It has sent a message to so many people. That well, you know, youre not really wanted. You are not really part of us. And i think the American Dream is big enough for everybody. And the other thing your governor and legislature did was everything they could to make voting harder for people. They were pretty blatant about it. Make it harder for people of color. Make it harder for the elderly and make it harder for the young. Now some of that has been rolled back thankfully because it was so young and i would argue unconstitutional. I have won elections and i have lost elections and so i know what the difference is. But i tell you this, i believe in what our founders established for us. To govern ourselves and widen the circle of opportunity and that includes the opportunity to be heard and to dress yourself and your voice and your boatvote and the best way to it reaffirm that commitment to the fundmental bed rock American Value is to show up and vote and demonstrate the importance of your vote. [applause] i believe that we may have a record setting turn out in this election. Some folks who follow this are saying we could have the biggest turn out weve ever had. That kind of makes sense, because you could not have two more different visions of where we upon want our country to go in the future and who we are fighting for. But early information is actually quite encouraging. We are seeing spikes in early voting and we are seeing rates among africanamerican and latino and young people going up. [applause] and for the first time, the estimate is, that young people can represent 25 percent of the vote. Now, i would love to see that obviously, i hope people vote for me. But i would love to see that, because every election is about p the future and honestly, it is more about the future of young people and children than its ever been because of the difference in the approaches and experiences of me and my opponent. Now last night, i got a chance, i got a chance to say a few things about what i want to do if i am fortunate to be elected as your president and i do have an Old Fashioned idea if i am asking for your vote i should tell you what i want to do. And i also got to convey my excitement about what we can do together and i really think the central issue in the country and what kind of future we want to build for our children and grandchildren. I think about that a lot. In part, i started working for the childrens defense fund. That is always my passion about p what we can do. To help more kids live up to at this time god given potential and during the Campaign People will ask me how did you get interested in that . The simple answer is. My mother had had such a neglected childhood. Abandoned by p her parent and sent to live with grand parents who didnt want her and age of 14, she was out on her own, working in a home, baby sitting and keeping house. She was basically a maid. And when i think of my mothers own life, and how she told me when i was old enough to understand how different her life was than the one that she created for me and my brothers, she would say she was so often saved by the kindness of other people. You know, we overlook the importance of just how we treat each other. The respect we show. The kindness. And the love that we show is. And i am well aware that is not something that you necessarily put on a campaign website, but i have been talking about it, because i think weve got to reassert our fundmental connection to each other. You know, when my mother was in first grade, she never had any food. And her first grade teacher noticeded in those days they brought a little bag of food and sit in the classroom and eat it and my mother never had any food. That first grade teacher noticed that and brought extra food and without embarrassing her. Doranothery, i brought too much food. Would you like this sandwich or milk. And it was not until she herself was much older that my mother realized that that teacher fed her that school year. Something she didnt have to do, but her love for the students and recognitions of a child who was not well taken care of meant that she stepped in and then when my mother worked as a maid, she really wanted to go to high school. She started to work right before she was in high school and she had to get out of her grand parents home. And the woman she worked for realized how much my mother wanted to go to high school. And so she said to her. If you get up early, it sounds like christine, getting up so early. If you get up early and get your chores done, you you can go to high school. Thats what my mother did four years. She got up early and literally had to run, run to get to high school. It sounds harsh, but not for my mom. She thought it was a great gift of kindness that this woman gave her a place to live. Hillary clinton speaking in her first event. People are saying who does donald trump think he is, he cant be president. What does he know about Foreign Policy . Last night both of them passed the commander and chief process. Hillary clinton will say i have this plan on my website, plenty of details. Donald trump will tell you big ideas, and he is still the unknown. And there is a tension. So for someone like you who studied Foreign Policy for years, what is better for america . Lets just look objectively, right president we have not yet figured out how to beat radical islam. It has grown in more states, greater parts of the world than ever before. The reset with russia, that has been i fiasco. The chinese are robbing us blind, stealing our cyber secrets, the iranians are going to have Nuclear Weapons and the middle east will be a war. Hillary clinton is more of the same. Will donald trump will better . Its hard to think hes going to be worse. But on the other hand, you dont know. But you know where she will be and its not any different or better. It will be interesting to see as we go from this point on. Im curious about your experience with Ronald Reagan. He didnt have a whole depth of knowledge when it came to Foreign Policy. Some shrugged him off, but obviously his Foreign Policy speaks for itself. What do you think about since donald trump relies on that comparison very much, what do you think of that with him . Its a good one. I worked for Ronald Reagan. He was dismissed as, like you said, a hollywood actor. Trigger happy. The criticisms of criticisms of Ronald Reagan in 1980 were far worse. He has the ability to challenge the conventional wisdom on Nuclear Weapons, the relationship with the soviet union and the cold war. What do you think it was about Ronald Reagan if he didnt have the experience. They didnt respect him at all. He had the ability to challenge conventional wisdom for common sense. The argument was that were never going to win a cold war. Cold war until the end of the time. And they said no, this is how were going to do it. Were going to use economic power, so reagan who was a cow bow, irresponsible. Well see what reaction is from the undecides on this. Have you been asked by either campaign . No, i ran against Hillary Clinton once, so im sure they wont be calling. But sure, i would always be welcome to be an analyst and help. Youre not a cook, if you dont cook.
