The violence and unrest in cities they lead. Jacqui heinrich is live in wilmington, delaware with the latest. Good evening, both campaigns have busy schedules this week with heavy emphasis on swing states and on tuesday President Trump will head to North Carolina for an event, wednesday Vice President mike pence goes to pennsylvania and tomorrow labor day senator Kamala Harris heads to wisconsin while former Vice President joe biden heads to pennsylvania. Now with a hard spot with trump the campaign. At the polling showing President Trump took two fifths of Union Households can shooting to the narrow win and tomorrow biden will speak to the countrys largest federation of unions, the aflcio in pennsylvania the week comes the treat comes a week after the day of the last visit to the keystone state which he spent in part debunking President Trumps attack in the energy plan and trump claims abiding with band fracking and kill jobs and biden does not ban fracking or fossil fuel extraction but he will need to remind pennsylvania voters what his plan does call for. Senator Kamala Harris with Union Leaders and her trip to wisconsin and ahead of a roundtable racial equality in black Business Owners after protests boiled over in the state following the shooting of jacob blake. The violence in American Cities has been a major line of attack for the Trump Campaign. Republicans accusing democrats of rushing to judgment on the actions of police while being slow to condemn violence. Biden and harris clearly speak out against violence but make wave calling for charges against the officers involved in blakes shooting. Senator harris responded on cnn today. Im not a full position of the fact of the case but based on what ive seen i think that charges very much should be considered but i think the bigger point here is also that we have to agree that we cannot have a system that does not require accountability for everyone who breaks the rules or the law. The Trump Campaign has made law and order a Major Campaign theme, democrats are trained to push them into a defense posture amid allegations the president disparaged american troops, no doubt that story will come up on his Campaign Stop and likely hear the regular criticism we hear from democrats about the president s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Jon Jacqui Heinrich in wilmington, delaware. Thank you. White house staffers are going on defense for President Trump against the controversial report in the atlantic magazine in which unnamed sources claiming he referred to americas war as losers and suckers. David is live at the white house with more. Could take under good evening the white house focusing more on that appointment numbers under 10 1. 4 million jobs added in august. President trump getting back from his golf course this afternoon and virginia after spending several hours we caught him on the phone going into the front door of the white house but no question this story from the atlantic making big waves here at the white house, the atlantic is with article claiming President Trump in november 2018 called americans who died in the line of duty as you said losers and suckers. This is according to the article. You see the president at a cemetery and he was at the suresnes cemetery but he did not make it to aisnemarne cemetery. The sources claim the president did use those two words and the white house says he did not go to the ceremony because about whether citing email evidence and this morning treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin defended his boss. The president has always been 100 supportive of the military and he came into office campaigning on rebuilding the military and had been to arlington with him on memorial day, emotional times and i went to with the anniversary of world war ii in europe and very emotional times and i have been with him to launched the gerald ford. Ive never seen a more supportive president and the military. Democrats including nancy pelosi out outraged by the allegation but not surprised. I dont care what he says about me but i do care that he says in front of our deceased men at that time and mostly in uniform who made this ultimate sacrifice for country. Again, whatever he says about the article in this article, we know that he dishonored them and its on the record. Back on the campaign trail for the president , he will head to North Carolina and michigan this week on friday he will head to pennsylvania shanksville pennsylvania will who will honor those who died on flight 93. And also on friday joe biden will then meet about two and half weeks after that in person for the first debate moderated by your own chris wallace. Weve been talking about it and people can see at the bottom of the screen. Jon we are looking forward to that. David spunt at the white house. Thank you. The white house and Congress Reach an informal deal to avoid a Government Shutdown at the end of the month. It does not include more Coronavirus Relief funds. Leaders of both parties still appear to be mild apart on that issue, Lucas Tomlinson has the latest. Good evening lawmakers remain far apart, it is not just President Trump on the ballot, lawmakers from both parties want to get a deal done and Fox News Sunday treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin blamed the democrats. We injected 3 trillion into the economy. People thought we would get 25 unemployment and fortunately and never came close to that and were down to 8. 4. But the president , i believe we should do more stimulus and the speaker has refused to sit down and negotiate unless we agree to Something Like two and half trillion dollar deal in advance. A spokesperson to the Biden Campaign is not free optimistic. Folks have to asked himself the home, if the recovery is working for you, economists are calling the recovery ak shaped recovery meeting is going well and up for folks at the top but folks were middleclass or below it is going down. Democrats proposed a covid relief package that cost over 3 trillion. Despite the great jobs report friday, 7. 5 million Americans Still need to get back to work. Virtually no economist outside the white house and some people in the United States senate who do not think that we need a significant new relief package. They have a trip to fantasy island a 3 trilliondollar bill, a trillion of which one third has nothing to do with coronavirus. Its all of the things that you have listed, it includes Environmental Justice indirect paychecks to illegal immigrants. The current budget expires at the end of the month, and extension is likely through the december according to secretary mnuchin. The Senate Returns tuesday to the house early next week. Jon Lucas Tomlinson thank you. For more on the next round of budget talks, lets bring in congressman mike johnson from louisiana, chairman of the republican study committee. Democrats are talking about two and half 3 trillion, that is about the size of the first round of stimulus relief. Right congressman question equity thing about that number . As chair of the largest caucus of congress deeply concerned about the National Debt and the cdo has revised its estimate and were looking at 3. 3 trillion deficit this year alone. That said, i think the rankandfile members would be willing to do something in addition to what weve done already. The patent Protection Program has worked really, really well and theres a lot of members of congress who would like to reinvest for businesses, Small Businesses still struggling to make it and we think that would be a good investment. We gotta be careful in nancy pelosi has been completely unwilling. They weapon isis issue and theyre not willing to come back to the table and its a real shame for the American People. You mentioned the National Debt, the wall street journal had a scary headline, it is said to exceed the size of the economy next year, a first since world war ii and it goes on to say coronavirus spending shrinking gdp and tax revenue decline have pushed the government toward the milestone. Third world countries generally are the kind that have a gdp that is a debt that is higher than their gdp. What are we going to do about that . That is a frightening estimate. If were looking at about a 27 trillion National Debt right now projected to go up dramatically over the next ten years, it is not a sustainable trajectory. We gotta recognize that. The frustrating thing for us as members of congress with colleagues on the other side of the aisle, a growing number who subscribe to modern monetary theory where they pretend with a fantasy economic that the debt does not matter and the deficits dont matter, inflation is not a real thing. We all know that is not real life so weve got to be very measured in our approach. We got to do what is necessary and bail the country out of the mess and were making Good Progress but we gotta do it in a very wide fashion. Jon you got 8. 4 unemployment according to the latest statistic. That is a better number than most were expecting. Nancy pelosi, the leader of the democrats they both parties will head back to washington and here is what she wants ahead. We may come back the members will be coming back to do Committee Work this weekend and vote the following week and we have to make sure the public knows how we can solve this and why the administration is not standing in the way of crushing the virus. Jon standing in the way of crushing the virus. Democrats and republicans disagree on a lot of things but does anybody scarcely think the administration does not want to crush the coronavirus questioning. That is crazy talk by the speaker and her rhetoric has been escalating as youve seen over the past few weeks. Differently shes trying to get attention i think its a wrong time. I think the American People are seeing this for what it is. I think there will be a backlash against pelosi and the democrats who are the ones you are impeding this progress. Republicans in the senate, Mitch Mcconnell proposed the heels act and they are the ones putting the money on the table and propose to spend more on health and the National Institute of health and the cdc and the research that we need to confront this virus. If nancy pelosi politics that are getting in the way of this and its a tragedy for the whole country. Jon i cannot wait to get away without talking about hurricane laura, is slander state, the south west coast. How is everybody doing and what more do you need . Thank you jon, speaking of national tragedy, thats the biggest one, the Mainstream Media is not covering this anymore they moved on to new stories but the people of louisiana are struggling. We had unprecedented destruction in the southwest quarter of the state and the damage goes to the coast to the Arkansas State line. We are struggling. I want to point this out, louisiana needs a lot of help right now and the people impacted by the storm and the very first ones who always volunteered to help people in other states when they are hurt and were hurting right now. We have some of our parishes and counties down there that are going to take years to recover from this. We have to rebuild the power grid and is right now the storm with many days ago, thursday less, with 100,000 people without power as we speak and we have 57 a permissible water system still out, people dont have water and electricity in the heat index is above 100 degrees. This is serious and will have a long road ahead of us and were grateful for the prayers and the assistance of the whole country. Jon we hope our viewers dig deep and help out to the people in louisiana. Louisiana congressman mike johnson thank you very much for coming on. Thank you my friend. Democratic nominee Kamala Harris responded that trump is spending time in a different reality. There are huge disparities in our country based on race. And it does us no good if we want to solve those disparities to pretend they do not exist. There is no question that we have seen an unacceptable four generation of unarmed black men being killed. Nobody can deny that. Protesters say they have no intention of going home and they will continue to march and demand justice change and it will not stop until they see it. And National Guard helicopters airlifted hundreds of campers trapped in Northern California co National Forest by a fastmoving wildfire. A recordbreaking heat wave is fueling more than 20 fires across the state and we will have an update from california and moments. Meantime Public Health officials are sounding the alarm about a potential spike in coronavirus cases after labor day. The top Tourist Destination around the country are putting new coronavirus restrictions in place or ramping up enforcement of current rules through the Holiday Weekend. Meanwhile covid19 deaths in the United States are approaching 189,000 among the nearly 6. 3 million diagnosed cases this far. Charles watson is live in atlanta. Public Health Officials are concerned that a careless Labor Day Weekend could lead to a spike in cases in the fall. In texas record crowds are expected at parks and beaches on galveston island as they remain open for the Holiday Weekend, dr. Fauci urging americans to not let their guard down against the virus. When you have a holiday like labor day we have seen after the fourth of july, we saw after memorial day a surgeon cases, where and mask, keep social distancing, avoid crowds, you can avoid the surges, you dont want to be someone who is propagating outbreak. You want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. California many cities and towns are closing beaches to contain large crowds this weekend at beaches that are open and officials or ramping up local enforcement of Public Health orders and mandating people wear masks and physically distant or face a fine. Folks in new jersey are getting a chance to dine indoors for the first time in six months. Restaurants can now see people at 25 capacity or 150 people, whichever is less tables must be distant and masks should be worn except when people are dining. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy says the Health Protocols the state lined after this weekend are not inclined to suggest in. We temper staff when they come in and we require mask for anybody coming into the building at any point other than setting up the tables. Were sanitizing and following all the protocols on everything on sanitation that have been given to us. The message from Public Health officials is Holiday Weekend is to wear a mask and keep her distance. Jon Charles Watson in atlanta. Thank you. Do you trust that in the situation that we are in now that the Public Health experts and the scientists will get the last word on the efficacy of a vaccine . Its past the prologue that they will not, they will be muzzled and suppressed. They will be sidelined. Lets just say theres a vaccine that is approved and distributed before the election, would you get it . I think thats going to be an issue for all of us. I will say that i would not trust donald trump. Jon democratic Vice President nominee senator Kamala Harris saying she would not trust President Trump on the reliability of a potential Coronavirus Vaccine. The cdc has worn states to be prepared to distribute a vaccine in november. Raising could search the Trump Administration is putting politics over health, the wall street journal reports drugmakers are drafting a statement to prior safety. We believe the pledge will help ensure Public Confidence in the covid19 vaccine that may ultimately be approved in adherence to the rigorous scientific and regulatory process by which they are evaluated. Here to discuss professor of surgery at Johns Hopkins school of medicine. Author of the price that we pay in a fox news contribute her. The supposition is somehow the cdc is involved in a plot to rush the Coronavirus Vaccine and market to alter the course of the election. Is that possible . It is not actually possible. Anyone who knows how these things work know that there is an independent data safety monitoring board set up for every clinical trial, i myself have served on boards for Clinical Research on the monitoring boards in that board reviews the results in real time so if there is an early statistical signal, they will close the trial because of a strong benefit or strong harm and then turn over the results after the trial is close to the fda. So comments about it being rigged or muzzling are either ignorant to the process which is a clearcut scientific process or the intellectually dishonest. Jon so there is advance planning going on to distribute this vaccine, that is what the cdc is doing and thats what democrats are criticizing the advance planning. You can it qualify for the olympics and chew up without any practice. And we are walking into a situation where there is a potential although less likely than a vaccine trial being completed in december. There is a potential for it to be completed by october. If that trial completes on october 25, october 28 we do not want to be scrambling to get the distribution set up. We want to prepare, this distribution is not easy, it is not like the flu shot comedy requires minus 80degree freezers and they do not have the setup, the local cvs or the place that you get your flu shot. Doing advance planning is critical to get this out if its approved early. Willoughby approved early, depends on efficacy of the virus in the vaccine. If its 90 effective, they will close the study as early as october. If its 60 or 70 it will be december, why not plan early, thats the rationale of the cdc right now. Jon you have heard some of the reporting that our reporters have been doing regarding labor day and obvious and people around the country and authorities are scared there will be a spike in viruses resulting from all the people going to picnics and barbecues and going to the beach and so forth. Where do we stand with labor day tomorrow and what would you tell americans . We have seen good deals with the coronavirus and we see numbers come down and a lot of adoption of the best precautionary practices that weve asked americans to do and theyve taken a big personal sacrifice to do it but i would not celebrate victory just yet. Going into memorial day and going into the fourth of july, we saw bumps come afterwards, super spreading events and when we look at the numbers right now going into labor day, there is not that much different than the numbers going into memorial day, back then 35 40000 patients were hospitalized coronavirus owing into memorial day, that is the number that we have today going into labor day. We have about 1000 deaths a day and right now its about 85 850 deaths if you look at the seven day moving average. That is mostly due to improvements in hospital mortality. We are not doing that great looking at a potential collision with the flu come this fall. Thats why i would urge people to keep doing what they can to take the precautions. We need to be very careful. Jon doctor marty makary. We have to leave it there. Thank you. Thank you jon. Extreme heat continues to linger and into the next couple of days across the western half of the United States, take a look at the numbers.
