The presiden president says misd go on for months depending on how they stand up to the terror threat. Peter king on the House Homeland SecurityCommittee Says the longer we wait to confront isis, the more of a threat ha they bee to our security here at home. We cannot wait for the Iraqi Parliament to fight isis. It becomes a direct threat to the United States of america. They are more powerful than a al qaeda was on 9 11. Jenna lets begin with bob who has been to iraq numerous times in a friendly face. In general, how do you think this is going . Not very well. These airstrikes are defensive in nature, in other words two airstrikes one day, to go the next, two the next, they are defensive. Those that are trapped can pull back. Now what we need is an offense of campaign. At the end of the day, war is a test of will. Right now isis has the initial, we need one offense of campaign, allow them to do it and that will take the air out of their sails. If we can just show one effective maneuver with firstclass weapons we give th them, perhaps we can turn this around. Jenna we feel the American Public has been given two options. This sort of strategy with a fullblown reengagement in ir iraq, walk us through what that would be like. Mostly just assault rifles trying to defend an area over 600 miles wide. And they are facing an enemy force equipped with our weapons. The way to turn this around is to pull units back, equip them with antitank missiles and the latest version of the rpg machine gun, and allow them to charge to the west, all along provide armed drone support and if we could do that just started soon, we stand a good chance of punishing the reputation of isis and perhaps breaking the back. Jenna those that feel we should be more aggressive, taking a little bit different strategy to that former commander had this to say this weekend. It will be very difficult without u. S. Ground forces or Ground Forces of other within may be able to participate but it really centers around what the president is right, there has got to be a responsible government in baghdad two of which a future army can be loy loyal. Jenna he believes we have to have forces on the ground, do you agree with that . Absolutely. Lets not waste to establish Political Authority in baghdad. This is a huge opportunity. We have the only are left in the middle east willing to fight, begging us for weapons, we finally have an Effective Ground team set up, so lets expand it. These are not american divisions attacking, it is the army that wants to take them on and willing to fight and we should do everything in our power to help. Jenna again, think when people get fat, what you are imagining what would it actually takes if we had the commitment we need to have, 2448 hours . Im curious what your timeline will be. If you edit said in a gradual, lets start with some limited tactical success. By that time hopefully baghdad will get the house in order and the iraq he can take up in the south. Imagine if you have a movement perhaps jordan will join, perhaps turkey will join, perhaps the iraqi army will get its act together and certainly going to push to the wes the weo close the gap with syria, and if all of these forces act in synergy with the support, there is a good chance we can stop the momentum and turn this around. There growing calls for him to resign. A third term in office, but the recent violence is forcing even some of his closest aide to call on him to step down goo. Then he violated iraqs constitution by failing to give him a third term as prime minister. Jenna most are sunni muslims, making up 15 to 20 of the population. The most prou. S. The region lying in the north along the border of turkey and iran is relatively peaceful, relatively prosperous and relatively independent we should mention. Kurdish militia has now taken control of several cities in the face of isis neutral advance. There is new developments in the latest efforts to end the conflict going on in gaza. A new round of talks getting underway after both sides agree to a new threeday ceasefire as of right now. Conor. We are now almost a full day into 72 hours ceasefire. It is holding delegation now in cairo meeting with houston in groups why are the officials so talks are now underway. Both sides trying to lay claims, it has been a costly battle for both sides not only in terms of the number of People Killed but also the damage to property and to the economies, but reconciling the demands of both sides still remains the main obstacle. Israel wants rockets promise be silenced while palestinians want israel and egypt to lift the blockade around gaza. There seems to be a rough agreement about what will happen now going forward. The blockade could be lifted. Agreed to in principle, but that isnt clear, both sides are officially going to agree to that writes now, trust is the main issue as it always is in the middle east, hamas doesnt trust israel or egypt, egypt acting as a middleman. Privately both sides Say Something must be done here. The third war in six years between israel and hamas. If something doesnt change, everybody acknowledges there will be another war. The big issue right now is getting the more ideological conservative wing hamas and Israeli Government to be on board for sort of a permanent agreement. Right now that is a major, major roadblock. They are saying something will happen, something must have been but getting those ideological groups to agree to that is the big issue. At least writes now what is a quiet jerusalem. Jenna former secretary of state Hillary Clinton next thing herself from the president. As she discusses president obamas form policy. Dont do stupid stuff is the Polite Company reading of it apparently, but clinton says that is not an organizing principle and as the article states, she suggested she finds form policy overly cautious and made the case America Needs a leader who believes the country despite the various missteps is indispensable force for good. Joining us now, karl rove and Senior Advisor fox news contributor. There are folks in either end of the spectrum making a big deal about this, what is your take of the timing of this piece and what mrs. Clinton had to say . Atop flight journalist has an excellent piece asking provocative questions and getting provocative answers. What is interesting to me is mrs. Clinton made the point, and i think it is accurate, this principle of dont do stupid stuff, which is what the Obama Administration in late may, early june characterize the form policy, they are not an organizing principle. This has been their attitude since the beginning, where was the secretary of state having a strategic framework organizing principles by which directed the form policy, after all, came to russia, she was the architect who did the reset. I would like to have a strategy. There is no principle did this administration conducted a form policy, under the current secretary of state as an ad hoc. What is the organizing principle of the administration, no clarity on what it was. Jenna this is a direct quote from Hillary Clinton as to how she feels about the broader issues in our country. She says this, when youre down on yourself, hunkering down, youre not going to make any better decisions than where you were belligerently putting forward. What about that story . There are two things embedded, trying to position herself as a goldilocks of form policy. Not as belligerent or overly cautious as obama. I thought that was an interesting completely political revision of the Current Administration in the previous administration. Trying to say i will be goldilocks. Embedded is this idea that is accurate, you cannot be a strong form policy leader for the United States. It is clear because at the end of president obamas eight years, it is unlikely his form policy will be seen as a succe success. All right kind to make certain people believe not responsible for the bad think theyre going to see in 2015 and 2016. I wonder what the white house things of this and whether or not it provokes any kind of change. Is it a catalyst to tell a story better or to be more direct . Get out in front of what Hillary Clinton may be bringing down the line. What do you think . This is not a problem with telling her story better. This having a story to tell. They have a strategic framework to approach form policy. Take for example in iraq today. In 2007 senator obama said we ought to have a stay behind force iraq to guide the military training to conduct targeted antiterrorism efforts and to conduct necessary airstrikes. Senator obama had a strategy, president obama does not. Jenna coming from friendly fire, does it change it all . I hope it does because any attempt by the administration to get a better strategy that you have a framework for the American People and to reengage, not to withdraw, but to engage would be good. I am not certain they will view this they white house as anything other than Hillary Clinton covering political posterior to get nominated and elected in 2016. Jenna you got a lot in there. And the president opens up of americas role in the world and the conflict, we will break down what he had to say coming up. ÷ jenna samesex marriage legal challenges filed with the u. S. Supreme court as now we wait to find out if the justices will wade back into that controversial topic. Both sides calling on the supr that and possibly settle the issue once and for all. Shannon bream has more on this. Reporter there are cases involving the issue of samesex marriage in 30 states. Three of them have now landed at the Supreme Court involving laws in oklahoma, utah and virginia. Traditional marriage advocates say they believe if the justices take up one of those challenges, theyre going to win. Theyre pointing to a decision from last term in which the Supreme Court held up a measure passed by voters banning the use of race and gender in public hiring and university admissions. It was written by justice kennedy, often the swing vote in critical cases. Heres brian brown, president of the National Organization for marriage. Kennedy makes quite clear that the people of the state of michigan whether the justices agree with them or not have the right as a matter of simple process to vote on key issues and to resolve them for themselves and that the federal government and especially the Supreme Court doesnt have the right to strip them of that ability. Reporter up to now, though, samesex marriage supporters have had Great Success in court. Challenging measures and repeatedly racking up wins. Chad griffin says, quote americans believe that it is wrong to tell people in love they cant get married just because theyre gay or lesbian. It could take several weeks, maybe even months, before we though if the justices will hear any of the cases appealed to the highest court. The votes are secret, and at least four justices have to vote yes in order for a case to make it onto the calendar. Jenna shannon, thank you. President obama is discussing Foreign Policy including the conflict in gaza and its impacts on israels security. Take a listen. I dont worry about israels survival. I think the question really is how does israel survive and how can you create a state of israel that maintains its democratic and civic traditions, how can you reserve a jewish state that is also reflective of the best values of those who founded israel . And in order to do that, it it s consistently been my belief that you have to find a way to live side by side in peace with palestinians. You have to recognize their interests. You have to recognize that they have legitimate claims, and this is their land and neighborhood as well. Leland joining me now, jim pinkerton, writer for the american conservative magazine, and alan colmes, host of the alan colmes radio show, both fox news contributors. Alan, many are saying the president s comments on israel are, shall we say, substantially less than a dose of fullthroated support. Does the president open himself up to more criticism as we have seen in the past be . If the president says hello, he opens himself up to criticism. If he breathes in, he should breathe out. What he said is exactly what has to happen. I dont know what he said in that clip of a much longer and deep interview and a fascinating one with tom friedman that is even controversial. The palestinians are in the same neighborhood. Each side has to recognize the others these, and thats the only way theres going to be a sustainable peace. What he said was perfectly rational. Leland jim, is alan on to something here . I though that would be hard for you to admit [laughter] the president rarely on these topics says anything controversial and takes a hard stand as weve seen Red Lines Crossed with no action . Well, i mean, its obvious that the president and alan agree with each other, they share a world view. The problem is that world view didnt stop hamas from firing rockets in the hundreds of thousands into southern israel, and it also hasnt stopped hezbollah from doing the same thing out of lebanon. So, clearly, the idea of any kind of peace treaty with people who want to kill you is hard to achieve. And the fact that tom friedman of the New York Times was nodding his head so vigorously only tells me thats the liberals doubling down on a failed vision of trying to negotiate with killers and terrorists. Whats the vision . Whats the other vision . Leland hold on, alan, i want to get to a vision now. This is what the president had to say on iraq. They squandered an opportunity, and ive been, i think, pretty clear about the fact that had the shia heart seized majority seized the opportunity to reach out to the sunnis and the kurds in the more effective way past legislation, debaathification, that would have made a difference, i dont think that can be disputed. The flip side is if they had done exactly what they did and we had 10,000 troops there, that would not have prevented the kinds of problems weve seen. The difference would be 10,000 troops in the middle of this chaos as opposed to having a much more limitedded number. Leland jim, is this a fair qualification of president obamas doctrine if there is one in terms of how he looks at the middle east, so is it simply justifying whats happened in the past . Well, i mean, i think thats certainly what obama thinks, but ill take Hillary Clinton as my expert. Karl rove and janet were talking about her interview in a segment or two back, and i think she was quite right. Sort of amazing that hillary was secretary of state for four years and only now when the whole thing is going down the drain does she now discover she had all the differences with obama. I find that opportunistic and kind of clever, and i think the media are going along with it. This is obama policy, and ill wait for allan to defend it again. I think jim is right that Hillary Clinton is positioning herself as in opposition and, in fact, trying to appeal to conservatives and even neocons and saying things like we should have gone into syria. But part of the interview with tom friedman, the president responded to that by saying we didnt have an Opposition Force in syria, for example, we could work with. These were pharmacists, doctors. These were not military. We couldnt prop up the opposition in syria. He had a very good response to that. This terms of the shia and the sunnis, of course, we should have insisted all along leland well, should have, could have, perhaps, alan, but didnt. The interview did not just center on Foreign Policy. There was also an interesting part that centered on domestic policy and at one point talked about republicans being the problem in washington. Take a listen. Our politics are dysfunctional, and something that i said earlier is, serves as a warning to us. And that is societies dont work if political factions take maximus positions. That is much more prominent right now in the Republican Party than the democrats. He re all right, jim, were going to give you the first swat here. In this sense, is it fair of the president . It seems on some level he is comparing the ideological radicals in the middle east to republicans. Is that a fair criticism . Look, i think the president has clearly got a polarization strategy, and hes had it all along going back three or four years saying the purpose of politics is to punish your enemies. Thats in the president s style, the republicans have responded. I dont think theyve had much of a choice. So we do have a serious clash now that issues like immigration and the fate of u. S. National interests in the middle east hang on the Upcoming Elections as to who wins because if the democrats are vindicated in their current strategies, im sure theyll continue it. Leland alan, quickly, are they going to be vindicated . Soon to be vindicated. Leland well see over the coming months. Alan, jim, thanks again. Jenna were now just weeks away from learning the verdict in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial. The possible conclusions to this very dramatic case. Plus, the latest on a trial for the surviving boston bombing suspect. Why his lawyers say the Media Coverage of this case is unfairly impacting the trial already. Leland 15 minutes away, whats check out whats coming for outnumbered. Always exciting, republicans are not the only ones blasting president obamas Foreign Policy. Now hes taking heat from his own former secretary of state. What Hillary Clinton is saying that has people talking. Plus, a restaurant removing its 15 discount for customers who pray before eating. All that plus our hashtag one lucky guy. You love him, you know him on outnumbered at top of the hour. Leland all right. Thanks, ladies. Jenna well, Oscar Pistorius is weeks away are learning his fate, spent much of the past year on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, and the case is in the hands of a judge who says she will deliver her verdict in early september. We have attorneys joining us now as we take a look and step back. Heres how the defense wraps up their case, jonna, essentially saying Oscar Pistorius should be looked at as a reasonable disabled person, not an ordinary, reasonable man. Talk us through that. That argument makes sense because be, well, you have to remember the judge in this case, they have both of their legs. And part of the argument ail along, part of the Defense Strategy all along was, wait a minute, Oscar Pistorius acted reasonably because he felt more vulnerable than you or me would because he didnt have his prosthesis on at the time he thought there was an alleged intruder. So i think it makes very good sense to say, hey, put that in the judges mind and say, hey, we might have acted one way, but you have to judge oscar another way. Great argument. Jenna im curious how you feel about it, heather, since its an argument really, essentially, made to one perp and to some person and to some supporting players. I think its a good argument. The prosecution is trying to run around it and say it doesnt matter because he knew it was reva behd that door and, therefore, he murdered her, plain and simple. Whether or not it was reasonable for him to act in a serb way and all in a certain way and all these mental status issues respect going to make a lick of difference if you buy the prosecutions argument. Jenna just real quick before we move to a different topic, have you seen any indication from the judge . Shes had very little interaction or intervention into the case, but just your sense of it, guys, do you think shes leaning one way or the other . I think shes probably going to come down the middle and find system sort of culpable homicide where he will spend some time being punished but not the full 2 years. I thought she was 25 years. I thought she was leaning toward oscars side. And that was an indication to me that she believed his emotion and that could work to his jenna that was controversial because some thought, well, perhaps hes laying that up a little bit. Well leave it to our viewers to disease. In our country the boston bomber, urging a federal judge to move the trial from boston to another city where they say a jury is less likely to be biased against their client, and their options now, heather, that theyre putting out there is not just boston, springfield and washington d. C. What about this . Well, springfield, new york and and washington d. C. The defense is saying that even springfield is in massachusetts. My familys from there. Its a smaller city than boston, new york or d. C. , and the defenses position is its still in massachusetts, youre still going to have a problem with jurors being able to be fair. A better city would be new york or d. C. Where theres a lot of other stuff going on jenna the argument that theyre using relies in part on a article or report written by a law professor. This is the language used by the media in the boston area so inflammatory that theres no way for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to get a tear trial. The professor said in the report that terms were used to characterize him more than 1400 times, the specific word terrorist, and heres an example as to why the jury will not be fair in the boston area. Heres the problem with that. We are a Global Society now, so its not just the people from boston are getting their news by having the boston newspaper flung on their porch over coffee. We can all access it. No matter where they move this trial they could move it to hawaii, the access to the internet, we know whats going on jenna what do you think the judge does here . Because to your point and be, heather, weigh in as well. Everyones on twitter, everyone can read the boston globe, not just people in boston. Heres the thing, the defense has an uphill climb here so let them have the venue of their choice and take away that potential for a appeal. The fewer issues on appeal, the better. Theres going to be an automatic appeal, right . Because we want to put this guy to death. So in that case it makes sense to do what the defense wants, but it doesnt because everybody on that panel if you dont know about the boston jenna real quick, if you had the choice, if you were the defense attorney here, where would you put this trial . I think new york and d. C. Are appropriate venues given that the news in those areas and the people, look, youre looking for a jury of fair peers. The people in those areas are more multinational and maybe a little bit more liberal. But we were the victims of terror, too, in new york and d. C. , so i wouldnt be choosing either of those venues. Jenna interesting. Well see how the judge deals with those complaints. Great to have you both as always. Leland . Leland coming up, a teenager tells police she was abducted by a man with a gun. Reporter we just spoke with the police, the Ontario County sheriffs office, i should say, who tells us they are still going through the process of interviews and analyzing evidence and and also finishing up the crash scene reconstruction. Thats going to be key. And autopsy results are expected today. Now, the whole thing captured on amateur video saturday night. You can see kevin ward jr. s number 13 sprint car apparently being bumped into a wall by Tony Stewarts car. Ward can be seen climbing out of his car, defiantly walking out onto the track waiting for tony stewart to round the bend to confront him, basically like walking into oncoming traffic on a fastmoving highway. He first is nearly hit by another car, then he points his finger at stewart and seconds later is hit. While theres no criminal sign, theres no sign of criminal intent, legal experts say tony stewart could potentially face charges of manslaughter. If charged, the determining factor of guilt would be whether stewart was reckless or criminally negligent in his conduct. Over the weekend stewart released this statement that reads in part there arent words to describe the sadness i feel about the accident that took the life of kevin ward jr. Its a very emotional time for all involved. The younger race car driver and the veteran champion had a significant rivalry, everyones talking about it today. Other drivers have said they butted heads in previous races. The ward family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers at this time. Investigators are asking any spectators who took videos of the crash to come forward as they work on reconstructing that accident. Jenna a lot of different opinions on this.
