first with Foreign Policy and north korea. They have recently done a test that has shaken everybody. And you suggested that china get more involved. No one has been able to solve this problem so far. So tell me what you would do. Well, they dont live and they dont breathe without china. China has a lot of power over north korea. I have been saying this for a long time. China is playing us like a fiddle. China is saying we dont have that much power and dont have that much control. They wouldnt get anything without china. China has the power and we have to tell china to straighten out the situation. You have got this mad man playing around with the the nukes. And it has to end. And china has to do it. Now, we have power over china because of trade. Because they suck us dry. They take our money. They take our jobs. They take everything. We get nothing. We lose hundreds of billions of dollars a year with china on trade. So, and frankly, if we have ever stopped it, believe me you would see a depression in china like you have never seen a depression before. We have power over china. We just dont know it our leaders just dont know it china has to solve the north korea problem. How serious a problem do you see this . I mean, look, they have got at least we know atomic bombs and seoul, south korea is a short distance away with probably 10 or 14 million people. Every once in a while they do a test. Four testsi in about eight years. How serious do you see this . Well, i think its a serious problem because he is probably on the wacky side. He could be a total nut job. Amazing a young guy would go and take over. You would have thought those tough generals would say no way this is going to happen when the father died. He has something going for him that he kept control which is amazing for a young person to do. We are protecting south korea. I have tremendous expense with south korea. I do a lot of business with south korea. I like them. They are great people. They are wonderful people, but they make a fortune as a country. Every time i order a television set, when i order thousands of sets, i order so Many Television sets every year for different properties, thousands, they all come from south korea. They have to make more of a conviction toward the protection because we have 28,000 soldiers on the line, very, very dangerous. And we get paid very little money, relatively speaking, by south korea. So they are going to have to step up to the plate and pay us more. You know, we are a debtor nation. We owe 19 trillion. We are going in the wrong direction. The budget that was made two weeks ago is ridiculous what they did, how that got approved. So we have to start thinking a little bit differently than we have in the past. Is the u. N. Absolutely hopeless on this . I mean, the u. N. Issued some condemnation, said that they are going to impose some sort of sanctions or consider it. Do you totally take the u. N. Out of the north korea problem and do you totally place it on china and the only way china will do this if we put economic pressure oni is that how you see it . No, i dont take the u. N. Out at all. I think the u. N. Can be very useful and can be helpful. The real power is china. China controls north korea. Now, they say they dont have that much power or that much control, i think they say that to taunt us because they like seeing whats china has great control over north korea. North korea wouldnt exist if it werent for china. Ave to use china and, you know, ideally they do it without any threat. They should do it for their own well being, if we have to use the threat we have as we have economic threat. All right. Well, you talk about economic threat, the news today out of china and, you know, with what their Economic Situation is practically, you know, caused upheaval in every world market. China is not doing particularly well today and unfortunately its effecting us. Well, you know how poorly they are doing . They are going to be up about 6. 5 this year. And thats more than we have gone up in decades. I mean, you look at 6. 5 . So if we go 2 were happy. Theyre going to be 6. 5 . So china has got difficulties and i agree with that because they are sitting on a little bit of a bubble. There could be a lot of bubble. But we are sitting on a bubble, also. China is going to go up 6. 5 and we are going up 2 . We are sort of satisfied at 2 . Im not satisfied but a lot of other people are satisfied. And we shouldnt be satisfied with that number. Weave should be doing much better than were doing. To what extent do you assign the responsibility of our of the situation with china and the united states, our economy to president obama and his policies . Well, the buck stops here with the president. He is in charge of things. And we have had had a very, very mild uptick. Its been, i guess, the slowest since the depression in terms of, you know, going up. And its now probably heading down. And based on whats happening in the stock market and you look at whats going on with companies,h7 he macys, i you se macys is doing very, veryhshp poorly. Their stock is down tremendously like 446 and so many other companies are doing poorly. So the stock market now is catching up with the real economy. You know, the stock market was the one thing people could point to and say oh, look what happened . But the stock market has been taking a big hit for quite some time now. So ideally, you know, i hope thats not happening. But its obviously we are not doing very well as a country in many respects. We are not doing well with isis and were not doing well with anything. I mean, where are we doing well, greta . Were not doing well with anything. All right. But secretary of state john kerry said earlier today that he thought that the deal with iran was going quiet well. Meanwhile, he has this situation going with saudi arabia and iran at each others throats. Why should the people of iowa, lets pick the people of iowa be concerned about whats going on all the way over there, which is thousands and thousands of miles away . You know, sell it to me why thats a big issue to them first of all secretary kerry think its a good deal. Im not talking about country. It might be the dumbest deal ever negotiated. On top they get 150 billion. We dont get our prisoners back. 24 day inspection periods. They will end up with nuclear weapons. Add to the fact that they are also taking over iraq as part of the deal because they are going to get iraq as sure as you are sitting there. They are going to take over the second Largest Oil Reserves in the world, which are held by iraq or just about second largest. And for him to say the deal is going well is incredible. Now the embassy gets burned down in iran. And i think iran is using that as an excuse. They are in yemen. You look at the border of yemen and that border is very long, beautiful border along saudi arabia and they are taking over yemen because they want top go into saudi arabia and they want to get the oil. All right. With all thats going on in the world and all these important issues. Why are you putting out an Instagram Video against secretary clinton who is not even your direct opponent at this point . I assume if you get the nomination will deal with it later, but you have a nomination that punches right at her, the womens issues. You have got making allegations about Anthony Weiner calling president clinton a liar. You even bring bill cosby into this because in 2000 he gave a stump speech for her. Why . Why now . Its something we do. We have very talented people in the Trump Organization they came out. I thought it was good in light of what they said. They called me sexist. I said you have got to kidding calling me sexist. I have more respect for women than anybody and i certainly have more respect for women than hillary does. I will do much more for women than hillary would. Why do you think she doesnt have respect for women . I think with hillary, i think with hillary its all an act. Its although at trick call its her whole demeanor. I think its all an act. I think she has gotten us into tremendous problems with her you look at her things you go anywhere you look, take a look whats happened with libya and is syria and all of the problems, the migration, everything, the middle east blew up around her, between her and president obama it blew up. And our country is a far less safe place right now than it was and certainly it can be very much better. I will say this if i win, our country will be a safe place again. All right. But thats a different issue. Libya, saudi arabia, the middle east and secretary clinton for the four years that she was secretary of state senator. The hit you are doing hl on her now has to do with her personal story. No, its just a response to what they said about me. Its nothing more than a response. I think its very accurate and i think its a very good response. And its one of those things. I mean, when they hit they get hit back. Its one of those things. Have to do it. Indeed you do hit back. All right, senator ted cruz, you have now raised the issue of his birth. He was born in alberto alberta canada. Why do you raise that now. I didnt raise it. The the Washington Post want to do ask me certain questions and this was one of the questions they asked. I gave a very simple answer. But, basically, the answer is up to ted. I hope its not going to be a problem. But the democrats are going to sue. I think they have already said they are going to sue. A couple of them said they are bringing suited. That was a while ago. And, you know, its something รท that ideally he can solve and set up because its awfully hard to run when you have that hanging over your head. He was born in canada. He was a, you know i think partially canadian citizen. I guess he was a joint. And frankly i think it is something he has to get solved. He hope he solves it this is not something i brought up. The the Washington Post brought it up. They asked me a question and i gave them a very mundane answer to be honest with you. Im not involved. Its not my issue. Its really teds issue. Sort of interesting or ironic, i dont know what it is, but senator john mccain has apparently come out on your side and said its a legitimate issue. He, of course, was born in a territory in panama. And but he said its a legitimate issue and this after you socked him for not being a hero. So thats sort of an interesting twist to this. I saw that he calm out pretty strongly. Again you say its my issue. Its a the Washington Post issue. Its not my issue. He asked me a question. What do i know about it . Im not involved in it. Somebody like ted because the worst thing that can happen is he gets sued by the democrats and then he is not allow to do run. I would say he should go to court and get what they call a declaratory judgment where you ask the judge to a make a ruling fact and i think Something Like that would be very effective. I you do think its probably something that he should get off his shoulders because its a tough issue. I mean, he was born in canada and a lot of people see that he was a canadian citizen, i guess, for a long period of time. He gave it up, what, 14 or 18 months ago. And, you know, its not an easy issue. Its a very complex issue. Hasnt been adjudicated yet fully and it hasnt gone to the supreme court. But i think if got a declaratory judgment, that would solve the i think thats what he should do, frankly. But, again,ji not my issue. This was just a question that was asked of me. And, you know, i dont care about this issue. I want to win on the merits on my own merits. I dont want to win because of Something Like this. All right. With time being so valuable between now and iowa and we all know how vermont is going to go come 2016, why are you going to Bernie Sanders backyard . Actually his hometown . I have a lot of fans up there. It may be a Bernie Sanders socialism guy, a communism guy. I dont know what the hell he is. Taxes are going to go up to 90 with this guy. They asked me to go and i hear they have 25,000 people showing up. 9hey have lines g two miles long. People said they have never seen lines like that in vermont. Friends of mine up there that actually are conservative republicans, they said would you come up . We went up and, you see whats happening on the news. I guess its all over the place. They have lines that could be 20 or 25,000 people. Thats the good news. The bad news space only holds 1400 people. Who knows what they are going to do. There is a great outpouring of support. All over the country we have the outpouring. Greta, we had 35,000 people in mobile, alabama. We have 120,000 in dallas. I mean, we have tremendous support. And we have unbelievable support in iowa, New Hampshire, and south carolina. Unbelievable. Thank you, donald for joining us. Thank you very much, greta. And tonight a knife wielding man shouting allah akbar shot dead trying to attack a paris Police Station. This coming on the anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo massacre can. Grn reporter Catherine Field is live in paris. What happened at that Police Station today . Greta, it was exactly almost to the minute one year on from the Charlie Hebdo attacks that a man said to have been in his early 20s approached the Police Station and started wielding a butchers knife at them. They told him to pull back, to get away. They then to put his hands in the air. They then thought they saw wires hanging down. They were worried that he had a suicide vest. So they shot him they shot him dead. It then transpired that the man was actually a fake suicide vest. But he had on his person, greta, a socalled Islamic State flag that he had printed off, plus he had a letter written in arabic explaining that he had wanted to attack the Police Station to avenge for what he called the sins that the french committing in syria. Now, that refers, of course, to the french aerial attacks on socalled Islamic State targets in syria. Greta . Catherine, this happened on the 18 does that have any significance at all just random . A lot of people are are saying this could have been because this is an area where the area where people who claim responsibility for the november 13th attacks had said they were going to carry out an attack there it could have been just random. No one is really sure what they are just pointing to is the fact that, yet, again, the start of the new year, greta, more security alerts here in paris. It actually turned into a day where we are seeing the whole machine move areas being in lockdown. Kids being kept in schools. People told to stay in their homes, keep away from their balconies and for shops to close up and a lot more security on the street. And soldiers coming in trucks to the center of paris. Such a beautiful city of paris. Its so terrible to whats been happening there. Catherine, thank you. Thank you, greta. This is terrifying, isis university. Sky news uncovering video footage showing a very sophisticated Training Academy in syria where terrorists are learning how to make bombs and complex weapons. And for one purpose. To wage war on the west to kill. Former British Army Intelligence officer and bomb disposal specialist major chris hunter goes on the record from london. Good evening, sir. And what are your thoughts about this . What did you learn . I think the first thing, greta, was that the level of ingenuity and level of sophistication that we have seen in these training videos is absolutely unsurpassed. The ira, for example, with the leaders in bombmaking atlantic nothing for 30 years, when i was a young bomb technician, when i went to iraq in 2004 with a u. S. Led coalition. The iraqi insurgents had superseded that level of technical so sophistication in one year. These guys isis are leagues ahead. This is absolutely Ground Breaking stuff. Are these weapons mobile . Are these the kind of weapons that can be smuggled across borders and into other nations and god forbid show up where you are or where i am . Some of the weapons are improvised weapons. Improvised explosive devices. Improvised car bombs. One of them was improvised Remote Control car bomb and even had a mannequin to heat signature you would get from a normal human being so it could i would assume, overmatch the intelligence censors that you getl at high value targets and government target facilities. It was very, very clever the way they did that also there were the conventional weapons much the surfacetoair missiles for example, until now we have seen them all over the world. Terrorists have had them but there have been certain components that wont work because basically they are not stored in the right conditions. These guys for the first time in 20 years seem to be the only group that could actually manage to get those components to work. So there is lots and lots of ingenuity there and thats whats worrying, certainly. Is there any i understand indication where these components are from or whether they had any had help from anybody else. Is r. These dual purpose components and they can manage to make them into weapons . Basically what we have seen, you know, things like the car bomb that we saw in the video footage and i dont know if you have been able to show that footage on your show, the car bomb is a normal car. They have modified it they have turned it into a Remote Control car. They have put an explosive in it. And in these war zones in syria, in libya, in iraq, afghanistan, there are literally stockpiles all over the place. There are legacy mine fields and things. There are discarded supplies of ammunition. All you need to do is get ahold ever that and basically empty out the explosives and you have your huge explosive charge. Any idea how the video came about . Who got the video . Was it smuggled out of syria or any idea . Yeah. I mean, i do know actually it was a defector from isis and sky news had a source. He was a trusted source. They managed to get ahold of the laptop. There was eight hours of footage on it we went through it all. Poured through all the footage. I was a intelligence officer, bomb technician, a special forces bomb tech. I spent 18 years from 16yearold boy to becoming a major doing this stuff for my daytoday living and i have never seen anything like it the level of technical know how was aton issue inning. Thank you very much. Sir. Thank you, greta. On the record takes you inside next. And also the mother of the affluenza tonight. Sanders to keep from getting inside and heckling trump on stage. Betsy woodruff and abc political director rick klein. Rig, donald trump has been hammering bill clinton and Hillary Clinton for the last couple days, weeks. Now he seems to be doing this to Bernie Sanders. In his why would he go to vermont . There has been so many erroneous assumptions and b. This campaign and strategy and something works. Apparently it all works he is number one. This is calculate to do tweak the democrats and establishment and garner headlines. Every now between now and iowa if he becomes the story he wynns because is he winning right now. Going to bernies backyard and making a big deal overbooking this arena, protesters, the whole scene, spectacle of it he is using it and milking it in every way as much as possible and its working for him. Betsy, he has got to hope things have changed in iowa. I have been to iowa over the years covering campaigns. And i have marched around following candidates and peoples living room. This is really a hands on campaign thing. This is not being 2,000 miles away in vermont. He has really got to hope that sort of the Campaign Model has changed. I think thats what he is banking on. It looks like actually that could be the case. Not necessarily in iowa. If you look at New Hampshire, his numbers, of course, are extraordinary. And he has only been there, you know, half a dozen, two dozen times. Which is very different from traditional way that candidates do well in New Hampshire. Traditionally they shake hands with every Single Person five times. Is he banking on the fact that the way these campaigns work is changing. Looking at these events tonight. Look, its crowded. We politics is about contrast. There is no candidate making a bigger contrast with Hillary Clinton than trump is right now going to Bernie Sanders backyard. What strange bed fellows. He is making hints about cruz. He says he is just responding to questions. Is he jabbing cruz about his birth in canada to an American Mother. Who comes to his rallying on his side and saying this is legitimate issue senator john mccain who trump said wasnt a hero because he got shot down. Mccain seems to relish this moment because cruz doesnt have a lot of friends in the senate. Lets be be clear on that. He likes trump better than cruz. Or maybe someone else in the race against him. But, you know, there are so many complicated crosshairs. If politics is changing, trump is the one changing it. He is making this happen affirmatively. If he is able to get this done, it will be by breaking andnj rewriting every rule we know in politics. Next door in New Hampshire jeb bush and carlie fiorina. We have live pictures of them, too. Their crowds. Not right up there. But betsy, there is jeb bush. They have rallies next door. Not exactly the same magnitude, i would guess. But, yeah, whats interesting is how sort of late in the game jeb is getting a little bit of extra traction in New Hampshire, which is a good reminder that none of us have any idea whats going on. Its election season. Its so weird. He has been sort of making inroads. That said he drew a lot of mockery today when his super pac put up a billboard. Is that really all you got . You know, these big billboards. That said, i mean, you know, its possible that jeb could do well. He seems more comfortable there than leaving. My favorite headline never dull and indeed it isnt. Thanks. Thanks, greta. Donald trump is not the only one on the campaign trail tonight. Up next, Carly Fiorina goes on the lots of excitement on the trail. Donald trump taking stage in front of a packed house in burlington, vermont. We are monitoring itst for news. Right next door in meredith, New Hampshire, home of the first primary less than one month away g. O. P. President ial candidate Carly Fiorina just wrapping up a town hall and now greeting voters. We will bring you there live as it happens. Right now, one day after north korea and as womens call and brutal winner kim jong un bragged he successfully tested a Hydrogen Bomb Carly Fiorina is blaming former secretary Hillary Clinton. Carlie went on the record. Carlie, thank you for joining us. Its great to be with you, greta. Carlie. Happy new year. Happy new year to you as well. Big news about whats going on in north korea and with the test of something. Most people conclude its not a Hydrogen Bomb but none the less atomic bomb is very dangerous. We have not been able to e clintoniwer presidency, george w. Bush presidency, president obama. You blame Hillary Clintons failed policies. Why do you blame her and what about the others . I think you are right. We have been trying to deal with north korea for a long time. George and Barack Obamas laid as well. What i lay at the feet of barack obama and Hillary Clinton fail over and over again. When north korea attacked sony pictures, there was no response. In fact, the administration wouldnt even take the basic step of putting them back on the list of nations that sponsor terrorism. And when you refuse to respond over and over and over again, to the provocation of china, when they hacked into opm or the provocation of iran launching two Ballistic Missile tests in direct violation of an agreement they just signed, or you refuse to respond to a terrorist attack in benghazi or the invasion of ukraine or the crossing of the red line by bashar al assad, when you refuse to respond over and over and over again, then of course north koreas leader kim john u. N. Can say i will kim jong un can say i can do whatever i want because there will be no consequence. All those other incidents i think you laid out if my memory is correct are after secretary clinton was no longer secretary of state. I dont know if can you lay those at her feet or not. Well, i dont think thats true of ukraine. I dont think thats true of the chinese opm attack. I dont think its true of iran, for example hacking into our dam infrastructure. And, when you lie about a purposeful terrorist attack on benghazi instead of responding and retaliating honestly you send a signal. The problem is we have encouraged more bad behavior when we dont respond. All right. I will give you one that i think we missed the reset button. That was clearly during the time that she was secretary of state. Yes. And it clearly failed. And i can see it. I am trying to sort out whats on her watch and whats not. Collapse a lot of time as this race sort of goes on. I dont know if you saw the dispute today but donald trump with the support apparently, i mean at leasti shouldnt say support but senator john mccain has also said that there is some legitimate issue about whether senator ted cruz is eligible to are president because he was born in alberta, canada to an American Mother and cuban father. Where do you fall on this discussion . Well, i dont know all the particulars, but i would say this i find it odd that senator ted cruz did not renounce his dual Canadian Citizenship until 2014 when it became clear he was running for president. Meaning what . That he wanted to be a canadian until 2014. I dont know. I think you ought to ask him. Clearly there are both legal scholars and others who think this is, perhaps, a legitimate issue. My issue is that i think both donald trump and ted cruzhg are far too divisive as candidates to ever beat Hillary Clinton. Im a conservative who can beat Hillary Clinton who wont sacrifice our principles but who will explain our principles to the american people. I dont think you can have someone win who insults everyone routinely and i also dont think you can win when you have someone like senator cruz who says one thing in the drawing rooms thing in the living rooms of iowa. Th jiikind of what politicians do. They say what they need to say to get elected and then they do whatever they please. Carlie, thank you for joining us. I should add that you are in the state of New Hampshire tonight and you have a big night in New Hampshire with a lot of work to do. A lot of work for all you guys. Thank you very much for joining us. Yeah, but we have big crowds all week here in New Hampshire as well. And its cold. All right, thank you, 3uvae. And affluenza mom tonya couch getting a new hi. And just about everyone has anmc opinion about Stephen Avery. He spent 18 years in the slammer and then released because he never committed the crime he was in prison for, rape. Now he is convicted of murder. Some say police framed him in the murder. Was he wrongly convicted again in the prosecutor in that case is next. And dont forget to the watch hannity tonight at 10 00 p. M. Eastern. Rnc a wildly popular Netflix Documentary generating millions of views and lots of buzz. Making a murderer tells a story of a wisconsin man steven avery after being freed from prison 18 years for crime he did not commit was arrested and convicted of murder. The question everyone is arguing about did do the murder or was avery set up . This is the moment Steven Averys 18 years of hell behind bars finally came to an end. [sobbing] the story begins in 1985, avery found its of beating and sexually assaulting penny ann bernstein. His sentence, 32 years behind bars for a crime he never committed. It would take nearly two decades and d. N. A. Testing to finally prove that his conviction was totally wrong. I am so sorry for what happened. You were not a rapist. We are about to file a lawsuit against mantewa county and the former District Attorney in his case. Filing suit seeking 36 million in compensation. After just two years, averys freedom coming to an end when freelance photographer theresa hallbeck vanishes near the avery farm. We, the jury, find the defendant steven a. Avery guilty of first degree intentional homicide as charged. This time life without parole. But avery supporters 36 million lawsuit against the county may have been the motive to lock him up again. The hit Netflix Series making a murderer going viral and thousands of supporters signing a petition to get avery out of prison. Did you kill theresa[ haubagh . No, not all you a. Ken crafts goes on the record. Good evening, sir. Good evening, how are you . Let me get a right off the start. This netflix is an edited documentary, right . Well, i dont call that documentary at all. It only puts one side of the story out there. The defense side. It was originally a feature film or a twohour docudrama or defense advocacy peace they piece they called it wasnt until netflix purchased the rights to it did the other side reach out to get this thing to be called a documentary. As it sits today, only telling one side, only presenting a narrative that is that mr. Avery was framed, i dont think they are entitled to call that a documentary. Okay. Fair enough. I want toee w go through some of the exhibits that we have. We have exhibit 79 put up on the screen. Thats sort of an overview of the avery salvage yard; is that correct . Thats the overview . It is. That was our crime scene. You can tell the scope of this investigation turned out to be the largest criminal investigation in wisconsin history. And how far what wasc recovered were bone fragments, teeth and her camera. How far was that found from Steven Averys home . Well, the bone fragments and the teeth together with some clothing items were found about 20 feet from Steven Averys back door behind his garage area. Interestingly though, greta, the camera, the phone, the pda, those items that were in theresas purse, were found in a burn barrel to the north of the trailer in a different place. Why i say that thats interesting is because the documentary never talks about the phone and those items having been found in Stephen Averys burn barrel. Were you able to determine the cause of death . I assume this woman didnt commit suicide. We have a picture of her, avery exhibit 5 next to this truck and the truck was also found, the suv in a salvage yard. Were you able to what was causec of death. Homicidal violence was the cause of death. Gunshot was the manner of death. And so there were some bone fragments that were recovered. Im sorry a forensic anthropologist found entrance wounds from two Bullet Wounds and gunshot wounds to cause this death. There is no doubt this was a murder it was not a suicide. It was found close to his house. We have gotten down to somewhat of a circumstantial case and you have got the problem is that the police at least the defense said had a motive to plant evidence, which would be some blood in the vehicle of steven avery. That would be their motive. Did he testify at the trial . Mr. Avery did not testify. He exercised his right to he remain silent. And his nephew was later charged, too. Was he tried as well, the nephew . Yeah. The nephew, after the seven book or so jury trial for Stephen Avery, about a month later the nephew went to trial. That was about a two week jury trial. He also was found guilty of first degree centennial homicide. Did he testify or did he milwaukee any statement at all incriminating Stephen Avery . He did. He made a statement incriminating himself and his uncle, Stephen Avery. He also did take the stand and was judge to crossexamination at his trial. Controversy in your community where some people say is innocent . Well, its causing a controversy because of the documentary. When you pick and choose 18 months worth of evidence, when you edit clips, when you spoon feed, if you will, the general public and walk them down a path and want a certain result. You run into that. To come out. Absolutely. But if you showed them the evidence that the jury was shown in both of the cases who got to hear abm9q the planting defense, who rejected this nonsense, it would be very, very clear. I have got to can you tell you off because we are running out of time. Everybody should watch the documentary but know that looking at the trial is a lot different than watching the documentary.
