a military rekrauting center. and he opened fire in another one before he was killed by law enforcement. >> catherine has the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: thank you. fox news confirmed they are scutinizing the suspect mohammed's trip to jordan. it was a month in duration. and whether he had contacted individuals or groups of interest. a law enforcement familiar with the investigation said the fbi is combing through computer files and try to determine a motive. this search includes possible extremist material or propaganda to suggest he sympathized with isis or a terrorist organization. no determination has been reached. this is a blog attributed to the suspect but the fbi is not confirming. one point. brothers and sisters, this life is short and bitter. and the opportunity to submit to allah may pass you by. this is all taken to try to determine the events leading up to the shooting and if there was foreign inspiration and contact with the group. it is a very much ongoing process and in the early stages john. >> what are they focusing on right now, catherine? >> reporter: part of the focus on the processing of the crime scenes and determining the motive. the fbi said in a late night news conference, they saw no indication that anyone else was involved and here's what the white house had to say a short time ago. >> the fbi made clear yesterday that they are looking at a variety of possible motives including the possibility of domestic terrorism. and so that is a part of their ongoing investigation. i will allow the investigators themselves to provide you with an update when they are able to. >> reporter: the national counter terrorism center the intelligence hub's for threat analysis is very active in this case. and they have neither seen a connection with the suspect in terrorist groups but they are empsideways emphasizing that the islamic group encouraged this type of terrorism. >> catherine, we'll let you get back to digging. >> reporter: sure thank you. >> we are learning about the victims. one of the marines, thomas sullivan from massachusetts an iraq war vet van twice awarded the purple heart. and skip wells of georgia. and the names of the other two marines have not been released. one was an operation's chief and one was a motor transport chief. a makeshift memorial is growing outside of the rekrauting center and the families of the victims will not be forgotten. they will entitled to all benefits because they were on active duty status. >> they are trying to determine if anyone else is behind the tragedy. the naturalized american- born in kuwait. >> a lot of people are shaking your heads, and maybe you are one of them. how can a guy with so much violence in his heart willing to open fire and kill four marines and wounding other people and not not on a watch list. >> it has an explanation in the individual to be monitor you have to be indoctrineated. there is no way to monitor this because of the administration ideology. what is unusual about the case he conducted a sophisticated operation of one individual and we have no information on his radicalization. >> everybody in his neighborhood, i read quotees. they say he seemed like a nice guy. >> this is a pattern we have seen with other cases. what is the first reaction of neighbors? oh we don't imagine. that's how jihaddist operate. i wouldn't look at this element as crucial, but i would look at other elements. why is it he did not go that far radical. and what did he hide and missing link between early stage and operational. that is suspicious to me. >> how many others are are out there like him do you suppose? >> that's a real problem. from what i had in the blogs. you have large people trying to indock traited. it is more literature than ideology. that put its very very large. smaller poll is those who decided to take action. and this makes a case different. the government tells us we found that link to another organization. we don't have that information. >> it used to be you would read about the middle east and the jobs were few and opportunities were few. and so a lot of the guys in the middle east were directed in this out of boredom and frustration. and here this guy went to an american university and electrical engineering degree and seemed to have every opportunity available to him and pulls off this? why? >> his example destroys the argument of gihaddism. and yet there was something that made him go violent. it is not a lack of a job, it is a ideology. some point lone wolf is not that lone wolf. somebody told him he was right in what he was doing. >> how do we stop the next one? >> first of all, revise the policies in home land security and look at the ideology. if we don't do this we'll receive them just before action. we need a major revision. national security strategy. >> the administration prohibits the study of ideology. what do you mean? >> memos that said we don't look at jihaddist ideology and so those analyst can't use the terminology to determine if there is a radicalized individual. that is a problem in the early stage. >> walid, let's hope that changes. thank showed the mug shot. his hair was allowed to grow out. is the manhunt continues in mexico. and the u.s. is helping in small ways. not as much as u.s. authorities would like. they are helping mexican authorities and the focus of the search remains in mexico. he has no reason to leave that country. his contacts and he had people help him escape the prison. he walks around the cell and disappeared behind the half wall. it was 18 minutes that passed before anyone was alerted to the scape of the drug lord. he was able to get far. and it is controversial. there was not a single person a signed to monitoring guzzman. there was images from 20 different cameras and the number one prisoner in the entire country was not individually monitored and the details of the tunnel that cost 5 million to build and looking into whether they followed protocols. and issued an alert. and seemed obvious and the fact that the tunnel was built in a home near by. and this new home built just one mile from the prison. thousands of pounds of dirt removed and no one saw a thing. and a reward offered for his capture and puzzling considered by most estimate 5 million to build the tunnel itself. the u.s.ments to marines who are dead today. i want to know what your thoughts on that. you know they were killed on american soil inyou cluding a marine with two purple hearts gunnery sergeant two purple hearts and you yourself received three purple hearts. how does it make you feel today? >> i went to iraq and observed our men and women from serving and i came back with an immense sense of pride of our men and women serve nothing all of our services over there and to so these men die here when they are not expecting combat it is heart breaking and my heart goes out to the families and loved ones and all of our friends and my heart goes out to all of the marines. and every serviceman and woman who served in iraq and see this happen, is sorrowful and enraged that they were not able to take care of themselves. and what about the response afterwards? >> tremendous amount of law enforcement converged on the scone. >> we don't know the whole story. there's nothing said and we don't know why there were not alerts put out. you would think that the facilities in the area will be shut down and put on alert. obviously law enforcement did a good job in chasing him down. we don't have the details and who ran him in the woods. and there is a lot to it be learned. all of us need to be grateful for the jobs law enforcement and people are doing in averting the attacks like this. >> the marines were not armed at the time of this attack and a lot has been discussed about that today and in the following days as well. do you think there should be gun- free zones on military bases? >> absolutely not. there is a distinction here. in the recruiting station there needs to be guns. there we don't know what they were doing. they may be doing pt. we heard no story of how they were a target to the gunmen. and we saw the bullets. there were no indications he was a good shooter. and once we learn about the details of whether he went inside or if they were outside. i don't think there is any doubt. large or small, somebody at least one person or more should be authorized to carry the weapon. sidearm. you don't have to have a mr car boin. but a colt 45 is a good deterrent. >> first attack happening in the recruiting center and that was in a strip mall area. and a trip to jordan that the suspect allegedly took and spent seven months there back in 2014 what or how can that help in terms of clues in terms of what happened here? >> i think that is the biggest thing hanging out there. jordan intelligence is extremely good. we have a wonderful relationship with them. they have a good handle on what is going on inside of their country and will probably be able to determine where he was. and hopes that the jordanians didn't send a message to our country much as they did with the tasarnaev brother and the fbi was not able to figure up. even if they sent us something. he did nothing visible to warrant law enforcement to be on him. this goes with relationships with intelligence and the difficult and thankless job of law enforcement and intelligence people trying to track a lone wolf. >> a reminder and putting their lives on the line every day for us. thank you for joining us going easy on iran. mina easton is a senior editor for fortune magazine and jamie weinstein. senior editor o daily caller. nina to you first. does that level of apprehension among the american people surprise you? >> not at all. this regime came to power after the 1979 hostage crisis that people very much remember. it is a regime that supported terrorist groups like hesbollah and assad like syria in the middle east. americans know and they cheated on previous nuclear deals. people understand that and they see iran as a country not to be trusted and they are worried about the deal with good reason. >> this is one of the questions that poll respondents were asked jamie if the obama administration is aggressive enough on iran and i think the numbers are on the screen. clearly a great deal of skeptism. people are saying more than half say not aggressive enough. and 37 percent say it is about right. and it sounds like the american people want to be tougher than the president was. >> the american people saw the way the negotiations went down. america capitulateded on all issues to iran. and instead of prevented a nuclear weapon. that is a framework of 10-15 years they will be a nuclear threshold state. and they could cheat. we saw north korea. the west has not good a good track of stopping cheaters. they saw that the president capitulateded and now set iran on the path of being nuclear weapon state. >> when his first campaign and arguing with hillary clinton about the wisdom of negotiating with iran. he said he would do it with no preconditions. 80 percent of u.s. voters say they don't trust iran when it comes to signing an agreement and nukes. >> the president has a tremendous uphill battle. and he is trying to start selling it. part of the problem is it is complex deal of 159 pages and the crux is the inspections and there are those that think that teheran basically has 24 days to hide its cheating from inspectors under this agreement. and there is a back and forth of whether that is true or not. those kinds of issues are hard and complex to explain to the public. it is hard to win them over particularly in congress and the skeptics as the deal is debated. >> pollsters did some about politics. and there is shuffling on the gop side with regard to the preferred candidates and donald trump is on the top of the list with 18 percent. and walker at 15. and bush at 14 and paul at eight and rubio at seven. and a similar question to what i asked nina, do those numbers surprise you? >> trump continues. whether you like him or not, he is entertaining and you don't want to take your eyes off of him. and that's why he is covered. he gives great tv. he knows how to sell himself and frankly what he is selling could happen. he appeals in the since americans want a single bullet to solve all problems and he is a great negotiator and he can negotiate ourselves out of all of these problems but americans want to believe that and partly why he is doing so well. and put up on the screen the numbers of candidates if donald trump is not in the race jeb bush is at 19%. trump seems to be taking most of the support, he's getting from jeb bush. and structured suggest difference to the congress. we anticipate there will be a vote by the u.n. security council but not adopted for 90 days. >> the congress is in a 60 day review. two-thirds majority in tv. >> what's interesting is just before that in reference to another question he talked about how he doesn't comment on cases that are currently going on and that he makes this comment that many folks just really expected him not to do at all. why do you think he answered it to begin with? >> i think he didn't want to answer it and then once he kind of gave a rather deflective answer about the medal of freedom he realized he might be leaving the impression that he somehow condoned or was going easy on cosby. and i think that -- when you talk about iran you have to get into a number of centrifuges and inspection timetables and breakout times. it's a complicated story for a lot of people to follow. cosby has become this soap opera with 30 or 40 women making these allegations of sexual assault and rape. i think the president couldn't help himself. he stepped on his own story. he called the conference for one reason to defend the iran deal. nevertheless cosby ended up being
