And the lesson to take away, it is easy to it say if walmart did it, we will man date it for all businesses. All businesses, cant afford the losses that walmart may be taking in order to do this. And so it is great. They opened up other opportunities for other workers who get a better benefit package. And we want to make sure we help those people by creating jobs and not taking them away. Part of what they are offering employees ta maria. Is the training. And especially more reasonable hours or more scheduled, a more consistent schedule. Thats the word i am looking for and that seems to have done just about as much as raising the wages for these people. They have not rolled it out to all of the stores. But talking to people in fastfood and retail and Janitorial Service and on and on. One of the problems they have is not getting enough hour and hours that fluctuate wildly. These employees are helping make profits. It is long the standard in this country that we have a federal minimum wage. The rule of our democracy and the role of the democracy is to write the rules for capitalism and balance the interests. And the minimum wage is a bedrock principle is insuring that workers are not exploited in the country. Well, one of the things about the minimum wage that never made sense to me. There are walmarts just outside of manhattan new york, the mayor here doesnt want them. But there are walmarts in new jersey and also in manhattan, kansas. And the cost of living in those two cities are are not the same is. So why have a one size fits all minimum wage in the country. Historically we had federal minimum wage and we have 23 states that have higher than minimum wage. It is a floor in which employers cannot go. And thats all it has been. 7. 25. Lets keep in mind that there is much more. But there is much more to do to help american workers. We dont want to turn our backs in people in need. They need to have more than one job to pay the bills and we want to elim mate the way. And lower the tax rates so that companies can afford the cost and the reality is that they are noting that the Profit Margins are not as large as they are. And other companies couldnt afford this we lower the tax and make sure washington is not micromanaging wage and benefits, businesses are going to find employees that will work for them and freely negotiate these contracts. Force and western forces were taking the lead, and in doing these operations and the Afghan Forces were trained on the back burner and basically what happened in 2014, when the official end of the combat mission happened in november, the afghans kind of took the lead. And in helmund province. Whatever u. S. Or british support left and you had the army corps that was left out on its own and the taliban took advantage of that. And so now the two 15th is again, just inelmund spreads over afghanistan. You have Afghan Army Corps that are fighting the taliban. But they need u. S. Air support which is coming back in the forefront. And when president president authorized new air strikes in june. It is kind of let the afghans go out and find the taliban and lose checkpoint and positions or give them air support to hold those positions. We know that you served two tours in afghanistan. Its one thing to go over there as a gi and do what your superior officers tell you to do. And another thing to go back as a reporter and look at the whole thing and try to put in to words what is happening there. How did you find that challenge . Yeah, it was not as challenging as i thought. It was my first time back, extended amount of time since my second deployment in 2010. I had a lot of time to think about my deployments. And i showed up in afghanistan, taking that familiarity of being there and let that be in the background and do my job as a journalist. We have photos of you with your canine partner.
